A Fresh New Year! (Patreon)

Here's a quick rundown of what's happening:

1. New Pervader update by the end of January

2. Going back to monthly Pervader updates

3. Going back to monthly pinups, but it's not restricted to Pervader anymore

4. Horny Gaol still in the works

It's been more than half a year since we've seen any Pervader action, and that's finally changing. For the past few months, I've mainly been focusing on unrelated artwork, just trying to get some commissions and art mileage in. The start of the new year felt like a good opportunity to shake things up, which is why I've been doing daily art stuff and trying out new things related to drawing for the past few weeks.

Up until the last Pervader update, I had grown more and more frustrated with some of the things I was trying to achieve in the narrative. Over time I have matured a bit as a writer and my priorities have changed. I decided I wanted to trim away some of the grand cliché and tropey things I was doing, and replace them with smaller, more personal, more character-driven stories. That meant that I needed to rethink a lot of stuff, especially related to some important character motivations, as well as historical lore. I wasn't comfortable continuing the story until I figured out this stuff.

Now I'm clear headed about where we're going. I've made a lot of fertile ground for the story in my head. This probably doesn't really mean anything to you guys, but I thought I would try to explain the (main) reason for the delays!

In any case, expect to get back to the regular update schedule of one build per month (usually).

I'm also enjoying doing quick drawings or paintings nowadays. I post something on Twitter every day, and I'm hoping to keep it up for as long as possible. So, I figured I may as well bring back Patreon pinups!

I'll be doing two pictures a month this time, and this can be any character you guys want, not limited to Pervader! I'll be making a post next month asking for suggestions, and in the comments you will be able to nominate any character for the pinup. I'll make a follow-up poll, and the top two characters get the pinup. I'll probably make this a Pervader+ tier supporter benefit, but the final image will be posted publicly for everyone at the same time.

Finally, Horny Gaol is still in the works, though it hasn't gotten too much attention from me these past few months. I'm still super excited to eventually get to it though, since I absolutely love tinkering with game design ideas and trying to make stuff that stimulates the gamer brain.

Most likely there won't be a demo for it until after Pervader is finished, partly because I want to focus on Pervader first, but also partly because it would work best as post-Pervader content (because it takes place in the same world).

Here's a cool little teaser feature that should be interesting to you guys: I'm planning on adding a feature where you can import your own custom character sprites into the game and having them show up as a randomized NPC you can recruit! The process would be super simple, where all you would need to do is get two png files of your character (one in an "idle" pose and one in an "action" pose) and place them in the correct folder. The game would then automatically name the character according to the filename, and generate some random attributes for them.
