I think one thing people don't realise that is holding Pokemon back is that as a turn based RPG it probably has the most 'moves' of any RPG and definitely would have the most unique Party Members. The only way we can see a massive evolution of the series is with a HARD reboot with 100 or less new Pokemon so that the animators can make a decent looking game in a reasonable time frame, and then to adapt a Final Fantasy formula that self contains every game and set of Mon's. There in lies the rub. No one wants to let go of this formula because casual fans still want Pikachu in every entry, VGC players want some of their meta to carry over, TCG players want to play cards that make their deck unique, Anime fans want throw back pokemon filling the scenery. Pokemon has so much baggage that if you are a fallen off fan you are more likely better served by looking into Pokemon inspired games that may deliver a more singular focus. I wish that there was some solution that appeases every market but it turns out that the current model keeps paying the bills and makes the Pokemon company the biggest entertainment property on the planet.

I'm one of those weirdos that loves art galleries, sound tests, and model viewers. I really am sad that Smash Ultimate doesn't have it and as insane and dumb as this wish is (since it already has so much) I wish they'd bring back trophies. I was actually talking to someone about this. The DVD extras approach has kinda gone away, but I loved it. And video games have taken the place of toys I think for a lot of kids. So there's something toy like about just seeing this cool 3d thing. I dunno.. that's just me.

It's cynical, but the reason for the 2 minute timer in that boat game became extremely apparent when you said there's only 3 levels. If it was longer you'd finish the game in no time, as it is, you keep having to repeat objectives until you can nail them in 2 mins.
