Hi everyone--
I promise this isn't a weird trick for our next betting special.
Easy Allies has more patrons than ever, and in a weird way we're never actually sure what you like--if you're here for the streams or reviews or one of those people who only listens to the podcast for the corrections.
As we're figuring out the next phase of EZA, we think it would be valuable to have some data from our audience. This survey is just five questions:
  - What would you like to see more of?
  - What would you like to see less of?
  - Is there a new Patreon goal you'd like to see?
  - Is there a new Patreon reward tier you'd like to see?
  - Why did you become a patron of Easy Allies?
All questions have a character limit of 300, just a little over a tweet, because I have a feeling we're going to get a lot of responses. You can skip any question. We have absolutely no way of knowing who submitted which response, so you can be harsh if you feel like it.
  Here it is: https://forms.gle/9aZdEobzHKN9VZ158

Thanks for your time,
Kyle

More "produced" videos. Less solo streams as a result. L&R, keep up the good work!

Anonymous

Kyle, the betting special was a lot more fun having patron involvement so thanks for that. Looking forward to more. L&R

Anonymous

I agree with this and put less solo streams as well. Group streams are fine, but I'm not a huge fan of watching others play games.

Anonymous

Thank you so much for doing this. I think you're going to find that those of us that pay really enjoy the weird stuff more than the public. Keep it up!

Anonymous

this? is a good idea. thanks, Allies.

Kiraz

Done and done!

Anonymous

I also have a lot to express but I’ll try condense everything in that poll, love you guys, I hope you can get a good overview of your community in this poll and see what they want to see :) L&R

Anonymous

Should've added a field just to give general thoughts and concerns that may not fit into the 5 questions

Anonymous

I’ve said this before but you guys need short-form content. 10-15 minutes maximum. So much of your content is 1-3 hours and that’s just asking a lot from your viewer. Unless those longer videos have audio versions I can listen to while I’m working, I skip them entirely. I don’t want the longer stuff to go away necessarily, I just want more accessible content and I think that would also help the YouTube channel grow.

Anonymous

hard disagree. Whatever length they give us and feel is appropriate for the video i will take. In fact i much love their long videos. But again, whatever they believe to be an appropriate length for that specific video.

Anonymous

I don't mind if Weekly Clips become a Patreon goal. I'll up my pledge to get this back. I put this in the form

Anonymous

Submitted my form! Thanks for including us! I love you all! L&R!

I cooked fish and my whole house smells terrible. Have any allies done this?

Anonymous

Thanks for this, it means a great deal to us that you care. Best of luck

Anonymous

Yep, been there. PSA: Never heat up a fish in the microwave at work. People will hate you forever and rightfully so.

Anonymous

Scripted comedy type things like old mandatory update / final bosman

Anonymous

Kris Frederick uploads them to the EZA Weekly Clips YouTube channel and is kinda endorsed unofficially by the allies, check em out :)

Bokthand

Hard to fit into 300 words, but I added what I thought was important.

Anonymous

This. Patreons are often way more into EZA lore and Canon than actual video game stuff.

more surveys

Humble request guys. If you were ever a fan of Gundam Streams please remember to request it. Even if it is just two hours a month. I miss them. ---- reward idea -----Kyle designs stickers each month or bi monthly. Just weird off the wall designs that we can purchase or for a patreon tier reward. Stuff you could slap on your PC or whatever. Don't know how realistic that is but I would look forward to that.

Christophe Fettouhi

first yes they do need other content like shorter videos etc but to do this they need more money and more people so I think focusing on patreon and selling the higher tiers to people that stick with 1-5$ is what should be done. we have so many people as patreons but a lot of people stick to the really low tiers and I personally gone above 25 because there is really little value imo. people want more or better cfontent but EZA crew has said they can't pump out more unless they get more people or shows will have to be dropped all costs money.

A Joker Fan

forgot to add bring back the gundam stream

Anonymous

kyle has said so many times he has no interest in doing FB again for many reasons.

Anonymous

Thanks for this opportunity. I've tried being constructive as possible, I hope you get useful stuff out of the survey results in general :) L&R

Anonymous

Definitely want more Tabletop Escapades in some form or another, either that or a chemical substitute to counteract withdrawal.

Anonymous

“We have absolutely no way of knowing who submitted which response, so you can be harsh if you feel like it.” Wrong! I signed my response.

Anonymous

Thanks for the survey. I immediately did it. I'm not sure how helpful it will be, but hopefully it helps a little. L & R

Anonymous

Gundam building and more betting would be nice. It brings some spice when the allies get creative with the betting terms.

Anonymous

This may sound like a stupid idea but I would LOVE to see a monthly Bosman/Jones show. They have a unique chemistry which should be explored more. Maybe some kind of a tongue-in-cheek debate show :D

Anonymous

Done. This is a great tool for them and I really hope the majority of patrons who respond are the most active ones and love EZA as they are now and not trying to get them to go back to being "more like the GT days". They aren't GT anymore.

Andrew Chalmers

You should have some basic extra questions that simply have options. It would make it far easier to analyze the data (e.g., which shows do we watch, then list the shows that we can tick off). Going through hundreds of messages x5 would be a pain to analyze.

Anonymous

Hopefully they'll do additional surveys. Maybe one a year and incorporate this suggestion into future surveys!

Anonymous

My number 1 request is more group streams, but not whole-group streams. Some of my favorite old content was Huber+2 others who played the old RE games with him or when Ben played RE3 with Huber and a rotating cast of guys who came in. Easy Allies works best when you have each other to bounce off of, even if it isn't the whole crew. Individual streams aren't as interesting because of that, as great as you all are.

Anonymous

I think one per quarter for $25 and up patrons (podcast producer level) would make me feel like they care more about our input. Several Allies have mentioned only reading patreon comments on their own posts and not watching the content after posting. Jones is the only one that comments his opinion regularly and q&a is limited to 2hrs. Higher tiers will give more incentives to raise our pledges. Also, $50 gives only an additional 1 email/mo benefit. They should come up with higher tiers that give more community involvement to encourage current patrons to raise their pledges. Should be $30 or $35 and $75 and $100 tiers.

Anonymous

This is a good quality survey, they should do one with more quantity data as well, even though I guess they get a lot of data from the views/analytics.

VGJunky

You mean one survey per quarter for just $25 and up? Doesn't feel productive to exclude such a huge portion of their support base by cutting out the 1-20 range

VGJunky

Don't do Final Bosman if you don't want to - and I wish people would stop asking you for it

Anonymous

The 'above $25 teir's being charity' is a big concern for people that can afford it. I feel EZA need to incentivise a $15 teir or bring back a $2 teir that has strong community involvement to get people past $1. I was $5 until movie club and $7 until community showcase was revamped. I won't go to Q&A unless it was stated that all questions would be answered.

Anonymous

I am re-listening to season 1. It's funny how much and how little has changed. The crew is definitely less salty in s2 than they used to be, which is nice.

Anonymous

I didn't put this in my form but yeah even another ---- plays ----. Where a different Ally plays a game for the first time and chronicles their time with the game to someone who has beaten it. Would love to hear Ian play Ocarina of Time and chat with Damiani about how he spent 6 hours trying to work out how to get through the water dungeon.

Anonymous

Another Idea just popped in my head. Patreon exclusive Written Don't Skips. Played a game that you loved in your past time? Didn't capture footage but wanted to share your experience? Have a written version of a Don't Skip for Patrons. You can still talk at length about the games on frame trap but this gives a nice short piece of content to those Allies eager for more gaming updates.

Anonymous

I love watching the full playthroughs (one sittings or not). Maybe more anime driven content would be rad. Or possibly videos of you guys indulging a franchise you haven't been introduced to yet/ don't play often/ aren't fond of. People love reaction stuff or opinionated content. Idk just love watching you guys play games and express yourselves. L&R!

Hey Allies, there's a Mega-sponsor tier...what about for $100 you could set up a Mini-sponsor tier that gets name and, maybe one web address or twitter handle in the text on the podcast post and in the Halftime just say something like "and thank you to our Mini-sponsors. You'll find their information in the description" but they're not mentioned individually on the show? ... just a thought that popped into my head =)

Anonymous

Will the results of this survey be discussed anywhere? I’m very curious about what the general sentiment is amongst the allies.

Sam Strajack

I subscribe because none of my friends enjoy the same games I do, but easy allies fills that gap. More betting specials. There have been a serious drought over the last couple years. I LOVED the audience participation with this last one. Really liked the show on GT where two allies who felt completely differently on a game would talk it out. More spoiler modes and in depth discussion of individual games. More produced videos, like retrospective / game sleuth

Anonymous

Done. I always felt like EZA should gather feedback yearly. It would be cool if there is a video with some of the more interesting responses.

Anonymous

All i want is more multiple people streams. You've got this amazing studio and streaming space and after actually using it quite a lot when you first got in there, it's hardly ever used now. Look at the Eurogamer let's plays of Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 for examples of how good a once per week, 1 hour 30min-2 hour playthrough of a game can be.

Anonymous

More Pc coverage is the big one for me. For example Total war is a massive franchise that never gets touched. Also the revival of 90s style shooters with Dusk, Amid Evil etc. never gets a mention. Maybe you need a new member?

Anonymous

i think a new member is not an option and the fact that easy allies are very much console(and nintendo) focused is well known. I'm a big fan of pc gaming myself but don't think pc coverage would even be a good idea. Brad, Ben and Ian show occasionally love for pc games but in the long run it's just not a field the allies are interested in and pushing them into uncomfortable activities isn't the right way. I know it's frustrating when the allies can quote all speech-bubbles from Ocarina of Times but couldnt tell you what kind of game "Freelancer" is. Easy Allies is just not the place for in depth pc gaming and thats perfectly ok.

Anonymous

It's hard, what could the Allies do to make it feel like a new milestone? Perhaps the only thing I'm expecting is for more people being invited, I don't know how far we are from getting interviews like the ones at the end of Gametrailers but I suppose that could feel like a milestone. I suppose it can be possible to an extent. Another idea could be making a show similar to Reaction shots delving into game genres, maybe highlighting games that are aspirational for those genres. (Coming with new ideas is hard).

Anonymous

I would like to see a series just like brandon plays pokemon -where someone who is a massive franchise fan discusses the journey of someone who has never played to see the contrast. Also Brandon Jones just play SoulSIlver/SIlver GOD DAMMIT (not now obviously, hope everything is going well with your baby and as a father figure to the EZA i'm sure you'll be an amazing father to little Milo Thatch) L&R.

Anonymous

On my tombstone it will say “all I wanted was more consistent, four+ panel spoilermodes”

Anonymous

More: Footage of games, like at least on screen if not just being voiceover'd Less: Just talking while sitting around the desk. I realize not every game will allow fresh footage to be taken, but, for instance, when referencing moments in other games, maybe clips from those so we can get a better sense.

More Kyle, less every one else!

Anonymous

I think after a certain tier it would help to get someone new on board to diversfy the opinions and cut the allies right now some slack.

Anonymous

My requested stretch goal would be for the team to oversee the community in making a game. The community is overflowing with tremendous talent, and I think Glinny's Cauldron shows that they're anxious to combine it in exciting ways. Obviously it would need to be something small and realistic, but I still think we'd be amazed what we could collectively accomplish.

Anonymous

just watch the community showcase and you see how much amazing talent this community has! Great idea.

rkhc

More 2-4 person streams (even at the expense of solo/group streams), more produced content/bits, and while I've heard that Kyle doesn't want to do another Final Bosman, even random top 10s or short, isolated couple-sentence-long takes from him would do. Anything prepared where he gives his opinion on anything, really. Fewer reviews. Seems like an inappropriate misuse of their time/effort to me (from Cup of Jones, I'm under the impression it's by far the most labor intensive bottleneck they have). Labor of love Don't-Skips for only the games they care about and love make a lot more sense for this group's attitude towards games, and in particular it seems backwards that Huber's ample talents are weirdly being used for bias-free critical assessment, by far his weakest ability.

Anonymous

Wonder how many surveys were submitted

Anonymous

Just Finished mine! Thanks so much for including us in the process of helping shape & guide the future of Easy Allies. (Hope this helps!)

I think you should do a game jam every year. Declare a design goal / topic and then give people one month time. (So people don't spend too crazy amounts of time working on them.) It's been a great addition to your live streams, and there isn't really enough time for it on community showcases.
