This is the end of month and I feel like its time for some announcements.

Firstly, Strive 1 will receive a new patch soon. It gonna address some niche bugs and add a bit of QOL changes.

Now the bigger thing I want to tell about. I've reconsidered my approach to Sequel's release schedule and I plan to release early versions sooner than initially planned. The reason for this is that I want to get the feedback on the (huge) changes in overall game approach, so there's no reason to flesh out all of the more complex content yet. Basically, currently I plan to polish all the early game basic stuff and mechanics and make the prealpha release to patrons. It will only include basic exploration and combat without main quests and probably fall more into category of tech demo with multiple unfinished features, but I feel like this will be more beneficial to me and patrons who have been supporting me all this time. In terms of content it will probably resemble early strive releases where only tutorial was available.

As for the ETA, I'd say realistically it shall take about another month or two with more fleshed out version should be out by the end of the year. That's about all I wanted to say for today, so thank you for your support and attention and I'll see you next month!

Smaug

I am totally up for some early feedback/bug reporting.

Yeah, I think that's the right approach. Get the core systems to a point where you're happy with them then build around it instead of trying to do it all at once.

Agreed on this approach. I'm sure some people will complain, so maybe try to have some prominent notice every time you start it that it's a tech preview and only intended as a preview of mechanics/design for community review?

Denis

Cool, let's do this!

Can't wait to try this.

I'm definitely happy to test out early release versions too.

Will our Strive 1 game have any effect on Strive 2?

Anonymous

Sounds good. TBH it'd be pretty cool to see a nice robust combat system underpinning the game. Had to support after playing for a few hours, my play experience pleasantly reminded me of those cheesy old Rance games.

As in save tranfer? This won't be possible due to structure rework.

I hope Strive 2 will have the ability to make custom unique characters with quest attached, or a character export/import system like Lilith's Throne. The game mechanic and customization option of Strive is ripe for inserting our waifu from other franchises in, but there's no actual in game system to make it happen.

You can technically create your character starting creation, which will be somewhat expanded and independent in sequel. Export/import characters isn't terribly hard to make, but making quests would take some knowledge and probably modding.

FuckEA

I'd honestly be willing to pay (within reason, like maybe 10 to 20 bucks) for a utility to write quest for Strive since I know next to nothing about programming language. But even without that, a character 'export/import' function is good enough. Or maybe recycle some of the starting servant generation script and add some kind of 'special order' function with a slaver guild or an NPC like Sebastian where we can just do another custom generated character like the starter with massive cash.

Actually writing quests in sequel will be far more manageable, and you will only need to know how json works. I've gave it a try with a minor character for starters and upcoming demo and I feel like it might be really easy to use with some guidance even for some serious branching.
