This last season made me so glad it's over now. Forget the White Walkers or the war for the throne season 8 was the worst thing to happend to Westeros. On the bright side maybe it will get the people who were show watchers only to read the books if they ever come out.

Lol hashtag the patriarchy? I love you guys but come on. Such a massive stretch. Also the wheel being broken is completely backwards, when they don’t even let the people vote. Also the message is completely misguided. Damiani gives a whole speech about public service and answering the call of duty when its needed and then stepping down. Jon snows entire plot for the entire series was just that. He didn’t want to rule, but the world was asking him to. He’s a good man, who everyone is drawn to. He always does the right thing. He doesn’t want to rule. But it was his duty to. The fact that they disqualify him because of lineage, is ridiculous. If he’s the right person for the job, the best person to be a fair ruler - he should have been picked. Jon absolutely would have stepped down when it was right to step down. He would have been okay with not passing the crown to his children. There was no reason they couldn’t have changed the rules where they vote on the king , and still let Jon be the king. Hell, the entire story was literally written to support Snow doing just that. George R R martin himself, gave a speech about how subverting expectations when the entire story was built up to be something else - does not work. And that’s what they did with Jon Snow. Also Jon himself said “this doesn’t feel right”. Meaning he didn’t want to go to the North. His ending was truly horrible, and seeing people justify it as being the right thing for him because he was a bastard, is weird. I would argue him being seen as a bastard his whole life, is the exact reason he should be king despite his royal blood. Because he doesn’t see him as a royal. Again, it’s his character and his ability to lead and do the right thing - which is why he was the best candidate. And it’s absolutely ridiculous that Tyrion would put all the weight on Jons shoulder to kill Dany, the one thing no one else wanted to do. And then turn around and recommend Bran, and throw Jon under the bus. Jon essentially frees the kingdoms from an actual tyrant, and did so despite being in love with her. And he gets punished? He’s not allowed to have a wife or kids? Again, this sends an awful message. That just because he was born to something he had no choice in, he should be cast out. He should be disqualified for a job, despite being the best person for it. This is not breaking the wheel. Heredity and lineage is not the problem. It’s that they are given the crown simply because of it. If they are worthy, they should be allowed to be voted in. And the people should be able to vote them out. That is breaking the wheel. And why do the other kingdoms give a damn about what greyworm thinks? He has a rag tag rinky dink kingdom that wouldn’t even last a battle. Him and his army just got done mass murdering women and children. They actually raped women. This was the most people murdered in one place in the history of Westeros. And they care what he thinks? They give in to his demands? And Bran knew the whole time that Dany was gonna mass murder. He knew the whole time, his brother Jon would be punished. He did nothing. Sansa and the rest of his family, are ok with Jon being cast out - and yield to a Man who just got done mass murdering (basically genocide) of kings landing. And they do this to their brother who they love? This is completely out of character for them. Also don’t even get me started on how stupid it was, Sansa asking for independence was. The whole point of the ending was the kingdoms uniting. Literally two of the other kingdoms wanted to be independent in the past. Why would they allow Sansa to go independent? Why wouldn’t all of them just ask for independence at that point? Why should everyone else bend the knee to a king when Sansa gets to rule independent? I get the history of winterfell. I get Sansa character. But with the ending we got, it made zero sense for her to ask for independence and for others to give it. The fate of the realm finding peace and prosperity is literally hanging by a thread with tense talks, and Sansa is going to risk chaos by demanding independence? Really? Lastly, why would the north be okay with their beloved king being imprisoned by mass murdering / genocide psychos? Why would they be okay with their king being banished without a trace and Sansa taking the throne? This whole finale was rushed. The messages were completely muddled. I just have to strongly disagree with you guys on just about everything.

Good points. I agree with you in regards to independence, but not fully about Jon. Sure Jon might have been the most fair and best ruler, but why couldn't that have been the entire point of not giving him that? Everything can't have a happy ending. Politics is awful in life and nobody is perfect. Those who appear to be perfect rarely, if ever get the chance to lead, and when they do, their flaws eventually show. As to them disqualifying him because of linage, I absolutely didn't see it that way. First of all, the wheel was broken. They chose someone disregarding the previous way of doing things. Bran not being able to have kids and all. They would have chosen Jon if it was only that easy... A big part of Dany finally snapping was because she thought she had the best claim to the throne, until she learned that Jon was the rightful heir. Ignoring the flaws of Greyworm asking the council what to do with Tyrion (let alone everyone somehow allowing him to speak and convince everybody): I don't think his reasons for not suggesting Jon was that he was a bastard, but rather that it would have been too tumultuous, as at least Yara and Greyworm still supported Dany. Putting Jon on the throne after he killed her would have only led to more conflict and leaving him to make those bad decisions he was trying to avoid. He was so close to letting Dany rule even after what she did. Tyrion knew Jon didn't trust himself to keep always choosing the right thing. That's the way I see it. Imperfect, as most things... Tons of minor and decent sized plot holes to complain about, but after all, how we left the land and the people overall was pretty good.

I was going off what the Allies were saying. They seemed to imply that the wheel was broken simply by ending ruling by lineage. My point was, it wasnt lineage and herdity that was the problem. It was that they used to give people power, simply because they were born with it. In the new system where they vote for the king, there is no problem with Voting Jon in, despite his lineage. If he rules and then steps down - or more importantly, they no longer allow the crown to pass on to the kings children (and its always decided by a vote) - then there is no issue with Jon ruling. But again I’m responding to what the allies said. As far as Yara and Greyworm..who cares. I mean Yara I guess. But Greyworm literally just got done committing genocide. His army killed innocent women and Children. They raped women. Why should any of them care what he thinks, or demands. Let alone, why should the starks care? Especially when hes demanding their Brother be banished for life. They wouldnt last a single battle, if the other kingdoms shut him down. Which they should have. The only point I agree with you on, is Yara. But I’m fairly certain if all the other kingdoms agreed Jon was the best, they would at least have a debate about it. Jon is far more compelling than Bran, or anyone else that was suggested. Even if there is complications for Greyworm, and Yara, as opposed to everyone else.

Completely agree and then some. I can't help but feel when people try to rationalize it was good that it's more to try to make themselves believe they haven't wasted 10 years on the show just to get this hot garbage. It was bad and it's going to take time and distance for some people to truly reconcile with that.
