Greetings,

There's a right and a wrong way to prank someone as well as a right and wrong person to prank. Today I'd like to talk about the difference between these things, how to spot them and why it's important to heed the signs. As we can unintentionally do a lot of damage through this. Unless you intentionally do this type of damage to people. In which case, I have no sympathy for whatever consequences you face.

A lot of people believe this moral was hypocritical. The same way they believed "The Mysterious Mare Do-Well" was hypocritical - and that the moral between the two episodes was the same. This couldn't be further from the truth. While I've already made a video explaining the moral of "The Mysterious Mare Do-Well" and how it applies, this episode has almost nothing to do with its season two counterpart other than that a similar method was used to teach Rainbow Dash the lesson.
Furthermore, this can be a valid and very effective way to teach someone an otherwise basic point of social grace. But only if you do it with the right intentions and mentality. Otherwise, yes, it does become hypocritical - which nullifies the value of the lesson when it comes from you as well as discredits your messages in the future.

In short, while the episode bored me a bit, I found the message it provided to be very relatable and I hope I can help you take away something productive from it as well.

Be sure to let me know what you think.
