Hi everyone!

We want your input for the next episode of EZAnime. A lot of you have given recommendations for things to talk about, so Brad and I decided to let patrons pick what we discuss next. We've made a giant list of about 40 different anime that we want to feature on the show. From that list, we've picked 10 shows that $1 and up patrons can vote on for the next episode. Each month, we'll change up the list of 10 to give different shows a chance at winning the vote.  Voting officially closes at midnight on 02/11/17.

If you're worried that a particular anime isn't on our radar, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GIVE RECOMMENDATIONS. We'll add anything from the comments section that looks interesting to us.

Of course, since this is a brand new show, the structure/voting process is subject to change. The next episode will premiere on 02/28/17!

-Ben

My all time favorite is trigun, I'd like to see that get some love ❤️

Anonymous

(Because for some reason it won't let me vote I'll put it here) Code Geass. Definitely one of my favorites.

Anonymous

Dragon Ball Super. The Dub just started

Anonymous

Bleach, Death Note, or Psycho Pass

Anonymous

Im sad to know that Monster will never win... such is art

Anonymous

Gurren Lagann

Anonymous

Death Note & One Piece! Maybe "A Moment with Manga" portion of the show, that focuses on Manga only titles?

Anonymous

Suggestions I'd give that are not the norm be Ouran High School Host Club, Azumanga Daioh, G Gundam.

Anonymous

Gonna give Watamote a mention here, consider it for the future

Anonymous

Try out Shigatsu Kimi No Uso. Super heavy slice-of-life anime or the superbly successful movie in Japan, Kimi No Nawa

Anonymous

Steins; Gate!

Anonymous

I voted for monster even though I'm pretty sure JoJo will win. Hopefully one day it gets a chance.

Anonymous

PLEASE talk about Yuri on Ice!!!

Anonymous

Initial D!

Anonymous

I love Monogatari so MUCH. SOOOOO MUCH. Though I know how much EZA loves Jojo. I stand no chance.

hugplx

Shokugeki no Soma (Food Wars) or One Punch Man. Both my fav anime for a while.

Anonymous

I'm amazed that Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei made the list. Everyone should watch it.

Anonymous

I would like to throw Kill la Kill into the discussion.

Anonymous

I expected to see steins gate on here lol

Anonymous

I would like to recommend two anime. The first is Psycho-Pass one of my personal all time favorites and if you were a fan of minority report you'd love it. The second is going to be Fate/Zero if you enjoy character pieces and heavy stories it's one of the best with a cast of really great characters.

Anonymous

I doubt it'll win, but I'm glad to see Monogatari on the list! Hopefully we'll get to it eventually.

Anonymous

Ghost in the Shell! One of the GREATS!

Anonymous

I would like to recommend Irregular at Magic High School :) Really high quality anime that blends science and magic together in a fresh and unique way. Can't wait to watch this podcast, thanks Allies!

Anonymous

Please please please do haikyu

Anonymous

VOTE FOR JO JO's what are yall doing!

Anonymous

I'd also like to wholeheartedly recommend Psycho-Pass (first season though, I like to pretend the second one doesn't exist :P). Mononoke also deservers attention, it's amazing storytelling and the art style is not one often encountered in animation. And I know this is probably not going to get a lot of votes but Death Parade is also great. Lastly, Tokyo Ghoul guys!!!! Seriously, Tokyo Ghoul.

Anonymous

FLCL only because it's really short and will be easier for the EZA community to consume

Anonymous

Serial experiments Lain, Evangelion, OG mobile suit gundam, Zeta Gundam, Gundam Thunderbolt, Steins gate, Black Lagoon. The list is endless. If you guys decide to cover any movies I would suggest, Perfect Blue, Ninja scroll, Wicked city, Akira, Any studio ghibli film, vampire hunter D. Hopefully you and Brad get to some of these. I'm just glad you both picked my all time favorite first.

Anonymous

OMG I'm so glad Code Geass is on the list! I really hope I see you guys discuss it sometime, doesn't look like it's winning at the moment unfortunately

Anonymous

DEAD LEAVES / TAILENDERS / REDLINE

Anonymous

ah man I was REALLY hoping you guys would give Hajime no Ippo aka Fighting Spirit a go

Anonymous

There's no way you should only do ONE show per episode. Also get on this Monster train, its not popular normally recognized like most shounen, but its incredible, you need to talk about it..

Anonymous

Is Hellsing the tv series or Ultimate?

Anonymous

Love the name of the show.

Anonymous

And omg please let the show or at least have a segment be called Moon Wars do it for yo boy Wingatakus and all the ff7 stream allies! lol

Anonymous

Would vote FMA but I guess not finished yet?

Anonymous

The Melancholy of Haruhi. Most likely the most unique anime i have ever watched. This is my number one anime. Some people love it, others completely hate it. Clannad. This is definitely a "don't judge a book by it's cover" situation. Incredibly emotional story. Angel Beats. From the creators of Clannad. Much shorter and more action based but still heavily emotional. Death Note. Attack on Titan. Psycho-Pass. Darker than Black. Azumanga Daioh. Classic comedy anime that's super weird and fun. There's a million more but these are some of my favorites.

Anonymous

HUNTER X HUNTER

Tank

Shin Sekai Yori/ Planetes/ Jormungand

Shazz

I'd like to recommend Psycho Pass and Hoozuki no reitetsu! Both very different but great shows. Hoozuki no reitetsu is half hour with two around 15 min shorts based around life in Japanese Hell, it's absurd and v funny! Also older shows like cowboy bebop, trigun + wolf's rain!

Anonymous

Onepunchman and Mob Psycho 100. Also, don't be afraid to talk about romcoms, there's no shame in liking those. For example, my absolute favourite anime is Toradora.

Anonymous

It's a shame Monster will automatically lose because there are more well known anime on the list. It's such a great and underrated series. Same deal with some of the others like Haikyuu!! and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Might I suggest for the next lists that you save the less popular anime for their own list and things that are more well known like Naruto, Jojo, FLCL and Code Geass for their own? THanks regardles for doing this show!

Anonymous

Glad this is getting off the ground guys! I think you both would love the show Shirobako, the anime about making anime. It is 25 episodes (so its not a huge commitment) and one of the best animes of last year, if not the best. Keep up the great work!

Gan Khef

C'mon, the Naruto conversation is destiny. Let's make it happen.

Anonymous

YU YU HAKUSHO!!! Great first episode you two, and certainly something I'm excited to get some more of in the future.

Anonymous

I'd like to recommend Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Anonymous

An anime I'd like to recommend is Hajime No Ippo or "Fighting Spirit" in the US release. It's got fun and funny characters without going too over the top. The characters grow and change over time, and the boxing scenes are really interesting and strategic.

Anonymous

Having the allies react to the director forcing his way into the meeting with the manga artist towards the end would be glorious.

Anonymous

Also, Fist of the motherfucking North Star. Not sure how I forgot about it. #Manime. I also feel like I need to mention JoJos but I know you dudes are gonna cover it.

Anonymous

GTO would be nice.

Anonymous

Some rezero would be nice. Also some gundam please?

Anonymous

Also, I hope you guys do JoJo if you can have all the allies that watched it participate.

Anonymous

Feels: Ano Hi Mita Hana (short 11 episode series), Angel Beats. High tension gambling: Kaiji Ultimate Survivor. Overlooked great medieval fantasy show: Shingeki no Bahamut. Romance: Toradora. Time travel suspense: Steins Gate (starts very slow but huge payoff as things snowball to 11!) Giant Robots: Gurren Lagann. Non-anime: Gravity Falls (if you ever did an american cartoon show)

Anonymous

Not something I see getting a lot of votes because I don't think it's super well-known, but last year I was introduced to The Tatami Galaxy. It has a really unique art style and is completely bizarre at (many) times, but after finishing it I'd definitely put it near the top of my list of favorite shows. In short, it's about a guy searching for the "perfect" college experience, with most of the episodes being about what his life would be like if he joined certain clubs. It's only 11 episodes, too! Definitely worth checking out if you ever have the time.

Anonymous

Keijo!!!!!!!! The exclamation points are part of title, I 'm not yelling at you.

Anonymous

Steins;Gate and the games :) Also, The Tatami Galaxy.

Anonymous

For the love of all that's right: Neon genesis Evangelion

Anonymous

very cool that you guys are starting an anime piece. love your guys' input on games, so its just another medium to enjoy from eza, plus berserk is my fave manga, keep up the great work guys, plus should add clannad to the list eventually :)

Anonymous

Thanks for starting this podcast Ben and Brad! I wish I can recommend all my favorites but I'll stick to two for now. Definitely, Hunter x Hunter and Ping Pong the Animation. Hunter x Hunter is the best shonen I've watched with the progression of its memorable arcs, dynamic characters, and its willingness to show the grey side of humanity. With that, it also has one of the best explained power structure with Nen and its use throughout the show outshines other anime. Second, Ping Pong has such a great narrative and unique artstyle. While it can be sort of jarring first watching it, it quickly grows on you and adds multitudes to the story. A bit longer of a suggestion than I intended but I guess that's what comes out when you're passionate about these things. Looking forward to the next podcast guys, keep on being awesome! (Also definitely watch those Steins;Gate blurays you guys got)

Anonymous

Re zero is the perfect choice for the next episode it has a little bit of everything that makes a good topic of discussion and also very reliatable characters.

Anonymous

One of these days I hope you guys get around to watching Baccano. I absolutely think it's one of the best anime's of all time.

Anonymous

I am also wondering what the Allies' thoughts are on Evangelion. I think Ben, Bosman and Brad have mentioned it very occasionally, but I can't get a read on whether they like it or just know of it/have watched it. I also worry they won't/don't like it, which I'd understand but be disappointed by.

Anonymous

YES! FLCL is my favourite anime period. Now we just need Steins;Gate on here and I am complete; games and anime.

Anonymous

Agreed, this is an excellent pick. Revolution Girl Utena isn't really anything like it but is another great show they should talk about.

Anonymous

Very excited about this podcast, and maybe a little too early to say this, but i'd love if eventually you guys do a special episode covering animated shows that aren't specifically anime. Say Avatar, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (My favorite), or Trollhunters.

Shazz

Oh and as another comedy option I'd rec. 'cute High Earth Defense Club Love!!!' which is a magical boy anime which spoofs the magical girl genre, again it's ridiculous and def worth checking out even if you don't think it sounds like your thing!

Anonymous

Please, please watch and discuss Steins;Gate. My all-time favorite series. You cannot go wrong with this incredible cast of characters and story.

Anonymous

Sakamichi no Apollon, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Revolutionary Girl Utena are all things I would like to hear the allies' thoughts on, but I'm also worried they will not like these as much as I do. Sakamichi is a show set in 1960s Japan following the friendship/love triangle of three students, two of which are talented musicians, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe of Samurai Champloo/Cowboy Bebop/Space Dandy fame. I wouldn't put it quite as high as the next two shows, but Sakamichi (also known as Kids on the Slope) certainly deserves more recognition and attention on par with Watanabe's other stellar works. I struggled over whether to put Silver Spoon in its place, but unless Silver Spoon gets renewed its current ending is just a bit too abrupt to recommend over Sakamichi, still an amazing show created by Hiromu Arakawa who also made Fullmetal Alchemist. It would be surprising if you guys have not already even seen this show since it is so well known, but if you haven't just know that it is an intense and emotional journey with flawed people fighting to save the world despite personal traumas, directed by Hideaki Anno (who also did a great Godzilla movie last year). Revolutionary Girl Utena is directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara, director of much of the Sailor Moon anime and good friend to Anno. Utena basically turns fairy tale/"magical girl" stories on their head in a similar fashion to what Evangelion does to shounen/mecha shows, though in a much less brutal fashion. This doesn't mean it is any less emotional and intriguing however, and while I can't deny that Eva is probably the anime I think is most close to perfection, I think I might consider Utena to be my favorite (for now at least). There are many others I could recommend, but I decided to promote two lesser known shows along with one of the most ubiquitous to give a bit of variety. Alyssa Smith also recommended Tatami Galaxy which is also excellent, and deserves to be watched by everyone looking for a thought provoking/deep (and funny) anime.

Anonymous

Voted for Monogatari because I have no idea how you would discuss this series as a whole. There is so much going on.

Anonymous

I think we need fewer options next time.

Anonymous

Voted for Monster, I think is the only anime I've seen that could effortless be turned into a live action series and also it'll be the only way to make that series be better. As with Berserk monster explores the dark side of human nature. I think a short way to describe the concept would be with a Bloodborne quote that says; "Acts of goodness are not always wise, and acts of evil are not always foolish, but regardless, we shall always strive to be good."

Anonymous

Honey and Clover, Yakitate Japan, and Ranma 1/2.

Anonymous

If it's not already something you're considering on your giant list, I'd recommend Gintama. Most people probably know it as a comedy anime, and when it's funny. it's probably the funniest thing I've ever seen, but that's not all there is to Gintama. It has story arcs where things get pretty crazy, and they're just sooooo good!

Oni

You guys have got to get to ReZero at some point, the game references are a must.

Anonymous

Also, I voted for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, as it never seems to get quite the love I feel it should get. Everything on that list would be great choices, but I feel that one in particular would do well from more exposure.

Anonymous

Hi guys! There is an anime that came out around 8 years ago that I found rather moving but didn't get much buzz. It's called Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. It might get over looked for awhile since you guys have so much great material to talk about/watch, but I highly recommend it.

Anonymous

Really looking forward to see this. Love and Respect.

Anonymous

FLCL, the GOAT anime.

Anonymous

Definitely putting up my vote for Monogatari. It's actually the only one on this list I've seen. Also, I wish you guys would consider more lighthearted anime for this show too, like maybe Himouto! Umaru-chan. Every show on this list seems to be quite serious.

Brandon Robinson

I would KILL for an in depth EVA analasys/discussion between you two lol

Anonymous

Also, we should all share our anime lists if you have one. Link to mine: <a href="https://myanimelist.net/animelist/kagami77" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/animelist/kagami77</a> Does Ben or Brad have an anime list?

Anonymous

Great new voting system. Always excited to see folks move away from fpp. L&amp;r.

Anonymous

Why isn't Family Guy on the list?

Anonymous

I can't resist Naruto!!!

Anonymous

I'll vote for Monster until it wins! I hope you guys do FullMetal Alchemist at some point. (If either of you haven't seen it then it's best to watch both animes in release order)

Anonymous

Try Knights Of Sidonia on netflix really good, one that I dont hear a lot of people talking about

Anonymous

I agree with this sentiment and I'll thow in my own recommendation, Kiniro Mosaic.

Anonymous

Hmmm, maybe Usagi Drop? Definitely do FMA Brotherhood and then talk about how watching the original FMA makes Brotherhood even better because they flesh things out more.

Anonymous

Do you plan on waiting to do Hunter X Hunter with Kyle? Because along with Berserk those are probably my two favorite anime/manga, and I'd love to see some discussion on that.

Anonymous

Trigun is my favorite

Anonymous

I ended up voting FLCL because of length but my heart wants naruto. It might be good to break a longer anime down to a specific number of episodes or arcs. I feel like naruto could easily warrant several episodes on it's own lol. Also it might be cool to pick an anime currently airing as a second segment so people could watch along with you guys so they don't miss out on the podcast if they haven't watched the main topic anime.

Anonymous

Kind of curious what you guys think about the films" Summer Wars" or "Your Name is...?"

kaizerlith

Not an anime but clearly anime inspired you should check out Steven Universe a jolly yet emotional cartoon.

Anonymous

Man i need to watch more anime :(

Where is full metal???

Anonymous

I hope the shrek series gets some love too

kaizerlith

Also Gurren Lagann is a must for this list

Anonymous

I would like to recommend "Your lie in April" it's not an action packed fighting anime so not sure if it will ever make the list but I heard good things about it last year from another podcast and decided to watch an episode, was then hooked, one of my favourites now.

Anonymous

For the love of yourselves please read the One Piece manga before/or better yet instead of the One Piece Anime, you will thank yourselves later.

Anonymous

I really feel like Space Dandy is some of the best. It's by the guy that made Cowboy Bebop, but I like Space Dandy twice as much.

Anonymous

I'm so happy that you guys know "Monster". This anime is pure art!

Anonymous

Been circling Berserk for a while but I definitely will be giving series a watch now! Also here's a recommendation list of 5 series I think you guys might like. Anime Series Recommendations: ["Legend of the Galactic Heroes" (1988)] <a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/820" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/anime/820</a> Premise: The story of a galaxy size-conflict that follows the careers of two brilliant military tacticians as they and their wage a brutal war based on their convictions on society. Why Watch: Long &amp; strong narrative, massive tactically detailed space battles, Love &amp; Respect: the space-war. ["Cowboy Bebop" (1998)] <a href="https://youtu.be/gY5nDXOtv_o" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/gY5nDXOtv_o</a> <a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/1/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/anime/1/</a> Premise: A critically acclaimed series, featuring the adventures of a laid back crew of bounty hunters and their respective coming-to-terms with their dark pasts. Why Watch: Gorgeously animated fights, fun self-contained narratives, excellent jazz music. ["Gundam 08th MS Team" (1996)] <a href="https://youtu.be/HJVC_d1tMLc" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/HJVC_d1tMLc</a> <a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/81" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/anime/81</a> Premise: A grunt-in-the-trenches story that follows a small federation Gundam squad as they attempt to combat Zeon's operations in southeast Asia. Why Watch: Tactical mobile suit combat, Metal Slug-vibes, not in space (jungle/city combat) ["Baccano!" (2007)] <a href="https://youtu.be/W5bn87yvh_g" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/W5bn87yvh_g</a> <a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/2251" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/anime/2251</a> Premise: A bold mobster-narrative set in the 1930's that threads together multiple events and a massive cast into a single story (the story is literally told backward). Why Watch: Brisk &amp; witty humor, a strong sense of style, unconventional story structure. ["The Big O" (1999)] <a href="https://youtu.be/BK_HTdn3NPE" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/BK_HTdn3NPE</a> <a href="https://myanimelist.net/anime/567" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://myanimelist.net/anime/567</a> Premise: What if instead of a suit, Bruce Wayne piloted a massive Mecha with pneumatic air-canons arms...and had amnesia? The rare result of Sunrise (Gundam's production company) partnering with Cartoon Network, Big O is real piston-punching treat. Why Watch: Pacific Rim mixed with elements Bruce Timm's Batman, intriguing mystery plot, the air punches are VERY gratifying.

Anonymous

You already have Monogatari listed but there is a show by the same writer called Katanagatari which I would highly recommend, it's one of my all time faves.

Anonymous

I always want to recommend Princess Tutu, because it gets no love. It sounds stupid, but it's a great show about stories and music.

Anonymous

Add Mushishi, Kaiba, and Ping Pong the Animation. The last two are directed by Masaaki Yuasa. He always brings in an art style like nothing else in anime. Kaiba might be a bit hard to track down since it was never picked up by a publisher in the US. It's totally worth it though; by far my favorite anime. And Mushishi is just excellent.

Anonymous

Dude, I was going to suggest Samurai Champloo and Zankyou no Terror because I feel those are the lesser known Watanabe animes. Most would have surely watched Cowboy Bebop. But then I see your comment and there's a treasure trove of anime that looks like I'll be interested in. One of the best things about EZAnime is probably the huge number of anime fans that I'm pleased to discover. Can't wait for all the anime suggestions, that I've not seen, on here.

Anonymous

I would highly recommend Clannad seasons one and two. It's a wonderful slice of life that started life as a VN.

Anonymous

Overlord

Anonymous

I would like to listen to a bit of the Dragonball Universe, and i am in to one punsh man, are your guys seen it??

Anonymous

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

Anonymous

Hajime no Ippo. Always Hajime no Ippo.

Anonymous

This may be a super "vanilla" list, but I took about a decade off Anime and am just starting to get back into it. This is the stuff I've enjoyed: Obviously Cowboy Bebop. Food Wars Rurouni Kenshin One Punch Man Death Note Attack on Titan Sword Art Online Ghost in the Shell: SAC ReLife Yuri on Ice Currently working through HunterxHunter

Anonymous

I completely agree with Jim Fitzgerald above, Mushishi and Ping Pong the Animation are phenomenal and are definitely worth a watch.

Anonymous

Just a note for me, also - I find it real intimidating to get into anything "late" Like I know I'm never going to start watching One Piece. There's too much of it. HunterxHunter is something I started without actually knowing how many episodes there were - and now that I know there's more than 100, I'm kinda stuck like 30 in. I like shorter series, or series like Food Wars/One Punch/Titan that are more current and I can sit down and binge watch over the course of a weekend.

David Rodríguez Madriñán

Cowboy Bebop must be on that list already so... Hajime no Ippo (which someone already sent you as a present) and Ajin: Demi:human, which is very similar to Death Note but with less teenage stuff, so I ended up liking it even more. Don't let the 3D animation fool you, it's amazing every minute, and it doesn't have a lot of episodes.

Anonymous

Four shows that you should definitely talk about: Baccano! Durarara!! Paranoia Agent Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit I'll be sure to give each anime podcast a listen when I have time

Anonymous

Inferno Cop - Saved anime. Literally. Space Patrol Luluco - Double-saved anime The Time of Eve - Short series that does a great job with questions pertaining to AI and humanity 5CM Per Second - Shinkai reminds us that anime characters don't have to devolve into caricatures, especially when it comes to romance. Space Brothers - Watch a middle-aged man switch careers to become an astronaut and cheer for him the whole way Cromartie High School - Great cast, great comedy. Although some haters think one of the characters is a robot which is down right rude. The Tatami Galaxy - People in the comments have already talked about why at lengths.

Anonymous

Are these all anime that one of the allies have watched/enjoyed? I really liked bakemonogatari, for example, but it is a very polarizing show and I'm not sure a podcast without any enthusiasm would be all that fun to watch.

Anonymous

I want to give a very strong recommendation to “Giant Robo The Animation” also known as “Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still.” This is perhaps the most criminally overlooked anime of all time and it deserves more recognition. Produced in the 90’s this 7 episode OVA is a celebration of 60’s manga and anime with modern production values. The series pulls characters from a variety of series and while they are generally true to their source material both in design and personality they have their own history in this story which requires no prior knowledge. In fact, it’s probably best to go into Giant Robo knowing as little as possible and figure things out as they are revealed to you. This mashup results in a wild mix of genres and yet somehow everything works and manages to feel organic. Everything about the presentation is well thought out from the excellent music recorded live by the Warsaw Philharmonic to the well written story that will keep you engaged and surprise you with twists up to the very end. It’s a fantastic series and one that anyone with even a passing interest in anime should give a chance. And for those who enjoy it there are also 3 bonus episodes to be viewed afterwards (2 of which are funny and the 3rd is serious but non-canon) if you can’t get enough. There are 2 English dubs for this series and while the first one (the LA dub) is hot garbage while the second (the NY dub) is fantastic and you can tell that the actors were really giving their all. I know that I risk overselling it with all of this praise but I really think you’ll be impressed if you give it a chance. If you’re curious for a peak but want to avoid spoilers then have a look at these, both of which are from the first episode: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VemrhM9Y35M" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VemrhM9Y35M</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfgmhLFB8X8" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfgmhLFB8X8</a>

Needs more Hajime No Ippo. The world needs more Dempsey roll.

The obvious answer is Steins Gate but that show needs to be watched at a slower pace compared to most others. Don't try and rush through it, take your time and you'll get the most out of it.

Anonymous

Im surprised to see monogatari series up there especially considering there is no legal way to watch them all unless you give up both kidneys to aniplex haha. Also shock to see Zetsubou Sensei. I just want to thank you guys for starting this all off with berserk. It is my favorite Manga series of ALL TIME and would love to hear you and brad's in depth opinionso and discussion on it. Stay easy allies

Anonymous

It's gotta be Jojo. Please everyone

neet-oh

Black Lagoon!

Anonymous

Jojo is great, but Monster ist a masterpiece amongst masterpieces and I gotta give my vote to it, even though it doesn't look like it'll win :( (well, all anime on the list are great...except for Naruto :) ) btw Just a minor nitpick: Maybe you should mention all the formats the series you're talking about exists as (like in Berserks case: Manga, 90s Anime, 3 mostly CGI Movies and 1 mostly CGI Series with one more coming 2017)

iyArashi

I highly recommend Steins;Gate as well. And if at some point you guys ever have about 40 hours of time to spare, try to play the visual novel too since it's the source material for the anime.

Anonymous

What about Blazblue? Or Deathnote?

poet3991

where is evangelion?

Anonymous

only one i watched is Naruto, so my vote is all but Naruto :)

Anonymous

i recommend Baccano! a rellay good anime not particulary long (12 episodes)

Anonymous

I would also love to hear a discussion about Death Note and Dragon Ball Super

Dtzy_Dtzy

I'm just here to shill for Shirobako, the best non-tryhard anime!

Anonymous

@Ian, Brad, Ben &amp; Huber Please give Madoka a chance! Only 12 eps long, the less you know the better! #EZAnime

Anonymous

Cowboy Bebop is easily the best anime ever made, HOWEVER - I would love a discussion about Samurai Champloo, Shinichiro Watanabe's follow-up to Bebop. It is insanely familiar yet totally different and I love it, dearly. Thanks fellas.

Anonymous

Please, never do Haruhi Suzumiya.

Anonymous

At some point Erased has to be a topic of discussion. It's not just a terrific anime, but one of the greatest shows of all time. 12 episodes so it's not that much of a commitment and there's so much to unpack in those episodes.

Anonymous

Would love to hear you guys discuss Kimi No Na Wa, Kokoro Connect, Kids on the Slope, The Tatami Galaxy, Michiko to Hatchin and NANA to name a few. Macross would be awesome, though it's hard to find outside of Japan. Don't know if this would work, but would be interesting to here you guys talk about certain studios and creators, and their works. Don't forget to talk about Evangelion one of these days. :)

Anonymous

Might be cool to do a Ghibli themed episode leading up to Ni No Kuni 2.

Anonymous

Srsly voting poll ? They've been blabing about Jojo since the GT days; ....

Anonymous

IMO, I think the podcast would be more interesting if you guys focused on discussing non "entry level" anime. Imagine if there was a video game podcast that was like "This month we're discussing Call of Duty! Next month, Skyrim!". I'm going to suggest Ping Pong: The Animation. Basically a battle anime, but the battles are ping pong. Unique art style, great writing, and touches themes including death, maturity, social pressure, all sorts of stuff.

Anonymous

Probably a ways off, but I'd love to hear what you guys think of Hunter X Hunter.

Madoka Magica. Dead serious. If you haven't seen it, its only 12 episodes. Go in without any information if possible. Watch at least the first 3 episodes, get hooked, and binge the rest. Thank me later.

Anonymous

Hell yes, I'm watching this now. Prime 90's animation right there.

Anonymous

I usually don't watch Anime but "FLCL" is one of my favorites. I would also like to recommend/suggest "Great Teacher Onizuka".

Anonymous

Another excellent podcast. Recently just finished up Hellsing Ultimate so it's pretty fresh on my mind and would love to hear your take. FLCL is one of my all time favorites and with the second season in the works, definitely some interesting topics to dig into. Love &amp; Respect.

Chris H

Monogatari, FLCL, Hellsing and Code Geass are amazing anime/manga. I'm glad I didn't have to pick only one... I wonder who here has read Sun-ken Rock?

Chris H

GTO Is one of my favorite. I just wish they would make an anime from the sequels.

Anonymous

I know I would probably be in the minority here but I would love a DragonBall Z episode. We all know the story but perhaps tell us your first impressions and how you feel it changed anime in general.

Anonymous

I see from the previous 172 comments that no one here has any opinions about anime, so I will use this space to say "Yu Yu Hakusho and Kill la Kill. When?"

Anonymous

If no one mentioned it, Full Metal Panic. Its not that long and 3 distinct series which are all great. Amazing mix of serious and comedy

Anonymous

Great teacher Onizuka, Lain, Samurai Champloo, Silver Spoon, Higarashi, but pls pls pls pls pls Watch Mushishi. Even if it is not for the show, I would recommend Mushishi to anyone. Mushishi is a must for anyone who loves Japanese folklore.

Anonymous

No Hunter x Hunter option? That's not nice.

Anonymous

Awesome first episode guys, would love to recommend both Ergo Proxy and Texnholyze. They're both sci-fi anime (not mecha) with very somber atmospheres. L&amp;R!

Anonymous

Is on that giant list the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya?

Anonymous

Hunter x Hunter (2011) is one of the greats! And it's one of Kyle's favorites. Can't go wrong with that one.

Anonymous

Zetsubou sensei may not win but I appreciate it being there. Its a fantastic dark comedy.

Anonymous

I'm not sure if it's up your alley, but I cannot recommend Your Lie in April enough. One of my favorite anime in recent memory.

Anonymous

Gotta go with Jojo from these but I'd love an episode o FLCL too and since that's so short you could probably go pretty in depth. Also I'd obviously love a Hunter x Hunter episode with Kyle but lets save that for a while.

Anonymous

Also Gurren Lagann is my favourite anime so if you want to do an episode for that at some point I'd be very happy about it, ha.

Anonymous

One Punch Man needs to get in there sometime

Anonymous

The Neptunia anime (dub)

Anonymous

If they do JoJo next I hope they at least finish part 4 cause I would love to hear their thoughts on some of the stuff near the end.

Anonymous

hajime no ippo otherwise known as fighting spirit needs to be added to the list for future weeks. So awesome, got me so interested in boxing I watched the Rocky series of movies immediately after finishing the anime.

Anonymous

Are you guys only covering Japanese stuff like Manga and anime, or is Korean Manhwa also on the table ?

Anonymous

Hunter X Hunter pretty please

Anonymous

Gintama and Great Teacher Onizuka would be very nice!

Anonymous

¿ Would you rather talk about series many people are familiar with (e.g. Naruto), or lesser known gems ? I would like a 2nd copy of this list, to distinguish between series people don't care about from series people don't know. I'm pretty sure not enough people have heard of "sayōnara, Zetsubō-sensē".

Anonymous

Oh Snap, Another vote for Hunter X Hunter with a guest appearance from Kyle! That would be sick.

Anonymous

Wrote a comment on the YouTube episode but an anime worth mentioning is Gantz. I really got into that.

Anonymous

I can recommend a lot of well known anime but how about one a bit older that isn't as well known! The Slayers is what I recommend! 5 Seasons, get started!

Anonymous

Some very good choices so far! I'm going to recommend Bakuman. I feel like you could have some really interesting discussions about a series that follows the life of a manga creator and goes behind the scenes of Shonen Jump.

Anonymous

Would love Jojo seasons one and two specifically!

Anonymous

Please have Full Metal Alchemist as an option in a future month! Cheers!

Anonymous

I would suggest that you add Silver Spoon to the list. My wife just found it on Netflix. It's about students in a Agricultural High School, and it goes into how the students react to how animals are handled in real life as well as ideas about starting your own business and being successful in managing that sort of thing. I farm figs for a living and my wife studied animal science in college, so to see a take on Japanese agriculture was really interesting for us as a cultural study. It's also pretty funny in its own regard. It would be a huge change of pace but may be fun to consider.

Anonymous

Highly Recommend Gintama. Anybody who enjoys anime needs to catch up on this incredible series

Anontastic

Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins) is the bomb right now, since you guys are into shounen fantasy-action stuff.

Anonymous

Oh shit, can't wait for you guys to do Monster... probably be a while before it wins the vote but it's such an underappreciated anime.

Anonymous

If I can suggest, I would add Ghost in The Shell seasons 1 &amp; 2. Amazing art and a thought provoking world. It's a fun ride to watch before the movie comes out. Also, Neon Genesis Evagelion. It's strangly weird but has fantastic robots. Who doesn't like giant robots?

Anonymous

My suggestions are My Hero Academia, One Punch Man, and Erased. I voted for Haikyuu!! Love that show

Anonymous

Gurren Lagann!!!!

Anonymous

Seeing as you guys have such fun on Tabletop Escapades, I recommend reading Dungeon Meshi, a cooking manga set in a D&amp;D dungeon, basically. It's also not that long (so far) since it's a monthly series. Well, Even if you never mention it on a show ever, I just think you guys would really enjoy the world building and comedy.

Anonymous

I would love to see you guys discuss Ranma 1/2. It's 7 seasons long, so I don't expect you guys to do so if you already haven't watched it.

Anonymous

I'll wait patiently for Monster~

Anonymous

I would like Evangelion to be added to the list potentials.

Anonymous

You guys should do Patlabor at some point. Or for more of a parody of mecha anime, Martian Successor Nadesico.

Trey Thompson

I'm going to recommend Hajime no Ippo. It's full of hype moments, a main character who actually has to train to become strong, and lots of great fights. Plus the music is SOOO good.

Anonymous

ONE PUUUUUUUUNCH!!!

Anonymous

I've been trying to get them to Madoka as well... I'm sure that Ian would adore it, Brad would hard-dive into it once it goes full Faust and Huber would be talking about the VIBES. Ben would just proceed to buy the Kami Madoka figure :p

Rico P.

FLCL is in the lead? Good to see people with good taste :)

Rico P.

Just saw Jojo. Well FLCL then for episode 3~

Anonymous

I would recommend doing a "Guilty Pleasures" Anime episode, where you talk about anime that you know its pretty bad but still somehow liked it enough. You could talk about more than one anime in the show and just talk why is it a guilty pleasure for you, keeping it short and simple.

Anonymous

I was pleasantly surprised to see Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei on the list! I know it won't win but I had to give it my vote.

Anonymous

Robotech, the original US Anime

Anonymous

I live for a FMA:B podcast!

Great first episode guys, a total delight. I have a request masquerading as a suggestion if that's alright. As it stands the series list is devoted to extended works that require a few hours investment at least, if not serious long term devotion in the case of shows like Naruto. Do you think there might be a space for anime shorts on EZAnime? Just a five minute segment to shine a light on those one off or very slight gems that aren't often discussed outside of occasional blogs and forum posts scattered around the internet. I'm thinking of things like Satoshi Kon's "Ohayo" which at exactly a minute long is a perfect and gorgeous jewel of visual storytelling. Any of the many treasures that come from the Japan Animator's Expo would work too, or if you're willing to stretch to something a bit longer there's short films like Cencoroll at just under 30 minutes, or mini series like Wakakozake, which is comprised of 12 episodes, each a breezy 2 minutes long. The enterprise might even work best if neither of you have seen the given work before and get a chance to discuss something new for the first time. I know you've both got a lot on, thanks for taking the time to read this and ganbare going forward.

Anonymous

You should watch Rwby!!

Anonymous

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal is my favorite OVA of all time and is what inspired me to become an artist and FMA is a super close second.

Anonymous

Toss up between FLCL and Code Geass for me. FLCL seems like the fun choice I suppose. Gurren Lagann though!! Also really into that Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for some reason... maybe not one to be talked about though lol.

Anonymous

How about a structure where you let the patrons pick for one month and then Brad and Ben choose one the month after? It may allow some less popular shows that they enjoy to get some attention.

Anonymous

Fairy Tail!

havik

I hope you do Ergo Proxy or Seirei no Moribito , I really love those two anime and go back to them from time to time.

Anonymous

Hunter x Hunter. I found that their spin on the genre is entertaining and that it grows well with the audience as it tackled darker themes

Anonymous

This is an old post but Neon Genesis Evangelion needs to be on this list sometime.
