This is getting up on here a bit late because there were some issues in Patreon's internet tubes but now all is well!

I'm excited to introduce my new show, Easy Update! It's weird. And each episode is probably going to be radically different. So, it's like the weather in the MidWest, if you don't like it, just wait five minutes and it'll change! But I also welcome your input!! Let me know what you think!

Thank you all for everything!!!

Shouldn't It Be Easy? - EASY UPDATE EPISODE ONE

Easy Update the pilot! Ian introduces the show with a song and then plays badminton with friend AJ Locascio! It's gonna be WEIRD.

Fast and lose!

I haven't even press play yet and already I can tell you I love it! "Kick some cheese tonight"

Wow wow!!

Midwest weather joke - playing my crowd, I like it. Really impressed, and love the idea of the show changing from episode to episode. Proud of you man <3

Evan

I love it!

Anonymous

I give it a solid 9.991, Red Red Rollercoaster (Wagon Wheel Red)

Anonymous

Will we get Easy Update Night's

Anonymous

Windows 95!

bad minton lol

We had a discussion about it at NeoGaf and the reactions were mixed. People loved it, thought it was "too loose", not gaming related enough, or just what they expected from you. I really enjoy you Ian, but I didn't really "get" this episode. I understand it's going to be weird and experimental, but it didn't seem related to gaming at all. Enjoyed the camera work and interactions between the both of you though. I look forward to what you have to offer regardless man. <3

Anonymous

Ian it's really great man. Just keep doing what you do. I don't need to "get it" to enjoy it. I was laughing and smiling the whole time. Thanks for putting yourself out there!

Skankman

If that was any more loose, the skin would be off the bone and just collapse in a heap on the floor AKA I loved it. I'm never going to know what to expect every Saturday, am I?

Anonymous

I love that the Patreon app gives me Easy Allies updates on my watch...I need to know the second these new shows come out.

Anonymous

Can we send complaints to that address if they're about that particular Old Spaghetti Factory?

Anonymous

Not going to lie that was odd and confusing but I just couldn't help but smile and chuckle through the whole thing. It was just so relaxed and fun, Ian you're a joy to watch regardless of what you are doing.

Anonymous

my only concern is the length.. i can handle 10 to 20 mins of wierdness

Anonymous

Amazing as usual! Gimme moar!

Eric Plunk

Bloodborne.

Anonymous

Hey Ian, great to see you promote more positivity in the gaming community. Nice contrast to all of the negativity going around. Great show. We're you planning on giving gaming updates via a more casual conversation, as you were with racket??

Anonymous

Autumn Sprinkles.

Anonymous

I expect an original song from you every week now.

Anonymous

Quite nice and refreshing. Seeing your creative side expand further than mixing/conversing is excellent. This showed me a new side of Ian that I think more need to see. My only input based on content alone is maybe shoot for a little longer segment. Splice together some more comfort talk like when laying on the grass and chilling. I really believe the footage was wonderful and the mic situation was palpable. I would not say use those mics all the time, but I do like the sound and idea of using them whenever it seems valuable. Again, great first episode. I am very excited to see what you have in store. More original songs are welcomed as well!

Anonymous

Buddy. Ian. I don't know who this AJ guy is but he's great and stole the show. The dude is a real hoot. Anyway, I like the idea of doing activities with different guests combined with getting a small peak into your daily routine. It's also cool that you have the creative freedom to run with an idea that motivates you, and I look forward to seeing what else you come up with for us. As long as you're having fun, I'm on board.-@nintendom

Anonymous

This was such a nice thing to wake up to! We have more slow and ridged shows on the internet than we know what to do with, I'm more than happy to watch you be you every week, Ian. Also, that song was Windows 95, for sure.

Anonymous

That was a neat first show, Ian! Looking forward to more. My question is a general one about patreon and YouTube: as a patreon is there a way to not always go through the Patreon website to watch shows in advance? I'm never using a computer to watch you guys, either PlayStation or phone and my phone won't always recognize a YouTube link and just open the video in the browser which is usually messed up. Also I don't have space for a Patreon app on my phone. Well technically I have but it always says I don't (I know it's a messed up phone ;p ).

Anonymous

That was great. Awesome randomness. Looking forward to the next one.

Anonymous

I missed you

Anonymous

Serious late fall/winter vibes. Personally, as a fellow film lover i would love to see you bring some more movie talk into your show.

Anonymous

That was wonderfully weird as always. Thanks Ian loved it. Nicely shot intro btw.

LiquidEnder

Well that is a bit fast and loose :)

Andreas Köther

Great show, I loved the song and how it was shot. The outdoor segments were nice, too. I wouldn't mind to expand it into a bit of a vlog style format of Ian showing us "his LA" while he's hanging out with friends or alone. If you want to carry something over from the old shows, in the the long run I'd love for occasional segments where people like Kyle's Jean Paul Janvier or Ben's Otaku personality briefly return and give their opinions on topics.

Anonymous

Great show. I've been pity told size doesn't matter but I think it helps. Off thr back of that a longer show would be sweeeeeet. Otherwise keep it up and great to have you back! Top tune aswellz

Anonymous

Great Easy show Ian, expecting more to come as you have full creative control now!

Anonymous

That was beautiful Ian! Love Easy Update already! Looking forward to seeing more of the show soon! The song was on point and I loved the birdie segment haha! And don't worry, as beauti boiz we know this update is mandatory (;

Anonymous

Ian, good job. It was weird as always, but also creative. The only complaint I have is that there's not enough cheese being kicked.

Anonymous

Yay! <3

Anonymous

The worst thing I can say is that it was too short. Also, I really really need an equivalent of Nights with you and Kyle being weird for 40+ minutes. That was the core of the Gametrailers essence for me.

Anonymous

Weird ... Understatement of the year haha. Had a good laugh. It was all over the place, but that's why we love you Ian. Never change.

Anonymous

Awesome! Love the new show Ian, more please!!

Anonymous

Could you embed this show into the bottom right of the next one, then embed those 2 shows into the bottom right of the following show ... Repeat

Anonymous

A strange and enjoyable way to start Sunday morning. I also like Hook.

Anonymous

Mr. Ironlungs! Solid job. Little on the weird side but, honestly, I wouldn't expect anything less. Interested to see where you take this. Keep it up. Love and respect.

Anonymous

Only critcism: Get a better cameraman for the action sequences. Otherwise, keep it weird.

Anonymous

Ian that song was amazing! :D Great first episode, loved it! Xx

Anonymous

Yes Ian! YES! Absolutely loved the song. Like others in the comments section, I'm both excited to see where you'll take us next, but I also really miss the longer, semi-improvised (and very fast and loose) format of man-ups Nights. Nevertheless, this was a great first episode - I've got an appetite for more. Love & respect!

Anonymous

Pretty weird. I like it. In future: play tennis, talk about things that AJ hates, and eat chocolate ice cream.

Anonymous

Loved the episode, keep doing what you're doing! To say Easy Allies are unique for producing stuff like this within gaming media would be an understatement. Also, after that song I now officially have a crush on Ian.

Anonymous

Hey, fun start :) Can't wait for more. Ian would You mind having some sort of "Indie games segment"? Talk Indies, play Indies, whatever. From Poland with Love, B. Keep it weird.

Anonymous

Marry me, Ian. That falsetto gave me goosebumps.

Anonymous

Magical. Make "Interview a guest while doing some other totally irrelevant task" a regular segment, please!

Anonymous

Ian is off the leash. I love it!

Anonymous

such good randomness lol

Anonymous

I... I guess I can respect this for being "different"? I mean I never got he humor of Mandatory Update, but this is a new high (low?)... Let's see what happens next week.

Anonymous

Never change Ian. I mean unless like, you want to. It's cool to change too.

Anonymous

I enjoyed it. Would watch more. Can't deny I'm still hoping you bring back Mandatory Update though. I really liked the solo Ian with opening monologue incarnation that was running just as GT shut down.

Anonymous

Reeeally looking forward to seeing where this show will be going. Also loving the intro, is it here to stay?

Anonymous

I really enjoy the format of you trying out different segments. If I remember correctly this is how both Jolly Cooperation and Opinion Yell came to be. Who knows which other greatness is yet to be discovered by randomness? I also absolutely loved the opening, it was amazing. I was a sucker for the Mandatory Update Nights format so if you do an Easy Update Nights once in a while I would be beyond stoked.

Anonymous

Great show Ian! Love & respect! Great voice to! Looking forward to next one! (hopefully with better mics)! <3

erni

Welcome home Ian! :) As I commented many times in the olden days: you guys are having way to much fun with this. Glad to see this has not changed^^

Anonymous

I am glad your back to default Ian. Not going to lie, I said an audible wtf, but once I meditated and understood, I can appreciate the randomness. I do however miss ManUps, both the original and the solo version style.

Anonymous

That was like Ian² As good and refreshing as it is to see you be your wonderful badmintonning self, I hope future shows will have more of a developed concept and relation to the rest of Easy Allies. It would be cool to see you introduce another crew member to the world of Ian every week or something. Not really interested in outsiders. Anyway, the intro song was all kinds of awesome!

Anonymous

I really really miss the old (but new) ManUps intro! That was a very good intro. But I'll give this pilot a 9.999 The Quirkiest member of a K-Pop group unsanctioned mood.

Anonymous

Wow. That mood backlash. Super professionally shot, beautiful rendition of an original song, cut, basically the scene from The Room with the footbball. Minus the tuxes though. XD That said, I liked it a lot! There's this show in germany where someone invites a random actor/other celebrity and they just hang out around Berlin and talk. Maybe this could evolve into something similar? Just you, hanging out in LA with friends and beautiful song intermissions.

Anonymous

I might be in the minority here but I'm happy to see you experiment. In the end on GT I felt like the episodes of ManUps were basically just you sitting down and going with whatever you came up with in the last 5 minutes. (Although that was kind of the point wasn't it lol) Anyhow this first pilot has amazing production value, and what seems to be a direction, a vision: which I love!! You are a creative Genius Ian!! I feel like asking US what we want to see doesnt work in your case... Youre fucking crazy... In an awesome way! Just squeeze (kick) the cheese man and keep going!!

Anonymous

7.8. Weird but good. Weird IS good. Spring morning rain.

Anonymous

Hi David, if you use the browser on your playstation to go to patron you should be able to view the podcast in advance. (note that other videos are posted simultaneously) as far as the issue with your phone... Are you using an android? If so, the YouTube app sometimes bugs. Change your settings to always open links in Chrome. Hope this helps!

Anonymous

That was fucking weird! But also fun to watch. I don't know what to make of this, so keep up the good work? Yeah, let's go with that. Keep up the good work!

Trey Whetstone

That was a good start. I'm interested to see where the show goes from here. I give it an 8.775 Windows 95.

Anonymous

I think a mixture of your couch show and this would be great. Maybe splice weird clips into your couch show randomly, and see how the guests react.

Anonymous

Ian is the best <3

Anonymous

I'm a big fan of David Lynch, so please feel free to get weirder with this.

Anonymous

I am completed confused, and cannot predict what episode two would looks like. When are we getting episode two? next week?

Anonymous

Good episode! Weird but fun to watch. Thanks Ian!

Brandon K Gann

Love your musical talent Mr. Hinck. Especially the last verse of your song. Great start to your show and looking forward to many more.

Anonymous

Yeah we dig it!

Anonymous

IDEA FOR YOU! Make a show like the first half of this video (an original song by you) but the topic you're singing about is your opinion on gaming related news items of the week. Kind of like Mandatory Update, but with your sweet singing and music skills.

Anonymous

Midwest weather? Ya burnt!

Anonymous

That was a little lame

Anonymous

Love the episode can't wait to see what randomness you do for episode 2

Anonymous

Always enjoy some insight into the mind of Hinck. I hope one day there will be an easy update nights; M. U. Nights was one of my favorite shows on the internet.. that would be magical. Thanks for sharing the great content Ian & allies. The intro needs more b#(B sharps.. hope you get it) ;p Great flavor and tone throughout the entire episode. Get it? B sharps ;) EASY UPDATE NIGHTS! LONGER THEN 6 MINS!! AWESOME WORK KEEP IT UP!!! B#!!!!

Anonymous

An idea for future easy updates. You've brought up before you know a good amount of people in the indie scene. So you could go around and give us UPDATES on what they're doing and give them a small break from the stress of it by hanging out with them instead of it being a strict interview/pitch. There seems to be quite a bit in California but even if you were to go farther away Ian is almost a one man production crew so it should be fine haha. This is also an assumption but the indie developers would be cool with it because that's free publicity. And last of all no one really does this. I loved the episode though and love Ian's style.

Anonymous

I prefer Man Ups Nights over this :|

Anonymous

Completely odd and quirky, but I couldn't stop watching. Looking forward to more Ian. Glad to see you back.

Anonymous

Do like the song. Skillz for dayz! But yeah, I like Paul David Santana's suggestion of keeping the opening song part consistent, and tying it into something game related. It doesn't hafta be - it's your show - but your built-in audience right now is gamers. Perhaps still building a show around a theme, but still keeping it loose and weird. Like as an example, a show theme might be "Jolly Co-op" with a nifty frontend song, and then cutting to a badminton session would still fit in. But weird is good! Just thoughts here. I'll be tuning in for more!

Tony

Great song, but the rest felt like filler to me. Looking forward to where this goes though.

Anonymous

Since I am a busy man who still wants to play videoed games, I like this more than all the streams simply due to the fact that I have time for a short, edited show. I also like this show in particular. Do you intend to have different strangers on this thing? I would be fine with no introduction, I think.

Anonymous

I also like this show in particular. Do you intend to have different strangers on this thing? I would be fine with no introduction, I think. But boy is this a weird video to comment and feedback on. Maybe introductions would be useful? Maybe that's against the point and would ruin it? I just really don't know how to comment on this, but I think keep doing what you feel good about, for the most part at least, is the way to go Ian. I will watch every episode anyway.

Anonymous

9.788 sort of moldy.

Anonymous

Do you Ian. But I do like the idea of hanging with some of your friends (maybe indie devs, or musicians or whatever) chilling in LA and talking about games mixed in with whatever. Short and weird interludes are also a good idea. I like the format and I look forward to where it goes!

Danni-H4

I dig it, BTW excellent opening dude! I had no idea you could sing like that!

Anonymous

Cool first episode. Gave me an idea. What if you did some sort of video game review (or even just video game topic) in song? I love the personal stuff but I'd prefer to see you get creative with songs in a structure that has to do with gaming which pushes you and even somewhat limits you to certain parameters. I've always found that limitation helps my creative process. It could be a quick 30 second thing before the main discussion. I'll bet you have a plethora of little ideas you don't know what to do with. Slap some "half life 2 doesn't have cut scenes and it's rad" lyrics on there and you're golden!! Haha. Just a thought. Take it with a grain of salt but don't get salty. Glad to have you back!

Anonymous

Ian is my boy crush, so maybe I'm biased, but I really liked this segment, especially the beautiful and clever song. Mr. Hinck is clearly an intelligent, talented and creative person with interesting views, but I'm afraid those qualities will get lost in his weirdness. I hope he'll be able to combine his quirky sense of humour with honest opinions and substance.

Anonymous

So glad you're back, Ian.

Anonymous

It's terrible, I love it ❤️

Anonymous

So when is Ian's solo album coming out?

Anonymous

Gave me a Windows 95 vibe

Anonymous

I appreciate the bold directions you take Ian. You do what you want to do and that's pretty awesome. I'm glad that we've managed to create a platform for your creativity. Also, great voice :)

Anonymous

Really enjoyed this Ian, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next. This gave me a really optimistic feeling about the future of Easy Allies.

Anonymous

I liked the concept of getting out into the world, but I believe it needs just a little bit more direction. Not a bad start though.

Anonymous

Classy intro, brilliant! I hope you turn it into a longer show though! Score? 9.991 Red Red Rollercoaster

Anonymous

You should do a men's guide to nail polish lol.

David Rodríguez Madriñán

This was... not enjoyable. If exploring creativity you end up doing what every vlogger does without talking about anything in particular or expressing anything, I'd rather you try something else, I know you can do better comedy. Cool piano intro tho.

Anonymous

More like Windows 98SE amirite?? ;P

Anonymous

It's interesting and I'm sure A.J.'s a good dude... But this was a Patreon for the Easy Allies crew so I think we were expecting videos of that and not "Ian and His Other Friends."

Anonymous

I liked the message AND the delivery. Looking forward to more!

Anonymous

Ian delivers, as always!

Anonymous

Great and creative - we need more gaming related CONTENT, though ... :)

Anonymous

Bringing in new guests / allies is a crucial part of their new concept. They made that clear from the very start: "[...] As the name implies, we want to work with everyone. The more support we get, the more we can meet up with special guests and partners. [...]"

Anonymous

True gaming content, please. News, playing games, both, please be mindful of the contributors -

Dallon Taylor

I adore this. It's kinda like a tangible version of thoughts. It's a thousand different things at once all trying to exist in the same space. If that makes any sense at all.

Anonymous

Very much enjoying the prospect of "Ian does stuff around the city while chatting to people"

Anonymous

I like the idea of getting someone to come on every episode to chat while you're doing a random activity.

Anonymous

Holy damn Ian! That voice is glorious!

Anonymous

I'm uh.. Put me in the wait 5 min camp on this one. You need a cohost and you need to go out and talk to norms and ask them really specific questions about the gaming industry

Anonymous

The song was awesome! Please release it as a downloadable MP3 ASAP! Excited to see where this show goes over the weeks and years to come. AJ was fun, too!

Anonymous

The thumbnail makes it look like Ian's about to drop the hottest album of the year. The cinematography for the song is out of this world, much respect for Jon Finger. I actually kinda like this format, it's definitely very Ian. While I miss the old ManUps format I would be more than happy to see Ian do random activities with a series of games-related guests. This strikes just the right balance between fast & loose and slow & rigid.

Anonymous

The song was amazing. Did Ian write it?

Anonymous

I was gonna say that address is the old spaghetti place lol. Stuff like this is exactly why I backed Easy Allies, love it.

Anonymous

Fun first episode, though I'm not sure how I feel about the show conceptually; I'm going to need a few more weeks of this before I get a feel of how this fits into the weekly EZA video flow. I will say, though, that the chill mood might work better as a mid-week affair rather than a weekend show.

Anonymous

Everything about this is why I support you guys. Love it Ian. You inspire me everyday, truly!!

Anonymous

Dat opening song tho. Really really enjoyed the first episode. Fast and loose and lots of fun.

Anonymous

Yep, that's Ian being Ian, never change you crazy beautiful person:)

Anonymous

Love the opening, very cinematic. I'm looking forward to see how the show develops, hopefully there will be some video game talk/content. Keep up the great work Ian. Love your uniqueness so much.

Anonymous

I wish Ian´s show was a monthly game musical, as in the Bloodborne musical.

Anonymous

Yes, more of this. Your vision and spontaneity gave room for some of GT's most creative(and fucking hilarious) moments. Stay gold.

Gan Khef

Loving it already. If only it were more of a 20-30 minute affair! The more Ian the better IMO. Don't think anyone would complain if it had an hour run time even. AJ the new sidebitch? XD

Kiraz

On first taste, it lacks any cohesive focus past introducing itself with the first song. Which might be the entire point. Though I didn't get as much out of it. Not having wind noise would make 87.4% more enjoyable. :D

Anonymous

A very enjoyable swamp of mundane, but somehow entertaining events. Well done, can't wait for more!

Anonymous

I like the wind noise, that's vintage Ian easiness ... :) - agree regarding the lack of focus, though. The show does need some kind of earnest, solid, game related backbone/focus. The reason why Mandatory Update worked so well was that it had a scripted backbone of game related news/jokes they actually took (kind of) serious and wrote down before going wild with the way they delivered / performed them. I do like Ian's artsy-loose-hipster-I-don't-give-a-damn-randomness. But it needs some glue and structure to keep it all together. Art can be fast and loose, but it must not take that as an excuse for lacking DIRECTION and INTENTION (in every sense of the words). There is a reason people seem to like the song best - and Ian should reflect on that. He is too talented for making a show that's mostly off-the-cuff filler (SOME of the latter is great, though). Sola dosis facit venenum.

Anonymous

I know I've already commented, but in all seriousness, will the song be available for download somewhere, sometime? <3

Civ

Worth every penny y'all haven't charged me yet.

Anonymous

What mipe said pretty much. I love the randomness that Ian brings, but its nice to have some sort of structure to it, always loved mandatory update (not saying it has be that though). "I like the wind noise, that's vintage Ian easiness ... :) - agree regarding the lack of focus, though. The show does need some kind of earnest, solid, game related backbone/focus. Anonymous

Ian, can we please get a salty run back of Kill Your Babies on a future episode? Still mad that minecraft won

Anonymous

Ian i just love your crazy "in a good way" videos, i missed your content man <3

Anonymous

Your my hairspiration Ian. One day I'll have locks as magnificent as yours. Also, of the Always Sunny in Easy Allies, you're the Wild Card.

Anonymous

Not feeling very "update"d, but I'm digging it either way.

Anonymous

I'm not sure what the future plan of the show is but if it turns into a sketch show I'll be looking forward to it.

Anonymous

That opening was great. Great start to your show Ian, love your humor!

Anonymous

You'll have to do a GTA3 internal monologue for a show.

Anonymous

Ian. That intro. Wonderful. So, so great. Excited to see where things go!

Anonymous

Loved it!!!!

Anonymous

I love the rest of the show and Ian's input on GT, but that opening song was insufferably pretentious.

Anonymous

Love your weirdness man, but I'm used to long Manups episdoes - are the Easy Updates all going to be pretty short in comparison? Hope we get some Manups type of content too just bullshitting with some of the other guys about random game stuff.

Anonymous

Opening is top notch.

Anonymous

I'm not sure about this. Great opening for the first episode, but it wasn't particularly videogame-related. I assumed it was going to be an easy-going, laid back news show! Put the focus more on videogames next episode and see where that goes. ❤️

Anonymous

Confused, will wait for a few more episodes to get a better idea before passing opinions.

Anonymous

Pure garbage - 8.8 - but in all seriousness just needs more game related content.

Anonymous

I'm worried now.

Anonymous

You should do video essays like Danny Dwyer's The Point. Make it season based and only release them when you have great ideas

Anonymous

I watched it when it released and after giving it a bit to digest it sat really well with me.

Anonymous

so after sitting with me a few days came to this thought. This is cool, I like it. However, this is something I would expect to see on Ian's personal youtube account, not here. As a patron I signed up for continuing to support what I already liked, so was hoping for something similar even if name has to change, or at least remotely similar.

Anonymous

I'm pretty sure the address Ian gave at the end belongs to The Old Spaghetti Factory. They're gonna be so confused when they start receiving mail addressed to Beachleavings Creative Holdings Corporation ℅ Ian Hinke.
