Content

Next Monday, after Cup of Jones, I'm going online with Michael Huber to let our community handle the content creation for a few hours. There have been a lot of things in the past couple of months that are right in Huber's wheelhouse, so I imagine he'll have a lot to say about the games that you're all catching up on. It's also May the 4th, so hopefully one or two of you will have something to say or show regarding Star Wars (no pressure). An important reminder - I was rather lenient with our guidelines last month given that it was Kyle's farewell showcase, and I've been generous in the months before, but I'm going to start cracking down on people that don't read or pay attention to the notes below. If you stray from the rules, I'll just adjust your post to fit them. So if your post is unexpectedly shortened, or not included because it's delivered late, that's why.

SHOWCASE GUIDELINES

No submissions will be accepted past May 4th, at 12:00 AM PT.

While you retain all rights to your content, by submitting here you’re giving Easy Allies the right to show the content in our monthly Community Showcase live stream.

You may submit a comment, an image, or an audio/video file. If you’re submitting anything other than a comment, please host the file elsewhere and link it on Patreon. You can make a tweet or Instagram post with your image, or link the audio/video from a YouTube account, etc.

If you’re posting a video, photograph, or drawing, keep your comment limited to a description of the work. Leaving a piece of art, or a video, in addition to a long comment is a bit disrespectful of people who just leave comments. If you’re posting a lot of images, we will only show a maximum of 9, of our choosing unless you specify otherwise.

Comments have been known to disappear from Patreon posts, unfortunately. Double check that your post remained active before the day of the Showcase. Leaving a comment helps to keep it from vanishing. If you’re submitting text, save a copy locally in case you have to re-post.

Any text to be read should be 500 words or less. Any video or piece of music should be 3 minutes or less. If the entry is longer, we will edit it down to a manageable length. We reserve the right to remove any content we find offensive.

Only one entry per month. Unless you specify what you’d like us to focus on, we’ll always use the last post from each Patron.

You may comment on any submissions, but keep original posts focused toward the Showcase so no submission is overlooked.

Game Dev Update: A brief look at the potion shop, its NPC’s, and the process of brewing potions. I’ve put a lot of time and research (4 books worth) into making these potion recipes so I’m quite proud of them. P.S. Please pass along to Kyle, that per his request I have changed the game’s font. https://youtu.be/b1mnx01iAI0

Hello Huber & Brandon! I hope you both doing well during this crazy situation. While April has been a good month for MY gaming, it wasn’t good for my gaming environment. I’ll start with the gaming. I have been playing Breath of the Wild for the past 2 months and, I’m happy to report, it lived up to the hype. It’s a wonderful game that I just can’t stop playing. Expect a lengthy comment when I beat it. I also picked up The Ace Attorney Trilogy again after months of abandoning it for Smash for 3DS. Both worth talking about in later months. And lastly, I have mentioned before the cousin that moved in with us over a year and a half ago. Shortly after her arrival we found out she liked Tennis and talked about playing “EA sports Grand Slam Tennis” for the Wii ever since, but just didn’t for some reason. Turns out being confined at home opened the opportunity and we have been playing it extensively for the past few weeks. She really liked it and is constantly sending pictures of her accomplishments in the game to her mom and sister. Now, the sad part of the gaming environment. It’s no secret that the departure of Kyle is something that we are all dealing with, and while I’m sure everyone has nothing but good wishes for Kyle, his absence will be felt for a long time. There was another departure this month that hurt me even worse. I know the name Gus Rodriguez will not ring any bells to the allies nor to most of the community, but some other Latin fan may be familiar with him. He was THE Nintendo influencer back in the 90’s, starting as creator and editor of “Club Nintendo” (think of it like the Mexican version of Nintendo Power, I believe you got some issues of the magazine as a gift back in the garage era) and then hosting a TV show called “Nintendomania” from 1995 to 2000. He was also an accomplished comedy writer, producer, adapter; and overall a beloved icon for the people who grew up watching him on TV. The day his son announced his death, he became a trending topic immediately, with fans mourning his passing and sharing pictures and memories; even Mr. Charles Martinet (the actor that voices Mario) joined the conversation with his sentiments about the loss of Gus. In his announcement post, Kyle said that he had distanced himself from the Love & Respect signature because some people weaponized it from time to time. Because of that, and out of respect to Kyle I decided to retire it from my signature too. Think of it as when a sports team retires a number from a player. I decided, in memory of Gus, from now on I’ll use the phrase he used as a sing off in all of his shows and presentations. Estamos en contact. César.

Hey Brandon and Huber! So to be quite honest, I’m not quite sure what to make of this. It started off as a reimagining of “Silver for Monsters...” (a pretty well known combat track from The Witcher 3) but as time went on, it sort of veered off in it’s own direction so I guess you could say it was more inspired by it than anything. Whatever the case, thanks for listening! Adam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXCGRTei6wc

Greetings Brandon and Huber, I want to start out this month by saying that I was bowled over by the passion that went on in that room during E3 2015 between GT staff members-whether it was Huber's guttural reactions and hyped-up screams of joy, or Bosman tempering his excitement through the chair he was sitting on and doing things with. I understand it’s been mentioned countless times over the years but those reactions are legendary and make me realise the extent of pure joy videogames can bring and sharing that passion with others makes the world much brighter- it fills me with inner elation everytime I see it. I cannot thank all you guys enough for your passion-you are infectiously watchable. I understand Huber is the biggest WWE/wrestling fan of all the Allies (sorry Brad!). I just want to know what is Huber’s favourite era in WWE, favourite superstars and wrestling videogames? I personally think the Ruthless Aggression era is the best and my favourite superstars are the usual upper-echelon lot. I want to give a shout out to the late Sean O’ Haire-who is quite possibly the biggest missed opportunity in WWE-had had the look and athleticism to make a big impact that sadly didn’t materialise. The Rock’s heel run in 2003 was dynamite. Brock Lesnar was a huge favourite of mine during his first run. Then you have Goldust who was freaky and Booker T as his counterpart, Edge & Christian who were a superb tag-team and had great solo runs too and of course the late Eddie Guerrero-I still remember crying when I heard he had passed when I was 13. Gotta love Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman too although they were kayfabe management. As for videogames I think WWE Here Comes The Pain, WWE Shut Your Mouth, WWF No Mercy and WWF WrestleMania 2000 are the best of the best. For this month’s showcase I want to put forward 5 games I think should enter the Hall of Greats. Feel free to critique or commend my selections and my reasons behind them. 1.Grand Theft Auto: Vice City-A masterful GTA experience with a dense 80s vibe that boasts brilliant and ebullient characters, a magnificently eclectic soundtrack, a ferry load of juicy film/tv references and an astonishing level of awesomeness. 2.Resident Evil 2- The quintessential survival-horror masterpiece where those zombies and fixed camera angles scared the Beejees out of me as a child and as an adult-c’mon Huber you should’ve vouched for this one already! 3.Bully-What’s there to say? You guys did a Don’t Skip video on-so you must think this one is a surefire success that can’t be missed. The school setting was incredibly unique and attending classes felt highly nostalgic and pleasing. 4.WWF No Mercy-c’mon Huber you know it makes sense! 5.Uncharted 2: Among Thieves-Everybody’s favourite Uncharted-the game that propelled Naughty Dog into the stratosphere of videogame developers. The Last of Us wouldn’t be where it is without the success of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Happy Monday, Jones and Huber! I tend to default back to ocean poetry when I’m feeling a little lost in the world – and talk about feeling lost lately, it’s been kinda rough. So here I am with new ocean themed poetry, somewhat inspired by a podcast I've been listening to. (Anybody else listen to The Magnus Archives?) On the bright side, with this poem I’m close to hitting the number I need to publish a chapbook! I’ll let y’all know when that happens, because this community has been so insanely supportive of all the poetry I’ve submitted here. <3 For now, I hope you enjoy! Hello Huber and Jones , I have a question for Huber. A few months back you mentioned that you watched the Show "The Amaricans" (the Russian spy show) . I also watched it but , I never heard your thoughts on the ending. I thought it was great way to end the show but, I wanted to get your take on it.

Hi Jones and Huber! I've never submitted anything to an Easy Allies show before, I usually just enjoy kicking back and enjoying your content. But I’ve been dying to get my thoughts out for Final Fantasy VII Remake. As someone who’s never played a Final Fantasy game, I went in just expecting to have a jolly time. But I never expected to love it as much as I did. I think a lot of it has to do with the times we’re in. My all-time favorite game (until now) was The Last of Us, but I can’t imagine enjoying it too much right now, given how depressing and real it is. The over the top personalities in Final Fantasy VII Remake along with just how damn likeable everyone is won me over immediately, and I grew to love each and every character more than I thought I could from a video game. That, and the amazing environments that Midgar presents, made me enjoy every second I was in that world, and cherish every moment I had with these characters. A moment that stood out to me was when Cloud and Aerith venture off into the night, with the amazing soundtrack ‘Midnight Rendezvous’ playing. I must’ve slow walked and soaked in the night sky for a good five minutes. It all culminated in Chapter 12, where after finishing it I laid in bed for hours, unable to sleep and just thinking about the game and where the characters were at. I’ve never felt that invested in a game before, and it’s been amazing how much it has stuck with me. While I’ve loved the experience from the second I started, as I got further into the game, I started to dread it coming to an end. And after finishing, it’s been hard saying goodbye to Midgar and this cast for the next couple of years. Normally, this is where I’d dive into spoiler discussions, but I’ve had to avoid them for now. I couldn’t resist listening to a bit of the Easy Allies’ spoiler mode, but I had to stop once Kyle insisted everything was on the table. But hey... at least there's Valorant for the time being! Anyways, hope you guys have enjoyed the game as much as I have and hope you’re all doing well! L&R Linsen

Finally. I’ve waited five years officially, longer than twice that unofficially, for Final Fantasy VII: Remake. It took 38 and a half hours to go through my first playthrough, and by the time I did everything possible, including a Hard mode playthrough and obtaining the platinum, my game clock reads just over 81 hours. As the original is my favorite game of all time, I’m completely floored at just how detailed and the amount of care and love was poured into it. I’m extremely happy with Remake, so much so, it now reigns as my second favorite game of all time. It’s extremely rare for me to replay a story-based game immediately right after completing it, as God of War 2018 and Horizon: Zero Dawn being games that have come closest with a second playthrough coming within a year post launch. If Jedi: Fallen Order had a New Game Plus, I would’ve gone back to it already. Yes, Remake has issues. And the nitpicks I have are all minor like mini-game difficulty (which thankfully they’re mostly optional), and there’s a character who shows up only in one chapter and is never seen again. But to address the biggest talking point without spoilers: The ending is capital F fine. No, it’s not the worst ending ever. No, it’s not subtle. And no, it does NOT invalidate all that came before it. Of all the complaining about it, the thing that frustrates me is not the criticism in itself, but rather not a single time, not ONCE, have I heard or read anyone who “hates” it provide their view on how it should have ended. But that diatribe aside, I practically love everything about this game. And if I had to pick the things that top the list of what makes me happiest, it must be the character portrayal from voicing acting to story implementation and the top tier soundtrack. Chapter 12 was my favorite for the former reason and the end of Chapter 7 had me grinning like the Cheshire Cat because of the music. One final note about Remake: Of all the spoiler-casts and videos I’ve watched, Maximilian Dood made Spoiler Mode my favorite. I’m Level 4 brain and LOVING IT. Since Remake dominated April for me, I needed to get through a couple of other things in the 10 days before I was able to play Remake: The latest Borderlands 3 DLC called Guns, Love, and Tentacles and playing DOOM 64 for the first time ever. For the DLC, I was surprised I enjoyed the story more than the first DLC, Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, because the premise of breaking into Handsome Jack’s casino is more appealing on the surface than attending a wedding in a Lovecraftian frozen wasteland, but what’s in Guns, Love, and Tentacles is pretty good. With DOOM 64, I really enjoyed it and while I hold all the other DOOMs I’ve played in higher regard, it’s still a top 30 overall game for me.

Hey Jones and Huber! With the world in the state it's been, I've had plenty of spare time to progress in some games this past month. It started with Doom Eternal. I had a fantastic time with the combat. The bombastic action and constant resource shuffling made it extremely engaging. As a result, every moment to catch your breath and explore felt like an accomplishment, especially on higher difficulties. The lore bits you find in these calmer sections are a nice touch. Fleshing out the Slayer, your environment, what has happened in the past, and so forth. Props to the writers for making these surprisingly eloquent! If they kept that the quality, I would totally be down for a Doom novel. Another game I managed to tackle was a fun little VR puzzle game, I Expect You To Die. You play a secret agent who keeps getting put into precarious situations where one wrong move can equal death. The puzzle solving is pretty good at using the environment, and even if you fail many of the deaths got a chuckle from me. For an example, I was in a wealthy person's living room scrounging through their belongings. I accidentally pulled a wrong switch, which caused a taxidermied bear in the corner to swivel it's crossbow wielding arm in my direction, resulting in a swift bolt to the face ha. And of course, last but certainly not least was Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I've had a phenomenal time with this game! The combat system just got better and better. It was neat seeing it morph from an action system with rpg elements to a rpg atb manager with action elements. Everything looked amazing, minus the apartment door and occasional pop in. A solid majority of the characters were an A+, even some of the minor npc cast like the new recruit and hardened superior. And the music! Good Lord, that stuff is good! All of it culminated into some super high highs but also some devastatingly low emotional beats. All in all, it wasn't a perfect game, but to me it was a "masterpiece" That'll do for this month. Stay safe. Wash your hands. Play some games. 'til next time.

Hola Huber y Jones, Didn’t touch the backlog too much as there were new games I wanted to play asap. Just going to run down some impressions: 1) First up is Golden Axe 1 and 2 via the Sega Genesis Classics Collection game on the Switch with my son. The small upgrade to character design in 2 along with the good musicare still my favorite. The different magic use in 1 still has it beat, even if it did use your whole bar. This collection has 3 but had to put it on hold because of the next game I’m talking about. 2) Finally played Streets of Rage 4 with my son as well. Mentioned last showcase that we played 1, 2, and 3 on the same Genesis Collection on the Switch, so we were primed and ready. Loved the comic book feel I got from the art style and enjoyed all the new music. Glad to play as Adam again while my son stayed true to Axel. Great to see things old and new. Even on normal we had to think about strategizing health pickups, along with trying to knock enemies off the map like in the originals. My son says I’m doing “hacks” but honestly it used to save me so much time in these older beat-em ups, so I’m glad that mechanic still exists. Estel the police officer stole the show for me. My son and I also jumped up at seeing her special attack, a clear nod to Streets of Rage 1. 3) Completed Doom Eternal and I’ll be honest, as I hit the 3rd or 4th level, I was growing tired of the fighting. I realized I was having way more fun looking for all the secrets, challenges and Slayer Gates. At that point I dropped the difficulty and found the game so much more enjoyable. The lore was the icing on the cake. 4) Finished Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I struggled with the pacing leading up to Chapter 9. I knew they were going to stretch out this game to ensure a good experience, but I felt it. I’m glad I pushed through 9 along with the rest of the game which then went too fast for me. Excited to see what they do next. 5) Afterwards, I immediately dug into my backlog to play Nier: Automata. I’ve had amazing time right from the start. Haven’t had much experience with Platinum games, except Bayonetta 1 and 2, but the story in this game, and how they’re telling it, is so worth it. I think my only gripe are the creep vibes I get with 2B’s character design. There is some unnecessary stuff which is clearly noticeable when running or going up a ladder, but if you can put that aside, it’s amazing. Also, this is the first time I’ve wanted to see past the first or even second set of credits in a game. Currently on playthrough 3. Amor y Respeto

Hey! Elaine from New Zealand here again. I know I've been one to flout length rules, but that shall be no longer! The track I have to submit today was made to form, with it lasting just under three minutes in length! I will also try to keep my comment short. So in New Zealand, we have been in Level 4 lockdown for just over four weeks, with, at the time of posting, coming down to level 3. This song was made in the midst of Level 4, where the economy had basically emergency braked and everyone was made to stay at home unless they were essential workers (Which meant, alas, no fast food). I was trying to make something that mashed early-2000's pop punk with a public service announcement. Also, I'm still figuring out how to sing properly, so bear with me! I'm actually super nervous submitting something with vocals, because not only is there the normal quandry of vocal anxiety, I'm also a trans woman, and I sing like a guy. So that has made finding vocal confidence a bit harder than normal. It's definitely a process. I hope this helps you all get through the quarrantine you're facing! It's tongue is firmly in cheek, and built on a mountain of cheese. Love and respect! EDIT: I've submitted a less brutally mastered version so that it won't slam against a brick wall: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RjubdB_KN6MwwvMqMZdPfHWIXPLHaxdR

Hello Brandon & Michael. Do you like when video games have bugs? I love it for many reasons. Glitches can give you an inside on how video games actually work. They can introduce fascinating troubleshooting puzzles that will make you feel really smart upon completion. They can personalize your gameplay experience by making some parts much easier or much harder. And if game isn’t that good, entertaining bugs can be the only reason to keep playing. As a tribute to this aspect of video games, I present a collection of just a few bugs from games I was playing during the last 8 months. Please enjoy. https://1drv.ms/v/s!AsxRquOgIVix8xpuKkV1ERsP8XUK?e=kLelgk Notes for Brandon: 1. For better quality please download the video instead of screen capturing it. 2. This video file has two audio tracks to give you options. I prefer track 1, but the last segment has music from Final Fantasy XV, and you will probably get “no monetization” copyright claim on YouTube because of it. If that is unacceptable, play the video with audio track 2 in which this music is excluded. I hope two audio tracks works for you. VLC Media Player plays such files for sure and as far as I know importing in Adobe Premiere works too. If there’s a problem, please let me know.

Good afternoon gentlemen, I hope you’re doing as well as possible under the circumstances. This, of course, is when I tell you about all the things I did last month. ... I mostly played Animal Crossing. Here are some pictures. 1. April started with some cherry blossoms https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dX3zDT_sxF6psYlIjoxZ_prmQ4M6crD- 2. And Bunny Day https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ye4kf8B76zLWdLL1Em-gzchkPBN-53yi 3. Timmy and Tommy’s store got an upgrade so they no longer have to walk around the store naked, in just their aprons. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tU04XM_a1nhhBheacXG5e0ihJsrGC8rj 4. My kitchen is coming along. I’m very pleased with how well the white chocolate flooring works in here. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1r9DL12mFisLYOi_4zWakOhefHvmlZc8q 5. My bathroom is still a bit bare bones but there’s enough for my nightly routine. https://drive.google.com/open?id=12W15OrYQkkxfRZN5VcafxVP318UBbUfT 6. My basement office is a nice, chill place to get some work done. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1hzwPsKH-BnmCNa63eEE8PksKHGAY3ZeB 7. Also last month, Patty gave me a nickname. I’m a Subscriber now! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VT9X763guDHRi8uu6LS3q_NajFtZGlOZ 8. Elmer sent me this in the mail. Our friendship has yet to fully recover. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1W1FD5JamvLqsi-WuagObBMU3MzptnEO- 9. And that’s it for this month. I’m seriously toying with the idea of just submitting Animal Crossing updates every Community Showcase for a year. Hi Brandon and Huber! By the time you read this, I will have completed the first year in my masters music program. Ginny's cauldron game jam was ultimately the thing that pushed me to do it, so I thank you and the rest of the allies for continuing to provide amazing content and fun ways to interact with the community. To celebrate here's a jolly piece I wrote that basically uses every skill I learned this past school year. Greetings Huber and Jones! Hope things are going well for you guys. As for me, sometimes I forget how long it takes to create a story. I’ve been writing stories since high school and making comics since college, but I think this is the first time I actually did something that’s thoroughly thought out. Normally, I would just stumble my way through and hope that it comes out good in the end. Leaving loose ends wide open and never really finishing it to the end. However, the process has been incredibly slow these days with the stress from the world right now. So I’m doing the same thing as I’m doing in Persona 5 Royal, taking my time. Hopefully, I can have enough pages done before the 2021 deadline I’ve set for myself. I’m aiming for summer, but might be autumn. Maybe even winter. We’ll just have to see until then. So, for now, let’s just get into AniMay! We’re only a few days into the month and so far…. I’ve only done one thing. So look forward to next month when I’ve done them all! May the fourth be with you. Much love and respect, Sara Imshaug Zephyr Moon

Hey Brandon and Huber, This month I took part in 2 trophy challenges on the True Trophies website. The first involved generating a list of 30 trophies at random from all my unfinished games, and I had to unlock 15 of them to be rewarded the challenge completion. The second challenge was a hangman challenge. I was given a game name to spell out. I had to work out what the game was by unlocking trophies. Each guess was made using the first letter of a trophy name. My game name was "Valiant Hearts: The Great War". The hardest among that was V as I only had a few trophies starting with it. I went for Vampire's Greatest Hits from Castlevania Requiem.  Due to the 2 challenges, I ended up playing 21 different games. I got the platinum in 3 of those. They were from That's You, Peggle 2 and LEGO Dimensions.  I continued working Red Dead 2. I finally achieved rank 50 in the online mode which concludes the online trophies. Still have the story mode to finish up, and a few other trophies like studying all the animals and skinning each one.  Within the PSN sales, I picked up Trials Rising and have been enjoying that. The downside is they added a weird leveling system that locks you out of some events until you get to a high enough level. The odd part here is, there finale events that contain 3 stages. You unlock each of the 3 stages, and then the finale that has you race through all 3 stages in one sitting. The finale part is locked behind a different level requirement that the 3 stages. So you practice on each one and master it, then have to go play other stages to level up and come back when you have forgotten what was involved. I have also continued to play Apex Legends most evenings with a couple of friends. It is still a lot of fun, although I wish they would remove the King's Canyon map again as it isn't as fun as World's Edge and being forced into it every hour and a half isn't fun. (If you are not aware they added the old map in under map rotations). I have found myself closing the game when the map switches and coming back later to play on the map I want to. Hope you are both well and the chat too. Love and respect, BeardedScotsman86

Troopers! I have just received new orders. Our superiors say the war is cancelled, and we can all go home. Bison is getting paid off for his crimes, and our friends will have died here... will have died for nothing. But... we can all go home. Meanwhile, ideas like peace, freedom and justice - they get packed up. But... we can all go home. Well... I'm not going home. I'm gonna get on my boat, and I'm going up-river, and I'm going to kick that son-of-a-bitch Bison's ass so HARD... that the next Bison wanna-be is gonna feel it. Now who wants to go home... and who wants to go with ME!

Hi Huber and Brandon, Monthly Mega Man update! Have done a fair amount this month and have pretty much finished the first pass of animation, still working on the last shot and have a few things here and there I want to tweak or try alternate versions. Moving on to lighting, shading and rendering now, I still havent locked down exactly how this is going to look so I may not have an update for a few showcases. https://youtu.be/dl1v7nsaUtQ And just a shout out to Streets of Rage 4 for Huber Love & respect Dave Cleland

Hey Huber, can we talk about Enslaved: Odyssey to the West? Ninja Theory. Andy Serkis. Giant robots. Huge environments. Fast and brutal melee combat (the Focus Attack is OP but that's OK). And most of all: bonds. Monkey and Trip: master and slave, or comrades in arms? Huber, your thoughts please.

I personally think "Enslaved" is Ninja Theory's best game, in frankly, a long line of mediocre games at best. "Hell Blade" in particular was frustrating because of how much praise it received, where personally I feel it was way overrated...like really unnecessarily gushed over. For what, an average gameplay, with a singular style of expression. No, sorry people, calm down. Meanwhile "Enslaved " was almost entirely over looked upon release. Which is a real shame because Ninja Theory learned a lot of good lessons from "Heavenly Sword", which Im sorry- had serious issues that essentially crippled that game from being fun. Granted "Enslaved" is half a "Uncharted" clone with a few unique ideas, but overall the game experience was fun, had an interesting (although some what vague) narrative, good characters, basic but enjoyable combat, entertaining set pieces and was nicely polished across the board. Looking back, the biggest sin Ninja Theory ever committed on this game wast the fact we never got a sequel, one which it sorely deserved. ...And yes it drives me insane that "Hell Blade 2" is happening.

On a recent Easy Allies podcast Kyle shared my story about my Uncle who recently passed away and I wanted to talk a bit about his relationship with videogames. Although I very rarely saw him play videogames, in recent years he told me how much he was into Zelda when it first released, how he would talk to his friend on the phone while they both were progressing through it. One time he observed me playing through the beginning of Earthbound, a title I am very familiar with since it's my favorite game of all time, and he insisted that I check behind the trees, even though I assured him there was nothing behind them. This mentality makes sense when you consider how much he played a game like the original Zelda, and it reminds me of Brandon Jones' story of Amanda checking every door in Fable 2, regardless of his insistence that they wouldn't open. Similarly, my older brother is playing Breath of the Wild and his young children ask him to check out every single location they see. Of course, since this is Breath of the Wild, more often than not, there's something to discover. I wonder if they will adapt a similar painstaking level of inquisitiveness when they play other videogames in the future. Huber, I'm playing Streets of Rage 4 and I'm blown away. Growing up in the early 90s I played a lot of brawlers in the arcades and on Super Nintendo, but to be completely honest, I now realize most beat-em-ups are straight up bad from a gameplay perspective. There, I said it. Nowadays if I play TMNT, The Simpsons, X-Men, Final Fight, etc. they get extremely boring after just a few minutes. Their very design is unfair and simplistic, designed to consume quarters. On the other end of the spectrum, a brawler like Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara is WAY too complicated and I couldn't get into it. I played Streets of Rage 2 on the virtual console for the first time and it was awesome. Using a Grand Upper just before the final hit of your basic combo that would have otherwise knocked an enemy away somehow never gets old. There are back attacks, the ability to land on your feet after getting thrown to minimize damage, and you have to be mindful of friendly fire. It's the magical kind of action game where you can turn off your brain but there's enough strategy and skill required that you're always engaged. While there are certainly cheap, borderline unavoidable moves by some boss characters, they're relatively rare and forgiving compared to other games in the genre. And of course there's the ten out of ten music. Before ever seeing the game myself, a friend in highschool played the soundtrack he burned on a CD and upon hearing the music that plays during the elevator ride - what remained of my Nintendo fanboy insecurities finally died.

(Got to this late, but figured I'd submit just in case. No sweat if mine gets skipped!) Hey Huber and Jones! With the pandemic, I've had a hard time finding motivation to make piano covers the past few months, but I finally got back around to recording one. Here's a song I figured out from a cool NES game I've been playing occasionally on the Switch. It was originally supposed to be a Terminator game, but they lost the rights during development. Hope you enjoy! L&R - Ben https://youtu.be/R4k2m2JUZmU (Warning; video might be a bit loud.)

Hey Brandon and Huber, Thus month I don't have much to talk about so I went with some screenshots instead. My Wife and I have both now got our upstairs room in Animal Crossing. This is the first game my wife has played for more than an hour and I couldn't be more excited! My 4 y.o son just beat floor 12 of Luigi's Mansion 3 which makes me very proud, he usually hands me the controller at the boss fights but this level he did all by himself. On to the photos 1. Hello Jones and Huber! Unsurprisingly, my month has mostly consisted of Animal Crossing, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. And there is so much great music in both! I recently submitted some music inspired by Animal Crossing (and EZA), so this time it's FFVII's turn, with a relatively straightforward arrangement of Oppressed People, in a rather calmer fashion that the hectic version in the remake. I hope I'll be able for next month to return to Animal Crossing music with an arrangement of another of K.K.'s great songs, similar to what I had previously shared many months ago for K.K. Western. But that will be another Adventure... Until then, enjoy this one, and stay safe, everyone! Love & Respect, Kevin Gillet Link to the music: https://youtu.be/poEaM3H2iws

Hey Brandon and Huber Despite April feeling endless, the showcase snuck-up on me hard. The game boy game I started working on last month is still going, though I was having a lot of trouble finding the creative focus to sit down and draw or script so not as much got done as I was hoping. I’m going to try to counter that by setting a Friday deadline every week to finish and post something new about it. If it goes well I should have a much steadier pace in getting the game done. You can check out the game and an opening segment I’m in the process of redoing here: https://jon-is-k.itch.io/phenomenology So with my plan A for the showcase kind of botched, guess I’ll just ramble for a while. I’ve been focusing on my game backlog so I haven’t played many new games this year. Got back back to Control and my god, even on my out of date computer this game looks so good. The gameplay of course is excellent too, though I think I might be a little too complacent with my style of just throwing around chairs and chunks of concrete at everything. I also started Forza Horizon 4 and despite this game being full of super fancy exotic sports cars, I’ve found myself avoiding all of them and just using a Honda Civic instead. Tried out Bloodstained, didn’t like it and moved on. This might sound weird and petty but your character’s run animation does not match your movement speed at all and it bothers me so much. Started Guacamelee and that game is quite cool. The combat has a nice beat-em up style to it and some fun and challenging platforming segments. Now the game I’ve been playing the most, Animal Crossing New Horizons. I don’t have much experience with the series and initially I wasn’t planning on getting it. However the more I saw videos and discussions of New Horizons, the more intrigued I became and I must say I am so glad I decided to check it out. This game is an enigma to me. It is essentially daily gathering quests from an MMO, something I normally loathe and burn out on, and yet I love this. I never want to stop running around picking up fruit, catching bugs and fish and selling my goods for a pittance. I think the reason I enjoy it so much is that the game never pretends to be anything other than a grind. You don’t go into Animal Crossing expecting a grand adventure and world saving quest. It’s just so satisfyingly simple. Also the sound design in New Horizons is some of the best in any game I have ever played. There are times I go to the museum just so I can hear the wonderful subtle echo of my feet on the tile and be put at ease. Well that’s exactly 500 words of rambling, so see everyone next month!

Hello Jones & Huber. It feels weird to say that this is the FINAL Part of the Shenmue EZA-DUB Project. Think of all the laughs and all the tears. Think about how much we’ve grown. Think about what we’ve learned about friendship. I do plan on putting out a Director’s Cut with all of it together and some of the extra stuff thrown in. Maybe it’ll be done intake to rechristen the studio. Until that day, thank you for everyone for your support for the entirety of this project. Without any further hoo-hah, here is part nine. https://youtu.be/GogeD-Bmo80 Starring: Michael P Huber Ian Hinck Brandon Jones & Daniel Bloodworth Watch the entire nearly two year journey at youtube.com/litmitmedia. Greetings Huber and Jones, as the months of quarantine go on I am finding myself trying to put time into as many projects, games and books that I may have either given up on or frankly dropped, and despite having way more time off than usual, currently unemployed, I’m really lacking motivation. I tried to finally begin a full series read of Naruto, which I’ve tried in the past being a huge one piece and first half of bleach fan, got to the end of the chunin exams and dropped it sorry Huber. Also, I dabbled in trying to get some scriptwriting done, which hasn't been fruitful but if I get anywhere ill share in a future month. This may sound like a bummer but something that I did jump back into did turn out to hook me, and that was the City that never sleeps Dlc for Spiderman. It popped in my mind after scrolling through my trophy list and realising I had started the heist but never finished it, and decided to give it a whirl, and wow, I’m blown away with how much I overlooked this dlc. Although I do admit the plot that is established early on, with a black cat Spiderman previous relationship coming into the forefront, and a new mafia fight for power growing in the ashes of kingpins empire well, doesn't really go anywhere interesting, and devolves into hammerhead turning into a robot because? It’s very messy. But where this dlc shines is through its combat and mission variation and character growth for Yuri and Sable. The three new enemy types add so much to how I respond to combat, having me switch special moves depending on certain enemies and in particular the hideouts in part 3 really kick your ass if you don't explore how to best use meter and specials. Yuri’s descent into becoming a vigilante is shocking for additional content and really takes you through a mental challenge of thinking if she is justified in her actions or not and makes Yuri by far the most interesting character in insomniacs Spiderman universe that I can’t wait to see in Spiderman 2. Also, you get to fight silver sable which should’ve been in the main game and rules so that's pretty cool too. Anyway, check out this dlc if you skipped or meandered from it at the time, it’s pretty cool and has been a bright spot in a pretty dreary month, cheers from the UK allies.

Hi Jones and Huber, I took Brandon's advice and started a mobile game to get myself a daily obsession to keep sane in these times. This game called Fate Grand Order is about historical figures doing anime stuff, so I picked out some that would fit Huber (Axe, Wrestling) and Jones (Archer class Servants) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqz45jH87wQ

Hi guys! For so long I've dreamed of animating some of my favorite scenes from Tabletop Escapades. Finally got started, and while the process is quite slow, I wanted to share something in connection with Kyle leaving. So I was able to finish a scene from an early classic episode. Hope to be able to share more at some point in the future! :D L&R https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgQjzEAPGnk&lc=

Hello Huber and Jones! Another weird month here as my Sophomore year of college just wrapped up online, though technically my last final is Tuesday. I also got elected President of my org! Not the way I anticipated it happening in the middle of a pandemic - but excited nonetheless. I've already got to work by organizing some digital events, featuring some pretty big speakers, so Im feeling good about the newfound responsibility. With being inside so much Ive done quite a bit of gaming! Last month I replayed Arkham Asylum/City and beat Knight for the first time (which I bring up again for Huber). This month I bought and completed Persona 5 Royal at a whopping 118 hours. It is a truly great addition to an already fantastic game, and Id highly recommend any fans of the original to go back for the new content (particularly the 20 or so new hours towards the end). After wrapping up Royal, I just started up FF7 Remake. Im about six hours in, and the characters have already enchanted me (what do I do if Aerith, Tifa, and Jessie are all perfect?). When I manage to finish up 7 my plan is to finally finish Persona 3 FES, followed by finishing the original FF7 (of which Ive only ever beaten to shortly after disc 1), and then Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. I anticipate this Summer being a pretty gaming intensive one, though my backlog certainly isn't complaining. As I look to pickup a few more games - Ill pose the question of which to get first: Control or DQ 11 on Switch. One final note. When writing this (Sunday the 3rd) my cat of 15 years Tony was taken to the vet today after having some GI problems overnight. We thought that may be it for him - he was looking pretty bad. After taking him to the vet however we learned his labs were all good, and hopefully its just a bug his immune system was struggling to fight due to his age. e may be able to get him back tonight (May 4th) provided they're able to get him rehydrated and back to a regular temp. Just looking for some positive vibes that all goes well and he gets better, figure that the a little extra Huber luck could go a long way. L&R, Tyler @tmgm528

Jones note: My name is pronounced Soo-roo Zah-koo :) Hi Jones and Huber! For my first Community Showcase submission I want to share with you one of my favorite grad school projects - which I officially "graduated" from this past week. The final project for my Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality course was creating a very early prototype of Animal Crossing in VR - with the focus on making the game interactions *feel* the same as current game entries. Hope you enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6MeXX6ek_U

(Hi, Jones. I tried to keep the text accompanying these 9 images as descriptive as possible, but I do realize it is a frankly large wall of text for the art section. So think of it as just me conveying what these images are about *to you* and you decide how to editorialize that info for the showcase. Thanks!) Hey, Allies! I joined a Concept Art class since the last time I've been on the showcase and so there's been a lot of stuff I've been working on lately that I wanted to show you. Let me start with some character design. The idea here was to create a character based on a 4-5 words briefing. In my case the words were: tall, frail, long-haired, scarred, and intelligent. Here are the initial studies: https://i.imgur.com/MIQe6Ei.png The character sheet for the final design: https://i.imgur.com/hN1skcA.png And by far my favorite part, facial expressions: https://i.imgur.com/x3gd4Gh.png We have recently started working on environment art, which I struggle with a lot. Here's a pokemon-themed interior: https://i.imgur.com/clAiywx.jpg An illustration of a boy and his bear: https://i.imgur.com/tDAWn6b.jpg And an exterior shot created using photobash: https://i.imgur.com/OwKqPHy.jpg We also tackled prop design very very briefly. Here are some magical wands for a hypothetical Harry Potter animated series set in Japan: https://i.imgur.com/s8GlEgs.jpg And a few studies on outdoor props for an upcoming background that I'm working on: https://i.imgur.com/DWGz6LQ.png Finally, I've been having a lot of fun lately drawing Chi-Chi from Dragon Ball Z. Have some sketches of super-powered Chi-Chi defending her Goku and just generally being a gorgeous star: https://i.imgur.com/eLbRQRB.png That's it for this showcase! Love & Respect Ray

Hey Jones and Huber, E3 starts right... a couple of days ago, sort of... apparently summer game fest started may 1st and we are now in the beginning of 4 months of announcements, reveals and seeing all that next gen has to offer. Real life might be sucking right now but even with the pandemic 2020 is turning out to be an awesome year for games. I just finished the most anticipated remake of all time and somehow SE did not screw it up! The hype for FF7R was bigger than ever and even on the internet the majority of people loved this game. Awesome! We just had AC Valhalla announced, next week gameplay and multiple other 3rd party next gen reveals. Very likely May will be filled with a bunch of other announcement going into June. Later in June The Last of Us Part II will release, a month after that Ghost of Tsushima, after that... we get 1 month to catch our breath because in September it's Cyberpunk time. Marvel Avengers will release too, but yeah... lets hope they surprise us! After that, maybe a xbox release in October? A new Halo! PS5 in November? Horizon Zero Dawn sequel? Surprise release window games?!? What are you guys most hyped for this year? Is there anything that is on top or just too hard to choose? Mine was FF7R for this year and it delivered! Now it's probably Cyberpunk. Have high hopes for this one. L&R Jax

Hi Brandon and Huber. Tried a bit different this time by not inking and leaving pencil lines, then I did a six fanart challenge but forgot to # it until yesterday. Why is she wearing running shoes that doesn't match her dress code? They help lessen the stress on heels and don't weight you down when you run. You rarely see me do any backgrounds. It was very time-consuming so feast upon it. It was a nice change of pace at least. Stretching neck a bit. Bright colors for closing in on Summer. Played and got a platinum trophy on RE3 remake and here is to celebrate getting it on all three remakes. Itching to go back to play original RE3 since while I liked it, it didn't fill my stomach. Same with RE2. And let us take a moment to give respect to Leon's original voice actor Paul Haddad, who passed away. *salutes Thank You. https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1250054883635539971 https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1248505072234815488 https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1251497416081264640 https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1255948608479903745 https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1255374249239425027 https://twitter.com/tearjuengi/status/1255376338795532290 Love & Respect. Hi Brandon and Huber! Hope all is well and you are surviving with everything going on? Shout out to Jones for hosting the podcast now and doing an absolute stellar job at it! Now time for what you all have been waiting for, News from Star Citizen. I haven’t had much time to play, but alpha 3.9 just dropped, and the clip I’ve been working in is not fully finished yet. So that will have to wait for the next showcase! (sorry!). Anyway, This update is bringing some big changes! First of all the weather implementations are wonderful and you now have to wear the right kit for the right weather so you don't freeze or burn to death, as well as you can finally buy food and drink from shops around the verse. Everything from hotdog to pizza to take away and vendor machine noodles are available and you have to eat every now and again to stay healthy and it can even help you perform better. Me and a friend decided to give the survival mechanic a go and started walking around New Babbage exploring. We ended up on one of the frozen lakes and as day turned into night and the snowstorm eased up, we could get a beautiful view of the stars. After just taking in the stunning view for a bit we decided to walk into town and grab some food (Yes that’s me in the dapper hat). When walking around another friend came online who had just dropped a nice $380 on the new alien ship, Esperia Prowler which is a armored drop ship made for quick insertion of FPS players, in the heat of battle it will sweep in open its side doors and allow players to jump out and being agile to avoid enemy fire. He asked if we wanted to go for a ride to explore the new cool edition to the game… the Prison. Players getting a crime rating can now surrender to NPC police forces or player Bounty Hunters. This will put them in a prison complex where they have to wait out their time or mine for ore which they can trade in for a time reduction. Beware though, the mine is a dangerous place with scary creatures lurking in the dark…. Coordinating with your imprisoned friend, they can try and make their way through the complex cave system to freedom where you can then pick them up and take them away. Or like we did, enter the cave system from the back and end up getting lost, eventually bumping into security guards and getting blasted to pieces. Either way, it was an evening of great fun and it feels like updates are coming quicker and quicker to the game, which at least has me excited. I hope that I can have my video done by the next showcase to show the game in motion. That’s all from me! Love and Respect Lotias https://imgur.com/a/xx5V9cj

Hello Jones and Huber! I will be honest, I'm a bit sad today because I was working on something I wanted to finish in time for the showcase, but I couldn't do it. I'll hopefully have finished it for the next showcase, but that leaves me with the predicament that I don't really have anything prepared for this showcase. Hmm. I'll leave this post here and return to it if I come up with anything for the showcase. If I don't, then I'll just wish you all a good day! Love and Respect, Small Leviathan P.S. hey Huber there's a new Magic the Gathering set coming out this May that's set in a world full of kaiju monsters and it looks awesome. Just thought you should know.

Hello everyone. I’ve been learning how to edit video. I posted my first video to You Tube and within 10 minutes had my first copyright claim. I verified all the legality of using Live Loops in Garage Band and I should have been good to go, but it didn’t work out. It was a practice video, I challenged myself to not use transitional wipes, fades, zooms or blurs. I wanted every cut more dynamic and I think it came out really well for a first video. A little information about the video. May 3rd, 2020 is the 15th anniversary of Forza Motorsport on the Original Xbox. It was made backward compatible to the 360 but has performance and graphic issues. So I captured everything on the original Xbox. None of the Forza 1-4 games made it to the Xbox One due to licensing issues and since the Original Xbox has a leaky clock capacitor, limiting the life expectancy of un-modded units, and the Xbox 360 has the nearly unforgivable red-ring-of-death, well...the early Forza series will soon fade away. I’ve been gaming since the 70’s. I’ve seen a lot of beloved games vanish. So I made a video tribute to Forza Motorsport 1 captured on the Original Xbox. I plan to make more content about the other games that never made it out of past generations. My little way to preserve what I can. That content will be deeper than my exactly 3-minute Forza 1 clips video. This next part is for you Jones. I was in my local movie theater for the premier of Star Wars in 1977. I had never seen anything so amazingly well received by so many different people. It literally affected my life and how I thought about everything. As amazing as it was, I know that I will never see that original theatrical version again. As the new generation of consoles approaches, I am reminded of all the games that will fade into memory just like the original Star Wars, before they added Episode IV to the title, bigger special effects, and various “shoot first” scenarios. If anyone in the community is interested in my video, just search “Arcade Ronin” on YouTube. I’m not monetized of course so it is allowed to stay up, but I didn’t want EZA to get a strike because of the music. Any constructive editing feedback is appreciated. Thank you all. My word count tells me I have a few words left so I’d like to suggest to EZA to look into more reaction videos. You all enjoyed watching Kyle react to Pokemon, and I know you guys watch everything that gets announced, so just turn on a camera and react when you get ready to watch a new trailer or a game announcement. I think even a webcam would be good. Those first thoughts and impressions are always special. As always, Love and Respect to the community and all of you. Huber, I'll see you in Valhalla.

(Note: This is for pronounciation and isn't part of the word count, but when you read "27B/6", the "/" is read as stroke. So 27B stroke 6. It is a reference and I spent more time than I'd like to admit verifying this) I was perplexed as to what I would play in April. There weren't any games coming out. Although, little did I know that Picross S4 would get announced and released, on my birthday no less, and I am always down for that. Scotch and some picross, I could think of worse ways to celebrate given the limitations brought upon current events. Anyhoo, before that, I was befuddled as to what I would play. I didn't have it in me to continue Death Stranding, especially since I was back in Florida, away from my brother to quip with during the absurdity of it all. With no other games on the horizon, I decided to try something new, and start my first entry in the Animal Crossing series. I admit, I am enjoying it more than I thought I would be. I found myself actually sitting and thinking what I want to name my island. It came down to Regret, Unagi, or Isle 27B/6. I went with Isle 27B/6 due to my love for the movie "Brazil." Great, took care of that after taking more time than I'd like to admit debating the decision. Was hoping there wouldn't be anything else. Then I get the option to change the island's tune and flag. Well, shit, I can't just leave the default because that'd be boring. The issue there though is that I'm not a musician or vexillologist, so I was setting myself up for disaster there. Oh, well. I do have issues with the game though. Let me buy more than one thing in the shop at a time, especially at that ATM thing. I finally unlocked terraforming, so buying all the options with the miles was a task within itself. The online setup is rubbish. Format the online settings better so it takes fewer screens to visit someone. Also, the cutscenes every time someone arrives or leaves... that whole thing needs to not exist. Enjoying it nonetheless. Nothing else really to mention for games played. I checked out that show Prop Culture on Disney Plus. Love that stuff. Show me how it is made. I am a big fan of Tron, so I was delighted to see an episode dedicated to that. Seeing all the work that went into it is incredible. It was great to see Bruce Boxleitner, Christopher Lloyd, and even Rick Moranis pop up. Not really looking forward to any games coming out next month, so maybe I'll tough it up and finish Death Stranding. Hoping for a surprise. Did boot it up for the birthday stuff though. Gave my brother a call to joke about the nonsense. "All the cakes are handmade and scanned in." Great, Kojima, great. Sounds like a complete and utter waste of time. Congratulations. At least the end of May will bring the start of the final season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I doubt anything will top the Framework stuff, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they wrap it up.

Hello there Huber and Jones!  In all honesty, I didn't quite have the motivation to make a video or song this month to do a guided meditation with everyone. If it's something people miss and would like again next month let me know, but this month I'll be sticking to a classic written post.  After many months of progress, I've finally released my newest podcast episode. For those interested, this Happy Gaming episode explores how video games have been a source of comfort for me through my life as I've consistently struggled with depression. I talk about one of my all time favorites, Chrono Trigger, and try to address and identify what sorts of things games do that are positive and helpful for mental health. This was an extremely difficult episode to release. Depression is a topic that I didn't want to trivialize, and I really thought it was important to articulate my personal feelings honestly, even if they're hard to hear. I also wanted it to be positive though, to let others know they're not alone, and to just talk about how games are such a special thing we have. In the end, I was very happy with how it turned out. If you're interested, give it a listen, and I hope it can give you some good vibes!  Let's talk games: I'm taking as many small bites of that Final Fantasy VII Remake Sandwich that I can to stay satiated, but to make it last as long as I can. Getting further and knowing where it will likely end just makes me see the finish line and be sad to get there. I won't talk details about the game for those still waiting, but I love how it's just different enough that I can appreciate it and the original for their own merits.  I've got several big RPGs in my backlog, along with Control and Sekiro, but lately I've actually gotten very into playing some puzzle games. They keep my mind occupied in a way that makes me feel productive and like I'm exercising my brain. I spent several nights going back and playing The Witness, that I have a love-hate relationship with. (hot take alert) I love solving the puzzles in The Witness, but the philosophy audio logs started to get to me with their unearned pretentiousness trying to attempt to force and shoehorn meaning behind the world with no story. So I moved to a different philosophically exploratory puzzle game I've been enjoying a lot more: The Talos Principle. At least it's up front with its exploration of philosophy and tying into its story in a meaningful way. I'd definitely recommend anyone stuck inside to break out some puzzle games. They focus your mind onto a single thing that you're solving away from outside stresses, and can really give you that positive dopamine hit.  Stay safe everyone, and try your best to stay positive!  Love you all,  Love and Respect,  Brian from Happy Gaming

Hello, Brandon! Hello, Huber! As far back as I could remember, I always wanted to be a comic artist. Growing up with European comics such as Asterix and Tintin, and Japanese comics like Dragon Ball and many more, I became so in love with its awesome power of storytelling and expression, that I was always trying to make comics since I was seven. I was directing my life solely towards that ambition, and now I want to start writing on a comic I call „The Ingrids Manoeuvre“. „The Ingrids Manoeuvre“ is a story set in 1960s London: The time of mods and rockers, the Beatles, civil rights movements, anti-war protests, and generational divides. It stars two main characters: https://i.imgur.com/bOiSJAW.png Jeremy Arthurs is a law student and a bad-boy mod who drives a scooter and is an ace at billiard, until one day his grandfather gets murdered, which makes him set on a road of investigation and revenge: https://i.imgur.com/kZ7jpT3.png Opposite him is Nella Casket, a sweet and innocent girl who ran away from her country home, and is dazzled by the speed and modernity of urban life and the emerging counterculture: https://i.imgur.com/wzRE0Rf.png Together they’re an odd couple bound by fate, and I already made a pilot issue which serves as a prototype. I haven’t devised the script for the real thing yet, but I want to, as this is a project that I have really big confidence in. https://i.imgur.com/4PDqkRZ.png https://i.imgur.com/8vidbvT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/IraHVhA.jpg (Don’t bother zooming and reading from that page, it’s just for a quick look) Lastly, I’d like to give a couple of words to Michael Huber. Over the time I have been watching EZA, Michael Huber has been a constant source of light and optimism that always brightens my day. I’d say Michael Huber is so full of energy that you could build a reactor around him and he would solve all the world’s energy needs for the rest of eternity. And so, it has been quite shocking to hear about the many hardships Huber has had to face – his brother, his sportscar, I was deeply heartbroken to find out about these and I’m so very sorry. These events however did not turn him away, and he carries on with a strength and bravery that I find unfathomably beautiful. Huber, your radiance left a deep impact on me as a person. My friends frequently mark that I’m a light in their life as well, and I feel this is partly because your example validates me: That it is okay to be jolly, loud and always loving. I find immense encouragement that whatever terrible wind comes your way, that it will never shatter the radiance of Michael Huber. You make me feel like anything is possible, buddy. And following that, I’d like you to know that it’s never too late to practice drawing. https://i.imgur.com/HDTqGd4.png God bless you, you absolute king. L&R, Nik Gothic (@Clownboss)

I am sure this is to late, but I would give it a shot. I was going to do a picture of the gunpla that I made this month, the GM Custom and Jegan, but time ran out on me. I want to talk quickly about the games I played this month. When I say games, I mean really one, Animal Crossing for the most part. I also did play One Piece Warriors which I found pretty disappointing. It is an okay game, but not as good as Pirate Warriors 3 in my opinion. It skips around a lot in the story and feels odd to start over a hundred chapters in the story in the game. Animal Crossing I have played for hundreds of hours so that makes up for it. It is my first Animal Crossing since I was younger and got Wild World. I liked WW, but I didn't like it as much as other similar games like Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA. So I never went back and played anther in the series. Now that I heard so many positives about the series from Jones, I decided to get it. I don't regret that a lot and it has just been a joy to play and well I can see myself playing it a lot in the months to come.

Looks like Patreon ate my post, so time to rewrite it to the best of my ability: Hi Brandon and Huber, EVERYBODY is talking about FF7 and the ending, but there is another game ending I want to talk about (don’t worry, no spoilers in this post). This monumental thing happened and the internet zeitgeist seems to have already moved on. I want to talk about Half Life Alyx. Half Life is a series that means so much to me and always will because of both the impact it had when I first played it in high school and the world Valve created being more interesting and thought-provoking than you might assume at surface level. It is a story that we have been waiting for any sort of word on for so long, and without exaggerating is a series I have thought about almost every day of my life ever since I first beat Episode 2. I literally bought my house this year with one of the requirements being that I have the space for VR for when Alyx came out. I feel like Half Life to me is what Shenmue is to Huber; a game and series that I am and will always be invested in no matter the gaps in time and the silence in between. Episode 2 ended with the most excruciating cliff hanger, and without giving too much away I feel like Valve really put a lot of thought into how to handle something that initially seemed like an insult to me; make the next Half Life game a prequal. They did something similar to what FF7 Remake did; they kept it faithful while at the same time leaving the game open to an almost endless number of possibilities for the future. I went into Alyx thinking I would get some interesting story that filled in some gaps between Half Life 1 and 2, but what I was left with was Valve lifting a 13 year weight off my shoulders. It left me with an optimism for both Half Life and Valve that I haven’t had in a long time. It left me with tears after the post-credits scene. I understand why most people have moved on from Half Life and why Alyx has seemingly come and gone. The silence from Valve and the fact that VR isn’t exactly that prevalent yet for several valid reasons. But this game…it means so much that Valve seemingly put so much thought and effort to do us Half Life fans justice with a game that originally wasn’t even Half Life. Alyx began as just a cool VR game without a property according to Valve themselves. Valve proved with Alyx that they are master storytellers still to this day, and even though I refuse to spoil anything here I am bursting at the seams to talk about the ending. I assume at this point there won’t be a spoiler mode for Alyx, and that’s OK. There is much more story to tell for Gordan and the G-Man and I can’t wait. Thanks for listening, L&R, Will Schmuck
