2019 has been an exciting and challenging year of transition for Easy Allies. Thanks to your support we’ve finally been able to move into a proper studio, but it’s taken time and resources to put it all together. On top of that, we’ve had to adjust for personal events impacting several Allies, and it’s been important to give them the space that they need to take care of themselves and their families.

Through this period, our main focus has been to keep as much programming on track as possible, but now we’ve taken the opportunity to really step back and look towards the future of Easy Allies. We’ve also been listening closely to your feedback. Thanks to everyone who participated in our recent survey as it’s helped to fine-tune the direction we want to go.

Streaming Together
One of the biggest changes is that we’re going to be more intentional about streaming together from the studio. In the coming weeks, you’ll see us transition to doing fewer solo streams from home and more frequent streams in the studio with multiple people. Some of us will still do things on our own, whether it’s late at night or when a big demo hits, but we’ll be regularly scheduling times throughout the week to get together and share what we’re playing with one another.

Full group streams won’t be going anywhere as they’ll remain on Tuesday nights. Damiani and Huber will be doing regular streams Wednesday afternoons, and Ian wants to do some synth streams. We won’t be laying out a schedule for full playthroughs, but we will do them for games we’re excited to play together such as Man of Medan. Plus, we’re bringing back Gundam streams starting in September.

$15 Stream Team
Tied in with this effort, we’re also returning to the idea of giving patrons the chance to choose games for us to play together. These streams won’t involve everyone, but you’ll be able to submit ideas and vote for games to be played every other week. We’ll be using forms to streamline the process as well so you won’t have to struggle through the brambles of Patreon comments.

New Shows Aren’t Tied to Goals
We’re taking the time to develop new shows and to bring back some of our past series, which we’ll outline below. In the past, most of our shows have been tied to explicit dollar amounts on Patreon, but this will no longer be the case. In fact, we’re removing all goals from our Patreon entirely. Holding shows back doesn’t make sense for us at this time, and it will be beneficial to have the freedom to create and reconfigure shows as needed. While there are things we’re working toward as a business, much of what we want to do (like hiring additional staff) doesn’t feel appropriate as monthly public goals either. We value everyone’s continued support at a variety of levels, and we feel like we can foster more growth by freely presenting new content and taking the time to demonstrate that this space and this team are worth further investment.

In addition to shows, we also have a number of ideas to experiment with different forms of editorial content to bring you quicker impressions of games that aren’t always tied to a podcast or a preview meeting. Plus we’re interested in providing more opportunities for bits to show our lighter side as well.

Updates to Existing Shows
We’ve taken the time to evaluate every show in our roster. You may notice tweaks to most of our shows, but some are getting more significant changes. Plus, we’re saying goodbye to a few.

The Easy Allies Podcast
It’s been a running joke that companies like Nintendo wait until the podcast is recorded to drop big news. To some extent, this would be the case no matter when we record, but we think we can avoid it more often and make the podcast more timely by shifting the schedule. Starting August 29th, the podcast will record on Thursdays, go up for patrons on Fridays, and go public on Sundays. We know that this will take some adjustment, but we think it will make for a more responsive show overall.

Huber Syndrome
Huber Syndrome will be taking some time off for Huber to invest in his next show. When Syndrome returns, Huber will be doing episodes every other week on a seasonal basis.

Top 10s
We introduced Top 10s last year in hopes that they’d be an exciting way to draw in new people. After 15 videos, Top 10s haven’t really garnered much traction, and viewer response is often lukewarm. We feel that time can be better spent on things that will be more interesting both for us and our audience, but we do have one final episode to end the series.

Game Sleuth
We know that Game Sleuth and Pop Fiction before it have been some of our most anticipated and inspiring shows, but they involve loads of in-depth testing and research to properly create. We’ve been making mystery videos for more than eight years, and while we’ve tried to keep the fire alive, it’s time to move on from this part of our story and put that effort into initiatives that motivate us in new ways.

Trailer Jones
In order to make Trailer Jones more timely and engaging, Brandon will be moving away from lengthy monthly videos that examine multiple trailers and instead focus on individual trailers soon after they release.

Tabletop Escapades
Tabletop Escapades won't be returning in the immediate future, but the group is ready to try something different. In place of Tabletop Escapades, we'll be doing a new show throughout the year. As fantastic as pen and paper roleplaying has been, this is a perfect opportunity to get energized about new things, experiment, and see where that takes us.

Returning Shows and New Shows
It’s hard to say farewell, but now it’s time to say hello! Here are the next projects we’re putting into production.

The Occasional Board Game Show
There’s a variety of different board games that we love, and there are many more we’d like to give a shot, some original, some based on other media. At least once every three months, we’ll get together, try to learn the rules, and shoot a play session together.

Don’s Design Lab
Don’s collaborative Mario Maker series is coming back. While we can’t promise its frequency, we know that Don’s endeavors always pay off. He’s already hard at work on the next episode.

Box Peek
The next five episodes of Kyle Bosman’s original animated series are deep in production. Jordy’s story will continue before the end of the year, and you can catch monthly production updates from Kyle by visiting https://www.patreon.com/EasyAllies/posts?tag=Box%20Peek

Don’t Skip
Ben is putting a renewed focus on Don’t Skip, highlighting games that may otherwise slide under the radar and he feels personally passionate about. These games may be brand new or 20 years old. Along with making the show more frequent, Ben wants to develop a voice that feels more distinct from our reviews while maintaining strong writing.

Achieve It Yourself!
Our exclusive show in which we attempt made-up achievements is a certifiable hit. The current episodes will remain on Patreon, but we’re planning a new 8-episode season that will have episodes land on Patreon early access first, then go public a week later.

Together We RPG
For our next Patreon exclusive series coming this fall, the Easy Allies will team up in RPG Maker to create original art, music, and worlds for a surely one-of-a-kind adventure with ingredients chosen by patrons.

Huber’s Prison of Love
Is there a game one of us hates, but Huber absolutely adores? Huber will lock us in a room and force us to play that game with him. Will he woo us to his side? Only time will tell. Episodes will come out every other week, alternating seasons with Huber Syndrome.

These aren’t the only concepts we’re developing. They’re just the ones we’re ready to talk about today. There are more plans that we want to reveal in the coming months, and some you won’t see until 2020. This is just the start of the next phase of Easy Allies. We know there’s a lot to process, but we’re excited for the next step of this journey and welcome any feedback you’d like to leave below.

Just want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you do - I am excited for the next chapter. Onwards! L&R

Anonymous

Happy to be on this journey with you guys!!!

Anonymous

Promising announcements and hopefully some burdens lifted for y'all - looking forward to it!

David Rodríguez Madriñán

This all sounds lovely, but Huber's prison of love getting cut to only be 10 or 15 minutes sounds a bit short for Huber and Friends streams fans.... I propose you release an uncut version for patreons maybe? Or on the second youtube channel?

Angus DeBee

All of this makes me super excited about the future of Easy Allies.

Anonymous

RIP Tabletop. I'm gonna miss my Wednesday afternoon's listening to it. Excited for the return of Gundam streaming though. :D

Anonymous

Love the changes!

Anonymous

Whew, it’s all good news.

Anonymous

I think the time is right for these changes. Excited for what the future holds!!!

Anonymous

Happy to have Gundam streams back, was a highlighted moment for me! Achieve It Yourself coming back was nice too.

Anonymous

The $15 tier sounds like the perfect kinda tier that’ll get me to up my pledge. Overall, the changes do seem pretty good. Will probably miss Top 10s but I get why you want to retire it.

Anonymous

Honestly, Phase four is not for me. I was hoping for something exciting to get me to increase my pledge but I hope that others do instead. Don’s Design lab, Huber’s prison of love and Achieve it yourself are good things though

Anonymous

Am I the only person hearing Brandon's voice while reading this?

Anonymous

Will Spolier Mode stay I assume?

Anonymous

All these new shows and not *one* focused on business law?! For shame! (Kidding, of course. Looking forward to seeing the new shows and configuration for EZA.)

Anonymous

Excited to see the new shows. I think originally shows help show your best strengths and creativity! Definitely enjoy your shows more than streams. Just don’t have hours to consume streams. Would be down for even less focus on streams.

Anonymous

Awesome stuff, keep it up boys

Anonymous

Exciting times for EZA!

Anonymous

I really liked tabletop. Other then the podcast it was the thing I enjoyed the most :/

Anonymous

it crushes me the table top isn't coming back anytime soon but I understand and hope the extra time helps you guys make some really great content bumping on my pledge right now!

Anonymous

I really think these are all good changes.

Anonymous

Awesome I think you guys knocked it out if the park for phase 4

Anonymous

This is fantastic.

Anonymous

Seems very exciting! Would there be anyway to get the audio form from the new shows as well? I understand the new shows will be made for viewing but I mostly consume most of my EZA content in podcast form while on the job.

Anonymous

Y'all got me into D&D, and I'm devastated to see it go. An on-going story and evolving characters is something truly unique to Easy Allies shows, and other D&D shows I've checked out during your hiatus falls flat in comparison. As a greedy person, I'm down, but just as someone that loves you all, I'm excited to see you guys do what you have more passion towards. Sorry to sound dramatic! Love and Respect <3

Anonymous

I'm a relatively new patron but I think both the new vision for the patreon and changes to individual shows are well thought out and exciting!

Anonymous

I was scared of the coming news but all of this sounds great! I'll miss Tabletop but I'm super looking forward to Together We RPG and Huber's Prison of Love! Also more team streams are awesome!

Anonymous

I'll be missing tabletop, but I'm super excited for everything to come. You're all still best in the biz.

Anonymous

huber's prison of love? lock me up and throw away the key

Anonymous

I love the focus on streaming together, and I'm looking forward to Phase 4!

Anonymous

Huber's prison of love sounds fantastic and definitely like the idea of more streams featuring multiple allies.

Anonymous

Together we RPG is going to be epic.

Anonymous

HYPE for the Huber Prison of Love and a new season of Achieve it Yourself!!!

Alex Castellanos

Streaming together is cool. I'll be glad to see that more often. And I'm loving that the Gundam stream is back. Lastly however, "Together we RPG"!? Yes please!! Very neat idea 👍.

Anonymous

As much as I enjoyed Tabletop (it was what brought me in back in the GT days), I’m excited to see what other creative things you all can do with something new! Excited for the future - L&R!

Anonymous

Huber’s Prison of Love is a glorious idea, but I hope it's not just forcing Allies to play games they hate. Also as an opportunity to play games that they otherwise never get to play co-op with Huber or something like that. I'm personally totally fine with Huber Syndrome, Top 10, and Game Sleuth going away or taking a break, but I really hope we get some Tabletop RPG on Occasional Board Game Show - the Allies using improvisation in a fantastical world with actual stakes of your character dying, etc. is the freaking best.

Anonymous

I really love the new directions you guys are taking. Your innovation and active thought towards building the brand is great! Just wanted to say - Tabletop escapades is what brought me to Easy Allies a few years back and Ben’s DMing inspired me to actually strike up a couple groups of my own. I know the regularity of a campaign can be sometimes a huge burden of responsibility, but personally I’ll greatly miss the loss of TE. Hope it could come back at some point in the future. -L&R

Anonymous

I am SO incredibly excited for The Occasional Boardgame Show! I understand where you're coming from with the frequency of episodes due to the time it takes to edit it. I've watched tabletop shows for years and I've discovered or learned some of my favorite boardgames through them. I'm eager to see the Easy Allies' take and style on such a show.

Callum MacDonald

All these changes sound great to me

Jay Rutley

Woo! More Gundam streams. Those were the most chill streams to have in the background while doing work.

Anonymous

Also, all the logos/ titlecards look great! Overall, I'm excited for the next Chapter of EZA. It's such a pleasure to see you guys grow, adapt, and continue to follow your passions. People may be disappointed to see the sun set on certain series, but in the end, it's your personalities and enthusiasm that I stay tuned in for, and I would hate for that dynamic to grow stale. Wishing you all the inspiration, creativity, and positivity that these changes can bring. Love & Respect, OrigamiZombie

Anonymous

More streams is something I will always be in support of. Sad to see some shows go but I'm really excited for the new shows. Above all else I want the Allies enjoying what they are producing, because that joy comes through in their work.

Farex

The changes to rewards, tiers and existing shows make sense, and I am looking forward to the new shows. Stream Team might even tempt me to up my tier :)

Anonymous

Tabletop.. :'''( you will be missed. But its all good, y'all do you!

Anonymous

Omgggggg Huber’s Prison of Love. Already my new favorite show.

Anonymous

Top 10s leaving is really disappointing. The quality was great at first, but then all of a sudden they became "someone sits at a desk and discusses the top 10". Kyle's Spiderman top 10 worked fine in this format, others not so much. Usually top 10s work better as fully produced and edited videos. They also need to be controversial. People should get pissed, debate. It's all good fun. If the views are that bad, I understand, but I think it's worth reassessing WHY top 10s were popular in the first place.

Anonymous

Please, please, please have Huber busting into other shows and sending allies to Prison.

Anonymous

Since all commenting is an inherently flawed form of surveying as it only attracts vocal minorities at both ends of the spectrum, allow me to take the time to comment: "Hey, this looks pretty good. Some of it I'm interested in, some not so much, but I still really like the culture and content of this company so y'all just keep on keeping on and I'll keep paying." L&R and thanks for the good work as always

Anonymous

Love all the changes!

Kiraz

Historically, long-term projects without real due-dates have been your weakest point. So seeing a new direction that puts most of the eggs in that basket is worrisome. That said, I upped my pledge in good faith, and ready to see how September goes, and reassess from there. :)

Anonymous

Happy to see something new from you all, thank you for all the effort in the show that leaving us.

Anonymous

I think you're putting the right foot forward here. It's sad to see some of these loses, but I'm really excited at the new additions!

Max Jahner

It's exciting to see the lineup get a refresh. Looking forward to this!

Bokthand

This includes pretty much every suggestion I made, plus a couple other good bits. I think pretty much all of these are great changes to make, excited to see what is in the next phase!

Anonymous

For more Gundam Streams, is it Gundam in general? Or one specific category?

Anonymous

Can we get an update for the website of "active series" and "retired series" with playlists linked? I think it would be a nice way to both keep this organized and keep the old shows easily accessible for the people who enjoyed them.

Anonymous

Sad to see shows go, but I’m excited for what’s to come- especially more reasons to hang out with you guys on twitch! L&R

Anonymous

If you aren't enjoying doing shows or they're not doing well then there's no point in doing them. Keen to check out the new shows and I'm excited for the future of EZA. L&R!

Anonymous

I'm also SUPER excited for more Don't Skips, especially with that sultry Ben Moore VO.

Anonymous

Happy to take place in the survey, especially if it lends a hand in shaping what’s to come. Excited to see the next phase! Keep up the great work 💪🏼

Anonymous

The new shows sound awesome

Anonymous

Corrections going to the end of the Easy Allies Podcast is actually a really good idea. As a stinger you could end the episode cleanly and then cut back into corrections for the people that care, and if there are more controversial corrections you can feel more free to riff on them without feeling like you're wasting pod time :) I mean I like it all so its all good for me.

Anonymous

Great announcements, Love & Respect

Anonymous

Excited for nearly all the changes (especially hyped for Don's Design Lab, Don't Skip, and Huber's new show!). Cancelling Game Sleuth is a big downer but I will reserve final judgement until after Damiani's post. All in all you guys seem more motivated and positive than ever which is impressive considering it's been over three years in operation. Much love and much respect to you all.

Anonymous

I think that could be a good patron exclusive, raw HPoL episodes. Huber's Prison of Love: Raw lol

Anonymous

Great changes. Thanks EZA

Anonymous

This all sounds great! Excited for the future.

Anonymous

I'm really bummed about tabletop. Hopefully, the boardgame show will heavily feature roleplaying, otherwise I don't really see the appeal (yet).

Anonymous

Didn't notice it on the post, but I hope Fiasconauts sticks around! Always look forward to the monthly shenanigans.

Anonymous

Adventure Zone and the Glass Cannon/Androids & Aliens Podcast are great and have a similar lighthearted tone to TTE.

Anonymous

Can't wait to see Phase 4 in action! I love how excited everyone is about the changes. Really looking forward to the RPG Maker show.

Anonymous

Ya know.... every one of these changes makes nothin' but sense. Fantastic job~

Anonymous

Love it! Do what you're passionate about.

Anonymous

Awesome! So excited for EZA :)

Anonymous

Confirmed to stay, and they said they were shooting a new one soon on the stream.

Anonymous

They're mostly season based now. And aren't as frontloaded with research as Game Sleuth and Retrospective were and Box Peek is it's own thing lol. I'm curious in how they kept the rhythm too but I think they are actually playing to their strenght, these new shows are more similar to their previous patreon exclusive shows production wise and that wasn't a problem. Let's see, hopefully it turns out well :)

Anonymous

I can appreciate that the decisions are probably the right ones for growing Easy Allies. I'm sure all of them were informed by an extensive review of video statistics versus amount of work to produce. All that being said, losing Tabletop Escapades is very hard. I was there right at the beginning of Tabletop Adventures at GT, and have not missed a single episode since. As I've suggested above, I appreciate that that show must have required an enormous time commitment for relatively little views, but I feel it provided a unique and ongoing dimension of the team that will be sorely missed. At the very least, you should do one last episode where you brutally murder every still-living character. Give it some closure ;)

Anonymous

Sad to see some shows go but these are smart changes. Keep up the great work, guys!

Anonymous

I actually liked the top 10s :) They were certainly controversial.

Anonymous

@Ben - please keep the don't skips coming, but don't kill yourself over them. Also, excited to see how together we RPG and Huber's Prison of love turn out :)

Anonymous

In the past they allowed any miniature kit building an ally wanted to bring for them, including Lego Bricks™

Anonymous

Any shows that they didn't mention are sticking around, confirmed!

Anonymous

There's been some episodes of Easy Update in the past where Ian plays various board games with the group, which I've always enjoyed, so maybe you could check one of those out to get a feel for the kind of vibes to maybe expect from the new show, although sounds like the newer show will be much higher production values.

DjDeathCool

Consider me disappointed we didn't get a mandatory minimum 4 hour run time for Frame Trap... but that new show with Huber sounds guuuuuuud.

Anonymous

Huber's prison of love is a show I never knew I wanted and now can't believe it took you so long to create :) sounds amazing!

Anonymous

I'm sad to see Game Sleuth go, and the EZA Podcast schedule change isn't ideal, but I completely understand why these changes were made. Top 10's is also understandable. I love em, but we also just don't live in the early 2000's video game culture anymore, if that makes sense. I like the direction Trailer Jones is going. I think Don't Skip could be a bit more rapid fire imo, and not necessarily focused on NEW games either, I'm always down for hidden gems recommendations. Prison of Love sounds hilarious! I'm also SUPER pumped about Box Peek and Achieve it Yourself Season 2. The latter is actually the reason I returned to being a patron :) Can't wait for what's to come, keep up the great work EZA!

Anonymous

Someone tell me Fiasco is alive

Anonymous

Good changes

Anonymous

I agree with all the changes you've made! Sad to see Tabletop Escapades go, but as it went on my enthusiasm had kind of cooled and I was ready to see a new campaign, if the group is not excited to start a new one, I wouldn't want to see them force themselves because it wouldn't be fun for them OR the audience. Top Tens were funny, but also super divisive and kinda felt like just a way to start arguments in the comments. Gundam streams coming back is great, and I think it's a good example compared to Game Slueth where one just takes 5 hours and very little effort, and the other takes a TON of time and effort for a very short video that comes out once or twice a year. I know Damiani is sad to let it go, but I think he can make a lot of other cool stuff in a lot less time. So yeah, my big request on the survey was more 2 or 3 person streams, and we're getting more of that, so that's great!

Andrew Chalmers

Don's design lab, Achieve it Yourself, and Huber's prison of love are my personal favourites. I look forward to watching the twitch archived video of the announcements.

Anonymous

This is super cool & exciting, very happy to support EZA!

Anonymous

You have my support since day 1 and I am sincerely really to see where you are now. So ready for phase 4

Anonymous

Huber's Prison of Love - Pure. Hype. Laughed so hard when I read this :) The most Huber thing since the invention of coziness!

Anonymous

It's hard to say goodbye. But you have my support nevertheless! And I'm really excited for the new shows.

Anonymous

A lot of exciting news! Hubers Prison of love, Don's Design Lab and achieve it yourself are really nice additions. Also glad that Don't Skip is going to be a more regular show, as it usually was really well written and edited and allowed me to learn about a fantastic game called Hollow Knight. Sad to see Tabletop go though, which was my favourite show with frame trap.

Anonymous

Gundam Streams! Woooooooooooooo!! Loooooooooooooo!! Ahem, I mean Phase 4 is sounding like the perfect pivot from the previous message of "Less streams. More Shortform Content." I can get way more behind this new broad messaging, and I feel spoiled with how many of the changes reflect both what I wrote in my own survey and just my general desires for the direction of the company. Obviously, I need to see how they actually pan out and what else you guys are still cooking, but definitely overall excited for Phase 4. That said, you know me by now, and as always I have my concerns, which I'll now go into. Wednesdays used to be TTE days, more on that later, but they also used to frequently be Benesdays! If other allies are pairing up to group stream on Wednesdays in basically the same time slot that used to start, I assume Benesdays have gotten the bump by necessity. Now I imagine that's somewhat intentional since Ben sounds like he's omnirupling down on Don't Skip with lots of his time, and it is probably healthier in the longrun to split the streaming burden more evenly between the allies, instead of having Ben carry it hardcore through the very long streams that become known as Benesdays. Yet I do hope it doesn't mean we have to say goodbye to at least shorter Benesday Wednesday streams in general, especially since some of the games he was streaming have yet to wrap up. Despite the name, I'm also not attached to Wednesdays in general if he just wanted to move them to another day. The Trailer Jones changes are very close to what I asked for, except obviously not shot in person anymore, which I'm actually quite fine with, but another change to this was mentioned that I'm less thrilled about. I understand that at times it might be necessity, but I do hope the show at least continues to try and get three people total on an episode, then only concedes to two or less if three aren't available. I think the show works better with more people both for discussion reasons and score reasons. If people aren't available at the time, that's understandable, go ahead and have episodes with less, but I hope the show isn't restricted down to two or less even if three are available and willing at the time. That would be an unnecessary, unwanted restriction. Now is the later and the time for more thoughts on TTE. Obviously losing this show is a massive bummer, and I'm glad Ian said something during the stream, because even though Ben was dragging it out due to his passion for it, that was really brutal on the audience waiting to hear if it was changing, if it was vaulted for now, or if it was outright canceled, which still feels somewhat unclear honestly. I got the impression it was effectively canceled for now though, and given the burden it became to produce and manage, I don't think it is the wrong call, for now at least, given that Ben wants more time to focus on Don't Skips. However, we have the new show, The Occasional Board Game Show, that helps to make up for TTE's absence that I'm very excited for! All well and good there, except this new show is listed down for an episode every three months worst case scenario. Now I understand that this show takes way more effort to shoot and edit than TTE ever did, however going from a tabletop show we get roughly 48 of a year minus holidays and scheduling conflicts to a somewhat successor we might only get a measly 4 of a year feels like way too large a frequency discrepancy! Could you not shoot some of these episodes in maybe smaller batches like how TTE was handled before to get them out a little more frequently? Ideally, every other week would be fantastic, but that's admittedly unrealistic for a show that's going to be edited way more heavily. Also, quick side tangent, editing a board game down sounds kind of weird and potentially bad in general. I think a better release balance to aim for would be once a month, then people wouldn't have to wait so long between them they practically forget it exists. When we move into two to three month territory between episodes, I feel like the hype for the thing dies off and people start treating it like it is a dead thing like Game Sleuth and Retrospectives were previously. Even if this meant spacing out the more complicated board games and cutting between them with episodes of simpler stuff like Uno or anything with minimal setup and easy to understand rules to maintain a more regular schedule, I think this would be an improvement to keep the show in people's minds as something regularly anticipated. Together We RPG sounds like a time intensive ordeal, and I wish yall the best of luck on that one. Should be an interesting experiment to see how that turns out. Chat was joking you should instead call it "Together We Crunch" if the plan really is to do it all in one day together in the studio. I don't see this working out as planned, but maybe if the series became about it falling apart that could be wildly entertaining in its own right like those group streams in the past where teams rushed to make a level in a game. That's it for now. No need to berate yall for not enough Sophie content, demand Jones & Milo Puppet Theatre, nag for the return of Dumb Game Monday, or focus really on anything you guys aren't doing when there's so much you are, so despite listing my concerns above for your consideration, thank you for all that you currently do, plan to roll out soon, and anything exciting coming up that's still cooking. Phase 4 definitely sounds like it'll have plenty to keep me happy. Gundam Streams!!!

Anonymous

Yes! More multi person streams! that's all I wanted to happen!

Adam Mullany

As much as I enjoy Trailer Jones, the new format should be a trailer reaction show from Jones. Yes, EVERYONE does them.....but they’re extremely popular and will bring in a lot of views. Plus Jones’s enthusiasm and knowledge of trailers will set him apart from many others on YouTube.

Anonymous

Overall I think all the announcements were great. Tabletop going away is disappointing. I was wishing so much for a scripted show announcement. That intro you did was hilarious and all your scripted stuff is so good. You have the perfect desk for a Mandatory Update successor just sayin! I hope that new $15 adds some dollars each month but it doesn't do much for me personally.

Anonymous

TTE 💔. Can we get every episode's audio on a limited ed Blackpot Academy USB stick in the store?

Anonymous

The episodes where he can't get anyone else on might as well be this before going into the normal episode.

Anonymous

No scripted show announced yet, but Blood did write "Plus we’re interested in providing more opportunities for bits to show our lighter side as well." in the post above, which seems like a promising start.

Anonymous

I think the allies put a lot of work into phase 4 but I gotta say with no tabletop coming back, I felt really upset. The reasoning is totally understandable, but this was a story I intimately followed for 3 years with theories and lore. It just stops with no resolution and barely any cohesion. Again I dont think it is anyones fault that a new season isn't happening, it just really really really sucks for me. I truly didn't even think this was a possibility till last night, I don't know why. I am happy for the allies and everyone else who is excited but it was very hard to get behind any of the other announcements after finding out that tabletop is being cancelled. The new gaming show once every 3 months, while it sounds fun, does not replace the hour of jolly DnD every Wednesday that I loved so dear. I know you guys are expecting some of us to fall off during phase 4 so I get that one person doesnt really matter. This is just a major change that I was blindsided by. LnR4L ~Heidern98

strawhatninja

I was really hoping for a new anime show but I’m excited to see how everything turns out

Anonymous

Hugely bummed about no weekly narritive show happening, even if it's not D&D One thing I am more surprised about is that the other podcast schedules aren't changing. Having them compressed over the weekend and having nothing in early access while working is a bit of a bummer for me, but for some probably works great if they only have time over the weekend

Anonymous

YES MORE STREAMING! I've been watching old Easy Allies Plays and they're great! I'll up my pledge. :)

Anonymous

Hope it works, some gives me concern, but I'm here for the Eternals. Role on phase 4!

Anonymous

Ian has already played TLOU with huber

Anonymous

"It just stops with no resolution and barely any cohesion." They did wrap up Season 2 and the entire arc around that though.

Yiorgos

I just re-subbed on Patreon yesterday and I was initially worried for what Phase 4 will be...my worries have gone away now. Hubers Prison of Love sounds awesome and more multi group streams to go along with Damiani and Huber streaming on Wednesdays sounds great. There is no mention on FrameTrap so I assume its staying the course? Fine by me and Dont Skip with Ben is also something I'm looking forward too. Overall, I'm excited to see it all come to fruition, much Love & Respect to all the Allies.

As hype as I am for Don's Design Lab, I really hope to see more Don's Design CHALLENGE in the future. That series put a fantastic twist on Mario Maker.

If Trailer Jones could turn into "Trailer Jones ASMR Time" my life would be complete. Superb audio quality at whisper quiet levels discussing newly dropped trailers would be arousing in the best possible way. Just dont eat any food while you do it, im not into that.

Anonymous

Excited about more group streams, full playthroughs and the return of Achieve it Yourself. Generally in favour of the changes.

Anonymous

The only thing I don't like about this is Trailer Jones becoming "smaller". Trailer Score was always one of my favorite shows and it still is, so it was already sad to only get it once a month, but now getting it only ocasionaly and only for one trailer is a bit sad. Maybe it will return to being a bigger show once Jones has more time again.

Anonymous

So happy with this. I think it will help to make things feel fresh and it really feels like you listened to the survey.

Anonymous

The video presentation was a very interesting... for a group that critiques and grades press conferences it was very much PSX with couches and not so much E3 with an orchestra. Also, like all other press conferences, I think it would have been more enjoyable as a Nintendo direct type video. The power point art and logos were great though. And I hope phase 4 has many more of those great scripted bits.

Anonymous

One of the primary complaints I voiced in the survey was all of EZA's technical glitches and general lack of polish in their unscripted content, including but not limited to audio, lighting, set decoration, and unpreparedness for streams (controllers not working, accounts/saves not set up, videos not properly queued up, etc.) Cont...

Anonymous

Thusly, it concerns me that during the Phase 4 stream, the only mention given to EZA's ongoing jank was a desire for additional staff. I have a very hard time believing that a group of nine professionals with years of experience cannot manage to resolve these recurring issues - issues that were implied to be improved if not fixed with the studio move. Cont...

Super happy with the changes. The shows that are going away I wasn’t so passionate about anyway and the things we get in return sound great! Plus more studio streams and Gundam is baaack baby!

Anonymous

Happy with these changes! Looking forward to these new content.

Joqu

Liking the sound of the changes! I will miss TTE but at least we still get something that fills that void.

gruntelite

I hope we can get some closure for Tabletop Escapades someday 😢😢😢

Anonymous

I am really excited about these changes! The podcast move seems smart, it may disrupt some peoples patterns but I would prefer to get the Allies take on news of the week than go to other sources. I wish instead of building a game in RPG Maker the Allies would do it in Dreams. That said I can see why RPG Makers was chosen and can be more entertaining for a show. Huber's Prison of Love sounds amazing, I hope this interacts with other shows Huber is on and he gets to invite people on the spot. Would be hilarious to see Huber get all excited as other allies lower their head into their hands in defeat knowing what they will soon have to go through.

Anonymous

What about Fiasconauts? :-)

EasyAllies

We didn't include shows if there weren't major changes to announce. Nothing changing with Fiasconauts right now. -Bloodworth

Anonymous

So excited for the Remnant stream and new shows! well done Allies!

Anonymous

The idea now is that instead of one larger show each month you'll get more smaller ones as new trailers come out in a more timely manner. It actually presents the opportunity for more trailers being covered, because they don't have to worry about pushing an episode too long to cover more they'd like to. It also means you'll get episodes on new trailers sooner.

Anonymous

Thanks Damiani for the excellent Pop Fiction and Game Sleuth. They are two of my favourite things to ever spill from the internet. Full of magic, passion and intrigue. As for the new announcements, I've always trusted and look forward to seeing and supporting what you create in the future. Eternal thanks to ALL allies.

Anonymous

Good luck guys! We're with you.

I’m upping my pledge this is great!! 🙌

Anonymous

I’m excited for the future of my current favorite channel. I will literally watch all of those new shows if I can. If y’all start needing help, I’m sure a boatload of us wouldn’t mind workin with you crazy dudes.

Anonymous

It's weird, and I can't explain why, but the idea of changing the actual format of the EZA Podcast is what gives me the most anxiety. There's literally nothing wrong with putting corrections at the end, and yet my brain rejects that notion.

Anonymous

Achieve it yourself, baby!

Anonymous

Woooo Gundam streams! I have a unopened master grade Marasai waiting just for this. mwa! <3

Anonymous

I'm upping my pledge because I love every single one of these announcements.

Anonymous

I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but Reaction Shots early access is now at $5 instead of $7 (It used to be in the $7 tier). "$5 patrons will also get early access to more shows including Frame Trap, Fiasconauts, Reaction Shots, and Friend Code." As a $5 patron, I haven't had Reaction Shots early access (until now?)

Anonymous

Currently only a $5 patron... I hope to be comfortable increasing my contributions sometime in the next year.

Honestly, streaming is my least favorite thing. I know people like it, and it's the least expensive and time intensive way to "put out content," but when you guys could be doing other, more creative things or covering more games with your time, streaming seems like a waste. Especially when it's at the cost of things like Top 10s and Game Sleuth. I respect the reasons behind the decisions, and for now I'm not changing my pledge, but please don't go any further down the streaming path.

EasyAllies

That's not something I changed. Wonder if it's been wrong for a while. -Bloodworth

Anonymous

I really love the focus on more streaming!!! And the $15 tier spoke to me haha, had to get it :) I'm so excited for phase 4, love each decision you guys made xx L&R

Anonymous

Been a patron since day 1. Just updated my pledge from $10 to $15 a month so I can join the Stream Team! I love all the new announcements and am excited for the next phase.

Anonymous

As elated as I am by most of this news, especially the return of Gundam streams, Tabletop Escapades getting canned is heartbreaking. I looked forward to those every Wednesday. I understand if you're not feeling it anymore, but at the least I feel like it should get a proper conclusion, similar to how you end every Fiasconauts.

Anonymous

As someone who has programmed a Pepper: do not buy one. It's fun to see peoples reaction to it, especially when you remote control it from an app and make it respond perfectly, but it has a lot of flaws for something that costs around $14,000. One example is that they put the microphone next to the cooling fan which made it really difficult to do any speech recognition because of the noise. Oh well, at least it wasn't my money wasted.

Anonymous

I was soooo nervous leading up to this announcement, I shouldn't have been, all the new stuff sounds FANTASTIC, the little changes are good, and while things being cancelled are always sad I feel like there was so much energy in the room last night for new shows that it'll all be worth it. More multi-person streams makes me feel cozy and I am so glad you've heard us! I had made my peace with Gundam Streams not returning and hadn't even mentioned it on the survey, I am fricking pumped to see it return, I went on a Gundam shopping spree just before you stopped streaming Gundam Construction so I am very excited to tackle the backlog :) Rest In Peace Tabletop Escapades (Tabletop Adventures at GT was my first real exposure to you guys a few months before you got shutdown) I feel alot of the memeable moments from Tabletop can find a similar home in Gundam Construction and The Occasional Board Game Show! In conclusion, I am so god damn excited!! P.S. EU friendly streams FTW!

Anonymous

I worry about leaning into streaming away from produced content. In my experience, unless the stream has a particular output, for instance, Critical Role. It generally produces a more lazy, and less structured piece of content. Where half of it is either silence, thanking people for subscribing, or responding to chat. Great for having on in the background whilst writing code, not something I would ever go out of my way to watch. Plus, when streams are from the US, even streams that are EU friendly in your eyes, often actually aren't to people who have responsibilities. All that being said; the later announcements mostly allayed my concerns as it seems like there's still going to be plenty of produced content. Plus, my favourite show is untouched, and I'm stoked for some of the new ideas.

gruntelite

Tabletop Escapades owns like the top 5 biggest laughs I've had in my whole life

Anonymous

Love all the announcement. Also, the more I think about it the more I think that removing goals is really smart.

Anonymous

i specifically asked for more multi-ally studio streams and you gave it to me so i'm bumping up to STREAM TEAM. I think i'm the most excited for more don't skips, getting a video voiced by and in the voice of ben is a rare treat, I'm really looking forward to more of that.

Anonymous

Also i have three gundam model kits sitting in a corner begging to be built, and I absolutely intend to build along with those streams in the future now.

Anonymous

Very sad to see some shows go, but also think this is the right direction. I think that an increase in streaming, and the leaning down of some existing produced shows will make the overall quality of EZA shows better. Jones I think the change to Trailer Jones is brilliant -- its an idea that suits a faster production cycle much better. The only thing I am skeptical of is the Occasional Board Game Show. Seems like a one-foot-in attempt to continue TTE and I cant really get excited about a show Ill only see a few times a year. Hopefully Im proven wrong! L&R.

Anonymous

The only thing I'll miss is the Top 10 (shame not every ally did an individual Top 10), so I'm excited for what Phase 4 will bring

Anonymous

For me living in the EU and having a 3 year old kid and a full time job, the strong focus on streaming sadly means I wont be seeing a lot of the new stuff coming out from you guys. That said, I understand that you guys work a lot and streams Is an efficient way to produce content and it lets you have time to play games together, it's easy to understand that that is something you need time to do. I look forward to a lot of the new shows aswell. Greetings and salutations from the north beyond the wall

Anonymous

Sad to hear Tabletop Escapades is off the table for now, but the news about Don't Skips is great. Those have always been fantastic and brought me exactly what I like about EZA most: the pure love for video games, even (if not especially) the weird/niche ones.

Anonymous

I have an idea about Hubers new show. You should definitely keep it to like 20mins max per episode, but since I saw everyone on stream screaming for uncut episodes, why not just have that as a patreon exclusive bonus?!

Anonymous

Nonsense, the Allies NEED a robot, I'm frankly shocked they've survived this long without one .

Anonymous

Love and Respect from Hong Kong. Thanks for giving me joy and peace during the hard time in HK,

Anonymous

Sounds like a full gear switch from highly produced content to more easily produced (I.E. less work intensive) streaming content.

Anonymous

As someone who got into Gunpla because of EZA, I am happy to see the Gundam streams return! They stopped doing them just when I started building Gundams so this announcement got me really hyped!

Anonymous

Hi. Don't know if this is going to be read or if it's already discussed, but you should use the phase 4 as opportunity to finally get rid of the monetary stats on patreon. None(?) of the top 20 on patreon has it active. And it makes sense. 50k is for many people an unfeasible amount of money. And if someone doesn't consider how many people (from California!) work full-time on EZA, that might actually hinder a person to join EZA. Just wanted to get some attention on this. L&R

Anonymous

SOOOOOOO disappointed to hear that Tabletop Escapades has ended! Just can't understand the decision, you guys even said that everyone loves it, the fans, you guys, everyone, so WTF

Steven Perry

Super sad we're losing TTE. My favorite thing has always been the Allies creativity, comedic writing, and improv skills. I know I'll still get this via Fiasconauts (which I LOVE), but TTE was always a consistent avenue for this. It would be great if you could add something weekly to make use to these talents you all have. It doesn't have to be TTE, but it would be such a waste not to have something. OBS looks AMAZING and I'm really excited for it, but boards games are not necessarily role playing and ~4/year is just so sparse. That said, all of the new/returning shows plus the prospect of bonus bits has me hype. While I don't care for streams, I'm hoping that having more allies in the studio at the same time will spark some more creative endeavors.

Anonymous

Honestly after the Top 10 Zelda Towns, I am perfectly happy for the series to end, better to put the focus on other exciting projects :)

Anonymous

Sounds like some wicked changes! Can’t wait to see Prison of love.

Anonymous

Very hyped for the Gundam streams! It was without a doubt my favourite show. To be honest, I don’t know anything about Gundams, but I love just hanging out with you guys and doing something creative myself. I’m also heartbroken by the Tabletop Escapades announcement. That show felt to me like watching a weekly series; anticipating next episode every week. The strength of that show was the excellent improvisation by all you guys. I hope that won’t be lost in the future. But in general extremely excited for Phase 4! And of course, looking forward to that long overdue Gundam shelf you promised with the new studio! :P -L&R

Just wanted to raise a point to do with the new podcast timings – international $5 patrons probably won't get the podcast until the weekend now – meaning they might not see the value in being $5 patrons if they (like a lot of people) only listen to podcasts on their work commute, and will have it for Monday either way..

Anonymous

I’m pretty upset about TTE and Fiasco but everything else sounds pretty spectacular so I really hope they make up for getting rid of my absolute favourite shows and replacing it with just.... way way less. But passion is passion and I’ve supported you guys from day one and that won’t change. Hopefully that passion shows and I really like the idea of using Patreon to make pilot seasons for potential larger series. At this point, more than anything I want Box Peak to come out cause I love it but also I just want Kyle doing more on camera again, be it a produced series or just with the others. Same with Brad. Just want more of him and for him to do his own show finally but I know they mentioned it briefly. They’ve touched on everything obviously, just giving opinions as a long standing community member and patron.

EasyAllies

Nothing's changing with Fiasconauts. It's still coming out once per month. -Bloodworth

Takes alot of preparation on Ben's end, which he'd probably rather spend on Don't Skips right now. Takes alot of time to film and needs the whole group present to film, which is hard when you're sending Allies to preview events or cons, family stuff comes up, they're busy with other shoots, etc. But sounded like it mostly came down to them not being ready yet to jump right back into the current campaign and not super enthusiastic to start something new with it. Given the support I've seen in the comments, I doubt it'll stay gone forever, just think of this as a much needed refresher in the interim and next time the Allies are asking for feedback remind them how much you miss it. Worked for Gundam Streams.

Anonymous

Even though i'm going to miss TTE, i love all of the changes. BUT, i would love to watch the whole streams from the edited versions of the new shows, because i think that the uncut bantering and charm (like Easy Livin' and other group streams) is what most people love about you (i do). L&R from germany

Anonymous

I loved it as well but think of how much work Ben put into it just to have the others ignore everything and blow stuff up or head in a different direction. I totally get he's feeling relief not having to come up with content every week. He'd been doing it for 5 years! ❤❤ Ben!

Anonymous

Id like to leave TTE in the hands of the FanFictionists. C'mon all you writers out there! Lets get some stories about what happens to our group, not to mention Necatur and Fame the Blood Hag who got left in the new world and who knows what happened when it changed to the new New one.

Anonymous

I've never actually seen a Dont Skip and ive been a patron for almost a year so that tells you how long its been since they made one. That said I now have a new show to go back and watch to fill me in before the new ones start coming out again.

Anonymous

Not true. They listed several new produced shows they are just switching from mostly individual streams so mostly coop streams.

Anonymous

The more people say "this is so great it should be available to everyone" the more I think it's so great it should stay patron exclusive ... Otherwise why be a patron. honestly $12 a year is not too much to ask and look how much you get for that $12!!

Anonymous

Just a quick final note because I've already made a lot of comments on people's comments but I like the trend of going away from solo streams as the main streaming content. 4 hours of one ally playing a game and reading chat is not my idea of prime entertainment. That being said, I do like the more intimate 1-2 hour length for occasional solo streams like the one Huber had last week. It gives a more personal connection with that ally. I love the co-op streams though because watching their interactions with each other and chat is really entertaining. And something I asked for in the survey. I love the idea of the board game show but I'd like it in more of the format of the Easy Update episodes when Ian plays games with other people. They could edit out the setting it up part and if its a game that takes 4 hours to play cut it up into 4 segments and post weekly (as with TTE) or 2 segments posted biweekly and have shorter 1-hr games like card games (someone above mentioned Uno-theres a new one called Dos) to fill in which would need less editing. Not too excited if I only get one show every quarter but maybe they meant recording once a quarter and editing to be released monthly. Still TBD. Frankly I like the less edited versions of shows like Fiasconauts and TTE where you start the camera and roll with it for an hour or two. They're still produced but require less turn around time. I love the idea of doing away with goals. It keeps you from locking yourselves down to monetary restrictions like if you want to do a full-play-through just do one! And for God's sake hire an editor and give Ian and Don a break! I want to see more of them ON camera not behind it =) <3<3<3. All in all I love the new changes and especially the enthusiasm behind them. I'd still like to see some higher tier pledges between $50 and $200 because that's a big jump. I think you'd be surprised how many people would be willing to go $75 or even $100 for the right incentive. L&R

Anonymous

For me it was the way Ian was talking about Fiasconauts in association with TTE I thought it was sort of being bundled in and replaced with the new show. I’m very excited to hear that was a misunderstanding on my part!!! And Jessie Blu, I completely agree kyles on a bunch still, I primarily was referring to creative endeavours in his part. Box Peak is wonderful and I’ve forced my whole family to watch it haha, I just want to see what comes next! It’s all based out of excitement. These new show they’ve been releasing have all been pretty delightful and seem creatively fulfilling so I’m thrilled to see what’s next, but it’s always sad to lose things you love, even if something else will replace it.

Anonymous

I love these announcements! Excited for the new changes coming to EZA. You all have been through a lot and you have come so far from your humble beginnings. It's awesome to see that our feedback is utilized in a constructive manner, that gives us valuable content, while allowing you all to act on your own ideas. While my comment is coming a bit late for this announcement, I have enjoyed the two person streams so far. I look forward to the new shows, especially Ians show that will share my passion for board games! L&R Allies.

I am glad to hear the shows not mentioned are staying. Although I am sure streaming is great for everyone our family personally doesn’t watch any streams. I’ve been a Pateron for a few years now and have followed GT since the Shane days and the majority of my personal interaction is what I get through the podcasts; audio feeds. I listen the EZA podcast weekly, Frame Trap and FriendCode and love listening to SpoilerMode after I’ve seen a film. It’s very rare that I’ll see the guys on video. Overall I’m sure the new shows and streaming is great but I’m sure there’s a quiet audience out there similar to me. Glad you are passionate about the new projects, keep up the outstanding work.
