It's EZ to Like Anime Ep 2 - Patron Q&A (Patreon)

How's it going? The next episode of It's EZ to Like Anime is currently scheduled for 9:30pm PT, and this time I would like to have some Patron Q&A. Questions should be about either the previous episode (something we did not talk about that you want us to discuss), the most recent episode (I will be pulling these questions after we watch the episode so you will have time), or about the One Punch Man anime.

Additionally, after talking with Ian, it is not current possible to stream from the studio yet using the setup we have (we need a few more things to make that possible). As a compromise, I'm going to bring in a table to the stream room and place mics on it for us to use to improve the sound quality. I'm not entirely sure how the shot will look with this, but I would like to try it out to see how it looks/sounds and then let your feedback help shape the final approach.

We are also still waiting on the final graphics. If you didn't catch the explanation for what's going on, essentially the original pitch for this show was to have it cover Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2 at the end of this month. That is the time table I originally provided, and then I found out that getting three of us together for that show was going to be more difficult and more of a burden than if we did something else like One Punch Man Season 2.

As a result, we started the show without having final graphics or a logo. They are still in progress, but they are coming soon. This will also affect the thumbnails for now -- they are just placeholders that I will go back and update once we have the final logo.

Finally, after we watch the episode, I will try to make clips of certain parts to show during our discussions. I apologize in advance if it ever looks like I am not paying attention to the conversation because I have to also direct the stream as well from the couch, though in the future it may be possible we have a 4th person stick around to handle that.

Greetings Allies, King was a big focus this last episode so do you think he will be be part of the main cast? Great job so far I’m looking forward your reactions.

Hi Allies! I have to say Im very dissapointed with this new season, the animation has went from absolute SSS tier to B tier at best and this is scarier since the first 3 episodes is where anime studios drop all their money. Do you think it will have an impact on your overall enjoyement of the series? For me it sure does.

While there may not be a show every single season that you want to cover, there are a few planned shows that you might want to consider covering in the future. Pluto - Naoki Urasawa (the mangaka of Monster) retells a story arc from the original Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka, changing the protagonist to the detective Gesicht. It is a more mature take on the original story arc. Re:Zero S2 - This would require watching season 1, but it's well worth it. Probably one of the best series for weekly discussion streams possible. Vinland Saga - the anime adaption of a great Viking manga.

Hi Allies, my question is one concerning audience expectations versus actuality for the main character Saitama. and the many conversations that say they would him to turn into more traditional Shonen battle protaganist. Saitama is a parody, he is supposed to be that main character at the end of whatever anime/manga series or RPG where they've defeated whatever version of the Demon King or God or other ultimate being that's always the final boss and now their journeys over and the credits have rolled. What people are looking for is shown in the shows supporting cast like Genos or Mumen Rider. They are were you'll get your training montage's, power boosts or tooth and nail fights giving everything they've got. You won't get this with Saitama unless it's for laughs because that's the gag. And even though the fight scenes are great and the animation can be top notch comedy and parody are the main elements of the series. Do you think those looking for this are just setting themselves up for disappointment?

Genos and Sonic has oposing relationships whith Saitama, one as a "student" and the other as a "rival". What whould you like to see in an interaction between Genos and Sonic?

From Madhouse to JC Staff, One Punch Man, for better or worse, has switched to a new studio with this season giving off a very different result. Similar to the game industry, do you guys take particular stances/expectations towards certain animation studios? What's the Naughty Dog and EA of the anime industry?

I was surprised to hear people wanting a nerf or debuff of Saitama because I think the core of the series both thematically and emotionally is existential boredom. The reason One Punch Man is interesting is BECAUSE he’s so powerful and STILL isn’t happy. It doesn’t matter how much “power” we have in life, we’re all still searching for a purpose or happiness. Do you think One Punch Man is particularly prescient in the modern era in which society and culture puts heroes up on a pedestal? Thanks. L&R

I love One Punch Man's ability to build its universe through its very unique characters and others that parody and spoof well known genre tropes and archetypes. Even B and C rank heroes and low level mysterious beings are given life through interesting and funny designs and powers. For example, Ground Dragon (just a mole) and Fish of Darkness, a dude in BDSM gear with a half fish head who shoots eggs from his mouth sticks with me. My question is, who is each of your favourite minor heroes and mysterious beings?
