Awesome, Damiani. I've been waiting for Easy Allies' thoughts on Yooka because it was such a polarizing game. A tough one to review, sure.

Definitely not an easy title to review, great work!

Harsh, but fair. It seems that a lot of these "spiritual successors" coming out of Kickstarter end up falling a little short of the intended vision. It's easy to let nostalgia color in elements of some games that don't quite hold up today.

I hear all the complaints and I'm sure they're valid but as I watch that footage and hear the music I just think "i want to play that". Well I was a backer of the Kickstarter so I'll get my chance

It's a shame that this game turned out how it did. I wasn't personally invested in the game but I know many people who were really looking forward to it. I'm sad for them that it's not living up to their expectaitons.

Sometimes, but on the other hand we have the nearly flawless pair of Hyper Light Drifter and Shovel Knight. It's like anything else - some hits, more misses.

Well that's disappointing... on a positive note though... at least I'll be keeping $50 in my wallet.

This makes me sad. I helped kickstart this game and I've been really looking forward to it. Oh well, it's always a gamble, I suppose. Good work on the review, guys. :)

If it's really that bad, definitely the last game I ever kickstart.

I never played banjo, and was looking forward to this game, but after watching kyle stream banjo, I was like yea this one is not really doing anything different and the voices were really annoying. Talk about stuck in the past. 3 stars seems like a kindness in my eyes.

It's a 3/5 game, that doesn't mean it's bad. You may still enjoy it.

A 3 star game I'm still definitely playing.

I hate to focus on the score but I call bullshit. "Less than mediocre" != "Decent". I really don't believe that Damiani's score accurately reflects what he's written in the review at all.

I feel the opinions about the humor and voicework shouldn’t be brought as facts. To me it adds charm and character to the game.

Andrew Chalmers

Nice review. Despite the drawbacks, I'm still excited to play this game.

I love Banjo-Kazooie with all my heart, and I've been cautiously looking forward to this game since it was announced. I didn't back it because I don't like the idea of paying for a game before it's made. Everything I saw of the game lacked the charm of the original game, and when my brother made me play the demo, every single thing just felt "lesser". My brother backed it, so I'll still get to play it, and I'll probably have a decent enough time. It's just a shame they didn't put the same love and care into it.

EZA and several other places reviewed this game in the 6-7 area. A lot of legitimate gripes were brought up in this review. I was looking forward to this.

Thought that too about the score. I personally prefer the 100 or 10 scale cause i grew up with it and it gives you more freedom to differenciate. But to be fare, almost every time i guessed the stars in previous reviews, based on what was said. Maybe it's an option to have two or three different teers of wording vor every star. That would be a bit more precise. Apart from the score, everything reminded me too much of Banjo. I mean i't s cool to catch some flair of the past but i didn't see anything new in the review, wich is a bummer! I mean, do i have any reason to play that instead of digging out my N64?
