Hi everyone!  I'm still out of town and so this month's guest host will be Godzilla expert Sofia Hariz!

There's a new Godzilla movie on the horizon and it looks pretty sweet, so lets talk about everybody's favorite monster for a hot minute.

What is it about Godzilla that you love, and what Godzilla movie is your favorite?

How many times did you watch the trailers for Godzilla: King of the Monsters – and, more importantly, how many times did you cry?

Do you have a favorite Kaiju, and what is it about them that you like so much?

If you’re new to Godzilla or aren’t too engaged in the universe- what movie(s) did you see and how did you feel about it/them? (Sidenote from Sofia – you’re allowed to like the 1998 Godzilla. I know I do!)

What is the historical importance of the Godzilla films?

How are Godzilla films thematically different from other monster movies like Alien or Jurassic Park?

We’re gonna briefly discuss how some movies, especially horror and monster-flicks, reflect issues and fears we currently see in the world (for example: zombie films = fear of social media/internet making us “braindead”, home invasion movies = lack of trust in government etc.). How do you feel today’s Godzilla, alongside recent monsters like those in Pacific Rim, King Kong, Jurassic World etc. may reflect that? Do you think they are representations of something, or is it simply a trend, like vampires were for example
(or even dinosaur movies in the ‘90s)?

Do you think given Godzilla’s past historical importance that it separates itself from similar movie monsters? Why/Why not?
