I'm proud to announce a new Mankiller getting added to the MKU stable of characters....introducing Regina Saskatoon, otherwise known as LADY MAPLE, superheroine of Canada!

An young orphan abandoned north of the arctic circle, she staggered out of the darkness of a winter storm exactly 15 years later, with no memory of how she survived -- except now her hair was as white as the snow swirling around her. Shockingly, she now stood a full 6'2" of sleek feminine muscle, and possessed vast, nearly unknowable physical strength. Imagine the shock of the Canadian authorities, who discovered she also had the ability to soar on the cold winds, and fire concussion beams from her icy blue eyes. She was impervious to all impacts, harm, and weapons tested (so far), and only seemed to weaken when she was exposed to long durations of hot temperatures. Even then, a quick trip to the cold of the stratosphere restored her to full strength in only seconds.

Canadian scientists, eager to have a  heroine of their own to live up to the example set by Brittania, Lady Tartan, and Banshee (and that obnoxious collection of boobs, muscle, and stars and stripes to the south), referred her to secret labs for more testing and training. Regina was outfitted in a durable, skin-tight bodysuit which displays her allegiance for all to see; the most-watched TV broadcast in Canadian history saw her float down to the city center of Ottawa like she was guided by magical wires. There, she was appointed an honorary Mountie by a prime minister who was so gobsmacked by wonder (and, if the tabloids are to be believed, an enormous sudden romantic crush,) that he could barely speak, and who blushed and nearly fainted when he shook her hand in congratulations.

Lady Maple protects her homeland from all aggressors, swearing to love her homeland and its people, since no one had shown her similar affection in her younger days. She's especially fond of Canada's cold, remote wild places and the creatures who dwell there. She has a special place in her heart for Quebec, the duties of protection of which she shares with her good friend, French superheroine Madame de Lys (more on her, later).

Regina's general alignment is good, however, she has been known to be extremely  violent when dealing out punishment to those she deems worthy to receive it. While she possesses the grace of a ballerina, agility greater than the finest athlete, and is well versed in every form of physical combat studied by the northern authorities, she often relies on a show of her vast brute strength to win the day. She seems to enjoys these physical skirmishes with various (and invariably outmatched) foes and aggressive armies, and some say, in wonder and slightly naughty tones, that showing off her abilities, and especially her strength, is a special form of excitement for her. It isn't unusual for especially handsome Mounties to report in from their duties very late; often red-faced, lightly bruised, and utterly exhausted -- often, they are found in remote locations, totally unconscious. Upon waking, to a man, they refuse utterly to describe what delayed them. Hmm...I wonder what it could be that so many of them have encountered during those long winters....

A small faction of more conservative Canadian moms (and, truthfully, jealous wives) sometimes object to her attire, otherworldly dimensions, and her oft-quoted comments during arrests, when a particularly handsome man catches her eye. "Why don't you try to keep me warm" and "you know, I always get my man" are common phrases she utters just before giving a playful wink and rocketing back into the cold blue sky.
