Death Stranding is a metaphor about Kojima's life up until the point he started making this game and a bit after. That is then also a metaphor for what is happening to American society. We are all fracturing apart and just getting more closed off and full of hate. He is trying to guide us in America to come together, reject the hate and love and care about others and be free from everything negative in the world. As he is now from going on all the travels he want on after leaving Konami. He came to America and feel in love with the people and our culture. But saw our society and it too him was broken almost beyond repair. And this game is trying to mend our broken society.
