I was so damn excited for this one that I completely monopolized the conversation, but I couldn't have asked for two better co-pilots to dissect this game's story. Huber's enthusiasm for the smallest details, and Brad's pessimism when it comes to effectively delivering a solid Star Wars story, made this one of the most satisfying Spoiler Modes I've ever been a part of. The combat is excellent in this game, but I really believe the story and characters are the strongest elements, so if you're even slightly considering playing it, I recommend finishing the campaign before you jump into this. If you've already played Fallen Order, I'm very curious what your thoughts are as well. There is so much Star Wars to absorb nowadays, that after the dust settles following Episode IX and The Mandalorian, it'll be interesting to see where Fallen Order stacks up.

Jones, we know you love talking non stop

Interesting to hear you say you thought the characters and story were the highlight, I found them pretty bland for the most part, outside of the second sister. Very curious to give this a listen.

The "Avenge us!" was definitely NOT for Vader. Trilla face showed agony because Vader was using the force to grip her in place hence why she was squirming for a bit there. Then she heard Vader turn on his light saber and knew he was about to kill her. So she quickly pleaded to Cere and Kal to avenge her and the others that were tortured in the past. Great story and emotion.

Excited to give this a listen! One little aspect that I wanted to mention was the implementation of controller vibration as it was in my opinion, some of the best rumble feedback I've ever felt while playing a game. Even the moments of "boring" traversal were elevated by the feeling that every little turn or jump I took was aided by this tactile feedback felt within the Xbox One's rumble triggers. Of course, I would've enjoyed the game regardless but I was just really impressed by how enjoyable and visceral the game's combat and exploration felt, due in no small part to this sensation that everything I did had a weight and purpose to it.

There's a cool tie-in to SWTOR in the game, you can actually find and use the Darth Magus Saber when you find all the pieces on Dathomir, when I realized what it was I was obsessed with piecing it together to use the rest of the game. BD-1 is the best, I have missed him since completing the game, I think I'm going to try and platinum this just to see my Star Wars friends again.

Loved this game soooooo much. Had an awesome story with so many unforgettable characters. It didn’t feel like some far fetched Star Wars sub story created to shake up fans. (Yeah I’m lookin at you StarKiller) Cal still knew and acted like a Padawan, then tossing in how he’s felt like he failed his master, he was an amazing protagonist, and made fighting his fear even more awesome near the end of the game. Plus all the lore of the planets, villages everywhere, added so much more to the game world it self, read about it then end up seeing like “Oh wow, I remember Endo talking about this area.” I had a kid like smile on my face practically all 47hrs of play!

Finished Death Stranding and Star Wars is ready on my Xbox One. Can’t wait to here what you guys have to say. But this has to wait for a couple of days.

To see that Ilum would be possibly the future Starkiller Base was heartbreaking. The whole ending was an oh shit moment and the scene when Cal becomes a Knight was my absolute highlight.

Michael Huber was 100% spot on with his point at the end. EA/Respawn definitely held back with the marketing. I would almost say it was poor marketing but the game was really so good and had the Star Wars name they stuck to their guns and it worked in the end. Bravo!

Just finished it finally so I loved being able to finally listen to this conversation! Post-Disney, I think this is the best Star Wars thing behind Rebels, for all the reasons the guys said. Nothing feels better than deflecting a blaster shot back at a stormtrooper! I wish there was some more post game content besides finding all the secrets and the random bounty hunter encounters!

I'm now getting to this Patreon post after beating it just now and I loved it too!! It perfectly fit my recent star wars obsession in all the right ways: combat, adoring characters, and awesome level design that made venturing feel like a huge joy! I really want to see how they expand this game or potentially the lore with Cal involved - I'd love for Disney to explore his character in movies or other games (imagine Cal (Cameron Monaghan) meeting Obi-wan in his series or anything really. I would be DELIGHTED)
