Sony is investing millions in Epic Games, and Microsoft is hoping the hype surrounding their next Xbox Game Showcase pays off. Also, is it our fate to be purchasing $70, digital-only, games in the near future according to recent decisions made by 2K and Capcom, or are these just signs of further change coming to the industry?

I know somebody mentioned making the presentation a little prettier on cup of jones and I'm fine with the experimentation, but that blinking Podcast is NOT the answer. The outlining of easy Allies is a little distracting, but the blinking is awful. Hurts to watch the podcast. Good episode otherwise though, fellas.

I appreciate the questioning of what I was trying to go for with my question. In my head I knew what I was trying to get at and it just didn't come across in writing. I'll be more specific in the future. L&R!

I would love to see more games try their take on Shadow of Mordor's dynamic nemesis system. To Huber's dismay, I believe that they were originally working on a Batman game utilizing the nemesis system but then pivoted to making a LOTR game which then became SoM. Still could happen in the future, fingers crossed "Gotham Knights" has some feature like this.

Hey EZA big shoutout on this podcast. There was a lot of factual games industry stuff that I didn't know mentioned here and it compliments the discussions super well. Jones mentioning games ER analysts saying the average consumer only buys 5 games a year is really interesting, for example. Really good blend of the fun, hype-esque talk and factual games biz stuff.

Huge shout out to Ian for the presentation upgrades here. There was some friendly discussion of it in the ResetEra thread with comparisons to some of the Ally's contemporaries in the industry. Blood had mentioned that after that comparison post, he talked to Ian about it that night. I'm sure there are more planned in the future given how quick this change happened, but taking criticism to heart and making such quick visual changes was an immediate improvement. Looks good!

I think the new visuals look awesome! Great panel and discussion as usual.

Most interesting news was the fact that Sony invested so much money into epic, I really have high hopes for unreal 5 and that demo continues to be incredible, just imagine how games will look like once the 3080Ti comes out and takes full advantage of the engine.

I don't think NBA was the first game to hike its price. The Jedi game was £60ish on PC when it released. That's £20 more than usual for a new game. Also, if the companies were paying their staff fairly, rather than unpaying, crunching, turning round low experience staff, dodging tax, getting Government subsidies, playing the stock market and basically any practice that nets the CEOs a shed load of money, I'd be more inclined to think maybe they need a price hike.

N64 game cartridge were more complicated then a CD or blueray. So that upped the price. I want to see the number of people playing games for each gaming generation. The amount could actually be offsetting cost of development. Now I think it is in part players fault for craving the best graphics possible. What was once devs experimenting and trying new artistic things is now younger gamers expecting that. Look at how many people who won't play older games because of "graphics". The players have partly forced devs to continue.
