Bloodworth here,

After months of work, Part 1 of our Deus Ex Retrospective is finally up. Michael Huber played, captured, and wrote the section on Deus Ex, and Bradley Ellis did Deus Ex: Invisible War - after we got an Xbox to him since the PC versions weren't working on modern systems. I helped tidy up both scripts, but Brandon Jones did a ton of work crafting the flow and editing like a madman.

Brandon wrapped up just an hour or so before a planned drive to the Grand Canyon, but I know he'd especially want to thank all of our Patrons for  making this possible. Hitting that goal for Retrospectives is something we didn't think would happen for a long time, if ever, and you smashed it within the first few days. We've likewise paid in many late nights, and we're thrilled to finally deliver on our side of that goal.

We hope you enjoy it! Thank you again, and look forward to Part 2 mid-next week.

Awesome work everybody!

I'm not a fan of Deus Ex and I've never played the games but I want to say this was fantastically done. I was really looking forward to this, not because of the property, but the hard work put into it. I especially love the incorporation of the font in the Specter quotes. But what I enjoy most of all is the time it took to capture the footage and going into every in-depth detail about the series. I'm looking forward to part 2, but for now: Great job Allies! Really proud of your dedication and hard work!

When Gametrailers shut down, I messaged all of you on Twitter saying "start a Patreon, you'll get my money!". This video is the epitome of why you get my $25 a month - a clear focus NOT ONLY on entertaining, interesting content....but also a laser focus on quality. Calling you guys "best in the biz" is a common phrase used in these parts, but it can't be understated. You guys ARE the best creators in this business. Hands down. All nine of you are a credit to the industry and I'm proud to be one of your patrons. I would say "keep up the good work", but all you guys do is improve on a daily basis. Just keep doing you 💪🏻

Very well done the only thing i am disappointed in is after the mention of being able to save Paul you didn't talk about the whole option branch of the story in invisible war involving a fellow trainee that if you continue to help will survive untill then end of the game and join you as a powerful ally who broaches the subject of the hidden hardest 4th ending in which you fight and kill all factions. This too this date is my favorite hidden ending as this results in the apprent end of humanity and yet gives rise to the next evolution of Aug that can survive anywhere. Granted part of that endin was cut into the footage at least.

Thanks for all your hard work on the retrospective! It was soooo good! How about plugging patron at the end of the video? :)

Vincent

Thank you so much for making this, it's so well done! Not going to lie, it got me a little emotional after an emotional embargo lift day. Thank you!

My favourite video game of all time being covered as the first EZA retrospective. I never asked for this, but I'm beyond happy that you guys have! Much love to all the Allies for their efforts, maximum level DX HYPE!!!

Great stuff Allies! Best in the biz.

Thoroughly enjoined this. Very good production values. Please work on getting your other videos up to this standard. Make us happy

Excellent retrospective. Incidentally I only just dove into my first experience with a Deus Ex game last weekend. I never played the first two Deus Ex games. Somehow I just missed them. I decided to finally give Deus Ex: Human Revolution a try. So far it's interesting. This retrospective has explained a lot about how to play Human Revolution via the design elements you showed from the first two games. I appreciate it. I look forward to part 2 of this retrospective.

EasyAllies

Be warned, part 2 will be quite spoiler heavy if you're currently playing Human Revolution now. You've got a few days to work on it though.

Excellent work guys

Great job guys, was well worth the wait.

Well done! I like that.

Fantastic work! I'm incredibly excited to see part 2 of this next week. Deus Ex played an instrumental part of broadening my gaming horizons and opening the door for my chance to experience the whole breadth of the gaming world. Human Revolution also incidentally ended up being one of my favorite games of the last decade and was a stupendous return to form so I can't wait to see it honored next time!

@EasyAllies, your dedication to produce meaningful, honest, positive, and entertaining content is why we love you guys. In my eyes, the current crew has never failed to deliver the awesomeness that is video games hype. Keep up the good work Allies!

Awesome work, thank you for bringing back retrospectives! Can't help but notice that there's no pitch for Patreon at the end of the video though ... any reason for being selective about which videos get those? Given that retrospectives were hugely popular and might be again it feels like your missing an opportunity by not putting a Patreon pitch at the end of every video, even a canned one.

Great work guys!

YES !!!

Excellent retrospective so far!

Awesome job ! i would have picked a different font for the annotation (or what do you call them. ) I know typography was a big problem in the GT days; thats why i wanted to make it a point of mentioning it. Yellow is almost never a good idea for something that people need to read, and for the type i would have choosen a basic sans-serif and stick with it for all the videos; just a Basic Helvetica or Haas. Still, amazing job, looking forward to part Deux !

Anonymous

Ohhhh man that was lovely!

Anonymous

Yes! Yes! YES! Thank you for getting this back. Absolutely phenomenal job guys! I never knew the history of Dues Ex and now I know. Such an engrossing way to do it too, incredibly interesting to watch and listen to, incredible pacing all throughout. Keep that pacing and structure for the future ones please!

The promise of retrospectives was why I became a patron. Now, after seeing the first EZA Retrospective, that hasn't changed. Fantastic all around.

Anonymous

You are all working to pull up the quality we will all expect from our creators in the future. I thank you for setting the bar and for the clear, authentic passion you have in your work. Respect.

Anonymous

Wow, great job guys. This must have been a ton of work but the result is stellar. Thank you so much!

Nice retrospective, although there wasn't much new info for a die hard Deus Ex fan like me. People who haven't played these games, ESPECIALLY the original, definitely need to jump on em. Invisible War is skippable though, and this retrospective made me feel like it was worse than I remembered. :[

Extremely well done; please don't forget to plug your Patreon at the end of your videos though! Don't preface or do it during the video to keep the content 'pure', but it does no damage to tack it to the end.
