A few weeks after that first outing into the San Gabriel Mountains during a storm, another storm came so I asked my friend Claren if she wanted to come look for snow with me.  Unexpectedly we started to see snow quite low down the highway, so I had a sense we might be in for some attractive snow.  I just didn't know HOW gorgeous it would be.  

This time the highway was getting icy and dangerous so we stopped along the side by a closed service road. we walked down the little road and found ourselves in an intensely unreal perfect winter wonderland, with everything coated in just the right amount of pristine fluffy snow, the pail powder only broken by a small creek running through the forest.  Claren is not a model, but you'd hardly know it from the images we got.
