Hi everyone,

We don't normally do Frame Trap question submissions this way, but considering Maximilian Dood will be on the next episode, I thought it'd be wise to have a more formal question submission process. If you have any questions you'd like to ask Max or you think would be particularly relevant to the panel of me, Kyle, and Max, please do so here. Try to keep them as short as possible if you can. Thank you!

-Ben

As a person that just can't get on with fighting games I have to ask is there some kind of trick to or bump I have to get past to get on with them? I think it has something to do with the 2D nature of these games, as I do love the Yakuza games which are 3D brawlers. I tried Street Fighter, and I just never got it, and the combos were hard to memorise.

Favorite cheese attack in a fighting game? Mine is Sheeva down-up stomp attack from Mortal Kombat 3 (I think).

what do you guys think about that it will cost 6440€ to buy every skin in mk11? (reddit)

It's not a question, but I would like to see Kyle defend FF9 over FF7 ( Max's favorite game of all time )

Killer Instinct (for Xbox One and PC) had solid netcode, was well-balanced, had regular content updates and even made to to Evo – but it still never really caught on. Why do you think that was? What are the biggest factors in a game being adopted or dropped by the FGC?

Hello loved and well respected allies! Let’s dive right into the question burning in my heart. I’d like to know, if you were a robot what would you look like? What would your job be? Would you have any special moves or abilities? I have to know. Thanks much!

Do you guys feel like fighting games have two phases; initial release, and eventual discovery of exploits. My mind thinks of Smash Bros Melee and how it was played very differently compared to how it is played today. #loveandrespect

With Mortal Kombat 9 and 11 being such a success, would you guys consider it the greatest fighting franchise of all time?

Anonymous

P.S. No restrictions beyond your imaginations whatsoever

Not a real question just a hype level on Persona 5 Royal and what you want in the P5 fighting that ark systemworks game that might come out in the future?

I've been playing through Mass Effect Andromeda lately and been having a great time it. Whether all the bugs have just been ironed out or it's just the kind of game I enjoy, I don't know. Have you ever not played a game on release due to negative buzz only to later try it out and really enjoy it?

How do you guys (Max especially) find the time to excel at multiple fighting games? Between Guilty Gear, SFV, Third Strike, and Tekken I feel stretched thin and like I need to pick one and strap down. I mostly only play fighting games and I still feel I'm not focusing on one enough. Should I just be playing whatever I'm feeling at the moment, or will that hold me back from being good at one specifically? Thanks for reading this if you do and Love and Respect!!

What's a fighting game that you feel deserved a better chance at success? Maybe it was due to a rushed development, poor release timing, lack of support etc.

Anonymous

How do both you and Max feel about the recent trends in monetization for fighting games. I personally refunded my copy of MK11 because of the way WB and Nether Realm had designed the loot grind and in-game economy.

Is sekiro the hardest fighting game? For real though how does your audience react when you branch out to non fighting games? Are they excited or do they reject change?

What Capcom game would you like to see get the REmake treatment next?

Anonymous

Capcom has seen a renaissance recently with their single player titles, however the same has not yet spread to their fighting games. What do you think Capcom needs to do in order to get back on track and have the reputation of their fighting games return to their former glory?

The DLC kombatants have been potentially leaked through a datamine. If you have read the leaked list, I'd like you all to quickly, without spoilers, give it a rating from 1 to 11. 1 being greatly dislike, 11 being greatly like, and 6 being neutral/haven't seen it. And before Kyle thinks I'm being too cute by using 11, it's because it needs to be an odd number so 10 wouldn't work. Also, I am cute.

Hello everyone! Finding the time to try old things Whenever you find you have the time to play something for yourself and not do so just to cover it, do you tend to give games that passed you by a try, or with new games always coming out, do you prefer to keep up with the tastes of today? Personally, after going through Days Gone, I'm looking forward to playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for the first time leading up to E3. Thanks for taking my question if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!

How much of a baseline do viewers need to enjoy watching eSports? Even as someone who plays Overwatch religiously and watches tons of videos dedicated to strategies, it's sometimes tough to follow exactly what's happening in a live game between two well-oiled professional teams, so I can't imagine what it's like to watch for someone who normally plays more traditional shooters like CS: GO, or even worse someone who doesn't play videogames at all.

Do you think there will be a Soul Caliber 7 as in an interview at Gamescom, SoulCalibur VI’s producer, Motohiro Okubo, said that getting to make the game in the first place was a struggle, but if it underperforms in terms of sales, the series as a whole could suffer as a result. He mentioned if sales are poor, it could spell the end of the series. Sales were reported to be up from Soulcalibur V and compared to Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur and Soul Blade, but still lower than Soulcalibur II and Soulcalibur IV. Also what do you think would be necessary for the series to stay alive (gameplay changes, online, cuztomization, Nintendo Switch port with Link or other Nintendo guest characters ). Thx

Hi all, Question for Max: Can you explain the fun of Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid to the Allies, and whether or not it is actually worth the either $20 or $40 price tag?

Anonymous

Hello panel! How do you go about finding your best or favorite character in a fighting game? Is playing and learning every character in a game a waste of time or is it the only way to figure it out? Let me tell ya, playing through classic mode in Smash Ultimate took some time.

Anonymous

What was the game that first got you into the fighting game genre?

What are Max's general impressions of Joker and Mementos being added to Smash? Is his non-familiarity with Persona make the first challenger pack boring or trivial compared to someone more attached to the source material like Ben?

What was your first reaction to the first time you saw moment 37??

With the recent debucle of sekiro being considered the hardest game. Wouldn't you think fighting games such as mortal kombat deserve the same critisism. Just like sekiro mortal Kombat takes dozens of hours to learn and not everyone can perform a decent combo. Why is it okay for people to critisise sekiro for its difficult learning curve but not not treat fighting games with the same regards. In fact people are praised for their fighting skills. Just wanted to know your thought and as always L&R from the salamander

Hey Ben, Kyle & Max, I hope you're all doing well. Now that Sekiro is out, are there any other genres that you would like to see From Software tackle under Miyazaki's direction? Personally, I would love to see them make a survival horror game but I also want to hear your thoughts. Love & Respect, Dan

Do you think we will ever see a new release of Marvel vs Capcom 2? It is my favourite fighting game. I would love to see it released on PC, or at least modern consoles so I don't have to go back to my Xbox 360 and purchase Xbox Live just to play that game with my friend online. -Devin

What do you think about the current state of YouTube and Twitch? Do you think that the future of this kind of content will still be on these platforms?

Star Tsurugi

Max, at what point in your youtube career did you start getting official review copies?

Anonymous

Max, how did your relationship with Killer Instinct change going from a fan of the series to actively working on the project? Did you enjoy having your fingerprints on it? Did your enthusiasm change after it became more of a product to sell instead of a game to play?

One of the greatest YouTube reactions was Max when Cloud was announced for Smash. The "I recognise the music but what this implies is impossible" expression was so genuine, as was the sheer joy once Cloud walked on to screen. Max, is there any character left that would have you similarly blown away? Same question to Ben and Kyle.

A simple question for Max, will Benny be at EVO this year ?

Anonymous

Greetings Ben, Kyle and Max. I was wondering if you guys and talk about the recent resurgence Capcom has had over the last few years. Where was it do you personally feel their fall from grace came from in the first place and what steps do you think Capcom can do now to maintain their current momentum? Max I'm a huge fan of your channel and you've inspired me to finally go to EVO this year. Hope to see you and the Yo! VideoGames crew there.

What guest character(s) do you want to be in Granblue Fantasy Versus ?

With only 1 more mystery character left in the Dragonball FighterZ season 2 pass, who do you guys think it'll be? And what are you hoping for next year for DBFZ? A new season of characters, DBFZ2 or a GG Xrd Rev 2 style upgrade?

Hey Ben, Kyle, and Dood. I love fighting games. Even though I'm not the best player, I get so much joy out of grinding in the lab, learning the mind games, slowly improving, and eventually becoming decent. The problem is, none of my friends share this love of fighting games because they are not willing to put any practice time in. I know that fighting games are not for everyone, but it seems like most people reject fighting games before they truly know whether or not they would enjoy them because they aren't willing to move past the button-mashing phase. What do you think is the best way for me to show them that fighting games are not as scary as they seem? Love and Respect, and Shine On! - Max A

Hey guys, I've always loved fighting games, but somehow never dove deep into the Soulcalibur series until 6. I think it's a great fighting game in a lot of ways, however, it doesn't seem to get much love lately. I suspect that claims of the game being dead are exaggerated, but do you guys think Bandai Namco or the SC6 community can do something to garner more attention from the FGC and beyond in a genre that is currently full of quality titles? L&R

Hey guys, what do you think Capcom's next fighting game will be? I'd personally love a new Pocket Fighter as the original is one of my favourites

Anonymous

Do you guys have any weird video game memorabilia you’re especially proud of after being fans of games and in the industry for this long? (For example in Max’s case I know fighting games generally have a lot of statues and figures made) Thanks! So excited for this episode! L&R

Please do it always this way. I always have ideas for a submission and then forget to go to a frametrap video and skip to the end to search for that gmail address.

During the PS1 to Dreamcast to PS2 era the Namco titles from the Tekken and Soul Calibur series consistently had the highest budgets and world class production values while Mortal Kombat always felt cheeper in comparison during that era. Fast forward 15 years from now and the roles have been completely reversed. Back then an upcoming Tekken game would have the same hype and fanfare a Resident Evil title. Today, Mortal Kombat now occupies that throne among traditional health bar 1v1 fighting games and the sales data reflect this. My question is: What happened? Why did Namco cheap out on their successful IPs while NRS triple downed and rose from the ashes of their PS2 gen failures? L&R Ammar

In the current day market, fighting games and character DLC packs have become highly integrated with each other. Personally, I believe that it's causing a separation in the community. Not everyone can afford the base game and the DLC packs, and having the availability of all characters is essential, if you want to be current and valid in the competitive scene. How do you guys feel about the cost of fighting games, add-ons, and potential separation of the player base?<br> <br> L&amp;R,<br> Ania

Hello Allies + Max, I have a short and sweet question for Max: what is your current assessment of SFV? I personally think Capcom has brought it a long way to being what I believe is on par with fans' expectations of the series. (Albeit through multiple season passes that cost money or insane amounts of in-game currency). Basically, I regularly play SfV and love it, I personally think it's the best fighter on the market right now, yet the games press at large still seems to consider it a blunder, which seems to affect prospective players' interest. What would you say about the current state of SFV, given the other fighters that are available right now, and what would you like to see SF6 accomplish?

Hey Max and Allies. NertherRealm's games are increasingly seen as the genre benchmark for single-player content in fighting games for understandable reasons. However, it has been a bit frustrating to see story modes become the be-all end-all of single-player fighting game content among generalist video game coverage, especially when other studios can't even come close to NetherRealm's production values and try to put together story modes on a shoe string budget. Personally I think things like Quest mode from later Virtua Figher games hold a lot more value both in terms of sheer playing time and imparting its mechanics to casual players. Thoughts/any ideas how the genre can expand the single player value of these titles beyond story modes?

Hello Max and Allies. What are your thoughts on the future of Street Fighter? Do you have any expectations for a hypothetical Street Fighter VI?

Howdy Max &amp; Allies – In the past, game rewards &amp; unlocks took hours, maybe days with dedicated gaming time. Now they may take months/years of your time, unless you drop real money to unlock it all. Maybe it’s the completionist in me, but it irritates me that there is always something missing when playing a live service game. For example, that sweet character skin you crave may be locked behind a random chance box you may never see. Do you all feel the same way or do you appreciate there is always a carrot on the stick when playing these games? L&amp;R - Rammer

Hello Max &amp; Fellow Allies/Doods. With the many accolades Devil May Cry 5 has been receiving since its release, many people have loved the gameplay this title in the series has provided. The stylish moves, satisfying pay off to combat, the many different ways to take on enemies, the overwhelming replay value, and the need to always try to get that SSS, are just a few things this title does so well. Aside from the eventual release of Bayonetta 3, what are some things that other future hack 'n' slash action titles can learn from what Devil May Cry 5 gave us in the gameplay department?
