On Monday, July 6th, Michael Damiani and I are Zoom'n up and scrolling through all the talking points, drawings, photos, screenshots, songs, and videos that all of you have planned for the next EZA Showcase. It feels like 200 games have been announced, highlighted, or launched in the last month, so maybe one or two of them caught your eye and you'd like to make sure we noticed them. Or maybe you have predictions for what Ubisoft or Xbox has in store for their events planned for this month. Just no Last of Us Part II spoilers. Even silly ones. It's easy for us to feel disconnected from this industry when we're working from home each day and all our favorite events are getting canceled, but we're so happy we get to still virtually connect with all of you and enjoy how terribly talented you all are.

SHOWCASE GUIDELINES

No submissions will be accepted past June 6, 2020, at 12:00 AM PT.

While you retain all rights to your content, by submitting here you’re giving Easy Allies the right to show the content in our monthly Community Showcase live stream.

You may submit a comment, an image, or an audio/video file. If you’re submitting anything other than a comment, please host the file elsewhere and link it on Patreon. You can make a tweet or Instagram post with your image, or link the audio/video from a YouTube account, etc.

If you’re posting a video, photograph, or drawing, keep your comment limited to a description of the work. Leaving a piece of art, or a video, in addition to a long comment is a bit disrespectful of people who just leave comments. If you’re posting a lot of images, we will only show a maximum of 9, of our choosing unless you specify otherwise.

Comments have been known to disappear from Patreon posts, unfortunately. Double check that your post remained active before the day of the Showcase. Leaving a comment helps to keep it from vanishing. If you’re submitting text, save a copy locally in case you have to re-post.

Any text to be read should be 500 words or less. Any video or piece of music should be 3 minutes or less. If the entry is longer, we will edit it down to a manageable length. We reserve the right to remove any content we find offensive.

Only one entry per month. Unless you specify what you’d like us to focus on, we’ll always use the last post from each Patron.

You may comment on any submissions, but keep original posts focused toward the Showcase so no submission is overlooked.

Hey Brandon and Damiani! This month, I messed around a little bit with the main theme from Streets of Rage 4. Hope you enjoy! Adam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yPeIUSpZW0&feature=youtu.be

Hey Brandon and Damiani, I got 4 platinum trophies this month. Firstly I went through the remainder of Castlevania Symphony of the Night to find all squares and defeat Dracula in the inverted castle. I then started a new game as Richter and ran through to the inverted castle to face the Shaft enemy and unlock the platinum in Castlevania Requim. In my opinion, Rondo of Blood is a more enjoyable game out of the 2 in the collection. I then moved on to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This one is a tough to obtain the platinum purely because of how many trophies you can miss. I also did the DLC, and combined DLC and main game, there are 45 trophies you can miss if you don't perform the right action. This meant following a guide to make sure you don't miss any side quests on the way through the story. I also had to do a second run through the story in a perma-death mode. For this one I followed a 2 hour speed run video on youtube and finished the run in around 3-4 hours. Next up was the platinum in Mafia 2: Definitive Edition. I enjoyed playing through the game again. The patch to fix one of the trophies, and also some of the framerate issues did help with the enjoyment. I was still encountering odd graphical glitches at times, with shadows flickering around and even shapes appearing around the center of the screen. Thankfully the shapes disappeared on reloading the game. My final platinum was in Horizon Zero Dawn. I stopped at the final mission to work through The Frozen Wilds DLC, and then went back to the main story to complete that mission and obtain the platinum. I just have to do a story run on Ultra Hard difficulty in New Game plus to get the final 2 trophies. A streamer I watch was recommending Raid: Shadow Legends and unlike most advertisements of the game I have seen, they actually play it a lot. I decided to give it a go and I am really enjoying it. I can play on my PC or my phone, so I can always make a little progress no matter what I am doing. I managed to get into the streamers clan so I can participate in the boss battles too. It is similar to the Star Wars Galaxies game with a different theme and slightly different mechanics. If it didn't have the PC option though, I wouldn't have started playing it. Hope you are both well and the chat too. Love and respect, BeardedScotsman86

Hey allies! So I wanted to have a Final Fantasy VII Remake pt 2 fan trailer to submit this month, but editing it is a pain, and I have to get footage by playing through the game again with the music all the way down and the SFX at least a little muted so I can get isolated dialogue stems. If I don't have it ready next month... I'll feel a little bad about it! Since I don't have a capture card I'm just streaming it to twitch and downloading the VOD's... So this month, I'm just going to submit the backing music. Why? Well, I got my first guitar about a month or two ago, and this is the first thing I made with it. It's a cover of an FFVII song that heavily veered into trailer style music for some reason, which is why I want to make said trailer in the first place. It's juuuuuust shy of three minutes long. I hope you guys enjoy my take on it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EFNHcmgTKX-XVvsCTZwJJ46WpIgkuuI1/view Love & Respect, Elaine from New Zealand

Greetings Brandon and Damiani, First off if EZA managed to afford a big rig then Damiani ought to drive it because he’d totally fit that role-or would Damiani prefer sticking to Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing? Seriously though Damiani is Nintendo personified. Which Nintendo console to you like the most? I personally have a passion for Nintendo GameCube as it was bought for my 10th birthday in 2002 and I totally relished how Nintendo had a bevvy of super-fun family-friendly title, but every now and then a bloodthirsty and/or terrifying release surfaced on it like Resident Evil Remake or Eternal Darkness. Once again thank you for all the amazing content you produce and the excellent new Hunting Huber series-dang if only there was an Ape Escape game you could play where Huber is the ape one of you have to find and catch with the net. This month I will list a bevvy of videogame characters and suggest a way they can each be improved. Kratos (God of War)-To give brawny bearded baldy Kratos some personality I say dispose of the Viking garb and make him ponce around in sneakers with lights in them, a sideways baseball cap and a sports jersey-and maybe a crop top too. Also a rapping career can lighten his mood too. Joel (The Last of Us)- To add some levity and hipness to his generic gruff and gnarled persona-I think he needs to shave, be decked out in a snazzy leotard and carry a broomstick so he can go sweep-sweeps and become Ellie's man maid. Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)- A cowboy he may be but Arthur isn't complete without some deodorant, some tic-tacs and a pair of biker shorts-welcome to the twenty-first century Morgan! Jill Valentine (RE3)-The sewer rat look doesn't suit you Jill so I propose you swap out your dank apparel with a biker look with leather jacket, sunglasses and do send a swanky postcard to widower Deacon St. John, he could use a new life partner. Also inject a muscle stimulant so you can resemble The Nemesis-might give Deacon another demented monster to fight off. Jesse Faden (Control)- There's no cure for boring quite like a tennis attire and fake tan-at least then you can be a YouTube starlet and not the least impressive thing about the videogame you're starring in. Samus Aran (Metroid)- Look Samus you're a Nintendo icon, the least you could do is swap the helmet for a hockey mask and the suit of armour for some chaps, chains and leather-might serve you well if you plan on paying tribute to 2004s Dodgeball film or being an even kinkier sidekick to Bayonetta. Deacon St John (Days Gone)- Apart from needing a dose of actual charisma, Deacon should give up his biker garb and don a sailor's costume and ride a trike-and for some reason Jill finds this attractive.

Yo Allies, Jones and Damiani! Don't know if I'm too late on this or not, but if not, I just wanted to say a personal thank you for the Allies and the community for making this such a special and welcoming place! Everyone, the Allies and the community both, have made the last several months a much easier time to get through. This last month I've been playing and writing a review for Mega Man X 1-6 in hopes that I can write a podcast episode about the franchise in the near future. I've heard a lot about how everything past X3 is rough, but I genuinely enjoyed 4 and 5 both. 6 to me is where things start to get rough, and starting on 7, the game is extremely poor. 3D was not kind to the blue bomber like it was for Mario. Other than that, I hope everyone is staying safe and positive! Love you all, maybe now I'll play more than the first hour of Last of Us 2 to cleanse my Mega Man palette. Love and Respect, Brian from Happy Gaming.

June was… awful. With the nationwide protests for Black Lives Matter continue to expose the militarized culture of the police, its compounded with my family whom appears to not care the pandemic is still around as some have gone on out-of-state trips to “just get out and about,” or have gatherings with no masks, no distancing, and attendance close to 20 people. On top of this, I had to deal with a personal hurt that just made everything feel like an avalanche. In an attempt to combat all this negativity are the video games, and the announcement streams overall. I want to focus on the streams first. I echo several who I’ve seen say that week felt like E3 a little bit. Because of these, I now know of Prodeus which for those who don’t know, looks like a 3D pixel art DOOM clone, and a couple of games I’ve been excited for since I first saw them at PAX East 2019, Ghostrunner and Get to the Orange Door, getting mainline trailers were highlights. The PS5 reveal stream was far and away the best, with the official announcements of the Demons Souls remaster, Resident Evil VIII, and what was my surprise of the show, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Now with The Last of Us Part II released, both Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon: Forbidden West are my most anticipated games. Yes, even more than Cyberpunk 2077. Speaking of CyberPunk, its delay has me considering getting an Xbox Seires X day one, which is unusual for me because I don’t like getting new hardware at launch because of price and normally, there isn’t enough at that time to justify it. However, with CyberPunk getting a free next gen upgrade sometime next year, it being playable on Series X day one, Halo: Infinite being a launch title and what I’m predicting to be a cheaper price than the PS5, it’s sorely tempting. In regards to the games, I played two. The first, A Plague Tale: Innocence was good on the whole as I enjoy the primarily stealth based, puzzle solving gameplay. However, the last three chapters undo all the good the rest of the game builds up because you’re given an ability that sounds great on paper, but in its implementation, both story and gameplay wise, just ruins the home stretch. But the big one, The Last of Us Part II, is currently rolling credits as I type this. This is a phenomenal game in almost every aspect, and a stunning display of achievement. However. The only word I’ve wrestled with trying to summarize my feelings is ‘stunned,’ and I don’t mean that in a positive sense. Again, this was a can’t miss game, and I’m very pleased I played it. It’s just here at the close, I’m so disappointed, not by Naughty Dog or anyone who contributed to the game, but to a particular character. And for a game to move me so, is a masterpiece of art.

Hey Jones. Hey Damiani. With more time than ever on my hands, the moment the local Lego store opened up, I (safely) took the opportunity to add a new Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Series set to my collection, so I thought I'd take this month's showcase to show off said collection. These 3 were previous  https://www.instagram.com/p/rQ6md2oSDN/?igshid=91ixhd18klnw https://www.instagram.com/p/rkoaf4ISAM/?igshid=5i2gasa0rpeg https://www.instagram.com/p/BAJIeW8oSNT/?igshid=1vhqkyi1l0fkg And here's the newest entry that this post is for* The set is 43 inches long, 26 wide, and 17 tall, and nearly 4800 pieces, putting it at the 6th largest official set offered. *(Jones, there's 3 pics in this last post. No biggie if that's extra hoops though.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBB-ucdJbep/?igshid=5ix43rkv7e0a That'll do for this month. Stay safe. Wash your hands. Play some good games. 'til next time.

Hello Damiani & Jones! June was a fine month for my gaming. I beat nothing new, but I found all of the shrines and side mission in Breath of the Wild. I think July will finally be the month that will close my Hyrule adventure, and I do wonder: what’s next for the series? I recently watched that announcement trailer again and I have a lot of questions that only time will answer. I thought of looking at the series history to see if I could come up with a solid idea of what to expect. There are 18 games in the series, of which 7 can be classified as sequels. Spirit Tracks to Phantom Hourglass, which in itself is a sequel to Wind Waker, and for arguments sake, I’ll say that’s a sequel to Ocarina of Time in the adult era of the triumphant hero timeline. Then in the child era we have Four Sword Adventures being a sequel to Four Swords and Majora´s Mask another sequel to Ocarina of Time. Finally In the hero is defeated timeline we have Adventure of Link follow the original Legend of Zelda and A Link Between Worlds serves as the continuation of A Link to the Past. Moving on, what differentiates those sequels? For instance, Four Sword Adventures, Spirit Tracks, A Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker continue the story of their predecessors in some way, but I will rule out those of my template because they don’t feature the same protagonist from the previous game. They take place in the distant future with different people. That leaves us with Majora’s Mask, Phantom Hourglass & Adventure of Link. Majora & Hourglass have one thing in common; the protagonist are the same as the previous game, but take place in a land other than Hyrule. And finally The Adventure of Link, where Link is the same, we have a different Zelda but the previous one is still around and well, there just happens to be a dormant princess like Link starts in Breath of the Wild. Of those two options, it looks like “The sequel to Breath of The Wild now in development” will NOT be a side story like Majora or Hourglass, since the trailer features Hyrule Castle point and center; is the Adventure of Link our template for the next game? I don’t think so. This was a pointless exercise. It’s not often that a game in the series is followed by a direct sequel. It had only happened with Adventure to the Legend in the NES, Majora’s to Ocarina in the N64 & Spirit tracks to Hourglass in the DS; which again points to Adventure being the template, but I’d better just stop wondering and wait. This sequel will be the first Zelda game built for the Switch from the ground up, so I have hopes for it. Estamos en Contact and may the way of the hero lead to the triforce. César.

Hello Jones and Damiani. PlayStation 5 reveal event made me worry about the future of this system. Here’s why. Most popular games are multiplatform games. We already knew that Xbox Series X will be more powerful console than PS5, and Xbox One X proved that extra teraflops results in more stable frame-rate and better visual. So to convince players who only play, for example, Call of Duty or FIFA, Sony needed to demonstrate that PS5 can be better than Xbox Series X in some way. And they didn’t. PS5 will have faster SSD than Xbox Series X and PC. If third-party game is released on all three platforms, what will be different besides extra second of rare loading screen? Open-world traversal speed? I doubt it. More detailed models and textures? I’m not sure GPU can handle them. Then what? Sony didn’t tell us. Without any information it’s safe to assume that developers will simply target the slowest platform. If so, having ultra-fast SSD is almost worthless, especially if you play multiplayer and wait for other player’s loading. Another PS5 selling points are haptic feedback and 3D audio. That all sounds great and exciting, but PS5 will be the only console with such features. We all remember what happened with Kinect, touchpad, impulse triggers and other console-specific features: they were barely supported post-launch. Why this time it will be different? Sony didn’t tell us. In fact during PS5 reveal event the console wasn’t discussed at all. The only thing we saw was games. But exclusives that will come eventually are a weak argument for buying the console at launch when it’s the most expensive. Maybe Sony tried to sell PS5 to gamers who will not buy a second console, but if you gaming budget is limited, you will gravitate towards Xbox because of enormous value of Xbox Game Pass. PlayStation Game Pass feels almost necessary, but it wasn’t announced. Of course, PS4 significantly outsold Xbox One and many gamers have only PSN account. Theoretically this should give PS5 a huge boost in sales, but I’m not sure it will. Cross-play quickly becomes a standard, so switching to another platform is easier than ever. Yes, you will lose access to your previous purchases, but PS5’s backwards compatibility is still unclear (Sony, why?), which may also push players to go with Xbox that clearly rewards player’s loyalty. And what about VR? Is it still a thing on PS5 or was it silently dropped just like Kinect during last gen? Nothing was said. It feels like Sony is out of touch, thinking that everyone will buy PS5 simply because everyone bought PS4 and Sony’s exclusive games are great. And I’m afraid that this isn’t enough, especially for such (likely) expensive hardware as PS5. In current economic situation this can results in extremely poor sales. And when economy is bad, business may be forced to shut down its unprofitable department. Let’s hope that PlayStation will survive through PS5, just like Nintendo survived through Wii U.

Greetings Damiani and Jones! Hope you are doing well. So I don’t have artwork for this month because I’ve been continuing my work on my webcomic, ‘Summer Days.’ Decided to go at it with a new work ethic of finishing at least part of an episode per month as the chapters are so long that I had to split them into parts. This’ll hopefully help in getting it out by next summer. *fingers crossed* Other than that, I’ve come to an important decision. But first, a short story. Back in 2007, I got my fat PS3 and it would end up being the very console that got me back into gaming as a hobby since the SNES. And, of course, the first major decision when first booting up a brand new system, choosing a name. I’ve racked my brain as I tried to figure out a pretty good name. I’ve thought about all the stuff that I’m into and I came to creating Zephyr Moon. Now fast forward to 2020. Admittedly, I’ve had some fond memories with this name and I love it when I hear it during streams, the showcase, or on Easy Update whenever Ian plays the “Kill Your Babies” the card game, but there comes a time when a name can grow a bit tiring and it really doesn’t represent you anymore. So, with that said, it’s time to finally retire the name Zephyr Moon and embrace my new name. Hope everyone is staying safe out there and wash your hands! Black lives matter! Much love and respect, Sara Imshaug SaraKnite Formerly Zephyr Moon

Top o' the mornin' from Ireland, Jones, Damiani, and Allies around the globe! I recently found myself thinking "What if the Cosmo Canyon music was reimagined as a traditional Irish ballad?" I tried it out and added another related theme from FFVII. Wish you all good health to enjoy it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8jocX_teIU Cheers, Ciaran / MrConeman (P.s. the bottom right panel of the video contains some Red XIII backstory spoilers for those who haven't played the game, but I have edited it to be as spoiler free as possible - just for those yet to play)

Greetings Jones and Damiani, I hope you are both doing well considering the circumstances we find ourselves in. I was disheartened to hear California would be receding back to a stay at home state, but definitely want you fellas and your families and friends to all be safe. I just uploaded the files for my second audiobook and will post the link in chat and on Twitter when it is available for purchase, as will as my first book from 6 months ago, once it is ALSO released from audio file approval. Thank you to you guys and chat for being so supportive of my new pursuit of an old dream. I wouldn't have done it without them. Also thank you Damiani, for calling out and correcting Jones on the podcast a couple weeks ago regarding the "sponsored Shout-out". It might have been humiliating but it was for a good cause. =) My file this month is an excerpt from an E-book through the Project Gutenberg library online. They have compiled thousands of works from the public domain and make them all available for free to anyone. I thought in these times of financial instability, combined with abundant "free time" (and with Ian's recent Easy Update reminding us all we should read more) I would suggest this to the listeners. I have been using them for years just to read, but now am using them as scripts for creating demos and for my audiobook auditions. I hope you will enjoy. Take care, L&R Jessie Blu

Good afternoon, gentlemen, Well, another month has passed. Which means it's another month of Animal Crossing updates. 1. June started off exciting as I was invited to participate in The Great Nook Bake Off. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pOHFOLWbidYo5eobsMQjNnJUVlpp_S9z/view?usp=sharing 2. As we got closer to the finale, I was feeling pretty good about my chances. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aH1hWmkD_7B7wfQz8LVzTsYN7bjBbcox/view?usp=sharing 3. However, I soon found myself visited by one of my competitor's goons asking me to step aside. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wTKzJ8Ugk1gLZ25ZrbW6i6kW03iadIcK/view?usp=sharing 4. Well, that was never going to happen. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S79xzoRc__mKotu7Cwvh0CctoW1ImCHm/view?usp=sharing 5. Still I thought it might be wise to leave town for a few days. On my way out, I ran into Frobert who had recently run afowl of one of the Nooks. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t3h2uDC1Q0xZDTx50Nk_iy75aqlSvpeO/view?usp=sharing 6. We decided to disguise ourselves as sailors and sneak into Gulliver's crew. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1doHJiBbm-HFZTZU-uHjYnZYWvWMy9lTb/view?usp=sharing 7. Unfortunately, the boat ran into a bit of trouble. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Zj1GJNUQZRYHsXhukyM8CcANg1dJvdu/view?usp=sharing 8. Luckily, we washed up near some ruins that contained treasure beyond our imaginations. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AiMG5FSgOURAaaTlSM_TAmxssZKQTHZO/view?usp=sharing 9. With our pockets lined with bells, we were able to return home where we bought the town a fancy bridge and everyone forgave us. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xQMsNNBlCubQg0wOOFvPRR-6BonuSgMZ/view?usp=sharing Well, that was June on Poppleton. I imagine things will be much calmer in July. Until next time, Asbo Zappruder / screaming_argonaut

Hello All, I'm a filmmaker who's just completed work on a comic book that I'm turning into my first video game, Weatherworn. The prequel comic follows the four seasons leading up to the start of the game. The game itself is an RPG that centers around an astronaut and their grandchild stranded on a medieval world. Here's a look at the work-in-progress trailer: https://www.vimeo.com/428911970/2d86bbd4c7. Planning to take the game + comic to Kickstarter. Send any thoughts this way. Love & Respect, Jeremy

Hey guys, Since 2019 I’ve made it a goal to say yes more and allow myself to experience new food, things that scared me, made me uncomfortable, things I kept making excuses to not do, etc. You know, experience life. Next on my list is to get my first tattoo and I’m working on designing it. I’m happy with it, but until I get it done I can’t help but to keep iterating. It’s a piece that’ll be on the inside of my forearm. https://twitter.com/obvious_decoy/status/1277672011498733569?s=21

Mr. Jones. I am back and have more interview questions for your, and Damiani's consideration. Again choose whichever ones you feel you have time for and are appropriate for your guest. Feel free to omit as needed. Premise- Brandon selects any 5 questions from the list for the guest. They can be shared beforehand for preparation and may be personal and off the wall. If the guest doesn't care for the question it can be skipped or replaced with another. If you are enjoying the interview feel free to ask more of the provided questions. 1- What is your most negative opinion about the world we live in? 2- If you had to write in a name for the 2020 Presidential election, but could only select a fictional character, who would you write in? 3- Some freaky friday stuff happened with your ballot from the "write in question" and it happened! Now, via an ancient curse, you are the Vice President to you pick! Thanks a lot cursed magic ballot. What policies do you propose to your new President. 4- When faced with someone who has an opposing view on an important matter, is it best to dismiss them, reason with them, or agree to disagree? 5- Supposing that Brandon Jones betrays you at some point in 2020, how do you seek revenge to right the injustice of his actions? 6- If you could snap 50% of anything out of existence, (not people) what would have you snappin'? 7- What is the one thing you would never do.... for less than the 100K tier on patreon? 8- Upon striking it rich you decide to open a themed restaurant and get to be as creative as you desire. What is the theme, some special attractions and some of the signature menu items? 9- What is your philosophy on life and what do you wish everyone consider about it? 10- An eccentric billionaire randomly chooses you to select a design he will carve into the surface of the moon so that everyone in the world for all of time will see it. What is your design, or do you decline the offer? (If the offer is declined the choice goes to a talking parrot raised in a 5th grade class that was full of class clowns)

(Note just for Jones: Themis {Thee-Miss, with a long e sound.} This is because when I saw the name the first time, I read it out phonetically as I saw it, and it just kind of stuck…. Carry on.) Greetings Jones and Damiani, Good news: I got a Drawing Tablet. Hurray! Bad news: I completely obliterated my brand new microphone, which killed any chance of me doing a drawing video for the showcase. BOO! Whatever. I still had enough time and energy to redraw my beloved catgirl heroine, Themis O’Malley (the title character of my book series Themis the Catgirl). This is a progression of her design as I redrew her on my tablet. I have a new microphone on the way, so by next showcase, I should have a few half or full body designs of my characters to show off, or people can just watch me stream, as I do that now. Hi there Jones and seniore Damiani, it's time for another update on my Dreams project. I managed to release the second chapter from Mimeo Prophecy and shadow drop it at DreamsCom. I'm extremely happy how my trailer turned out to be and what I archieved in the last 5+ months. It feels more and more like a proper game now. But I'll let the trailer do the talking. Hey Jones and Damiani! I gotta briefly and spoiler freely talk about my The Last of Us Part II experience. I usually don't finish long games but this time everything just lined up perfectly to play all weekend from launch day. We had holiday the 19th and I preloaded the game the night before and pretty much played in 3 hour chunks until I finished it monday night. It was just incredible going into a game completely blind that I was pretty sure I'd like (I only watched the first trailer and then even install a spoiler blocker app on my phone) and just immerse myself without distractions. At the same time I've never felt so many conflicting emotions playing a game as with this one. It was kind of a love/hate relationship that formed from early on to the end. Stealthing through every combat section as long as I could, just stopping and taking in the environments and actually disgusted by the horrifying events before me not knowing where this sad journey would end. It just felt wrong to kill these people when the combat was so brutal and the reactions so real and at the same time the game made me because I couldn't always progress otherwise. This amazement of the raw achievement of the graphics, sound, animation, acting, music and gameplay and the terrible feelings it made me feel throughout is gonna stay with me for a long time. I would've liked the game to take a different path but I can't blame Naughty Dog for having a vision and going for it this hard either. Oh and if anyone wonders how Steam Game Festival went for our Raid Guild Management game Random Raiders went. We got almost 1000 downloads of the demo and exactly zero questions on our AMA. Well we put ourselves out there and tried :) Seems the whole thing mostly flew everyone by but at least it forced us to make the demo which is still public if anyone wanna try and send us some feedback :) Cheers!

Yo, Jones and Damiani! My D&D campaign has been going well and I'm still uploading new videos of our adventures to my YouTube channel "AlexanderArts." Here are nine character portraits I've drawn for the players and some NPCs: https://imgur.com/a/rGqNjOd (I hope one link to all 9 images is easier for you to grab pics from than individual links.) What is UP! Jones and Damiani! I will keep this short and sweet. I wanted to post this last showcase, but life got in the way. Anyway, I put together some Star Citizen footage around the new area we got in the last patch (New Babage) as well as wanted to show off the really cool Ailen drop ship, Esperia Prowler that I spoke about in my last SC post. I'm not 100% sure how interesting it will be for people not into the game and it might be a little confusing. But I was quite happy to get a rough cut out and show the game in motion. Hello Brandon and Damiani! Kind of a weird all over the place gaming month. To start I completed Persona 3 FES and its bonus story "The Answer". Persona 3 is definitely the clunkiest of 3/4/5, but there's still a lot to love in its story, music, and vibes. The Answer is definitely pretty weak and is mostly just 30 hours of grinding, but I figured why not do it! Initially I started up Persona 2 on Vita after I finished 3, but having played Persona 5 Royal, FF7Remake, FF7, and Persona 3 I definitely burned out on JRPGS for a while. After P3 I played through Hitman 2 + DLC's. The campaign caught me off guard by how short it was, but the replayability of each mission definitely makes up for it. While I didn't spend too much extra time in it after finishing the campaign, it definitely seems like a fun game to play with friends. Im primarily going through both Oblivion and KOTOR right now. Oblivion I've never really played despite having like 600 hours in Skyrim. It's weird and quirky, and its surprising to me that its sort of stereotypical dork fantasy (leotards and bright colors) managed to be a hit back in 2006 when Skyrim was a much more grounded GOT esque style just a few years later. I try and play one of the KOTOR's every year, so Im going back to 1 this year. There's not much to say beyond its great as always, and my dream of a Filoni animated KOTOR adaptation remains. I actually picked up a few games this month between a few good sales at Gamestop, PSN, and Steam. Grabbed Control, Castlevania Requiem, And FF8 for the PS4. Dragon Quest XI for Switch, and Rimworld for Steam. Not sure when exactly Ill get around to any of these things, but can never pass up some good sales! That's about all for this month in gaming. Currently waiting to hear back on a really fantastic job opportunity that I feel good about getting, so any good vibes and luck towards that would be appreciated! Love and Respect, Tyler @tmgm528

Hello Damiani and Jones! Seeing all those opportunities for reactions lately has been a blast, and I'm glad we're still getting some sort of E3 vibes. Loved the betting special! This month I'm looking forward to two games coming out exactly one week after my birthday, Paper Mario and Ghost of Tsushima! Thousand-Year Door is one of my favourite games of all time, and I'm excited to explore that beautiful Japanese island! This month's submission is an original piece of music I composed, as part of a big project I should really get back to, which consists in composing original music and then coming up with lore to weave every piece into a shared world, Zelda timeline-style. In that world, I've got a People of Air who can fly and lives in forests in the mountains, and this People is my excuse to write Japanese or generally Asian inspired music. I chose to share the theme that represents a magic spell of that people from the First Age of this world, because it might evoke some Tsushima vibes! Stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, Love & Respect! Kevin Gillet Link to the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9KPY4AO6Ak

Note to Jones: I don’t believe there are any story spoilers for the Last Of Us 2 here. Happy July Allies Playing The Last Of Us 2 rekindled my hunger for my dream Die Hard game. I submitted this on a previous Community Showcase (you wouldn’t remember). The idea is you control John McClain in a semi explorable Nakatomi Plaza just as the “terrorists” attack. The game will play out Hans Gruber’s plan in real time and you can change the events, either try play out events like in the movie or alter events as you see fit, doing nothing results in Hans getting away with the cash and hostages dieing. It would be in the style of a 3rd person survival game with limited resources. In The Last Of Us 2 some enemies you encounter are given names, now this is the part that resonates with my dream Die Hard game. The idea that every character in the Nakotimi Plaza have names, background, history and motivations. I believe there are 13 enemies in the movie, including Hans, each would have a traits, strengths and weaknesses you could use or exploit. Karl for instance is more physical so it’d be difficult to take him on in hand to hand combat but you could probably use his rage to your benefit. What TLOU2 does is a tiny step in the right direction for me, I hope it evolves. There are many elements I enjoyed in TLOU2 although I wish there were some improvements such as the idea of having interment encounters, though I prefer having quality and stronger AI and maybe less enemies. For me the shooting mechanic didn’t quite feel right, I can’t put my finger on it, but when you’re in a fire fight, which was rare, I just couldn’t get the hang of pulling off shots without getting hit. The cover system for me also felt awkward where at time it wasn’t possible to aim around cover whilst hugging a wall, might just be me. Stealth, which I enjoyed reminded me of playing Metal Gear Solid 4, especially the ability to grab enemies and use them as a shield, good memories. Got to admit it felt awesome when I managed to clear out an area without being spotted. The game also deserves a huge shout out for the incredible sound design, it’s one of the best to take advantage of a surround sound set up. The accessibility options is a game changer, it sets a new benchmark I hope other games try to mirror. One thing I wish the game did, which is what I want in my dream game was to introduce some form of sustained damage for both enemies and the player, so a lethal shot would kill you and the enemy instantly whereas other damage taken would impact characters movements and ability, for example hit on the arm would make it difficult to use 2 handed weapons or aim, leg shots would prevent you from running. I hate when an enemy would get shot, but because it’s not a headshot they can carry on like normal, it’d be great if they acted wounded or even slowly bled out whilst calling for help. I believe the Arma games have this mechanic and it’d be great to see it implemented in 3rd person survival games. Going back to my dream game I had an idea where you’re going up against an enemy who’s very perceptive, difficult to stealth, say you miss a head shot and end up shooting him in the ear and he retreats. Say you meet him again later, the next encounter against him in the he’d be much easier to stealth and take down. It’d be great if somehow the striking combat from the Yukes UFC games could be implemented in these games, for me it the most satisfying punching mechanic I have ever played, you can feel every punch in that game and I believe the brutal nature would be a good fit for this game. I want this impossible game dream so badly! One of my favourite parts of TLOU2 was when it does allow you to explore open areas, I was excited to discover every inch of the map and find every secret and I wish there was more of that. ****************UNPOPULAR OPINIONS INCOMING************************************* There are criticism from some about this section because it somehow impedes the story. It’s a criticism I don’t understand in videogames, for me anytime narrative impedes gameplay is unacceptable. This game could have had a Crystal Skull and Aliens and I’d still have the same opinion about it, personally I can disconnect from story and game play so any moments of ludonarrative dissonance is never an issue for me. It’s not a movie or TV show and for the bulk of the game you are hiding, exploring or shooting so I’m not sure why so many are fixated on the narrative compared to gameplay. I just believe people put way to much stock into videogame story and just hope it doesn’t impact the overall verdict of games like this. **************UNPOPULAR OPINIONS END***************************************** Having said that I think Michael Huber’s review of the game was excellent also the opinions from Easy Allies are well balanced and level headed, really appreciated this. Hope you both have a great day. Robert Lee

Howdy allies. Long story short, June was the month from hell and among many other things that went horribly awry, my drawing tablet died and needed to be replaced. Thankfully I've been able to purchase a new one, but I was slowed down quite a bit. So, rather than my normal video I'm just gonna share some Unusuals art and game assets I've made recently. How do you do, easiest of allies! I'll probably be asleep when the showcase goes live, as I am starting a new internship tomorrow! Anyway, game talk. I finished Bastion this month, and I ended up really liking it! What really struck me about that game is how deeply focused it is on grief. Sure, the game has an overarching plot and characters (all of which are really good!) but the real "point" of them is for the game to use them as a springboard to explore feelings of loss, loneliness and remorse and how people react to those emotions, before ultimately asking you if, given the choice, you'd go back to relive what you've lost, and even if it recognizes that doing so could very well mean being hurt all over again the game doesn't judge you for making that decision. It's an empathetic, thought-provoking game that I'd recommend for sure (even if I think the combat has aged kinda poorly) and I'm very curious to see what else Supergiant has in store for me as I move onto their next game, Transistor. Also, I decided to give Final Fantasy 14 a shot. My best friend Sable (shoutouts to the coolest gal in the galaxy) really likes it, and at the time I didn't have a lot else to do so I downloaded the free trial and got to work. One thing I really like is how much fluff there is in the character customization, I mean, patron deities? Full names? BIRTHDAYS? But really, the fact that I can make a massive dude with an enormous pink pompadour and name him "Slab Hardbeef" elevates the game to a 10/10 alone. Low-level combat didn't do too much for me, but I've heard it gets a lot better, so I intend to buy the full game at some point to give it a proper go, since I wanna see more of the story and try some of the more unique classes like Samurai. In other news, I think my brother is trying to kill me because he bought me the itch.io racial equality bundle, and while I appreciate the gesture I do genuinely think the task of working my way through all of those games will be the end of me. Regardless the bundle did contain a ton of games I was really interested in, so expect period updates as I slowly chip away at my sudden backlog. Speaking of the itch.io bundle, let me make a recommendation to anyone watching who also bought it: My all-time favourite game, OneShot, is in the bundle and it's definitively worth your time. With a total playtime of around 6-10 hours, OneShot is a gorgeous, melancholy puzzle exploration game about returning light to a dying world with some terrifically clever twists along the way. I've talked about OneShot on several showcases before but I GENUINELY can't express just how much I adore this game. Anyway, that's all for all I got for tonight, see y'all next month! Love and Respect, Small Leviathan

Hi Brandon and Damiani My thoughts on The Last of Us: Part 1 - a mediocre movie with a great ending. Part 2 - a high production TV series that went too long. I do appreciate the work they put in their games. Details, animation and sound were a 10/10. [1] My favorite moment in the game that was not a cutscene or a flashback and only people who played it or watched it knows the place. [2] This is my recent WIP and finished it [3] couple of days ago. It went through changes few times and the final pose I got from a 15 year old picture. [4] 90% of mornings. [5] A bit more detailed person [6][7] Two people just chilling. [8] Ghost of Tsushima is less than 2 weeks away. Kazuya Nakai who voice Jin in japanese dub also voices Roronoa Zoro from One Piece which is currently 3rd (470M) in comics sales and potentially surpass Batman (486M) next year or two. [9] I only used watercolors for this one. That's all for this month. Hi Damiani and Brandon, Slowly but surely my Mega Man video is getting there. Going over old ground a little this month as I've finalised the animation, so its similar to what I've shown before but I have made some timing and pose tweaks, and swapped the Thunder Beam and Dive Missile around in the weapon sequence as its a bit more dynamic and breaks up the colours when he's swapping weapons. Speaking of that sequence I've done some testing on how the transition between weapons will look and have included that, along with a still of what the environment will look like. https://youtu.be/p-5fmwUCDdc Potentially could have this finished by next month, but know how these things go i'm not making any promises. Hi Damiani and Jones, How are you today? hopefully fine. The last few months have been fairly strange as i found myself having an unexpected amount of free time. Around March 2020 i picked up a game that until then i was certain I was done with. It is none other than Final Fantasy XIV. My first try to get into FF XIV was actually just a month after its rerelease. Right away I really liked the musical and visual presentation of Realm Reborn but ultimatly failed to get anywhere. I took my first break from it after i realised that i had to level several other classes just to unlock the ones i wanted to use. That happend once more after a few months free of FF XIV. Several months later the hype got real around „heavensward“ and i jumped back in. This time i reach level 60 thanks to the huge experience boost on the daily dungeon roullettes and finish all the Main story until „heavensward“. I start feeling the fatigue. Even though many people tell me how awesome the expansion is i decide to step down for good as i simply lack the time for an MMO. Back in march 2020 i try to organize my life around working from home and staying in for the most part of the day. Browsing through some gaming news i stumble upon an announcement from Square Enix. A free login period for FF XIV. Nostalgia strikes me and I buy all the expansions and start a new adventure in said game. Cut to today. I am now proud to have finished all the story up to the first patch of shadowbringers, the current epansion and what a journey it has been. Much less tedium, so many nods and references. So much amazing music and rearrangements of other final fantasy music. To me this is what a game of the decade looks like. Do not listen to the people telling you how long it will take to catch up, because this not an mmo based around trying to quickly reach the end and grind for gear (though you can do that :P). My only advice to someone completely new would be to try sticking to one or at most two classes at first and not pick up and try every class. I myself will continue my adventure and wish all the allies as many good things as possible during those trying times. L&R Alex_AI

Hi allies, the pandemic is still going on so I'm still stuck playing Fate Grand Order. It's summer time, so here's summer versions of totally historically accurate historic figures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqRH--gffdU&feature=youtu.be

Hello, Brandon! Hello, Damiani! It’s been a rough time since my bedroom has been overrun with bedbugs! https://i.imgur.com/4rQdVkw.jpg I first noticed them in late March, right around the time when the pandemic went global, and at first I didn’t know what they were. I only heard of bedbugs through proverbs, but I knew neither what they do, nor what they look like. When it comes to insects, I’m usually pretty lenient with allowing them to nest in my room, but one day I’ve begun to notice tiny black dots in the corners of my bedframe, which were bedbugs droppings. I took a cursory surface-level look on the bed and the corners to try to weed out whoever were leaving those droppings, but I left it at that and didn’t think it was a big deal. And then in the next several days I’ve been having a constant and irritating itch across my legs and arms. At first I thought it was random eczema that just flared up since I do have a history of skin conditions and I thought that the stale air at home during the lockdown was doing me bad. But a month later I vacuumed the bed and I just saw that it was crawling with bedbugs, and that they were leaving blood trails on the bedsheet. I put two and two together and my online friends have confirmed that those are definitely bedbugs, and that they are impossible to get rid of. Bedbugs feed themselves on human blood like mosquitos, they work overnight, and once a pregnant female gets a blood meal, it can lay on average about 4 eggs per day, and bedbugs can lay dormant for 6-12 months without any blood meal. I’ve been waging a continual battle with bedbugs in my room for over three months now and I called in the exterminators for four times, all in the hopes of saving my bed, while I moved to sleep on the living room couch. Sadly they always keep springing up and no matter how hard you try to spray an infested bed, there’s a good chance it still has crevices in which they can hide. I’ve noticed that wrapping the entire bed in thick plastic and sleeping over it is a great way to contain the spread and let them starve to death, but ultimately my family decided that we need to dump the custom-made bed I’ve had for 20 years since childhood. This is my appeal to all other Allies listening: Learn how to recognise bedbugs, because they are no laughing matter. They’re reddish-brown, thick and bulbous, roughly the size of apple seeds, and can be brought from long-distance voyages or public transport. Recognising them early is key to having a winning start, otherwise you risk them spreading uncontrollably and being forced to dump your bed or other furniture. If only getting rid of them was as easy as hookshotting skultullas in Zelda. https://i.imgur.com/cjyIo89.png L&R, Nik Gothic (@Clownboss)

The Last of Us Part II was a fantastically told game that not only enhances the the story from the first game but adds to it as well. It not only felt like a natural progression for the story, but a story as you the player helped tell based on actions you executed from the first game. Moments from the first game hold a completely new weight to them when replayed. Love that. I really enjoyed the Last of Us Part II and admired the risk they took with the game. A game that takes risks is far more interesting than one that plays it safe. They weren't afraid to tell the story that they wanted to tell or felt the need to pander, or center it around fanservice. For me, what makes a story driven game compelling is surprising me to the point I want to see where it goes. This is the first time in a really long time that I had trouble putting the controller down. In this game were characters, with real motivations, with dialogue that made them actually sound like people. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the game felt a lot easier than the previous game. I never felt like I was running out of materials. Stealthing sections felt more like a personal challenge than worrying if I would have enough materials or bullets for sections to come. There are a lot of extensive options though, so perhaps I just need to mess with those the next time I decide to play through the game again. Out of curiosity, I messed with a bunch of the accessibility options after finishing the game. To have a bunch of those options presented when you first boot up the game is incredible alone. Just the sheer amount of options is staggering. I cannot fathom how much it all means to gamers that benefit from these options just being available. I hope to see it in other games going forward, I don't see how they wouldn't. They should be as standard as any other option. I don't know how difficult it is to implement, and honestly if it means delaying a game... tough shit, delay the game, I think it is worth it and I'm not going to even use it. The other thing the game taught us is that gamers need to chill. If you don't like something, that's cool, that's fine. There are good and healthy ways to express that. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism. Constructive being key. Anyhoo, I think it is a great game. Easily the best thing I've played this year. So many other things I would love to go into, but, that'd be spoiler-y territory. Hrm, what else? Ghost of Tsushima is out in a few weeks, so pumped for that. Jupiter announced a Mega Drive & Mark III edition of Picross, so I am down for that whenever it gets released. More Picross is never a bad thing.

Hey Brandon and Damiani My Gameboy game is still going. Had a hiatus that was longer than I was expecting but I’m back to it. Got a few more screens designed and hopefully I can keep it up. As always, you can follow the game at: https://jon-is-k.itch.io/phenomenology Now for some games Played Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, and this was a fun little game. The game is packed with charm with lots of fun, quirky characters and locations and some pretty funny moments of self-awareness. Gameplay wise it’s a nice mix of stage based and metroidvania that encourages you to explore previous stages after you have acquired new items. It may not be the most groundbreaking example of a 2D platformer but it is a ton of fun. Started The Division 2 and one thing I”m very impressed by in this game is the level design and attention to detail. So far every location I have gone to feels completely unique from any other. Even offices and alleyways that would normally be perfect places to copy and place all feel original and distinct. Washington D.C in Division 2 might be the most believable ruined city I have ever seen. Gameplay is not bad either, so this will likely be a game I keep coming back to throughout the year. I tried out Dead Cells and it’s not for me. The game looks great and plays well, I’m just not a fan of randomly generated environments. I think I would have enjoyed it much more if these environments were handcrafted. Finally I have been playing quite a bit of various Souls games. Over on the MinnMax discord we’re spending the summer playing through the Dark Souls series, so far we’ve done Dark souls 1 and have recently started Dark Souls 2. For Dark Souls 1 I decided to challenge myself by doing a soul level 1 playthrough, this means choosing the pyromancer class and never leveling. There were some rough spots towards the end when pretty much every enemy could kill me in a single hit. Ultimately I pulled through and beat every boss. This gave me a new perspective on a number of bosses. In my more traditional playthroughs I could trade blows with early bosses and by the time I got to the endgame bosses I would have enough health and armor that I could take a few hits, but without leveling I had to make no mistakes. This almost turned some bosses into something like a rhythm game where I had to intently pay attention to every action of the bosses and memorize the action I needed to make. Along with Dark Souls I also started playing Demon’s Souls again. While the frame rate is a little rough and the games visuals can best be described as “muddy”, the creativity in these environments and enemies is amazing. I’m even more excited for the remake now. And there’s 500 words, until next time!
