John Lister

Those dancing chappies at the start actually have a notable place in wrestling history, as discussed in the excellent book Turning The Tables by John Lister: "...from 14 May [Tod] Gordon began running a South Philadelphia building officially known as Ritner Street Community Center, but better known as Viking Hall by its owners, the Philadelphia Viking Club. This was a local branch of the Mummers, a group that exists solely to organise the traditional 15,000-strong parade that takes place each New Year in the centre of Philadelphia. Wrestlers and fans alike would often struggle to find the building at the intersection of Swanson and Ritner Streets because the location did not officially exist: Viking members had simply paved over abandoned railroad tracks before building the venue. The building, soon dubbed the ECW Arena, was a run-down facility used mainly for bingo (to fund the Viking Club), and was perfect for the rough-and-ready wrestling style; the owners gave free reign for Gordon and crew to cause as much mayhem as they wished as long as they repaired any damage."

Wrestle Me!

I had completely forgotten this but you saying it John has made me remember the ECW Arena was the mummer's hall! What a deep dive, you should write (another) book (I genuinely mean it, I would love to work with you on a British wrestling history) xx
