Violet was adopted, the twins come from an abusive home, and we know from the story that Georgette did not have the best relationship with her Mom, and we know nothing of her Dad. Remember, that the hybrid experience involved the breakup of families, so this type of situation was not unusual. Living in a human society, hybrids came to develop their own, if very different types of 'family'.

For those not famiar with the story, Felicia always cared for her twin. In a way, Felicity, by giving her away is releasing her sister from that role, letting her go to find her own happiness. Violet is being given away by her house mother from the group home where she was staying. And Tina, giving the 'new' Georgette back to her father somehow seems right.
