Better overall Pokemon discussion than I expected considering the hive of negativity around the subject right now, although would've been good to go into how the original Pokemon Snap wasn't originally a Pokemon game at all, and they slapped Pokemon into it to save a failing project that was already heavily invested in. Here's some other additional info about it if you're interested in learning other tidbits about how the project got scraped together from failed ideas: http://lavacutcontent.com/pokemon-snap-scrapped-stages/ Pokemon games are indeed made so every new game can be the introduction to a new generation of fans, which is why we drown in more and more tutorials as time goes on, but I do think (if interviews are to be believed) they attempt to make parts of the games for everyone. Certain NPC dialogue will fly right over kids' heads, whether it to be referencial or more philosophical in nature. Certain designs seem made to appeal to older fans, and it is very clear that "Kanto pandering" to "Genwunners" has been a thing heavily happening since Gen 6, arguably 5 if you consider maybe the mons similar to Gen 1 Pokemon were designed with the thought that older players would love the alternate takes on the older designs, and it just backfired big time to most of them. I don't think anyone should have to hold back their opinions or criticism about something they care about, and I'd personally love to hear more of what Kyle thinks and even loved the part of him cracking up about the creators around Pokemon not doing the same thing twice, given the Pokemon model controversy right now, and how even if GameFreak did remake them from scratch, then they did the same thing twice instead of making clearly new takes on them. Anyways, all I ask is that the criticism is carefully considered, that you think about maybe why things aren't a certain way from other points of view, and stay open to discussion surrounding it, instead of iron clad sticking to what you believe to be the case. There's lots of people right now who just want to be right about what they believe, so they're not even willing to weigh possibilities for why things may be as they are and instead are just lashing out angrily, and I don't think that particular behavior benefits anyone no matter how much the franchise means to an individual and how unhappy they are with the current state of the mainline games. Nobody should be getting harrassed over Twitter over Pokemon discussion, not GameFreak, not community leaders, not people "defending" GameFreak's decisions, and not even the people upset how silly Wingull flying looks in the Wild Area. We can discuss and disagree with one another without that kind of toxic hatred spewing out in the process, and I want people to continue to make noise GameFreak can hear through healthier means of discussion instead of hiding their hottakes away in fear of stirring controversy or inviting harrassment. Getting bullied out of expressing your opinions on the subject just means only the ones doing the bullying will have their thoughts on the situation passed down, picked up, and parroted around, which is both bad for the discussion overall and bad for feedback GameFreak is paying attention to. So tl;dr all I wanted to say is feel free to speak up about how you feel right now about it, just remember to also listen and consider and think yourself about the whys, beyond just assuming they're greedy and lazy, because as dumb as some of the given reasons we've gotten for GameFreak's actions in the past are, (Basculin was created because bass fishing tourneys are popular in New York...) there's usually some line of logic behind every step they take and trip they make.
