For those of you who couldn't join us, here's the recording of our live Q&A. It might be worth skipping the first 15 minutes, as we had some teething issues ;)

Thank you to all who joined, I thoroughly enjoyed it and am already looking forward to organising another one!

Love, Stephanie x

Thank you so much for hosting this. Loved every minute. Have a wonderful time in New York

Anonymous

About to go to sleep! AAArrrrrr!

Anonymous

Good luck in NYC! They’ve been in a state of emergency. I hope you can make it though.

Laura & Jack

Sorry I missed it. Will watch it this weekend. Our family have enjoyed visits to Barbados. It’s a magical place and hope you enjoy it as well. If you can, rent a mokey (mini jeep) and travel the back roads around the coastline.

Anonymous

I've always heard you refer to yourself as small, but at 5'4.5" that's only .5" below average? Or maybe I misheard and you said 5' .5"?

Anonymous

SO FUN to see you and Philip in the wild in Barbados!!! Can't wait to hear all about your Christie's adventure and hope you both travel safe and keep well :)

Anonymous

Virtual hugs to you both! Thank you for the lovely chat! 🥰

Anonymous

It was brilliant really enjoyed watching and loved having my question answered

Anonymous

How fun are the live Q&As! It would be such a treat to do them monthly. Without the need for editing or preparation, it could be easy to just churn them out ;))

Anonymous

The first time I have been available to watch any live blog. It was great fun, you and Phillip are a dynamic duo are fabulous

Anonymous

Thank you so much for doing the live it was most injoyable and the question and your answers were most informative most of the questions I would of asked people got there before me but your answers were great I look forward to your next live stay safe continue having a fantastic break

Anonymous

It was fun to watch, thank you Stephanie and Philip ! 🥰

Anonymous

Altro Paradiso, Estela, Via Carota (their insalata verde 😮‍💨 they treat lettuce right), Gem, Russ and Daughters, Minetta Tavern and Emily are some really good restaurants you should try to check out while in nyc if you’ve got the time! (:

Anonymous

Thank you for the live, I've just viewed it, wouldn't have missed it even though I couldn't take part live. Good luck in New York 🥰

Anonymous

That was wonderful, filled in so many gaps about things that are in the process or near completion. Well done going great. Enjoy New York experience.XX

Anonymous

I really don’t thing you need to share your private medical history like your love life please keep that for yourself Stephanie, the great news is you are happy and healthy. You share so much already. 🥰

Anonymous

Thank you for this very relaxed and informative video Stephanie. And an extra big 'thank-you' Philip for being the perfect gentle and witty and ever researching support to Stephanie. YouTube and Patreon have completely changed the way we inter-act and learn about each other's lives and for me, La Lande is pure gold.

Anonymous

Thanks for the conversation—it felt very relaxed and informative, the vlogs going from strength to strength. I was surprised to hear that Sundays get fewer viewers—they are my favorite. Though, to be fair, the balance just works. It’s interesting for a former TV critic to watch the growth of YouTube into a network of sorts, so how we watch has changed so much. I like it, and I depend on CD as a mainstay, an ersatz family, like so many of your fans.

Anonymous

Thank you both so much for this lovely video, enjoy your stay in Barbados and New York.

Anonymous

Thank you for the video, I loved it! Question from my teenage son who has become fascinated with the garden plans...where will you put the sheep once the gardens and carpark are done?

Anonymous

Thanks a million, Stephanie and Philip, you are a magical duo!!

Anonymous

I really like this show but a small bit of positive feedback. when live streaming please always have a mic. Please always make sure the camera is not shaking and please check the background noise/light. maybe try a Skype call of something similar with somebody to check those things before hand.

Anonymous

I had so much fun last night! Felt like I spent part of my evening with two good friends! Already looking forward to the next one!!

Anonymous

I missed it live but loved watching the video. Well done. Love these Q&As

Anonymous

Loved the Q&A’s. It’s a pity that Philip kept chirping so loudly in the background 😉👍😂😂❤️

Anonymous

Totally agree - Stephanie shares so much already, she has the right to a private life also!

Anonymous

Well done Stephanie and Philip - everybody needs someone to top up their wine also.

Anonymous

Good for you for keeping a corner of your life private - you share so much with us as it is! :-)

Anonymous

Just watched, as i missed it live 😑 But I just want to say again, that you should really consider taking on some help for the editing, or maybe just the main part of it. I understand your reluctance, but I think it would give you some much needed free time, if you simply had to film, and could then hand over the editing. There is a huge body of work, so they will be able to see, and keep your style and standards 🙂 The reason for me keeping on with this, is that I think, while this might work fine now, I really want this channel to continue for a very, very long time, but without burning your candle in both ends constantly 🙂

Anonymous

YouTube kept failing on my end during the live so I finally gave up! Really looking forward to watching uninterrupted. Thanks so much for posting.

Anonymous

That was such an informative Q&A. Thank you both. I have been to Barbados (Bar-bay-dohs) many times & I believe what you thought were birds chirping were actually tree frogs. They typically whistle at nightfall. Also, Stephanie, I don’t feel you need to discuss your medical details with anyone. Keep it to yourself - not anyone’s business. I’m just happy you are well. Enjoy the Big Apple!

Anonymous

Thank you, Stephanie and Philip! My sister and I were watching when the remnants of Ida were thrashing down on us! We had 2 Tornado Warnings and 2 Flash Flood Alerts - We Blasted the TV bc we couldn't hear it with the deluge pounding down on our skylights. We were too busy drinking wine and watching the Q&A. We were NOT going to miss Stephanie LIVE! Nevertheless, in NJ there was a Tornado south of us - massive flooding, along with 6 inches of water in our basement. I said to my sister this morning. What were we thinking? We didn't care about the Storm outside bc we were watching the Chateau Diaries. I guess you can say we're BIG fans! Or... Maybe it was the wine? :) Still alive in Jersey!

Anonymous

Love the live! If you made the patron video live once a month, that would be great! The bonus is that hopefully, it would cut down the monthly work in not having to edit this one!

Anonymous

Loved every minute. Xx

Anonymous

Are there any rooms or spaces at LaLonde that have yet to be touched with some form of renovation?

Anonymous

I just finished the rest of the q&a. I don’t think you need to share your medical history. You share so much already. You’re entitled to that privacy. I think just a re-assurance that you are ok will suffice and if the illness comes up again then just handle it like you did before.

Noreen Kelly

thank you to both of you. looking forward to the christies videos. love the idea of philips channel

Anonymous

Can you please let us know that you and Philip are safe and well. We have just watched the evening news and seen how horrific it has been in New York today

Anonymous

A bit late to the party, however will you be putting a fountain or water feature in the veggie garden to give some ambience and a focal point 💦 🌳

Anonymous

That was great. Sorry I missed the live. Welcome to NY. Be careful tho, especially in Times Sq. Some incidents lately.

Anonymous

Dear Stephanie, looks like Dan is starting works on the pergola, suggestion here, can that metal chain link fence along the top of the stone wall be removed, since the tennis court is not in use…cheers

Anonymous

I recommend a collaboration with Abby Cox - she has a lot of experience with 18thc costuming. Worked at Colonial Williamsburg for years.

Anonymous

Also, maybe replace the half wall of chainlink fence on the front side of the walled garden with something that matches the feel of the chateau.. Iron fencing to match the gates or even something with wood to match the new pergola.

Anonymous

A collaboration between you and Timothy Corrigan would be amazing!

Anonymous

Broadway shows are back !! 🎩 https://www.todaytix.com/

Thank you both so much for sharing. Joy and happiness. Truly grateful. So happy for you Stephanie that your dreams are coming true. 🙏👍💕 Can't wait to see New York. That's going to be super exciting to watch. 👏👏 I truly hope the storm we heard of today won't effect your trip. It sounds very bad. Hope all living in New York and surrounding area are ok 🙏💕🙏❤️ Seriously hope you have not been caught up in it.

Anonymous

Ps would love to see Phillip do table setting, I could watch that all day too. Hope Phillip gets to show us. 🙏💕

Anonymous

Such a lovely chat, so enjoyed it. Take care both of you, really excited for NYC. You are teaching me so much about things I would never think would inspire me. Thank you for your passion and creativity, its rubbing off and I absolutely love being a part of supporting you and your journey.

Loved the Q&A Stephanie and Philip and all the updates on life at LaLande. Ive attached a link for Philip and possibly Michael Potts on the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition for 2021. See: naturephotographeroftheyear.com.au/gallery There are a lot of cute animals in it. The winner of the competition is a photograph of a Leafy Sea Dragon which was taken near where I live on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia and is our State Marine Animal. By the way Philip I don’t know if you are aware that the Australian echidna which is similar to the hedgehog is one of only two egg-laying mammals in the world. The other is the platypus and they both hatch their young which then crawl into a pouch and are raised there until they venture into the world. I think the platypus would be an ideal ‘Philip’ animal in regards to cuteness. Have a wonderful trip to NY and Christie’s. I can’t think of 2 better people to have this opportunity!

I missed my chance to ask ahead of time or live, but I've been wondering, would you consider maybe selling LaLande merchandise? Even something as simple as the logo Steve made on shirts, coffee mugs, or other small items? I would love a LaLande coffee mug! Maybe the proceeds from that could give you a bit of an extra cushion for the things you don't use patron funds on, or even add it to the charity funds? Other ideas for things to put on merchandise; the portrait of you, some of your father's designs, the beautiful custom LaLande toile people have sent, Princess Pocket Mouse, Thor, Nick's Luchadore mask, a hedgehog, or one of Michael Potts' photographs of the chateau. I think a lot of us would love to have a little piece of LaLande with us.

Anonymous

Hello Stephanie and Philip hope both of you are safe in NY. Just saw the news here in Australia. Thoughts and prayers to all. That storm looks horrific. Take care

Anonymous

Stay safe in New York guys xxx 💕

Anonymous

Hi the Emily 😊👋 Stephanie has mentioned that she will be selling merchandise in the future but it’s not something she wants to rush into. Stephanie wants to take time to get it right, which is fair enough.

Anonymous

Hello Karen 👋 Same was watching the news in New Zealand, also really worried for them both.

Anonymous

Stephanie— Friendship doubles our joy and helps carry our griefs. Share as you wish, love the examples you set for people to find joy! I am not a big sharer of my strifes. But always willing to listen to the extent some one wants to share. Your body, your life and I 100% agree …your decision what to share!!!

Anonymous

It if Friday loved the video wish there was a way to let Hz know if you two are ok

Pam Mastin

Stephanie and Philip... I'm really concerned about your safety in NYC. A huge storm from tropical storm Ida just went through Wednesday and they're having terrible problems with flooding. :(

Anonymous

I don't think that they are in NY yet (?). They had to have two weeks between France and the US before they could enter.

Anonymous

Yes, he has such an open, friendly personality, as well as Stephanie, and has great connections to France and chateaus, their cultural history and renovations. I think it would be a very enjoyable meeting-of-like-minds. He commented on one of my lowly Instagram posts last year and I near sh..., well, you know what I mean. lol

Anonymous

I hope you guys are safe in New York! Have an amazing time!

Anonymous

lol. When the Hugh Grant vs Colin Firth question came up …. Michael Potts totally reminds me of Hugh Grant so it’s great that the elusive Nick is Colin Firth! Two of my favorites😁.

Anonymous

Beryl, your red sweater on Stephanie is perfection! Well done! I love your knitting!!

Anonymous

I was thinking if you did more lives that could save you time as they don't need editing and its a great way to be interactive, catch everyone up, and give us a chance to ask questions. It feels very personal like we are having a get together with you and Philip or whoever might be filming. Why not do a few of them during the Advent calendar season as you are so busy for example and one or two a month to save you editing time and let you have more free time to relax. One request - sometimes it was hard to hear the whole question Philip was asking so hard to know what you were answering about....maybe you could reframe the question in your answer or he could have his own mike? for example when Philip said someone asked "What are your plans for the boathouse?", I thought he said goat house and I thought, I've never seen the goat house...Luckily you said boathouse when you answered so that cleared that up right away! One more suggestion - why not do the interview with Philip as a live? looking at this live, it seems to me no editing is required and Philip is so comfortable on camera now, I imagine his interview wouldn't need editing either. And we would love the chance to ask him questions after you ask the questions you ask everyone. A win-win for sure!

Anonymous

PS I have to say I have never seen you looking happier and more relaxed as you were on the Barbados live! so glad you got a vacation

Anonymous

As a historian, I knew exactly what a Christie's Tastemaker does. I actually squealed aloud for Stephanie when she announced her invitation by Christie's. Christie's and Stephanie (& the LaLande team that comes with her!) are a perfect match. Christie's was founded in the late 18th century. They both take the greatest care of the treasures that come into their care. I am very excited to see the behind the scenes video of the Tastemaker series. Thank you all for sharing.

Anonymous

Loved ever minute of that. Please do it again sometime. I'm amazed at your energy to be as lively and spirited as you are for that length live. WELL - you are still young after all at 46 😘XX

Anonymous

That was such fun :) It will be so interesting to see the work with Christie's, looking forward to that! Btw the hat in the sunday-vlog was fantastic.

Anonymous

the lake was honestly the first question I was hoping would be asked! love you guys xoxo

Anonymous

Love the driving stories Steph, may I suggest that you use the waze app instead of google for your sat nav!

Anonymous

Sound was very poor

Daniel Hammond

Philip,I hope you start your own channel. I will certainly subscribe. Loving your hair!

Anonymous

One point about Stephanie’s dress size - she said she is an 8-10 - this is UK sizing which is equivalent to a 4-6 in US sizing.

Anonymous

The next time I’m driving somewhere and get a bit lost, I shall ‘channel’ you, relax, and tell myself that at least I’m not reversing up some steps like an extra from The Italian Job 😀

Christine VR

Fairly certain they haven’t touched the attic bedrooms ie the old servants quarters. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually but there are more pressing issues first. I am looking forward to seeing all of it!

Anonymous

You two are the perfect team. One is adventurous and the other is cautious. There is safety in that.

Anonymous

Golly, I have a couple of embarrassing driving stories, one involving a very dark, late drive with extremely poor navigation of a cloverleaf exit ramp (to be fair, it was so dark and so late and I was so tired I didn't realize it was a cloverleaf exit) which resulted in a collection of amazed faces at the gas station - the other involved a French marching band which is a long story, but I'm sure many of those musicians still tell that story.

Anonymous

This whole La Lande thing makes me smile. Best entertainment out there. Stephanie is pure gold.

Anonymous

Does anyone know if there will be a video tonight? Thank you!

Anonymous

I came in search for today’s video as well …. She hasnt missed an upload till now . . So let’s hope that she will upload today

Anonymous

Thank you so much for this video! I can’t imagine how tough it must be to do a live video. Both of you are absolute gems🌸
