Packing Up the Forums (Patreon)

Bloodworth here to share the bittersweet news that we’ll be closing the Easy Allies Forums effective March 1, 2023. https://forums.easyallies.com/ I wanted to give everyone a few weeks heads up so you can save any posts that you want to hang onto or find alternate ways to connect.

We added the forums when the site launched to keep that long-running heritage from the GameTrailers community and to provide ways to keep in touch with us outside of Patreon and social media. As the years have gone by, though, it just hasn’t been as popular of a place to congregate, and admittedly, our own interest in the space has waned as well.

The good news is that we still have great ways to connect, particularly through our official patron Discord. Gabby and the mods have done a wonderful job of curating the Discord channels, continually adding new emotes, and regularly creating community events. The fact is that Discord is where most of our community has been moving for quite some time, and pulling the plug on the forums is well-past due. The forums haven’t aged well, spam bots regularly find their way through, and some bits have been busted for a while.

I know there are still a few folks who will be disappointed with this news regardless, but it makes more sense for us to focus on where our community is active and engaged than to spend extra energy and resources on trying to revamp the old space. I want to thank everyone who’s participated in Hall of Greats and GOTY threads, shared their art, tracked bets, and more. You are absolutely welcome to continue those threads in the Discord, if an equivalent isn’t there already. I know it personally took me a while to get comfortable with Discord’s setup, but it has truly become a much better experience with a passionate team who are continually making improvements. So look at this more as a moving day than an ending, and we’ll see you soon.
