This past weekend we made the tough call to cancel EZX. That didn’t give you patrons a lot of time to bring questions to this episode, but we do have a few comments addressing it. I’d also like to do an Editorial about the cancellation process (at the beginning of the episode instead of at the end) and share some personal thoughts on the difficult decision. You’ll also notice things look a little different today on Cup, and I’ll explain why.

DISCLAIMER: I take questions from the post comments on the previous week’s episode here on Patreon. You can ask a business-related question which I may answer live, or a personal question which I may answer below. If your business question was not answered live, I either replied to it in the comments, or referenced the answer in a recent episode. Feel free to inquire why your question wasn't included, or ask the same question a second time if you think I may have missed it. I will edit your comment/question before reading it live to ensure the show moves as quickly as possible. I typically grab all the questions by midnight (PT) the night before each episode, and will leave a comment when I’ve finished collecting them.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

SPONGEJAY1 - Given your love of things such as Batman and Star Wars, I'm curious if you have a dream developer/property combo in your head that you've always wanted to happen. Doesn't matter how outlandish it seems, if you've always wanted to see it, I'm curious what it would be. Personally, I've always thought it would be cool to see Criterion (if they still have their Burnout spirit) make a Wacky Races game or I.O. Interactive (the Hitman devs) to get the John Wick license. JONES - I’d love for DICE to move away from Star Wars after they get their fill and focus on a multiplayer-focused game based on the James Bond franchise. All the Bonds, all the villains, all the locations, all the guns.

ALI SALEMI - TRIVIA: Where does the phrase "Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series" originate from? JONES - You labeled this as “easy” but I have no idea. I have definitely seen that sentence somewhere before, but nothing is coming to me at the moment.

MORGAN MOHALLA - Are you a fan of George R.R. Martin's other works? Most of his more popular works pertain to "A song of Ice and Fire" and I have found the satellite material just as well written and entertaining. Recently though, I picked up "Dreamsongs” as an audio-book on Audible and have been enjoying it immensely. It is a collection of short, sci-fi and fan fiction stories from George R.R. Martin's early years as a writer. The stories are brief, but have a lasting impact. More than a few are narrated by the late Roy Dotrice as well. It is about 56 hours of content and just thought I would make the recommendation if you had time for listening while you work. JONES - I’ve dabbled in the extra Westeros stuff a bit, and I’ve also read Fevre Dream, his novel about vampires in the southern states of America during the 1800s.

Given that recently it was pointed out that Huber used to street race, are there any other weird jobs or things that the other Allies or yourself have been involved with?

I'm very sorry for not understanding that I'm crossing the line with my last week’s question. I will take this to heart and do my best to not repeat this mistake in the future. Thank you for helping me to grow and thank you for taking your time to do so. Sorry.

Hey Mr. Jones! I know EZA will be handling and juggling the fallout of canceling EZX for a while, and I’m expecting there is going to be a TON of related questions, so with that in mind, I only wanted to ask mine once, and actually be focused on the future: I know things like the coronavirus are completely unpredictable and impossible to schedule around, especially since this is an unprecedented time for EZA. But I was curious: For all future major EZA initiatives like Anniversaries, Easy Livin’s, etc., will this spark a, for lack of better term, disclaimer policy to take situations like this into account moving forward? Potential fall back plans, deadline to notify the community if things are still on (like a week before the scheduled time), or anything else that comes to mind that can help not necessarily be a “problem-solver”, but help be a buffer to help mitigate financial loss, time spent, etc.? Again, completely unpredictable, and as you’ve stressed multiple times last episode, we all have completely different situations from one another so it makes it that much harder, but any forward thinking things being place might not be the end-all, be-all solution, but it still would show, like you’ve shown last week, EZA has put considerable thought and effort to look at everything from every angle possible. Apologies if this was at all confusing, I didn’t know how else to put it. And allow me to say, on a personal note, I feel you made the right decision for everyone’s safety, and I greatly appreciate the promptness EZA has handled the situation to the best of all of your abilities. Thanks again for addressing all this and I hope you have/are having a wonderful rest of your day. Cheers! QUESTION: Moving forward for all major EZA initiatives like Anniversaries, Easy Livin’, etc., will EZA develop some form of, for lack of any better way to put it, fallback policy to take in account things such as illness, severe weather, or other factors that could be detrimental to putting on such events? While coronavirus was completely unpredictable, I was wondering if this instance would be something that might inspire more caution for all parties.

Hey Brandon, EDIT: This post has been rendered obsolete. :( I think you might remember me from my questions about the Disneyland trip. I'm definitely disappointed in how things are turning out, but everyone's security takes priority; no one should feel unsafe & vulnerable. Anyway, I still feel committed to my SoCal vacation, despite lack of any financial investment, so I will still be in the area and still be taking a Disneyland trip. Prior, the Disneyland trip was set to be on Saturday, which is an Annual Pass blackout date, but as you explained, it was the only option due to scheduling space. Now I know you cannot give an official endorsement not do I want one, but I do want to get a public announcement that I will be going on Sunday now and that it might be best for any unofficial EZA meet up should be on Sunday, barring no other conflict besides with the announced EZA streams. This way we can include AP holders in the festivities. But overall, no one should feel pressured to move their hard plans or even go due to FOMO, especially if they don't feel safe. I'll make a post on the forums but anyone can contact me as @cowfish13 on Twitter. Thanks, Austin

Hey Jones. Not a question, just wanted to say how appreciative I am of this editorial and that you treated this situation with the thought and care it deserved. I had to cancel my trip and got about 50% of my flight and accomodation costs back, which is handleable for me, but I know the costs hit a lot of my friends much harder (and the emotional cost for all of us was somewhat worse). I was supposed to leave for LA in 10 days, and having to back out so close to the date (after booking 3 months ago) was completely shattering. It’s almost worse simply because this year’s event WAS gonna be so community-focused, as a rule. That had me hyped as hell. A ton of community members I know were booked to come to an EZA event for the first time this year. I’m doubly heartbroken for them. :/ I wonder if there’s any sort of community-focused.... thing.... you could facilitate that week online. I don’t know what kind of activity would apply, but considering the community was gonna be such an intrinsic part of the event, maybe it could be somehow highlighted or involved within your week of streams. I have no idea what that could look like, or what forms that could take, but if that’s an idea you’re interested in I’d be happy to look into it more lol (just DM me or whatever). But maybe I’ll just spend a weekend Skyping my friends or something. Anyway, yeah, this sucks so much. I feel for you guys and know this decision must have hurt a lot to make. See you next year, I guess. L&R

Hey Jonesy, just want to say I think you guys have 100% done the right thing. The situation is only going to get worse, and companies around the world are avoiding large gatherings and asking people to work from home (as has happened with mine in the UK). There'll always be another opportunity for EZX, and fan's expenses is a massive shame, but isn't anywhere near health and safety in the grand scheme of things. Think of it this way, you guys have the fortunate position of continuing your work uninterrupted (mostly) in isolation, and we all appreciate you from afar. Most of us won't even get the chance to come to EZX anyway! You've done the right thing, don't feel guilty. Love and respect as always.

While I disagree with the decision to cancel EZX (making a Mount Everest out of less than a molehill is my basic thought surrounding this coronavirus), I was glad to hear that there was a lot of debate behind the scenes and it wasn't a snap decision. Question: What was the one comment in 4 years of Cup of Jones that you had a problem with? If you don't want to bring it up, at least a vague idea?

Anonymous

Hey jones! So we here about the beloved and dreaded meetings you guys have every so often. Was curious if we’d ever get to see inside one of these or if it would be too confidential. L&R Jason. Also sorry if this has been asked before I started watching.

Hey Jonesy, I know this sounds crazy but would it be beneficial to the sale of ad reads to have them available on the Patreon feed? I would gladly give up the ad-free version if it would help Easy Allies. Thanks, Chris

Personal q for a bit of levity: Disney Sorcerer's Arena is getting rolled out for iOS and Android atm. It's turn based battles with parties of Disney characters, which I understand is very much like Galaxy of Heroes. In any case it's a bunch of tapping and a bunch of numbers going up. Any chance you want to hop in and start a club? Cheers

DjDeathCool

Hey, Jones. Just popping in to say that hearing your genuine disappointment for having to cancel EZX has kind of sold me on going to your next event. It sounds like it would have been a really fun time and I'm looking forward to showing up to whatever you guys do next.

Anonymous

Hi, Jones. I want to start saying that your candor and honesty about the cancellation of EZX really moved, I almost cried and I saw you were holding your tears as well. I didn't mention it in my posts about EZX, but I kept thinking of your and Amanda's parents, as well as Kyle's parents and Ben's family. Of course the other Allies' families, the members of the community and their families as well. Just thinking about what you've said still makes me very emotional. I wish all of you and your families the best. Lastly, but not least, you absolutely did the right thing, so please don't feel bad about it. Taking care of your family's safety is the responsible and honourable thing to do. Be proud of that. To the EZA community. I hope that as unfortunate, heartbreaking and upsetting as EZX's cancellation was, that you can please watch this editorial and be able to feel how incredibly hard of a decision it was for the Allies - specially Jones. My heart goes out to all the people who suffered any time and/or monetary losses. But I hope that we as a community can understand that this is a very difficult time with a lot of uncertainty for the future. And that people's and their families' health and safety are above all else. I really wish the best for everyone. L & R PS. On a much brighter note. Play "Ori and the Blind Forest" and/or it's sequel, "Ori and the Will of the Wisps". They will fill with love and cheer anyone up.

I would like to add a comment to this, because even though I too backed out now, I wasn't going to originally. One of the reasons I did was for fear of backlash from the "You did the right thing" "better safe than sorry" crowd, who even though we like to talk Love and Respect can sometimes forget it in the comments sections when they feel their feelings have been stepped on by someone's personal decisions. I would like to say that there were MANY factors I took into account and it was an EXTREMELY emotional HEARTWRENCHING decision to cancel my plans (I am in fact in tears now) but I have my own reasons and other people have their reasons for keeping their plans in tact. We as a community should not shame them for wanting to make use of the services they paid for with their hard earned money and spend time with people they miss or have been longing to meet because an unfortunate situation and shitty timing has caused the cancellation of a larger event. Thats my piece <3<3

Anonymous

Hi Jones, Thank you for the emotional and heartfelt editorial on the cancellation of EZX I know it was not an easy decision to make nor was it easy to hear, and you talked about scope being the main reason you were so dismissive of the idea even being considered in the first place. You mentioned wishing there would have been a way to track the size of the potential audience and even now I wonder if there is some reasoning behind knowing how big that audience would have been, possibly for insurance reasons to recoup losses. Do you still want this information? I think a google doc of who was planning to attend and how much (approx) they spent/lost would give the Allies a rough idea for the purposes of possibly planning either submitting for insurance reasons or if they wanted to do what another patron suggested and host a fundraiser to recoup some of those losses. Just a thought.

strawhatninja

Jones, I was just curious if you started thinking about Easy Livin’ yet? I know it’s early but it will be here before you know. Any new plans or ideas that the allies have brought up that you can share?

I was going to ask you if you were going to play any Nioh 2 but it sounds like you've got a lot going on Bummer

Hall of Greats originally occurred on the second month of each quarter: February, May, August, and November. In November 2017, for reasons I can't remember, it was delayed to December, which bumped the schedule back a month such that it now occurred on the third month of each quarter: March, June, September, and December. In December 2018, to avoid having it occur during the holidays each year, it was delayed to January, and the schedule was bumped to the first month of each quarter: January, April, July, October. In July 2019 it was delayed to August, bumping the schedule back to what it was originally: February, May, August, and November. But now it's been delayed from February 2020 to March, which means it will once again occur in December, which you wanted to avoid. Will that Hall of Greats get bumped to January 2021? Should you consider doing Hall of Greats 3 times a year instead of 4?

Anonymous

Hi Jones I wasn't gonna comment on this since I wasn't planning on attending myself and felt like it would be rude to comment on something that affects other people (especially on a financial front) more than myself. But after hearing your heartfelt editorial, I just wanted to say that as a very very small part of this community I fully support your decision of canceling EZX. Even if there is a tiny chance of people being affected by this awful virus I think it's better to be on the safer side of things and cancel such events. Hopefully once everything works out and this situation is behind us, there will be more opportunities for you guys and the community in the states to gather around and have fun. Trivia answer: Oh wow, I'm actually surprised that you didn't know this. I thought it was very well known (maybe I'm just too much involved with the DMC community). But the answer is Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Dante (his DMC2 version ironically) was featured in the game as a boss. Now what a lot of people might not know, is the fact that SMTIII wasn't the only time DMC did a crossover with SMT. Just last year right before DMC5's release, the two series did another crossover with each other. This time Dante and Nero from DMC5 found themselves in the mobile game Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2. It was a timed event and iirc you can't get the Dante card in the game anymore but it was still fun to see Capcom and Atlus do another crossover between DMC and SMT. Trivia question: (Allies please don't answer this in the comments) Let's keep the DMC train rolling. This might seem tricky but trust me, it's way easier than it might seem at the first glance. So here goes: "DMC5 was the first game in the mainline series (DMC1-5) to break this long standing essential Devil May Cry tradition. Can you guess what tradition I'm referring to?" Again, this might seem difficult but trust me it's quite easy. Just ask yourself what could be an essential tradition in a Devil May Cry game. P.S: You can ask Ben for help with this one if you want, since I'm curious if he might know. But really, it's quite an easy thing to guess.

Hi Jones. The only thing I want to say is thank you for sharing with us about EZX. Im so sorry you had to make this difficult decision. But don't worry about us, we will be fine. Take care of yourselves, and thank you for all your effort , we love you guys! Ok, cool, later.

Anonymous

Ok I get it, sure. I can totally see where you're coming from. Honestly though, the real question if Easy Allies were to join a street gang with fantastic dance moves and exceptional in-time snapping, would You be more drawn to some sort of high speed aircraft or an aquatic predator? (I promise I'll only piggy back on AZ's bit just this once.)

Anonymous

Hey Jones, It's a shame that EZX was canceled. While it was no doubt an extremely difficult decision, I respect what needed to happen. But we should focus more on the positive: with the days around EZX now stream focused, I feel it would now be especially beneficial to focus on games that are community focused to include as much of the audience who were previously attending interactively as possible. JackBox which was a no-go for EZX can now be much more prevalent, as can games that have a form of audience participation, such as the PlayLink games where audience members can vote on decisions (Hidden Agenda, Planet of the Apes, Erica from a quick Google search). Even Telltale games may be fun because they revolve around decision making. Because EZX was more fundamentally about participating together, I feel that it would feel more like a community event if there was a way the people watching could interact in more ways than just Twitch Chat. That being said, if all the Allies played were adventure games I'm sure that would get a little stale, so I also trust all of your judgements as well. As someone who was not attending originally, I can't exactly speak for those who are now in the boat of changing their plans, I just wanted to try and be positive and brainstorm a little bit. Love and Respect, Brian from Happy Gaming

Hey Brandon, I've perused all Hall of Greats, each entry inducted and the Allies who were successful in getting their games inducted-but why hasn't any of Don's games been inducted yet? Don comes up with the most unorthodox and interesting entries and his presentations are brilliantly influential. I personally feel Burnout 3: Takedown definitely deserves to be inducted at some point-which leads me to an inter-linked question-will racing games ever get in? L&R

Hey Jones, With the cancellation of E3 this year, I want to ask this question. Business Question: What is the contingency plan for EZA now that not only is E3 is cancelled but the ESA and other gaming companies plan to hold digital events in its place?

Tetsujin

Hi Jones, with E3 being officially cancelled, I have one simple question. Will we still be seeing the suits this year? EZA's gotta have that suit-up event! Actually, I have another: How does this potentially affect the betting special(s)? L&R Tets

Anonymous

Hi Jones, Now that E3 has been officially cancelled, do you think that we'll get State of Play style videos for the big publishers that were planning on doing Press Conference's? This is the year of next gen (supposedly) after all. L&R Andreas

Anonymous

Hey Jones, First off, I'd like to commend you for your brave decision to cancel EZX, although obviously the cancellation doesn't affect me in the slightest since I live on the other side of the globe. I have a few questions regarding the COVID-19 situation. As I'm writing this, E3 as we know it has officially been cancelled. As far as I know, usually E3 time is where Easy Allies gets a lot of their views from. Obviously the publishers might still do a digital event or something, but you should be prepared to take a financial hit (thank god for Patreon though). Are you prepared for the scenario where we don't get any events at all? Secondly, as I'm writing this I personally am forced to work from home and cannot visit my 88-year old grandma for example. Luckily the outbreak in the US isn't as serious as in Europe (yet) but are you prepared to all work from home instead of the studio? Are there any precautions you're taking in terms of not inviting any guests to the studio for the time being? (Mysterious Monsters, Friend Code, etc.) Thank you for answering, L&R from the Netherlands (the IJ in mij last name is pronounced as Eye)

Anonymous

Hey BJ, Seeing the level of caution for Covid-19 increasing in the US. Will EZA be doing a Work from home initiative or decrease the amount of group streams? Thanks Smart Patron Iboshow

Considering Jones was not prepared for HoG he certainly knocked it out the park.

Greetings! I just wanted to say that while i had no intention of attending EZX, I feel bad for all who were planning on attending and for you guy having to agonize whether or not to hold the event but cancelling it was totally he right call with the way everything is going. I know it sucks losing that cash for the room and all so i figured I'd up my pledge a bit for the time being just to help out a bit during a frustrating time. Anyway my business question this, any plans on a spoiler mode for the outsider? It's been an incredibly great show so far and if you guys have been watching it I'd be neat to see what you think. Hey, Jones. I didn't plan on asking any questions for this week's Cup of Jones, my previous comment was just a message to you and the community. But after staying away from news sites for the past 2 days - I've ben playing the 2 Ori games. Today I checked Eurogamer and saw that both E3 was cancelled, but also: "biotech meeting at a hotel in downtown Boston appears to be the source of a cluster of the coronavirus in the U.S. — and a warning for employers who are still holding big gatherings as the outbreak spreads." "77 of the 95 confirmed cases in Massachusetts have been linked to a meeting of executives with Biogen" "An additional 12 people who have tested positive for the virus outside Massachusetts have been linked to the Feb. 26-27 meeting, including five in North Carolina, two in Indiana, and one each in New Jersey, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., officials said. Two tested positive in Europe, Biogen spokesman David Caouette said Wednesday." "The Biogen cluster underscores the danger in continuing to host business gatherings as the virus, which has sickened tens of thousands of people since emerging in China in December, spreads, said Marc Lipsitch, a Harvard University infectious disease epidemiologist." "We need to stop having meetings like that," he said, noting a smaller cluster had been linked to a business conference at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore in January. "I think a lot of companies have concluded that on their own." "The Boston conference gathered roughly 175 company executives for two days of meetings at the Marriott Long Wharf hotel" NBC Boston - After Spreading Coronavirus, Boston Biogen Meeting Serves as Stark Warning: Source: https://www.nbcboston.com/news/coronavirus/boston-biogen-meeting-coronavirus-warning/2089438/ This is exactly the kind of situation I was dreading could happen at EZX - and E3 and The Olympics as well. My question is a request, please read this on Cup of Jones so there's enough exposure to the Patrons. Cancelling EZX was absolutely the right and responsible thing to do. I also demand that you stop beating yourself over it, Jones. You are a kind and good man. I understand you feel responsible and guilty, but this virus is out of our control. So please, be happy and cheerful. That's the Jones we want to see. L & R PS. This is from Jason Schreier: "Warner Bros. Games was planning to do an E3 press conference this year for the first time, to talk about Batman, Harry Potter, and Rocksteady's game among others. Remains to be seen what they'll do now". This hurts so much. T_T

Joseph La Russa

Hey Jones, was the Silver Squad video that you uploaded streamed live on Twitch? Can you make that available if it was? I'd like to see you guys reacting to the highlights. L&R!

EasyAllies

You can find it in the past broadcasts a couple weeks ago, and the beginning of that stream was published on Easy Allies Plays today. However, they did not react to the video itself, they just played a rough cut of it full screen while they shot the podcast. -Bloodworth

Anonymous

Hey Jones, I know you and the other allies worked hard on EZX, so my question is: how much of that work is salvageable should you choose do it at a later date? Even if you can't do EZX this year, is any of that work able to be used for next year? I just hate to see all of it go to waste. Cheers!

Anonymous

I don't like being the negative one. But I have read a lot of things, on sites like Reddit, that I myself do not believe, but questions that I think could at least spark an interesting conversation. Do you think the that the Allies have grown 'stagnant'. In a loop of creating the same content without really challenging yourselves to go further? Are we as an audience promoting this? By liking pretty much everything you make, by acquiescing to things like delays, not really pushing you; does that create an environment that isn't conducive to creativity? Are you happy with things, on a personal creative level, hell even just generally? God that hurt to write, just wanted to restate that I personally am happy with things. But sometimes you read something and can't get it to leave your head. Also what was the process of removing Kyle's share of the business like? What sort of things did you have to do? I'm interested in this from the business perspective of things as well. Thank you.

Anonymous

Morning Jones! I just read Kyle's post about leaving EZA. Needless to say, the news took me by total surprise, and I can't imagine how tough it has been knowing this and not being able to say anything. Do the remaining eight Allies have a plan going forward? I know replacing Kyle is impossible, but do you plan on bringing a new Ally into the fold?

Anonymous

Dear Jones It’s hurts that Kyle is leaving. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for you guys. This doesn’t even need to be addressed on CoJ. I just feel bad. Ugh. You guys are still the best though.

Anonymous

As a person with a heartbeat, I am devastated to see Kyle leave. As a soulless marketing strategist, ooh baby, your denominator went from 9 to 8, and that’s more money every single month. It’s well documented that you have a laundry list of hardware and other equipment that’s needed, but once that’s handled, what’s the plan for those funds? Do they continue to be reserved for more equipment, or is there a grander ambition the Allies can begin to save for? My hope is for a Gundam stream with a real Gundam, but something remotely realistic would be fine too. PS looking forward to Kyle starting his OnlyFans page

Anonymous

With Kyle announcing him leaving the Allies, what are your plans to fill the hole he is leaving? Are you going to be recruiting someone new to be taking over some of his responsibilities ? Delegating it out amognst yall? L&R

Badalight

I'm sure I won't be the only one asking a question like this. With the recent news of Kyle leaving, you will be taking over podcast duties. One of my favorite things about the Easy Allies podcast was Kyle's bits and the goofy nature of everything. It's what got me into Easy Allies to begin with. Will you do anything to try and retain some of this feeling or will you be taking it in a new direction?

Anonymous

To piggy back on this - Jones please don't try to emulate Kyle. You need to do your own thing.

Anonymous

Hey Jones, I'm not sure if this will be addressed in the next few days before Cup of Jones starts, but I saw recently that Kinda Funny will be working from home starting next week. While I'm sure what I'm asking would have an effect on the anniversary celebration (and I know a lot of changes were already made), are you currently considering doing the same? Just asking because it would break my heart to see any of you get sick, and I want to make sure you are all ok.

Anonymous

Jones, this is probably totally obvious, but we need some reassurance on the next Cup of Jones. With the recent news of Kyle's departure, I'm having similarly devastated feelings as to when we heard about the GT closure. That's not at all a lack of confidence in the other Allies, but rather a simple acknowledgement that change is hard and Kyle will be missed. I look forward to hearing from you about the future of the Allies. I know it will be great!

Anonymous

Heya Jones, Oh, wow. No, but-- OK, so here goes. So like if Easy Allies was a group of dancers auditioning for a Broadway show, how much are they going to miss their friend when he decides it's time to move on?

Dale Cooper

Hi Jones, I had an idea for the final group stream if I may suggest it. A highlight video of the best Kyle moments as voted by the community. If not GT and EA then just EA. Much love for the group, Patrick

Anonymous

First and foremost I hope they spread the “salary” between them to help with their financial security after everything is said and done. It really depends on if Kyle’s exit involves a buyout or if he will simply relinquish his rights to the company. After that it’s open game, but I hope they take care of themselves personally first.

Anonymous

Jones, Everyone's going to have different thoughts on what "Kyle things" they want to see EZA keep attempting. I know you all have to be true to yourselves, and you can't just make "bits" happen for example. What do you want to see EZA learn from Bosman's example after he leaves? The thing I'll miss most is the feeling of Friday streams and Kyle's relationship with chat (which is what led to bits, fanart, etc.). That's not something you can just recreate but it's also something I hope everyone can learn a little from.

Anonymous

Jones, this is scary. We're all a little scared about the future of EZA. While I certainly think EZA with 8 of the 9 members is still a wonderful proposition, the loss is felt hard. What is the near future of EZA? Is it just doing what you have been doing but without Kyle? I feel like it might be a time to shake things up.

Anonymous

Hey Jones, long time Patreon, second comment ever, first Cup of Jones comment. You talked about checking in on Easy Allies morale in past videos. Given Kyle’s departure, I could not help but wonder: Are the other Allies happy and creatively satisfied? I understand the feeling of wanting change, but at the same time, from afar, Easy Allies seemed like a pretty flexible gig to me. It has been hard for me to wrap my head around Kyle’s french fries analogy given how much EZA has been able to change over 4 years. Do you view yourself as french fries?

Anonymous

Personal question: We all know your preference for the Bow in video games but have you ever tried archery in real life? I did competitive archery for a few years in middle school and it was a lot of fun.

Anonymous

Oh, you were nervous to see if the podcast numbers took a hit with you hosting... listening to Cup of Jones after Kyle's announcement is like rewatching a movie for clues when you know how it ends already. :P

Anonymous

How are you doing, Jones? Hope you are doing as well as you can! With the world the way it is right now, don't you think it is finally time to grab the Allies and head outdoors, forest bathe all the worries way, and bond under the stars? What can we do to help make this happen? I understand some Allies may be hesitant and I wouldn't suggest "kidnapping", but perhaps there some unconventional "tools" and/or "methods" you could "borrow" from oh I dunno, maybe Don? Just wanted to get a hype check for Easy Living Outdoors. -Evandonuts

ps - I don't know if you know this already but the person who created the Seinfeld game in Dreams apparently streamed the making of it. It might be worth a look to see how he did some of it: https://www.youtube.com/user/austinharveystock/videos

Hi Jones - now that you are taking over the podcast, would you reconsider your COJ commitment, perhaps by handing it to another Ally? (I would absolutely tune in to Cup of Blood fwiw)

For Kyle, french fries are comfort food. Easy Allies is comfort food to him. It's relaxing, it's comfy, but it may not force his full creative potential out like something that may demand the most out of him.

It's not hard to notice the huge amount of love and care you put into the Silver Squad movie. In light of recent news, I was wondering if you intended that as an almost farewell gift to Kyle? Or if his leaving in any way motivated you to really put your all into it.

Hey Jones, With the unfortunate news of Kyle leaving came the news that you will be taking over as moderator of the podcast and I just wanted to know your thoughts on that. Has Kyle given you lots of tips? Do you plan to keep it relatively the same with corrections, opening bits, etc. or do you feel like you might try to shape it into your own thing? If it's not too early to share some of these details, I'd love to know. I did enjoy you taking over while Kyle was back with his family and it definitely did have it's own vibe so I am excited to see where you take it full time. L&R Logan Tawse

G'day Jones, Before I start: I'm one of those ride-or-die patrons, who will be here until the day that Milo finally defeats you in combat, steals your voice, and locks you away in a prison of your own mind. So please don't take anything here as a criticism or veiled threat to cancel my pledge. In the wake of the news of Kyle's departure, I'm sure you've seen a lot of the community responses that basically go like his: "I followed GT because of Final Bosman, and I can't imagine EZA without Kyle." I'm sure you're also concerned that those comments indicate a number of people who might step away as patrons when Kyle leaves at the end of April. To prevent this, I think now might be the best possible time to show that EZA still has a butt-load of momentum, and jolly, weird ideas. My one request is that you don't wait until Kyle leaves to show us what Phase 5/The Great Eight has in store for us. As soon as possible, start something completely new that doesn't require Kyle at all. Start a new season of Achieve it Yourself, or another limited run series, that Kyle has no involvement in (or only appears as a guest in one episode). Maybe redirect resources from a show that is less successful. If you've ever thought of bringing on a new ally, now might be the time. We're all going to be extremely sad to see Kyle leave, but let's not go into mourning before then. Let's look toward a bright new future, and many more years of 8 of the most passionate people in video games. Lots of love and respect, James

Dear Jones, My heart is broken. I am dead inside now. The world is ending, Kyle Bosman is leaving, and I'm quarantined inside my trailer with nothing but the internet and video games to live off of until my supplies dwindle and I eventually starve... What video games do you recommend in times of crisis like this?

Howdy Jones, I'm sure you are currently being bombarded with questions about kyle's departure..and i'm adding to the pile, sorry. I've been a patreon of EZA for 1 year exactly(i believe) and although i've only discovered you guys recently, compared to other community members who've known you for years, it hurts, a lot. Like many in this community you guys are the family i've never met personally, yet i can say I love each and everyone of you because you've provided me hours and hours of entertainment, excitement and joy that i will always cherish, specially because it all happened during a dark time in my life. I was diagnosed with depression and i'm still fighting it, but a year ago i stopped talking to my friends, i didn't even go to school for a whole semester(i'm in college), i just stayed home and the only thing keeping me sane and helping me get out of bed were you guys. Watching your streams, being there with you the whole time live during e3, the many times i've rewatched fiasconauts(yes i'm one of those), cup of jones(never missed an episode) and every content you produce, i watched it all and it made you guys my family whether you like it or not. It won't feel the same without kyle and he will always have a place in my heart. Now, because we're family Jones, and i wouldn't ask this otherwise, how are you and the allies feeling? I've seen a lot of questions worried about the state of the podcast and how are things going to go from here, but i think at a time like this it's easy to forget that you guys have been friends for many years and this has got to hurt you the most.. So, just as you have been there for me, i want to be there for you. Now, if it hasn't been addressed already, since kyle mentioned in his Q&A that you guys already knew this since your meeting in january, you probably have something planned out concerning these changes, can you talk about them now? Finally, i just want to assure you that I will always keep supporting you guys here on patreon and however I can, kyle may have left but there are still 8 big reasons to keep hanging around. Lots of Love and Respect, Andre

Mr. Jones, I'm sure this has been asked above, but how will you and the Allies honor Kyle upon his departure? Though I hate to see Kyle leave because of all he has done for EZA, this feels like a time to celebrate the Ally that is Kyle Bossman. Would the Allies be willing to put in a little extra effort to let him know he will be missed as well as valued and respected? Kyle Bossman Retrospective perhaps.... Also is it in the budget to have a bust of Kyle (or at least a cardboard cutout) made to be displayed at the studio? L&R Morgan Mohalla

With all that has been going on the last week, I would rather not bother anyone by going on a long-winded post so I'll keep it short. My question: Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Have Kyle on April's Community Showcase. Speaking on behalf of the Community we would love to celebrate Kyle's last month with a show of appreciation via the diverse mediums we draw, shoot, sing, compose, edit, and type every month as a blowout farewell to a man that has given us immeasurable joy for the past 7 years. Please keep this in mind when making you selection for witch ally takes the seat next to you in April. L&R.

Dear Jones, Can you play Disnelyand Adventures during EZX? It would be the next best thing to doing a Disneyland trip. Much Love to the Easy Allies, Austin
