There aren’t that many scripts to write, podcasts to shoot, and games to stream before we break for the holidays, so I’ll talk a bit about what to expect from us this month as we look at our schedule. Box Peek is wrapping up, but Prison of Love is just getting started, and there are more episodes of Don’s Design Lab and Occasional Board Game Show coming up. We had to get a little creative with our calendar to accommodate things like Bosman working on The Game Awards, and several allies heading out of town to spend time with their families. Nevertheless, the show must go on!

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

DANIEL RIBEIRO - What's the score you give to both Batman (1989) and Batman Begins (2005) on a scale of 0 to 10? JONES - I’d give both movies an 8 out of 10. I think Katie Holmes is absolutely terrible in Batman Begins, which brings down the whole thing for me, because Bruce is so obsessed with her. I think Burton’s vision is very campy considering all the realistic takes we’ve been gifted since it was made, but it has some of my favorite Batman/Joker moments, fun practical special effects, a pleasing noir-aesthetic, and Danny Elfman’s score is so, so, so good. I actually dislike Burton’s take on Joker’s origin story. I don’t like the idea that Jack Napier is a scumbag before he becomes Joker. It’s as if he just puts on makeup, wears a purple suit, and starts acting silly. I don’t get the vibe that he’s struggling with his sanity, or completely unhinged. He kind-of just gets goofy. That said, I can’t wait to read your reviews of these movies! Here we go!

Hey Mr. Jones! There’s only a few Cups left in 2019, so I was hoping to take an opportunity to ask: Now that we here at the end, what is your evaluation of 2019 for Easy Allies? The great, good, and needs improvement and as a result, what, if you’re willing to disclose, are some goals you would like to EZA accomplish for 2020? Thanks again for answering my question and have a wonderful rest of your day! Cheers! P.S.: Awesome top 10 Anticipated games! I’m doing mine for the next Community Showcase! QUESTION: What is your evaluation of 2019 for Easy Allies? The great, good, needs improvement and if you’re willing to disclose, what goals do you want EZA to accomplish in 2020?

Sorry Brandon, I just recently became a patron at $1 tier, and I'm having a bit of trouble finding the exclusive shows like season one of "Achieve it Yourself" and "And For That Reason". I tried manually looking through the exclusive episodes/shows section but with the browser loading up every video it just becomes a slog and stutters a lot. So this isn't really a Cup of Jones kind of question but a more general question about how I can access those things more easily. Thanks again and sorry to bother you with this.

EasyAllies

Sorry you missed it, but we sent out a link with your e-mail to an index of all the exclusives. You can also find it in the description of the $1 tier. You can find them all here: https://easyallies.com/#!/exclusives -Bloodworth

Hello, sir! Seeing the volume of work you and the Allies put out in order to stay on top of the fall season had me spinning. Reviews alone seemed a monumental task that you all somehow managed in the midst of everything else. My question is, have you thought about breaking up the task load by hiring outside contractors? I could see lots of potential benefits for EZA coverage, especially the busy review seasons.

EasyAllies

Editing hasn't really been a bottleneck, and as far as playing, reviewing, and writing about games goes, that's just not the type of thing we can really outsource at EZA. We're just not that type of publication. Our audience knows our writers and wants to hear from them, not someone else they're unfamiliar with, published under the Easy Allies brand. -Bloodworth

Hey Jones! I'm not sure if this has been asked yet, but I was curious about something. Last year (I think around Thanksgiving) was a quick free/public 15 minute or so Cup of Jones episode just giving the state of the business and some quick information on upcoming events. If you think about it, that video from Thanksgiving of last year was pre-Milo, pre-Mysterious Monsters, PRE-STUDIO Easy Allies. As a casual observer at the time, it was exciting to have the curtain pulled back to see what was coming up for Patrons, plans for the Anniversary party, the search for the studio, and the business in general. That was the video that convinced me to transition from YouTube lurker to Patron. I even ended up attending the anniversary celebration and meeting folks (So the free episode of Cup did its job!). Were you planning on doing a public/free Cup of Jones again this year?

Life is Strange 2 is hands down my GOTY 2019. It does not seem to be on your list of games to check out before the end of the year. Since it is in easily digestible episodes, please consider trying out episode one to see if it will hook you if you have not already. L&R Matt

Hi, Matt. I couldn't agree more with this. LiS is life!!! Also, Jones mentioned he was very interested in Virginia, but never played it. It's a very interesting and great game similar to Twin Peaks, but has its own ideas. It's very short like a movie, it can be finished in 2 hours - 3 hours and a half if one wants to complete everything. Since you like LiS, I also recommend it to you, Matt. L & R

Waiiiiiit a second. What is your frozen take?? You only teased it last time and I thought you would get a lot of questions about but here we are. Love Elsa. She’s ma girl. Poor little thing. I just want her to be happy. And the music is so good. Maybe the victim of it’s fame... but i love it :)

Hi, Tim. Jones said it was the same issue he had with Moana, which he said the story is "simple". Further adding that "the characters say that they're gonna do something and then they do it". Basically, implying that a simple story can't be good or great. Though Jones did say he hates Frozen, I believe he explained why in a previous CoJ, but I can't be certain. However, I would love to read/listen to a Jones rant on it. L & R

Could you share more fascinating tales of incidents at Disney parks? What was the craziest/dumbest thing that you've ever done at one of the parks?

Hey Brandon, I seem to recall you saying essentially that Easy Allies would not be investing in the Valve Index at this time, so I was curious what kind of coverage for Half-Life: Alyx you might have planned? You seem to be the biggest proponent for VR among the group and I would enjoy more discussion and coverage from the allies on VR. I’m sure a large portion of your audience doesn’t care about VR but maybe a “road to Half-Life VR” series where each of the allies plays one of the “classic” VR titles leading up to release could be great entertainment and also get everyone’s feet wet - both the allies and your audience - for the eventual Half-Life review and discussion.

Hello Brandon. Are you interested in buying Easy Update IP from Ian? I recently realized that Easy Update is much more informative title for a show where you give behind-the-scenes updates on what's happening at Easy Allies.

Good Morning Jones, I had a great time watching you guys play Puzzle Fighter during last week's group stream. It's always a blast to watch you guys play competitive games; the energy and enthusiasm that they bring out in you guys is what drew me to Easy Allies in the first place. Are there any plans to do any more intramural tournament streams in the near future? Thanks! Love & Respect, Dan Westchester, NY

Those Music Man references were smooth as hell. Thank you Jones and Asbo. (@ 42:26 if you missed it)

Hello Jones! What is your opinion of the Easy Allies article on Wikipedia? Think anything could be added? Taken out? Have a message for the people that created it?

Good morning Brandon! Since it has come up in the past two Cups, I had a thought about what to rename the Cross Examination section of the Hall of Greats. What you guys are doing in the Hall of Greats is a truncated version of the classic thesis defense that one typically goes through in grad school. In the first part of a thesis defense, the student presents their thesis, typically uninterrupted, to a panel of professors. After the thesis presentation, the panel then asks questions to attempt to both clarify and challenge the thesis in order to determine if it meets the standards to be accepted by the university or sometimes published. The only part of this process that you all differ on is the voting, as a thesis is only competing with itself rather than other theses for consideration. If you wanted to rename the two segments for Hall of Greats, they could be called the "Thesis" and the "Defense." L&R, Travis "Guy-cow-ski"

Howdy Jones! First of all i just wanted to say congratulations! I love the content that you guys are producing and i can confidently say that everything you are currently putting out is truly a stellar lineup! I feel like Phase 4 has completely blossomed, you guys make me proud to be your patreon, so keep up the good work! Now, onto Business. I've recently been binge watching a lot of spoiler modes and i noticed that you guys don't take questions from the audience like the other shows do, is there a reason for this? I'm asking because usually every comment section of every spoiler mode is filled with all sorts of different opinions and discussion threads that would be interesting to see the allies debate, specially because they can get pretty fiery. It feels kind of wasted because we also don't get much interaction with you guys in the youtube comment section and some of us would really like to hear your counterpoints to our arguments. I wouldn't want it to take too much time from the spoiler mode, but maybe like L&R in the EZA podcast, towards the end of the spoiler mode. Plus it's another way to engage even more with the community! L&R, André Roda a.k.a. "Ben Moore knows me"

Heya Jones, OK, that's sounds really great but let me just ask you this, if Phase 4 of Easy Allies was one of the six merry murderesses of the Cook County Jail, which one would it be?

Hey Jones, hopefully you are having a lovely day. First time watching a cup of Jones, that was an interesting watch (or listen since I'm playing Days Gone haha, fun game btw). Anyway, since you did talk about your anticipated games of 2020, I would be a disgrace to Yakuza fandom if I didn't bring this up: No love for Yakuza Like a Dragon? Actually I wonder where you fall in general in regards to Yakuza series. I don't think you've played one besides those two hours with Ben on Y0. Correct? I think Yakuza is the type of game that you would really be into since it has some of the most engrossing stories I've seen in any game series. Now with Yakuza Like a Dragon being a soft reboot on basically all fronts (new cast, new story, new location, new gameplay) I think it's a really good opportunity to give it a try and play for a couple of hours. I think you'll love it story wise. Anyway, just thought I'd remind you of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and see how interested you are in giving that game a try. Cheers and L&R P.S: Milo is soooooo cute, OMG!

Hi, Jones. I have an idea and also a request, this is a business question, but please don't read this whole thing live, it's more explaining what my idea is. I will post a short question at the end. Also, you do not need to read it live, as it's intended to be for both you and Amanda. The thing I most want from EZA for over 3 years now is a Guest Show. Since that won't happen anytime soon, maybe not even in the next 2-5 years, I had a different idea. I was thinking of you interviewing Amanda. The twist or usp (unique selling point) would be that the Patrons would get to post 1 question each, which you would then ask Amanda. If Amanda agrees, you would then announce in the next CoJ and its post, so Patrons would be aware. This would be short like 30-60 minutes, explaining to Patrons that they ask more focused questions for quicker answers. This way it wouldn't take up much of your and Amanda's time. While you answered a similar question in the last CoJ, I asked Amanda in the chat of the last CoJ if it was at all possible for you two to do something together and she replied that if the timing was right, she could find a time to do something together with you. Again, 30-60 minutes tops. Also, it doesn't necessarily needs to be live, this needs to be very clear. Since it's an interview, you two could just record it. Like a lot of interviews are. The questions would be either professional or slightly personal. Professional questions would be like: What are your favorite and least favorite voice overs? What are your dream live acting and voice over jobs? How many years have you been doing live action and voice over? What plays have you played on? Where can people find most of your work, both in Ripley Improv and outside of it? For personal questions: How is it like to be a mother? What are your favorite foods to eat and that you love to cook? What are your favorite and least favorite colors? Your top 3, 5 or 10 favorite movies/games/books/TV shows/cartoons? What's it like to be married to someone who is very public, both professionally and personally? How did your husband convince you to allow EZA to be in the garage/shed - Huber calls it a shed? During the EZA's humble stay at your house, where there any points in which you looked at your husband and while understanding and very accepting of the situation, you also wanted to strangle - jokingly and lovingly, but still - some of the Allies, including your husband? What was that like? Questions like that. Aside from the last example of a personal question, which I started laughing just by typing it, they would be very focused questions. It might even take less than 30 minutes if there's not too many questions. The important part here would that it would be an interview, not so much a chat. Unless you and Amanda would prefer it was a chat, which would be even better imho, but would also potentially take too much time. Please keep in mind that I thought of this to be like a Christmas/Holidays gift to the Patrons, the EZA community and, hopefully, to you and Amanda as well. This isn't strictly for Patrons. In fact, it would be better if it was available to everyone, it's the Holidays, after all. This would be something nice and warm to be like its own thing, a one-off Cup of Troop, or an extended editorial of CoJ. Something to leave the EZA community with all the warm and kind feelings during the Holidays. Hence why it doesn't need to be live, in fact, it might even be better if it was recorded and then released on December 24-25, just like a Christmas gift. I know this got long, but I wanted to explain in detail in the hopes that maybe I am able to convince you and Amanda to do this. Or maybe even this inspires you two to do something different, I'm sure anything you two do will be great. Business question: Can you please ask Amanda if you could interview her with questions from the Patrons, as a one-off Holiday special Cup of Troop guest show? L & R

I know this might be a little bit of a shot in the dark; but do you know if Huber has plans for taking questions on the final Life is Strange 2 Spoiler Mode? Considering how the game changes based on your own experiences; it might be interesting to see what other people got for their endings, what route they took to get there, or what they thought of the heavy themes that were in this season. I do understand though that there is quite a lot to talk about already, and there might just not be enough time for it.

Hi, Jones. Sorry to double-post, but this is worth an exception, please take a moment to read the comments in the "Box Peek Ep. 10, Final Thoughts, and All the Scripts!" thread. If possible, please share those with Amanda and in slack with all the Allies, specially Kyle. I hope everyone can feel how much love the EZA community have for you all. We all love you and will always be there for you all. L & R

Hi Jones! For game of the decade, I'd definitely recommend something like MinnMax's. They had top ten lists from each year, shared them and talked about them briefly. Easier with 4 people, but I think something more informal and perhaps just a game from each ally.

Anonymous

Quick thing, but any hope of the allies streaming the State of Play this week? I know it's at 6AM for you guys, but the all but confirmed debut of the Resident Evil 3 remake may be worth it. Or at least a blind viewing later in the day.

Anonymous

Hello, Jones. Will there be any talk of decade awards during GOTYs this year or will you guys purely focus on this year?
