"Is there another series Nintendo could turn around like they've done for Fire Emblem?" Advance Wars would be bloody perfect for the Switch in every way, and it is plum stupid Nintendo hasn't capitalized on it yet when multiple competitors have released basically clones of that style of gameplay. What worries me even more is that Intelligent Systems is on record basically saying the reason they haven't released new entries for the series is that they're having trouble figuring out how to cram relationship junk into it since that led to way more sales for Fire Emblem. I want to believe, now that Fire Emblem is out of the way, that's the next thing they'll work on, but Intelligent Systems is also responsible for the Paper Mario games, which take notoriously long to develop, and that is easily going to take priority over Advance Wars. Hell, with how hot Fire Emblem has been and how well Three Houses just sold, they might even make another of those instead of ever dipping back into Advance Wars. The whole thing bums me out greatly when the Switch is the perfect hardware for the series. It isn't even like they ran into a slump with the series. The turn around is just that they stopped making them completely to work on other "obligations" and experiment with new stuff that wasn't well received like Codename STEAM and never made time to go back to this series that lots of people love, to the point where we see imitations of it today.

Hi Damiani, i thought we were getting some new title graphics? :) Are they still in the works?

Three Houses was mostly developed by the Romance of Three Kingdom team from Koei Tecmo, outside of a couple artists and composer. IntSys has almost nothing to do with the game.

As for "turning around" Fire Emblem it's not like they even particularly changed the core mechanics of the game for Awakening, it's got most of the DNA of the other games. It was already great and all it took was refinement, some mechanical streamlining, good character art/writing and getting put out on a very popular system with enough exposure leading up to it to catch its audience It's like, OK you tried on GBA and the games were great but we're still basically in the dark ages as far as niche games coverage at that point, and then Gamecube/Wii didn't have enough of an install base or fanfare for PoR and then Radiant Dawn. The games with Marth and Roy in them from Smash Melee didn't even get localized for the US. I don't think the DS game(s?) did either, and then finally for 3DS we hit the sweet spot, years of exposure in Smash, a system that a lot of people owned, and the internet hype machine was in play by then. That, plus the same game with couple of accessibility/casual options and more Supports, badabing badaboom you got yourself a hit

I think the hardware Nintendo used has a big impact on the availability of Indies. They use of the shelf hardware. Compatible hardware "dev kits" can be purchased for less than the price of the switch itself.

Yeah, I think the "accessibility/casual" options played a larger part in it than it gets credit for, but "characters" are always a hook too. Not that the older games didn't have them, just you didn't get all the fluff conversations with them to flesh them out more. Honestly, Three Houses taking away the weapon triangle is a way larger shakeup. "Wii didn't have enough of an install base" I know what you were going for, but this is hilarious to snip out on its own.

So glad to hear them answer my question! Thanks Damiani for reading it and Ian and Brad for answering... I have a Switch on my Christmas list so maybe Santa will bring one =) L&R <3<3

Personally I'll be getting Witcher 3 on switch to support CDPR for going with 32gb carts for the game unlike capcom who keeps releasing physical games with half the games being a digital code.

Damiani the show has only gotten better and better. If I may make one suggestion, don't apologize as much. It's your show, we trust your judgement. If you only have time for two questions that's fine. No need to apologize for week to week change in format, etc. Your choice but just trying to give some constructive feedback. L&R
