We are very close to launching the new  website version. This post will be covering a few topics related to the transition.

What is this update about?

This update is bringing a much needed makeover to the website code base. We are moving away from the Drupal CMS platform and into a custom coded solution. In doing so, we will be leaving behind all of the current bugs, and probably introducing some new ones. The major upside to this is the code will be much easier to debug and fix compared to the nightmare of Drupal. Please be patient with us until we can get everything resolved!

Is streaming speed being addressed with this update?

This update does nothing to help with our streaming speeds or delivery capability. That is a separate issue that is also in progress, but mostly hindered by the costs. This update only focuses on the code base for the website itself, and does not affect any content servers aside from the necessary changes to make them work with the new website.

What you can do to prepare.

The main thing is to have your own content tagged and categorized properly. We will be doing a best-effort migration to the new tag system. We know this is difficult, or maybe even impossible, with all the problems it has. With the new tagging system, tags will be relevant to how content is sorted and found. This means we will also be upholding a minimum standard when it comes to tagging content. Primary tags will be required to be included when they are relevant.

-Primary tags - mikumikudance, blender, source_filmmaker, honey_select, virt_a_mate, koikatsu, hmv, other

If you find yourself unable to complete any changes, that's okay. It can be done after migration.

What to do after migration is complete.

After launch, setting proper tags on your content will be much easier. If you want your content to be found, this is a necessary step that should be done as soon as possible. We will also be requiring new content to be tagged properly when it comes to specific sets of tags, as mentioned above.

Along with the new website, we will no longer be supporting bbcode text formatting, in favor of markdown. Although we will be doing a best-effort conversion of bbcode to markdown, you may need to go back and check up on any older posts to make some touch-ups to the formatting.

New rules update.

Along with the launch, we are also introducing an updated and rewritten set of rules. Some rules have changed, while others have been added or removed. Some important changes include handling of tags and also minimum requirements for acceptable content.

When is launch?

Some things have come up during the testing period and are being worked on as fast as possible. If we need to take the extra time to make the launch as smooth as possible, we will do so. A tentative estimate would be sometime next week.

What comes next?

There is still a lot left to accomplish. Following release, we will be monitoring for bugs. Additionally, we will be prioritizing updates for usability purposes. UI updates for both PC and mobile are a priority. We plan on getting premium accounts active as soon as possible. But we will deal with important bugs first. The next big project will be the tags system. We would like to move to a more community based tagging feature.
