I originally got the first Cat Quest for Amanda, on Switch, as a joke. It won me over from the name alone, as she's always been a fan of felines. After few hours with it, she was surprised at the consistency of its groan-worthy humor and variety in its weapons and gear. I picked it up on Switch as well, and we've been eagerly awaiting the sequel to try out co-op and the new dog-area, Lupus. Aside from the 2-player option and fresh environments, not much has changed, but this is still a silly quest that might amuse some of you if this review sounds appealing.

Cat Quest 2 - Easy Allies Review

Cat Quest 2 might not look like it has a lot of depth because its characters are in 2D and most of its action takes place on one big overworld. Yet its charm slowly creeps in on you one terrible joke at a time, and its gameplay is fast and varied enough to see one or two players through this brief journey to its end.

Hi, Jones. Lovely review. Being a fan of felines and canines, Cat Quest always intrigued me and your review has definitely picked my interest. The art style and gameplay look lovely. Also, I disagree with the notion that "2D seems to not have much depth". I've just spent over 30 minutes on Dead Cell's Update page and that game has more depth than many big budget AAA games. It also has all kinds of physics and systems interacting with each other that make it look like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 2D. But I digress. Getting back to Cat Quest, I do have some questions. The music is jolly, though I wonder if it gets repetitive during those 8-10 hours? From your review footage, I never saw any map, since it's an expansive world, how do you avoid getting lost or going to a place you already cleared? Also, since you can only do one quest at a time, does it mark on your map - if you have one - when you've found a quest, but haven't done it yet or do you have to remember where each quest giver is? Same for chests you can't open. Can you continue playing after you complete the main story if you still have quests and things left to do? You mention those features of the first game that were removed like New Game+ and the ability to fly, plus the updates that made it better. This with the fact that you mention not much has changed, makes the first game sound like it's better than this sequel, can you speak a little about that? Should one buy this or maybe the first one, which should cheaper and has more features? On Steam, Cat Quest 1 is $12.99, while Cat Quest 2 is $14.99. So there's not much of a difference in price. It's also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, Switch, iOS, Mac, tvOS. L & R

Is it me or did the video sound like it was 1.5 times speed? Or Jones was just speaking a bit faster than usual? Probably just me being tired. Either way, it's nice review. Edit: I should say I struggled to keep up with the pacing. Would prefer it a bit slowed down.

Had just heard a little good buzz on this game, and wondered if it was worth a buy. Never expected a review from EZA, but super pleased to see this.

Just spitballing, but I think Jones seems a little more comfortable with his own copy. It's a bit more economical than some of the other Allies'.

I actually just had a good long talk with the developer of Cat Quest 2 today. Super cool dude. Looking forward to picking this one up!
