One more week of paternity leave and I'm back at work! Not only that, but next week will be a big one for this Patreon. We're going to be making a lot of changes, and we'll go through all of them during next week's Tuesday night group stream. These changes are based on the recent survey we  posted that got a ton of responses, as well as your continued focus on improving Easy Allies through this show. Thank you for your ideas and patience!

- Brandon

BUSINESS QUESTIONS

BRANDON K GANN
Building off of both a question you answered in the above post and with Easy Livin now in the rearview, I was hoping you could speak as an outside viewer, what did you think did well and could use improvement from a viewer perspective (as opposed to being in the thick of it the past two years)? JONES - It’s all about the venue. Unlike our anniversary shows, we don’t take the time to go and see the venue in person before the event, and I think Easy Livin’ has evolved beyond that. If we do it again next year, I want to have more hands-on time with the venue before our reservation begins, so we don’t have to improvise with the equipment when we get there. The camera setup last year was great, but with no AC the living conditions were very uncomfortable, and I LOVED having the banner in the background this year instead of just throwing a blanket over the windows to block the sun. So every year has stuff I love and stuff I wish was better the next year. The only way to really take advantage of the venue is to plan more beforehand. It’s just tricky to spend a whole day traveling just for prep-work. We haven’t had a post-mortem on this year’s Easy Livin’ yet. I’m looking forward to hearing what went right and wrong from the team and what we could do better in 2020.

ALEX CASTELLANOS
Since you all are re-thinking how you all go about things and re-evaluating tiers / goals / etc., I would suggest that you also re-think one other thing: displaying that amount of money you make per month on Patreon.  I understand why you do it, and to be honest, I like having it shown.  But, most of your contemporaries no longer show the amount of money that they make per month on their Patreon pages and one would assume that it's for good reason.  With all of the changes that EZA is looking to make or not make, could you possibly consider re-formatting things in such a way where the $$/month goal is not at the front and center ($55k goal, $60k goal, etc.) but rather the number of patrons becomes the goal? or some other metric entirely? JONES - This definitely came up during our meeting, and we looked at the positives and negatives of this and lots of other possible changes we could make to goals. There’s no easy answer because it works both ways. It makes our Patreon look good when people see how much we’re bringing in, but it also makes us look bad to our Patrons when that number visibly drops. We’ll obviously talk more about this in the coming weeks, but that was definitely considered.

KIRBU
Any chance you could give us a check-in with your Builders 2 progress in the future, assuming you're sticking with it by then? JONES - Amanda and I will definitely stream it at some point and show off all the stuff that we’ve been building. She’s been great at pointing out small details that I missed because I just blazed through the story stuff.

SAMUEL CARDWELL
A few comments on Easy Livin'. Firstly, it was great! Secondly, I did think the set-up was a little bit of a downgrade from last year. I presume the lack of multi-cam was purely down to logistics, but I did miss the quick and easy changes from co-op cam to multi-ally. I also think the wider set-up made it easier to get  a large group involved - this time, it did sometimes feel like the people at the back of the group were a bit ancillary. Obviously, you've got to take whatever house you can get, but worth bearing in mind for next time! Thirdly, I think the selection of games was really good - a nice mix of new, retro, good, 'dumb'. In hindsight, Shrek was maybe a little TOO dumb, but the allies were still on great form until the last hour or so when it became a bit gruelling. I did miss a properly *long*  full playthrough. I enjoyed DKC2, but it wasn't quite as engaging as either Sunshine or MGS. Finally! Freezy Livin'? Obviously it'd be a big commitment to do it twice a year, but it a cosy winter marathon might be a good way to freshen things up. Ian and Don Hit the Slopes. BLOODWORTH - I miss having multi-cam and the beach shot too. It kind of went down the way it did for two reasons. First, we didn’t want to have to tear apart both the stream room and the control room. Secondly, our view of the beach really couldn’t have avoided including random people you’d be able to identify. Kyle really liked having his coop cam setup, so maybe next year, we can prepare a way to do that without needing the switcher. A lot can definitely change based on the location. We couldn’t have even put the banner up correctly in a lot of places, but the loft allowed us to hang it from the second floor. “Freezy Livin’” though I was already feeling this year. It got surprisingly cold that first night we were streaming.

STRAWHATNINJA
Would there ever be a game release that would make you move Easy Livin' to a different week? JONES - I imagine there could be, although once the house is booked and everyone’s cleared their schedule for that weekend it’s difficult to move things around, so we’d just have to move forward.

MEGAN LINART
Wondering what the plans were for Gamescom this year? Are you going to do something similar to last year and just react to the trailers? Or not do anything at all. JONES - Right now we just plan to do reactions, similar to last year.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

STEVES
Do you still get excited to this day when Mr Jones by Counting Crows gets played? JONES - Definitely. It is the song of my people. I should probably learn the words one of these days.

VARUN KACHHWAHA
Thought I'd ask you some questions that were asked on the previous podcast because I was interested in your perspectives on them. Mainly the question about what you think can fail in Death Stranding, and do you think games need to be fun? What do you look for when you play a game? JONES - I think Kojima needs to ease up on the “stranding genre” talk. He made a really supernaturally obscure game, but seems frustrated that people don’t understand what he’s going for. I think he needs to make up his mind, because if he thinks there’s a specific way people need to enjoy Death Stranding he’s setting himself up for disappointment. I hope that he can step back and let the game speak for itself. And I usually look for freedom in games, whether it’s freedom of creativity in DQ Builders, freedom of exploration in GTA or Zelda, or freedom of choice in Telltale games or Life is Strange. I’m not a fan of when games tell me I have to play it a particular way, which is why it took me so long to get familiar with the Souls franchise.

ASBO ZAPPRUDER
I have two random, probably unanswerable questions that came up during Easy Livin' but are too stupid and don't deserve to be read out loud: 1. Why has Cranky Kong aged so much but Mario and Pauline haven't? 2. In both Disney games played by Ben and Damiani, Donald was dragged for having a big butt. Is this a running gag that I somehow missed my whole life or is it just a weird coincidence? JONES - 1. There are some really weird things going on in the Mushroom Kingdom and beyond, and I don’t know if we’ll ever understand the reasons why. Multiple dimensions is one way to explain it, but then there’s the complicated relationship between Peach and Bowser. And all the Baby versions? Very confusing. 2. This is not a running gag to my knowledge. I know that he caused scandals in some foreign countries because he doesn’t wear pants. I don’t think he has a big butt. I think it’s just his prominent tail feathers. This sounds like hit-detection nonsense.

Wait a second... you're going through all your Patreon changes on your Twitch group night stream? Shouldn't your Patreon changes be broadcast to your Patreon audience? Unless you're making these changes to try and reel in un-patron'ed members of the Twitch audience. I know there is definitely overlap, but I hope you'll consider your audience who have jobs or a timezone that prevent live Twitch viewing.

Megan Linart

So just started Red Dead Redemption 2 back up and enjoying it a lot more my second time through, I don’t have to focus on the campaign as much and can just enjoy the open world. I’m curious when you played did you find it more enjoyable when you could just take your time and explore the world? Or just hammer through the campaign? As much as I liked the campaign I find just ignoring it helps me enjoy it more.

So that e3 leak thing happen. A simple google search and bam your phone number and address is there for all to see. Well that sucks. Thoughts and opinions? Are you guys doing anything different to protect yourself from trolls and harassers? Still planning on going to e3 next year knowing this leak happen? Also still confuse about how questions for cup of Jones will work. Will this be answer today 8/5/19 or next week?

I'm sure they will accompany it with a Patreon post, as they have in the past.

Hey Mr. Jones! In the event, you won't/can't give your thoughts about the ESA debacle from the start of this month on the podcast, may I ask your take on the situation, even if it's a simple no comment? I asked via Love & Respect if EZA was affected and I didn't see an official statement anywhere, I'm very concerned for you all. Again, if you look deadpan at the camera, say "No comment," and move onto the next Patron, thank you very much for reading. I hope you and the family are doing well and welcome back to full time EZA! Have a wonderful rest of your day and Cheers!

Greetings Mr.Jones. Long Time Listener, First time Business Question Writer. I just want to comment on the Length of Cup of Jones. I very much enjoy the length of the show and the amount of consideration to each question. Is it possible to just cut the 1st 15 mins or just your casual update before the question portion, then have a 2nd part of the video for your questions and editorial. If you're worried about email spam, you can also did what Ben did for the recent frame trap and add the URL for the question portion in the Patreon Post. Do you think it's possible or is there a drawback to this? Love and Respect.

rrice64

Greetings, Jones. Hope all is well. I've been with you guys (under the old name zero_the_clown whether or not you remember haha) for a long time, and I've always loved what you guys represent and portray. Love and respect seems to go beyond a Kyle bit, in particular, when it comes to not shunning sponsors on the podcast that 'gift' their sponsorship to a charitable cause. The fact that you guys so effortlessly plug charities that other's put forth got me wondering: why not use Easy Livin's 50 hour stream to do some sort of charity drive? I feel like the effects would be two-fold. One, you'd obviously mobilize your current EZA fans/patrons/twitch-viewers to donate to a good cause. But two, I feel like a move like that would get more eyes on the product in general, as word starts to spread about the charity stream, articles get written, reddit posts get made, twitch viewership climbs, patreon numbers go up, etc. Using what you're already doing (Easy Livin') as a way to help others AND to grow yourselves seems like a good idea to me, but as this isn't the most unique idea, I'm sure it's been thought of on your side and for one reason or another denied. If that's the case, how come? And if you hadn't considered this, do you think it's something to consider for future Easy Livin's (or separate marathon stream event if need be)? Sorry for the long-winded question! L&R

They actually did a charity stream for Able Gamers last year in July where they raised $12k. I know they do want to do another charity stream at some point this year, it's just been busy for them so far. Would adding timestamps help? Cup of Jones is live most of the time so splitting up the video seems more work than necessary. It would be added in a bit later but it might help you if they were able to mark down the start times of the business and personal questions if that's what you're after.

Morning Jones, I have a suggestion about incorporating twitch and patreon. You could create a chat room with the twitch media player in www.easyallies.com/chat which could allow patrons to use twitch emotes etc. I really believe that the community is divided. Your doing a patreon stream on twitch not linked to the patreon. Thanks The infamous iboshow

Anonymous

Mr Jones and Bloodworth, one thing that came to my mind is to monitor the stream, why don't you open the twitch app on any of your phones and check the sound quality, i do that on my job a lot when there are town halls conferences, open the call of the videoconference and check everything for other people instead of waiting everyone yelling and spamming the issues that you may have, for example, Damiani and Ian could do that on the first 5 minutes of the stream and leave the stream open on a phone or laptop just to quick fix if on the middle of the stream starts buckling.

Anonymous

In a previous CoJ someone mentioned making Design Lab a limited run Patreon exclusive show which I think would be an awesome idea. Each episode could be a different game you design stuff in and Patrons could submit ideas for the mid-episode Game Changer.

Hello Brandon. Easy Living 2019 was great and you weren’t missed (in a good way). This got me thinking. You once dreamed of doing Easy Allies Camping Trip only to be denied by Kyle. Well, what if Kyle stays home and you go explore nature with the rest of the allies. I’m sure it will also be great. Also Kyle can later record his reaction to your Camping Trip video like he did with Pokémon Sword & Shield announcement Direct. Just a suggestion, no expectations or anything.

EasyAllies

Without specifically going through our contract, I think it's safe to say Twitch would not be a fan of that. Regarding the announcement, see my response above. This is not a "Patreon announcement" it's an Easy Allies announcement. -Bloodworth

Good to have you back in full form Jones. Personal question this time, thoughts on Cobra Kai? Do you have any interest in the show or Karate Kid franchise? Cheers

Anonymous

Drat. Wondering how I missed the survey. Have been a patron since day 1 but this is the first I heard of it. Was it a patreon post that I somehow missed? Looking back through my email archive I can't find a match for 'Easy Allies" survey' even though I get email alerts for most uploads. Oh well, hopefully I'll get a chance to give some feedback next time (I have plenty) 🙂

Edit: this is not a submitted question for the next episode, just a comment on the upcoming phase 4 announcements and EZA in general: I think I missed the survey. One of the main reasons why I became a Patreon was to keep the chance for a spiritual successor to The Final Bosman alive. Now it's totally fine if Kyle doesn't want to put on a suit and sit on a tiny desk again, but man - if one of the phase four changes should be something / anything where we get more thoughts and observations from Kyle on game design and game company behavior - even if it's just a short monthly written blog post - this would make me so happy. There were a few moments where this genius side of Kyle shined through in the podcasts, but they are rare, short and unscripted, as he has all hands full with moderating the thing. It's not like I will walk away if that shouldn't happen, but I can't lie and say that this isn't highly demotivating for me personally to be engaged and exited. Still love all Allies, and EZA is more than just one show or person (the way GT was more than just TFB) but while I have to respect whatever decision Kyle makes, it just feels like such a waste of potential.

Re: Abso's Personal Question: I'm reminded of an old Tiny Toon's episode where Babs becomes infatuated with an old 20's cartoon character no one remembers. They explained that characters like Bugs Bunny never age because the audience laughter keeps them young, and when no one remembers them they age normally. I love that head cannon and think that could apply in some ways, ever if he's technically the original DK. L&R

Hey Jones, watching HOG and I just have a general question, is this something we should take serious anymore? If people are purposely try to get a game 0 points to get it banned, are we just treating this as a bit from now on? Originally, I thought the idea was to get a consensus of all 9 allies when possible and find out which games they felt are the best of all. With people constantly abusing the rules and not taking it serious, is it worth wasting a Tuesday on anymore? Your salty FF7 loving pal, who still loves all of you, especially Ian, Heidern98 LnR4L

Anonymous

This isn't the first time people have made a total joke out of the games they have brought to HOG and to be honest I am just a bit sick of the whole thing being a bit or a lie. Man I don't want to sound like a dick cause I really really love you guys but I am honestly just a bit pissed that people are so willing to just upset either us or other allies by mocking games we love. I didn't think that was what HOG or the allies was about and its certainly not love and respect. I may be off here and thats why I come to you Jones (and Blood) but this isnt something I have brought to your attention just because of some FF7 butthurt but something thats been stewing for a while. At this point Id really rather watch some fun games and jolly times then to see manipulation and some make it up as we go show.

Anonymous

A simple request for HoG streams going forward: if someone has a video, always keep the Allies in a corner on the screen. One of the best parts of HoG is seeing the group react to the presentations and games chosen. Damiani and Kyle had especially funny videos this time and we missed the reactions. It makes no sense to have the reason we're watching (you guys) off screen! Thanks.

Sekiro505

I have to admit i do like this format! Sometimes i cant listen or see the video. Sometimes i can only just read as it has been the case. I would like hybrid for a future reference. i know its been said but i wanted to say it. QUESTION! Would you like a second child :) ?

Anonymous

So, I'm a massive fan of Ian's and even I think he might gone a *little* too far last night haha. But I actually think the way the voting shook out kind of vindicated 'the process'. The games that people put honest presentations into did well. I don't think for a second that anyone other than Ben really likes Phantasy Star more than FFVII or Halo. Worth remembering that HoG actually *isn't* serious. It's nine(ish) random people arguing about video games for two hours, not the Supreme Court. I can't think of a single installment that didn't have shenanigans, leftfield picks, ironic speeches, shady deals, yellow cards... It's supposed to be a bit of fun!

Anonymous

Hi Jones! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all have planned for the future of Easy Allies. But this transition to the new phase of EZA has me wondering a bit about the beginnings. So, let's go back in time to each day you first met each of the Allies. If someone would have told you then that someday you would be business partners with that person, how would you have reacted?

Anonymous

Personal: Do you have any personal methods for getting yourself out of a depressive and/or creative slump?

Kirbu

I was surprised to see this topic not make the podcast, but I can totally understand why it maybe wouldn't. As someone who did see the list, some outlets were done exceptionally rotten by the ESA's incompetence. Hopefully Jones can say something different, but what I'm most worried about this situation is that everyone involved can't do anything but shrug their shoulders, pay for identity protection services and move on as though it's business as normal. What recourse do any of these outlets have other than to kneecap their own product? :(

Anonymous

Hey Jones, by the time this is airing, we won't know the details of Easy Allies Phase 4 until tomorrow, but can you give us some vague thoughts as to where you want EZA to go with this new phase, without any specifics? We need us a tease, Jones. L&R, Josh Read

Kirbu

With Kyle and Ian's blatant, outright *sabotage* of the sacred Hall of Greats this week, I simply must know... Has there ever been any serious consideration to Hall of Hates? I have to admit it's always a treat when the gloves come off and the allies dig into reasons small or large on why they don't like a game. Normally it's a huge tangent, and you can read the room is eager to course correct the longer Kyle spends complaining about something like the Gold Man, so it never gets fully indulged outside of a livestream. Maybe not Hall of Hates specifically, but I'm just curious if there's ever been any interest or discussion on something to that effect amongst the allies. Or is serious and not-so-serious criticism discussion forever relegated to ill-timed tangents!

Anonymous

I'm personally excited for Phase 4 because I have become disinterested in some EZA shows lately. I want a shakeup to occur, and I love it when changes are made for more improvement. Other people won't like the changes as much as me. How will you deal with the eventual deluge of feedback that will be received after Tuesday evening? (Please don't make a drastic/kneejerk cutting of changes because some people immediately hate it, i.e. keep the EZA podcast on the new Friday/Sunday release schedule, please)

Anonymous

Business question: Ninja reportedly received a decent sum to move over to Mixer from Twitch. Would EZA consider doing the same if that sort of offer was made, or is the viewer base that Twitch provides so integral to the EZA business model that it could never seriously be considered?

Anonymous

Hey Jones, With phase 4 about to kick off, and after the dips we’ve seen on Patreon, both this year and last, it is safe to say that the Patreon probably needs a refresh at least once a year to keep things feeling exciting? If so, and I know it’s hard to look that far ahead, do you see yourselves maybe planning a refresh a bit more far in advance next year, hopefully before any potential dip would come? L&R

(is uh gear ee) Jones, I was originally going to write a post about Hall of Greats but then my son started crying and I went to get him (I myself am a 5 month new father). When I sat back down, I figured my time and energy would be better used to remind you that even at 3 am when you feel defeated as a father because he won't stop crying even after you've tried everything, you're still doing a great job. Milo is lucky to have the two of you in his life. Love and Respect.

Yui

Psst. Is Cup changing in Phase 4?

Anonymous

Jones, I know that the Phase 4 announcement is coming on Tuesday, but you will be taking a more longform approach to responding to the surveys on Cup of Jones?

Anonymous

This is the first Hall of Greats that you missed out if I recall correctly? Even if it wasn't, I was wondering what was your thoughts on the experience as a viewer? I've heard many comments, including the one by the Finnish Ally below, talking about how the vibes were really bad throughout. Did you sense any of that as well? Is everything okay between the Allies? I understand everyone can't get along all the time, but there was something about the HOG that I can't quite put my finger on. A lot of it didn't feel like a bit or anything. It felt like there was some elephant in the room, an uneasy tension somewhat. A lot of this is from comments I have read, and could easily be confirmation bias from those comments that I have read. I'm not sure if you can reveal this or not, but is anyone leaving in phase 4? Are there tensions within the allies? Again, more things I've read here and on Reddit. But I'm the type go get worried easily. Apologies in advance. I know this is a very difficult question to answer, and there are many things you probably can not or should not say. And a lot of it is hearsay. I apologise if any of this comes across as being harsh or mean or from a negative place at all.

Hey Jones I haven't dared to pitch a show idea before. But since changes are already on the way, i thought what the heck. Last January Ian made Easy Update episode called "Video Game Fantasy Draft League Thing". The goal of Fantasy Critic's fantasy draft is basically bet on OpenCritic scores. And the person whose games get the most points, wins. This particular episode has over 27 thousands views which is among the best in the shows history. This got me thinking. Would it be worth of consideration to try to make this an annual show? And make it bigger in every way? I'm talking about using the Mysterious Monsters set up, letting Huber host, having couple of big name guests challenging the Allies, putting the Slusser Cup or the championship belt on the line etc. I also took the liberty to write down few plusses, I let you to come up with the minuses ;) + This show would differentiate yourself from other channels, since only SIFTD is putting out similar content. Daily Fantasy Sports are also extremely popular. + Fantasy Draft would be a nice combination of Mysterious Monsters, Betting Specials and annual prediction streams. So, right in your wheelhouse. + This wouldn't be a weekly or monthly job. You would have to do only two shows per year: the main show + results show at the end of the year. Plus it would be a great way to integrate more guests. + The ideal air time would be late January - early February, so this show would give you another piece of quality content between GOTYs and your anniversary show. + And finally, this would be a nice little nod from EZA to people like me who like play sports games. Thoughts? -- Here's the Easy Update episode in question + TNT's NBA Fantasy Draft which's format was very entertaining Easy Update Episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qqDq-0I8UQ TNT Ultimate All Star Fantasy Draft: https://youtu.be/QHbdbj4TRfw?t=287 FantasyCritic's site: https://www.fantasycritic.games/

Last HOG was my least favorite by far. Not just two missing Allies, but bad vibes overall. Feels bad since we get just one every three months and it is my favorite EZA show.

Anonymous

Hey Jones. I move that the Allies return to the former voting process and confessional cam for Hall of Greats. We don't need to be surprised by the results; we want to hear the Allies explaining their thought processes.

Will the group be doing reactions for Gamescom? Looks like we’re getting a packed day on the 19th with Inside Xbox, Stadia Connect, and Opening Night Live with GK.

Welcome back Jones! I miss the regular scheduled collection of EZA streams! My usual routine since the website was formed is on Monday checking the schedule and seeing what all the allies are planning to stream for this week in their usual 1-2 hour block. This allowed me to plan on what I wanted to try and catch live and I also feel these streams (and streaming in general) really adds a connection and between the allies and the fan base that the other forms of content can't provide (shows, podcasts, etc). However this year it’s really dropped off significantly. And when a stream does happen, it’s never scheduled and can pop up whenever. Which in the past as a late night Damiani stream was fine but didn’t replace his usual Friday slot. Now i'll take that over no streams at all but i did enjoy a level of regularity. I know for Huber and you there’s been significant personal items to deal with along with the studio move, so some stretches make sense. But right now outside of Kyle and the group stream it’s always up in the air. I understand other work priorities can pop up but I miss the regular Brandon, Huber, Ben, Brad, etc streams each week. With the phase 4 about to roll out is there any chance streaming is an area of refocus? It seems odd just when it seemed the subs and streaming were really growing at the end of last year the streaming commitment dropped off. P.S. Easy livin is my favorite event you do. Nothing beats the allies streaming together having fun with a very fun group from chat

Business question: Like often discussed on Cup of Jones, EZA operates on the philosophy that the Allies do the things they personally are interested in doing. That they should only create the content they want to do, not the content a boss is ordering them to do. I really like this artist-friendly approach, and think it's very healthy for creativity and employee satisfaction. But I recently had a thought. There is another company that I can think of that operates similarly: Valve. The employees at Valve can move their desks freely around the building to join or leave whatever project they like. If they don't feel like working on CS:GO anymore, they can just go and join a different team. Maybe help out with DOTA for a few weeks, then move on to some unreleased third installment, then switch over to help out with Artifact, before starting to work on their own personal project. While this must be a great work environment for the employees, I have the suspicion that those loose structures are a contributing factor to why we haven't seen a new Half Life or Left 4 Dead for such a long time. There have to be so many unfinished projects and ideas in their archives caused by this, that we will never know about. So I wonder: Do you see any negative qualities in regards to this philosophy? If yes, how much do they weigh? Is this an area that was up for examination during your phase 4 discussions? While I would not expect it to be canned, I can imagine small tweaks being a possibility. I don't want to make a case for this approach to be ditched, but I'm curious if and how you evaluate it's efficiency and impact on your content. L&R

Mr. Jones, How do you feel about American politicians citing violent video games as a cause of mass shootings? Do you have any thoughts on gun control in America now that your industry is being scrutinised? Also, as a leader in the video games industry, would you be willing to reach out to politicians and attempt to discus gun violence and video games with the goal of educating/informing them on the matter? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

Liz Castro

Hello Papa Jones! I was watching a YouTubers try not to laugh challenge video from the Fine Brothers channel and I wondered if you or any other Ally would ever participate in something like that?

Have you had much time to play Super Mario Maker 2 since the game was released? If so, what are your thoughts on the game compared to the first one? This is my first Mario Maker title and I have been so enraptured in the gameplay loop of creating and playing and getting involved in the online communities. I'm looking forward to future updates, and so far the ability to play with friends and an additional increase in the created level cap have been confirmed.

Reposting again cause Patreon ate my comment TWICE: Okay, so we've had a few posts about how the new format for HoG wasn' t so great, and how the "vibes" felt a bit off for this one, but I wanna address the elephant in the room and talk about Ian's presentation specifically, cause it really didn't sit right with me and going by the YouTube comments I'm not alone in feeling that way... Now it's not an easy subject to talk about since it's directed at one Ally specifically, so let me preface this by saying I don't have anything against Ian personally. Sure he can be very opinionated and isn't shy about letting you know it which can rub people the wrong way at times, but I've always been of the opinion that that's part and parcel of who he is, and who he is is an incredibly thoughtful, intelligent, creative human being with a lot to contribute so while I don't necessarily always agree with everything he says, generally I do respect his opinions and appreciate his input, and I think he's an essential part of what makes Easy Allies the wonderful group that you are. Now with all that being said, his presentation this time for me really crossed a line between feeling like satire and light-hearted trolling (see Bosman or Damiani's presentations) into feeling genuinely spiteful and malicious. I think the intention behind his presentation was to make a statement that it doesn't matter how good or bad a HoG presentation is, people just vote based on their preconceived opinions of a game anyway (which incidentally I don't think is true otherwise PSO wouldn't have been joint first this time and Dark Souls wouldn't have been banned last time), but regardless of intent I think it's fair to say that Ian just took it way too far this time. If he'd just put together a deliberately bad presentation formed of quotes from questionable sources I would have been disappointed and maybe a little annoyed but I wouldn't have been writing this post, it's the fact that he chose to pair it up with images that many people will find disturbing (did you see poor Ben grimace and start shuffling uncomfortably when the spider popped up?) and most egregiously, deliberately distorted, overly loud audio which can only have been intended to hurt people's ears (thank God I had my speakers on low and wasn't wearing headphones) that took it from being disappointing to downright disrespectful of the audience in my opinion. This, to me, constitutes unacceptable behaviour and while I won't be so bold as to tell you how I think you should handle it or what the repercussions should be, I do think it's an issue that deserves some serious thought and I will say that at the very least I don't want to see another presentation quite like this one ever again. Possibly the saddest part of all of this is that when Ian decides to put his heart into it (Myst and Silent Hill 2 spring to mind) he can produce some truly wonderful stuff... I just want HoG to be fun again cause when it's good it makes for some of the best streams you guys do, it's just unfortunate that this particular one will forever be tainted in my eyes.

Hi, Jones. I hope you used some of this time away from Easy Allies to experience how viewers see some of the content you all create. I know most of you rarely watch EZA's content, specially content you're not directly involved, so this should have been an interesting situation - being part of the group, but being away and watching with an outside perspective. Can you please talk about anything you noticed or found interesting that maybe you hadn't before? Doesn't matter if it was Reviews, Previews, Reactions, Easy Livin', Hall of Greats, etc. Hopefully this helped you understand a little better how we - the audience - see Easy Allies as a company, the Allies and the content you all produce. This is like a sort of survey for Brandon Jones, the viewer, not "Bran Manager". Genuinely interested in your takes from an outside perspective, even if not entirely outside and for only a few weeks. About Cup of Jones being long in the surveys' takeaways, I love that. However I understand it takes precious time away from you that you could spend with your family, so I'm completely fine if you make them short. Additionally, I read this week that "being kind and attentive to others helps with anxiety", so hopefully Cup of Jones acts like a form of therapy/catharsis for you. I'm sure it does the same for me sometimes, as well as other members of the community in helping us express some of our opinions and feelings. L & R PS. Sorry for this second question, but I'm sure you will like it. Today on the TV news they showed a company that decided to give the fathers of new born children 6 months of patternity leave - laws only give 6 months to the mother, fathers only get 5 days here. So it's a very generous benefit the company is giving the fathers. Any chance Easy Allies can give you 1-2 extra month(s) of patternity leave? Or at the very least you just do half-time hours for the next 1-2 month(s)? Just want you to spend as much time with your family as possible.

There was an Easy Update, Don't Laugh, they weren't watching videos for it so it's a little different but they were taking turns trying to make each other laugh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bifd2DNkRdc

Hi Jonesy, Given the news of Ninja's recent departure from Twitch to Mixer, I wanted to ask if there has been any thought given to an exit strategy from Twitch for EZA, should we find ourselves in a position where Mixer becomes the more popular streaming platform. Not suggesting this is actually going to happen, just curious as to if EZA would jump ship, and as to how much popularity to have to shift for that to happen. L&R, Alex McMillan
