It seems like YouTube is functioning properly this week, and Patreon just got a new redesign. Never a dull moment when you're creating things on the internet. After an insanely busy week, I was happy to find a relatively short number of business and personal questions for this Monday's Cup. We have some fun stuff to talk about as we get closer to our anniversary, but nothing earth-shattering today. So to make up for a lack of raw updates, I will prove to you before this episode is over, why I'm not a graphic designer.

Mr. Jones. This is gonna be a 2 part, just because I'd like you to not take fun into consideration, just the man hour it takes to prepare the show. Now that the community showcase has morphed into its final 3 hour + form; how is the workload it takes compared to its previous form of a produced video? And now that we are over with work, which version you prefer regardless? I'm guess this never format since you get to interact with a fellow ally and chat, and that sounds way more fun than being in the man cave for hours finding and fitting B roll into a lot of comments.

Hey Jones. I have an idea for a marathon that EZA could run on the twitch channel. A Frame Trap marathon. Currently, the run time of all existing Frame Trap episodes is about 9 days or so, and taking breaks for scheduled streams might push it towards 10 days. This marathon could even be done yearly and/or framed as a fundraiser of sorts. Ignoring any potential concerns technically with setting up the stream and keeping it running, is this something that you'd be interested in doing? Also, one nitpick with the monthly Q&A that I'd like to bring up. The last Q&A started promptly at noon, but the patreon post went up at noon as well, the same exact time as the stream when the stream started. Please, for the sake of your live audience of your $20+ tier show, post the YouTube link before you formally start the stream.

Not really a question, so no need to read it out. Please don't disclose the cost of the studio and such. It will only open more questions from people picking at it all. No good can come from it

So in my previous Patreon Q&A, I asked about different open world environments, I saw you agreeing when I said that the martial arts in Sleeping Dogs was better than shooting 100 people. It made me wonder, what is your favourite combat system, or even better what would be your ideal combat system within an open world game? What sort of mechanics would it have, would it have a difficulty setting, a choice in how you approach it akin to Deus Ex?

I absolutely agree, I think most people asking probably have an ulterior motive to nit pick or criticise. It would be alright if most of the criticism would be constructive, but unfortunately I already know most of it won't be.

Hey Mr. Jones! I have a technical suggestion, or probably to put it a better way, a technical what-if regarding the studio light bar on the back wall. During the main podcast a couple weeks ago, the back flickered on and off a little more frequently than I’ve seen, so I was wondering: Do you think it would be best just to have the entire light set up stay off until a solution can be found, or is the lighting too complicated or intrinsic with the rest of the studio lighting to keep this suggestion from being feasible? I know this is one of the most notable issues since the move-in you all are dealing with but wanted to throw out my two cents. Thanks again for taking my question, have a wonderful rest of your day, and an early Happy EZAnniversary! Cheers!

Jones thanks for taking my question again dude.

Hi Jones, An easy trio this week. Here's some Andrew Lloyd Webber: - Evita - Cats - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor(R) Dreamcoat PS - In case you haven't been told yet, the name of the TV producer your were trying to remember on the podcast was Norman Lear. (Another link that doesn't need to read out. I don't know if you are aware of the charity celebrity episodes of The Great British Baking Show/Bake Off. If not, here's one with Michael Sheen, Jameela Jamil, comedian David Mitchell, and Sarah Brown (wife of former UK Prime Minister Gordon): <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycD4bp1aew." rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycD4bp1aew.</a> In particular, Michael Sheen does something that I have never seen someone attempt before in my life.)

Hey, Jones. Do you or the other allies ever feel burnt out with the weekly group streams, or at least just don't feel like doing it every once in awhile? Just curious how you or the others get past that feeling and push through when there's a scheduled thing that happens every single week at a specific time, and you have to put on a public face for two hours. L&amp;R, Josh Read.

Hello!!! Ben recently did an interview. I really really enjoyed it. What is needed for you guys to keep doing this ? I'd love more of these!

I have a suggestion for Community Showcase submission process. When you grab our posts for the Showcase you can reply with a simple "got it" message. This will give us an opportunity to tell you about submission that were mistakenly skipped or deleted by Patreon before the Showcase. I know that it's an extra work, but this should help make the Showcase a better and smoother experience.

Hey Brandon you mentioned possibly coming to Michigan if you ever get the chance to go to the midwest. I would love to see you guys in Grand Rapids or even Lansing. L&amp;R from a long time fan.

Hey Jones, a question about the 58K guest show goal. Will you always be the host of that show or will other allies host on occasion as well? I'm asking because of Huber and Bens recent interviews as well as interviews that other allies have done in the past being really fun to watch.

Hey Jones, Haven’t listened in a while, so I don’t know if anyone has asked you this. What is your opinion about sex and violence in games? DMC5 received a a patch on PS4 to cover up Trish’s butt with a lens flare. Now, it’s only a butt. Nothing else. And Trish isn’t an underage girl. I find it hard to believe that a woman’s butt requires a patch. When in games like GTA and the Witcher, though releases in 2013 and 2015(2016?), isn’t getting their cracks patched. It seems like, only Japanese games are being edited for “sexy” content. Yet, games like Mortal Kombat 11 is perfectly 100% fine. Even Evo is ok with MK11, but not Dead or Alive. I find it baffling that has graphics get better, violence is more gratuitous, but you can’t show any nudity. My question may be a little vague and I don’t know if you are sure what to answer exactly. Just your thoughts on the examples I made. Or maybe, you don’t have an opinion at all because you don’t think about it.

Hi Jones, How would you feel about giving the community at large an avenue to provide scenes for you to put into the stream stage windows? I'm sure yall have already gathered some scenes from your favorite landscapes, but I am also sure that the community could find some awesome and interesting places to showcase there as well. If you're open to the idea, I assume all we would need would be info such as preferred resolution, file type, file size limit if there is one, and preferred way to submit like a youtube link (if you can rip it in the proper format/resolution) or some other way to get it to you. Just a thought I had as it would give some additional variety to that cool set piece as well as get some more of that community involvement in some small degree. Thanks!

Hi Mr. Jones – I just wanted your take on some general advice I wanted to share with you if possible. I think it’s safe to say people generally do not like being told how to think or be “preached” on certain subjects. Even now as I give you advice, you may not agree with what I say &amp; that’s ok! I believe you guys do a great job of achieving this by commonly asking open ended questions to your community such as “what do you guys think?” This can really help encourage differing opinions in a constructive manner if they wish to on a separate board. We can still have an opinion on a serious subject, but also hand it off to the community. I'm reminded of how comedy can be a great escape to injustices in our world. It doesn't fix our issues, but it helps us cope with them which i think is still valuable. These are the reasons I generally enjoy more of your lighthearted subject manner and prefer that because these subjects get less heated than your more heavier stories, but I also understand if an Ally may feel strongly and want to share their opinion to the public. I hope you guys will continue with the jolly vibes we all know and love. What to do you think Jones? Hopefully I brought some light to what makes you guys great and what you can continue to do! @Brandon Jones, if you do get a printer I recommend you get a Laser printer. Absolutely avoid anything based on (inkjet / bubblejet / wet ink) technology. Because Inkjet uses a wet ink, it can't sit idle for any length of time. Inkjet only becomes cost effective when you use it every single day. If you leave an inkjet printer sitting unused for more than a week your print heads will clog and your image qualify will continuously degrade until you replace the entire head. Laser on the other hand can sit for months unused and it'll work perfectly for you when you do need it. Dye Sublimation or Silver Halide printers can work okay but those cost a Lot more than laser. I also recommend you get one with built in wireless networking so you can print to it from any machine on your network without having to run wiring. Go to newegg.com and bring up a list of all color laser printers sorted by Best Reviews. That should help you pick one that's more likely to last.

Hey Jones! For some reason I thought Cup of Jones questions required a higher tier than I had, but now that I know better, I figured I'd give you an excuse to talk about Disneyland. Over my lifetime, I've been to Disneyland probably around a dozen times, (living out of state but on the West Coast), and it's easily my favorite place to visit. I was curious what it was like as a local, growing up with the park so close by. Did your school do a Grad Night there? Did you ever consider working at the park? Was it the kind of place you'd consider just going on a date or to hang out (assuming you had an annual pass)? Also, as most people probably wrongly consider it on the same level as any other theme park, I was wondering what your favorite little things were about the park that make it special to you. Any cool little tucked away corners you're fond of (RIP Court of Angels access), or a cool little background detail that would otherwise go unnoticed? Continued congrats on the studio, and keep up the great work! L&amp;R, Charlie P.S. My wife says hi to Sophie

Mr. Jones, You may not want to hear this, but it is a lot of fun when Amanda crashes the stream. Would you be open to Amanda standby questions? These would only get used if Amanda shows up and could be limited to 3 of your choice so it is not too much of a distraction. Are you big enough to share the spotlight if it is what the audience wants? If the answer is a hard no, please let us know. If it can't be done with you Brandon, It would be great to get an interview of Amanda with Huber or Ian. Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

Hi Jones, Was your comment "To make a long story short, too late" a reference to Clue? If so, do you think that a movie could pull off sending different endings to different theaters in an age so interconected via the internet? If not,(and even if it was, please read this anyways, on account of it being a great movie) you should really watch it, as it's a great example of an adaptation of an entirely different medium, for me only rivaled with things such as Batman TAS or the LotR movies, though arguably more impressive given how much less structured a game of Clue is than any authored medium. L&amp;R, Joe

Hi Brandon! I love everything the allies do, don't get me wrong, but I think that Single Player games are probably not the best choice for the group stream. Even if DMC5 was the "release of the week", we will most likely have many streams from that game from the other allies, so I'm not sure if it was the best game to play on your group stream night. I know you guys don't want to go back to the patron vote (and I totally understand why), but from that era, you might have noticed that what your patrons were voting on and what they want to see is the Allies interacting with each others with either multiplayer games or funny concepts like Fancy Fifteen and Don's design. I was wondering if you guys were considering that when you make the choice of the game to be played.

Hey Jones, I noticed that Easy Allies really don’t have a presence on Instagram, as far as I know only Brad uses it. I know you can’t speak for the rest of the allies but why don’t you or the EZA company have an account? It seems like EZA are missing out on being on one of the biggest social media platforms. Also, when you say we should watch live to see the chat there’s actually a way to see in the upload. It’s done by tapping ‘live chat’ next to the dislike button which shows chat running alongside the video.

E-vAn de Were-gee(think Bee Gees)-foss (Honestly, don’t worry too much about the name, it’s unusual even in its country of origin!) Happy St. Patrick’s weekend from the Emerald Isle! I used to love getting collector editions &amp; game guides that had physical versions of the maps to put up on my walls at home. Given your love of open world games, do you have a favourite in game world map? Do you have any up on your walls at home or is there one you would put up? L&amp;R

Hey Jones appreciate the response for Days Gone, I had made that comment before the preview went up so I got most of your thoughts from there but appreciated you talking about the zombies/freakers ideology. Now I’d like your thoughts about a game I just picked up again recently in hope of giving it a critical analysis. GTA 5. I originally played this on the 360 back when it came out and played through the campaign about 3 times. Playing it now for the first time on current gen consoles the visual fidelity is a huge positive. But the game still falls frustratingly short for me. The 3 main characters are pretty well drawn and have the most nuance (Trevor less so) but the writing consistently lets them down. The game tries hard to be this big joke and also tries too hard to pander to 13 year olds. 9 out of 10 of the jokes in any given moment are low hanging fruit with only nuggets of clever satire coming through once in awhile. The games story had so much potential but consistently gets undercut by the games inability to surround its main cast with actual characters and make the 3 leads not spout their characters traits bald faced. I still find the game fun however as I stated above this is my 4th time playing the game I just wish that it would have been a more complete package like the first and second Red Dead with a more serious story (that can still be funny) and fun gameplay. How do you feel about GTA 5 and it’s place between RDR 1 &amp; 2?

Hey Jones, wanted to know if you have a regular schedule for recording Trailer Jones or if it's the sort of thing that can only be recorded when there's time. Also, how do you pick the trailers you're going to review and does this influence the guests you have on? L&amp;R Hope you take a look at the Mortal Kombat 11 story trailer and/or the Aladdin trailer.

Hey just wondering if planning has begun for this year’s Easy Livin’? For instance will you be returning to a previous location or will we see a brand new place? I loved the house tour Ian did so looking forward to the next one. Also do you have any ideas as to which games will be played? I know it’s early and the concert is in full focus now, but I’m just curious. L ‘n’ R Oh and here’s how to pronounce my last name if you want: Lil - like you would imagine Je - like yen Gren - with a very nasal E. Like the game Fe. It means Lillybranch in Swedish, if you’re wondering.

Disney animated movies are famously inspired by different cultural folk tales and stories. Beauty and the Beast is French, Aladdin comes from 1001 Arabian Nights, and Pinocchio has its roots in Italy. What are some stories they haven't explored you'd like to see new properties based on, or some cultures they haven't yet delved into you'd like a new animated project based on? This question was originally a hot take about Disney misusing their talent to capitalize on remakes and sequels rather than new creative projects. I wanted to steer away from bitter feelings though. While it's frustrating for me, I'm still pretty certain Frozen 2 will be the highest grossing animated movie of all time when it releases so I can't argue their feduciary methods. Personally I loved Coco and Brave (both also arguably Pixar properties) for allowing insight into the cultures themselves, and in honor of St. Patrick's Day, I'd love to see Disney explore an Irish folk tale.

Hey Jones, I was looking through some of the GT archives on YouTube and I was wondering: have the Easy Allies ever discussed doing a successor to GT News? If yes, what did everyone think about it? If not, is it something you guys would consider doing? L&amp;R, Kyle

MaxVSTheGames

Hi Brandon! Second question, not sure if this is allowed (if it's not, ignore it, I guess). You mentionned that for Full Playthrough Friday, you would be trying to have games that can be completed in one sitting, like 6-8 hours. Does that mean that if you play a much longer game, you would play it in 6 to 8 hours chunks?

Anonymous

If you lose the Kingdom Hearts bet, I suggest going with a "dramatic reinterpretation" of the scene (think, like a soap opera). At any rate the potential scope should expand to previous games, as that's where the ridiculous nonsense really shines. The first hour of KH3 is pretty tame. I'm sure patrons will have no problem submitting possible scenes on Youtube to you if you don't want to play a lot to find them.

Greetings and salutations Jones :), What are your top 3 food cuisines?

Hi Jones, about what you said about reviews being a pillar of support for the game industry, that made me think, why are video game reviews the only reviews I pay attention to? I watch movies and tv shows just as much. My conclusion is the interactive nature of games makes it more personal to us and on a less intimate level games are expensive. Not saying other reviews don’t have purpose but that’s just my opinion. How do you feel about this?

Hey Jones, What are some recent JRPGs that you have really enjoyed? I had a lot of fun completing Dragon Quest XI and it had me wondering what else you would personally recommend to play next that would scratch that itch.

Hey Jones, Thanks for your response to my question, always appreciate your honesty. You brought up a couple points I had not thought about in regards to disclosing costs with you are right that you dont have ownership and it is a shared decision between all the allies. Also I didnt think about how if you do disclose costs, it would open a can of worms of people picking things apart and totally get that issue. I would just take the information as is and move on but didnt think about others picking your costs apart. As for my question this week, it is a personal one. I know you are mega Disney fan and go to the park every now and again. As an annual pass holder myself, I was just curious if there would ever be an opportunity if we were both at the park at the same time we could meet up and go on ride together? Not sure how you feel about that but thought I would ask. And if you were down to go on a ride what is the best way to reach out? I dont do twitter so would email suffice? Thanks, Chris Eyerly

Hi Jones, the other day you were talking about podcasts that you listen, is there any horror podcast in particular that you recommend? I would recommend The Magnus Archive to anyone interested, great writing and great acting, later the stories start to connect becoming something really good.

Hi jones, given the tragedy that unfolded in New Zealand and how the perpetrators utilised 8chan as their main base of operation - and how that site is now heavily celebrating the attack that occurred - is there any chance that this will come up in the discussions between Blood and Bosman in regards to how to treat THQ? 8chan is now in the forefront of the news again, and yet we still are unaware of whether or not the THQ AMA pr staff have been reprimanded. Once again, there is literally no way to go to 8chan without knowing what it’s for and what content is found there, and once again there is zero doubt that the pr staff knew exactly what they were doing. Hope that wasn’t too heavy or anything, it’s a bit of a downer time being an Australian in aus and seeing all this build up - but damn those eggboi memes are pretty good at cheering me up!

Hi Jones, I'm lucky enough to be able to have youtube playing in the background at my job, so I can watch podcasts or your youtube live streams. But our network blocks twitch, so I can't watch any of those streams until they're posted on youtube. Youtube streams are also more work friendly because I can pause the stream and continue where I left off at any time. Is there any way some of the streams could be simulcast on youtube? The weekly group streams are a big deal to me because they don't have spoilers, but being able to watch your reaction streams at work would be great.

Good Day Jones, I hope that you have a good week, and that Monster Mash goes well this weekend. I have a superfluous question Would you consider yourself a homebody. Are you the type of person who would prefer to be left alone to play games all day. The type who prefers to go out and do things rather than staying home, or a combination of A and B. Also I can say that anything over 1200 on a SAT is very good, especially back before they changed the scoring.

Hi, Jones. You always talk about Disney, but as far as I know, you never mentioned where this love with Disney's works came from. I'm talking about "Brandon Jone's love with Disney" origins story. So could you please talk a bit about your first experience(s) with Disney, if you remember? What made you fall in love with it? When you realized that you loved Disney? How did your family react to your love of Disney - specially since Disney's trips and products are very expensive? Did your love for Disney rub off on them? And finally, what's your most precious childhood Disney memory? Have a very wonderful Sekiro week! L &amp; R

Hello Jones, Blood and Amanda! I'm writing to you about Full Playthrough Friday. Before we hit the goal, I always assumed it would be every Friday, not just once a month. I guess that I thought so because of the Weekday in the title. When I later found out that it's monthly, I could accept that easily and I still was happy. More EZA content - how can you complain? But as the weeks went on, that little thought in the back of my head that is saying "weekly would be better" started to grow and gain attention. I guess that I would just be a big fan of asking myself "Okay, what is going on today?Wait a minute ... It's Friday! Full playthrough, baby! ". Instead it will be "Oh yeah! It's Friday! Maybe there is a Full playthrough today! Let me check! Nope, next one is scheduled for in three weeks. Dang." Also, if I think of it as "Twelve episodes a year", it doesn't sound like something I see myself getting very invested in. There are almost twice as many Formula One races a year. (They nailed down the Sunday as their event day.) And they take a four month winter break ans one month summer break. (Fair comparison, right? :-P ) And if you should select a longer game, to play through over several streams, and I am not into that game at all, that would be half a year or longer of me not feeling engaged by the show. As I said at the beginning, I am not complaining. I am still happy that we get more content. But I would like to know: Would a weekly Full Playthrough Friday be logistically possible? Could enough free space on your schedules be found for such a thing, without having other work suffer? And if it should be theoretically possible in the future: What would we need to reach that goal? What boxes need to be ticked? What would the roadmap to that look like? Could we, the community contribute anything to achieve this? I think it would be something to aim for in the long term, should it be possible to you. glove sand protect, Snowcone Guy

Hello Jones, i just watched the What's Good Games patreon town hall video they put out a few days ago. Andrea said that she spoke to patreon about keeping the $1 tier or not, and they told her it's not really worth it as it amounts to pennies for the creator. Is this something you've noticed? Would you consider upping the $1 tier to $2?

Hey Jones! I was just watching the Batman reaction shots, and you mentioned being open to the idea of Kevin Conroy portraying old Batman. I just wanted to say I absolutely agree, and that just this past year I tweeted about wanting to see Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill play old Batman and Joker for a Return of the Joker live action movie, and it was very quickly liked by Hamill himself! I just thought that was a cool tidbit, and wanted to ask if you think these two actors would “hit home” at all more so than Michael Keaton reprising his role, or if it would be weird seeing them in live action? Hi Jones, I was a fan of GT since E3 2006, and a patron of EZA since day 1. So I have probably been listening to your voice longer than anybody else on the internet since GT was the first gaming site I ever followed. One day in high school I had the thought after seeing an article about E3 in the local paper “I wonder if there is a website that has all the trailers they talk about” and typed in “video game trailers” into google, and GT was the first result. It’s a very vivid memory as it was mind blowing to find such a large archive so easily. When it comes to internet communities, I am part of the silent majority, perfectly content to just listen and never engage in anyway. Until today! My girlfriend has started a Patreon for her art and comics, and since promoting one’s creative endeavors and getting supporters is super hard, I’ve got some EZA specific questions, and some general questions to try and help her out: 1) Since I am a $10 patron, can I promote her art and comics on the Community Showcase, or should she be a patron to do that? 2) What is the process for applying to be a podcast sponsor? If you give $500, are automatically eligible for the EZA Podcast and Frame Trap, or do you need to do $750 for both? 3) Are there any other avenues within EZA that are appropriate to show off her work? (I know kyle does fan art submissions for his streams) 4) Any general advice on how to advertise or specific advice on where to advertise? Thanks for the help! And I’ll put her Patreon at the bottom of this for you. I personally don’t think Cup of Jones is the appropriate place to ask for a shout out, but it’s your show, so it's up to whether or not to read it out. L&amp;R Justin Her patreon is patreon.com/GTCCreations (it's just a funny coincicdence she's got GT in there, GTC is just her initials)

Jones I know you said new merch is coming so it's probably too late for suggestions, but as someone who doesn't wear t-shirts I'd love to see tank tops, lanyards, enamel pins, or magnets! Especially lanyards - they're the best option for repping EZA at work when you have to dress business casual.

Hey Jones, hope I'm not too late with this comment ! Looking back at 2018, what would you say was the most disappointing game you played? And looking forward at the rest of 2019, what are you excited for, but fear you will ultimately be disappointed with? Thanks , have a good and jolly Monday!
