NOTE: Unfortunately, the audio became desynchronized not too terribly long into the recording. As a result, the faces don't quite match the words being said and there are moments where audio gets stepped on a bit. Hopefully it's still an enjoyable episode and I will try to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Underused settings : - slavic folklore (if The Witcher series piqued your curiosity) - Mongol conquests (Khaaaaan) - Mesopotamia/Babylon ("Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia" hype) - India ("Temple of Doom" hype) - Africa (Mansa Musa hype)

While the battle system is a huge factor in the identity of the Bravely series, I don't think it would be as special to me if it were just that and the novelty of throwback design. The characters, while not that complex initially, are still very charming imo. The story subverts expectations by putting an interesting twist on the save the crystals trope, but perhaps taking too long to get there for some in Default (something they improve on with Second). After the first time, I guess the novelties of something can wear off, but I think it's also a bit unfair to say it's been overdone (I know not said explicitly and maybe not intended that way at all, but relating it to the "4th game" remark). Practically no one played Second to know the new changes and Octopath, while similar, plays noticeably different imo (different team than the Bravely games). In regards to the Bravely Default II demo, it's fair to say that it has some issues such as with UI, performance, and accessibility which might make it a bad demo. However, I can't agree with the battle system being largely a "numbers game" and not more reliant on the systems. Kyle's "4 Monks" strategy worked well at higher levels because monks have an ability that scales better with their level. The demo also caps your level and also allows you to fight 2 optional bosses that are significantly harder which shows that you can't just beat everything through grinding levels. To me, the appeal of the battle system in Bravely is because of the mechanics and systems in place, that it is rarely a "numbers" game. Here's an example of this in the demo (Story boss at somewhat low level and mostly starter gear): http://www.twitch.tv/a_rappy/v/589550397?sr=a

To Kyle: to turn off the map and compass UI, just hit the L2 button. I found this completely by accident while playing over the weekend. It’ll cycle between the two before turning off.
