The current incarnation of her in my Sunday games was enthralled by a vampire and had been for several years. It was a bad and abusive situation that was reinforced by real life abuse tactics, magic, and giving her an addiction to vampire vitae. My players have gotten her out of the situation, but it's going to be a slog for her. They're keeping her restrained until she's capable of making the decision to leave.
