On today's Frame Trap, we get heated about Nintendo! NX reports have our imaginations running wild and we offer up some ideas that we'd like to see on the upcoming console. There's also quite a bit of chatter about Another Metroid 2 Remake, Abzu, Overwatch, World of Warcaraft: Legion, Batman: The Telltale Series, Pokemon Omega Ruby, Batman: The Killing Joke, and The Night Of. (Timestamps included on YouTube and the audio feeds).

I tried another game for this episode and it didn't exactly work out as intended. I'm totally okay with it however since I think the discussion is interesting regardless. As always, I'm curious what you think, so please leave your feedback below.

Love these long episodes. Only low point for me was your taste in Mt. Dew flavors... never cared for Code Red, but at least we can agree on Baja Blast being a great one!

This podcast has quickly turned into one of my favorites. Those games you come up with are hilarious

Having never played Journey, I thought Abzu was a real joy. Per Huber's recommendation, play on a nice summer day with the window open (one sitting). After you're done, close the blinds, pop open a bottle of wine, and play Inside (again, one sitting). I was equally stunned by both in so entirely different ways. What a year 2016 has been.

I definitely resonated with you on Pokemon, Ben. People always give the complaint that Pokemon never changes and while the core mechanics never really change, to me they're solid and fun. But the reason why I love new Pokemon games is the sense of discovery of the new region, gyms, elite four, and the Pokemon. Each new game is a wonderful, joy-filled journey! I also agree with you on Pokemon exuding positivity.

To play Devil's Advocate against Damiani's point against gimmick controllers, and not doing something weird, and if you do, at least leave the option for normal controllers: This view stifles innovation. Everything we see standard was once a new idea. To set new standards you need to innovate. You could argue "leave the option" for normal controls, but again, that's stifling innovation. Sometimes you need to lock out the normal option so you can push the innovation to its limit. Making new things and seeing them fail is okay. When things fail, we can identify why it failed and improve. For example, motion controls can be seen as shitty. But now, the refined method of having a "normal" controller with gyro should be standard. Gyro improves upon game in a lot of ways; from subtle details like in Zelda games (bow and arrow, or just generally first person view) to huge changes in gameplay like Splatoon. Life's full of infinite possibilities. So there could be controllers out there that we have yet to imagine, that could be so much better than our current standard. We'll never reach those new heights without being risky and innovative The problem unfortunately is that it's Nintendo doing this risky stuff. And Nintendo has such a great library of IP, that it's disappointing when they attach such a great franchise to a failed innovative concept.

I'm playing Overwatch on PS4 and there are alot of snipers. I usually end up with atleast one sniper every game. Sometimes even more (sure, mostely Hanzos).

The thing that just makes me furious about Blizzard and Overwatch is how these Rio skins are put into the boxes as Brad said. However, I think you guys understate how awful the rate at which you unlock legendary skins is. It is nearly impossible to get all of the skins, even if you buy boxes. People have purchased up to like 200 boxes on Youtube and still don't get all of the items. It's just absurd that they shove them into the normal rng bullshit boxes taht are stuffed with literally nearing a thousand useless items nobody cares about, just so that we're tempted into buying boxes....and you know, this idea of gambling then targeted at children also. It's all made worse by Kaplan's responses too. Just the general tone and the way he kinda talks as if we should be grateful for everything, when they specifically said that we'd always be able to purchase skins.

Hey Guys - nice episode! Your Overwatch talk made me wonder if gyro assisted aiming on consoles will ever become the norm. I think about this all the time, and I think it would be great. Case 1: Splatoon. Once you get used to those controls, other console shooters feel stiff and weird by comparison. (Maybe excluding Overwatch, I play on PS4 and the the controls feel super smooth and tight.) Case 2: Wind Waker HD. Play first with the Gamepad - gyro assist aiming on the bow is great for fine tuning your shot. Then try playing with the beloved Pro Controller. It's like night and day. Any thoughts on using the gyros in PS4/Wii U/etc for aiming in future? Could this somewhat bridge the gap between console and PC?

Great episode, though Huber saying "Oh you know Telltale games are cheap, I can excuse the jankyness", I don't understand. Telltale has money, big pockets, to make a finished game now. They're not "indie level" anymore. Also : why would a 20 dollar game be excused for being a technical disaster ? Hyperlight Drifter is 20 bucks or so, no technical problem, Abzu also no technical problem, Steamworld Heist too etc etc... I like that Easy Allies is all about staying positive, but sometimes you have to point out the terrible practices of some developers, I know Konami is an easy target for example, and Telltale seems to have some kind of unlimited free pass card, and I hope videogame medias stop excusing them.

Your talks about how easy Pokemon stories can be and extra lives reminded me about how much more fun Pokemon is to play when you self-impose permadeath on your team. If someone gets knocked out, you have to either release them or dump them into a graveyard box in your PC and never use them again. It so much more intense because you're always in fear of random enemy critical attacks and self-destructs that can potentially one-shot your best guy. This also means you can't really get away with leveling just one guy, because if he dies, you're screwed.

have you played batman yet? It's a pretty smooth game. Had no issues with it

Don't understand Brad's comments on Pokemon: (Paraphrasing) "I don't play Pokemon because it's always the same." "I played the first one, and then I tried another one later but it was too different so I couldn't get into it!"

Huber, Jared Leto's Joker is abysmal. Heath's projected a sense of order in the chaos, but Leto's is just nonsense. He's like Scarface with a horrible sense of humor. It's so painfully obvious that it's a sane person try-harding to act insane. How can you even defend this rationally? This needs to be an entire Huber Syndrome episode.

Where do you stand on my personal favorite Mt Dew, Livewire? Do they even make it anymore?

Anonymous

I love the name Frame Trap.

Regarding loot boxes, it's easy, they want you to pay us dollars for them... That's why the summer Olympics items are random and cannot be purchased with in game currency.

Hey Huber! You said you're open to all Batman interpretations - I think the most chilling version I've seen is in A Serious House on Serious Earth. If you haven't read it, I recommend it! <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkham_Asylum:_A_Serious_House_on_Serious_Earth" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkham_Asylum:_A_Serious_House_on_Serious_Earth</a>

I can't believe the disrespect of not even mentioning Mountain Dew Livewire. It's the best.

Played Overwatch on PS4. Lots of snipers during my time.

Hey guys, is there any chance that you could start uploading frametrap to SoundCloud too? Been following you guys since GT, for about a decade. You guys have had a large influence on my passion for gaming. I listen to your podcasts while I deliver pizza, makes work podcast time for me. Makes work something to look forward to. Keep up the excellent work!

Ben, I know you have a soft voice, but when you read questions you start speaking even softer and faster making it harder to understand. Maybe try to increase your diction and enunciate more?

Not fearing or getting frustrated by death in Dark Souls and Bloodborne is part of the point

Have you guys tried the new Mt. Dew, Black Label? It's pretty good.

Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks both suck, and it has nothing to do with the controls.

Nintendo's trophy system should be the Smash Bros trophy system on an OS level. So when you get a trophy in any game, it adds a 3D model trophy to your trophy gallery in the OS.

Another Metroid 2 Remake got shut down (the game will still be alive in torrents): <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1259976" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1259976</a>

Just a suggestion, but instead of what have you been playing, I would love to see a single game discussed. Nominate a game for the panel to play leading up to the show and discuss. I find what have you been playing to be a slow start to the show. By the time everyone talked about the games they played, it feels like the the show is finally starting instead of a segment ending. Love the show regardless. Keep up the good work.

Oh man, Damiani, I played Hourglass and couldn't finish it, I got so frustrated with the controls. I remember seeing that 9.0 on Gametrailers and I was very tempted to try it out! I guess I'm glad I never got to it as it sounds like I would've been just as frustrated as I was with Hourglass.

I literally stopped watching this podcast a few days ago and played AM2R, AWESOME! I came back to watch the rest.

Finally got over my Terra Battle addiction! Ben are you still playing Terra Battle? It seems you are not and still let down by mobile games. Tell me you break up story with Terra Battle please! (Next episode)

I feel like Ben often brings up the fact that he's not too into mobile games. I wonder if he hasn't played some of the gems out there? So here are a few recommendations: The Room series (1,2 &amp;3) are among the best puzzle games I've ever played. They are logical and intuitive. It's also a game that really would only work with touch controls. You feel like you're in that world physically manipulating the puzzles. So good. Rayman Jungle Run is a great platformer. The find a way to make you feel like you're playing a classic rayman game without using crappy virtual buttons. Hitman, Lara Croft, and Deus Ex Go are fun puzzle games. Card Crawl and Dead Man's Draw are nice little cars games. Lastly, Star Realms. This is a digital version of a deck building game that exists in the real world. It's much simpler than others like Dominion/Ascension which makes it perfect for smaller screens. Framed and Monument Valley are also quite good. I hope there are some there that you haven't tried and that you give some a shot. I feel like mobile games get a bad wrap thanks to cash grabs like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans or super light games like angry birds, bejeweled, and flappy birds. There's a lot more out there.
