Hello everybody!

It seems that I'll be sticking around Vegas this Spring-Summer, which means I'll have quality time to work on fresh new projects to my heart's content. :)

I announced a couple of weeks ago that I'm working on a series of reactive masks that will respond to the wearer's facial expressions by animating features on the exterior. I'm calling them the "flocking masks" and I'll be making a total of five, one for myself and each of my closest friends.

Where the video above outlines the project's scope, I have another update below that shows my most recent progress this week. I built a set of test fixtures while will let me dial in the sensing system that will detect the wearer's expressions and trigger the mechanical functions.

This is all in preparation for a big mask calibration date that I'm planning to throw this coming Friday! =) Can my friends make LEDs light up with their scowls and smiles?? We'll soon find out!

Flocking Masks INTRO

This Spring I'm creating masks for each of my closest friends that will respond to their individual facial expressions with electronic and mechanical feature on the outside! Read more about this project here: http://roboticarts.zoness.com/category/projects/flocking-masks/
