They say the seaweed is always greener in somebody else’s lake. In Abzu, you’re often guided toward the next map marker, but it also encourages you to stop and appreciate the lively worlds swimming around you. I had never played Abzu before this episode, and I’m glad I chose to. With no dialogue to break up my script, it was an interesting challenge trying to understand the story Abzu is telling, while also cataloging ways that it promotes mindfulness. Even if you don’t keep these lessons in your head, just swimming around for a bit is enough to calm the nerves and clear the brain.

Mindful Games - Abzu

Beneath the waves, Abzu gives players the chance to swim with the fishes and experience their way of life. You’ll be surprised what you can learn from beings that just travel in circles all day. Thank you so SO much for this, Jones. I love it. 10+ hours at work today and knowing that new episode will be up when I get home along with the guided meditation later kept me going, haha. <3
