I lucked into meeting Dahlia Datura thanks to Moss (always the source of professional models for me, as they all want to shoot with him).  He invited me to tag along to shoot at a local waterfall near Los Angeles, as the winter rains had been intense, so the creeks were running furiously.  I met them in the parking lot by the trailhead (its a short half mile hike to these falls) where Moss told me "We saw you pull up earlier and Dahlia said "Is that Dan, the guy that looks like Ted Bundy".
We all laughed and she replied "Well you kinda do!"
I answered "I am not sure if that is a compliment or an insult."
Dahlia responded "Of course its a compliment!"

The hike was short and fun and we lucked out as no one was at the falls yet.  Soon enough Dahlia was in one of Moss' sheer dresses stepping into the pool at the base of the falls. The water was goddamn cold.  I didn't want to ask her to get all the way into it, so we shot her in front of the falls, which made for an amazing setting for sure.

Dahlia was gutsy as hell though - the shooting continue, her dress came off, and as she found pose after pose, she got closer to the falls till she was finally hit hard in the face by them! At that point, soaked and freezing, I didn't know how she continued to hold it together and look fierce in the water, but she utterly did.  She submerged completely and kept working for us as we shot.  I asked her if she was alright, and that we could stop, but she simply said "Anything for the ART!"  That was HARD work, and she killed it, as I am sure you will agree.

Finally a group of older housewives came around the last bend before the falls and caught sight of us.  Dahlia didn't mind, but we thought maybe that housewives might (even though they couldn't actually get to the falls because they were afraid to cross the stream and get their shoes wet). We called it a wrap.

I will be presenting 100+ images (and a video) for my upper tiers this week. See the attachments for a preview! This little period between winter and spring in LA is so short and beautiful - I was really fortunate to capture it with Dahlia  in front of my lens.
