Currently working on game over options.
Any suggestions to improve it?

Basically when you die, you are greeted with these options:

 ------ V1.95------------------------

Revive on the spot
Pay a fixed price based on the current stage. Half the paid gold can be picked up as it gets scattered as coins. Not enough gold means going to have to select the rest of the options below.

Revive to last checkpoint
-Lose all obtained gold from the current quest.
OR
-Get a debt curse applied on you and get lesser amount of gold. The curse gets lifted when you pick up enough new gold to pay for the penalty.

GAME OVER
Return to the world map. Take all the gold obtained from the failed run.

GAME OVER+
pay XY Gold to see the animated game over screen, gets saved in gallery mode, get additional buffs and revive on last check point.

Has there been any progress with the animated game over screens? So far I really like all the options.

Last checkpoint but with a less harsh gold penalty

Make it a choice between last checkpoint/Game Over+, and Game Over.

Considering players would most likely spend most of their gold on upgrades before going on a new mission, the 30% gold penalty for the instant revival on the spot wouldn't actually be that heavy. No mater how many times you decide to revive and pay 30% of your small amount of gold held each time, you'd end up with close to 0 gold at worst, which isn't that big of a deal since you'd only lose little gold overall. Maybe make it a fixed amount so that you'd actually need to save up beforehand and not be able to infinitely revive yourself.

There's going to be a passive skill that improves your damage the more gold you have to go hand in hand with the penalty, but yeah good point to make it fixed and based on stage level.

the animated game over scenes for ganker, rapevine and bloodhunter are finished but currently unpolished. will make it by v2.0

I like revive on the spot. It reminds me of losing rings in Sonic, where you pick them up or its game over the next time you get hit. It punishes you without taking you out of the action. If you die with out any good it's a game over and you restart the stage.

I think that's good enough for now...Looking forward to seeing what surprises are waiting in 1.95/2.0

I like revive on spot, for flavor it would be neat if the enemy that killed you could takes your things, and in order to get it back you have to fight it and of course win. Kinda like the enemy levels up off taking you out. This of course just being an idea, I am for RoS and love all of the work put in so far!

I must express that whatever you decide... please make it a static decision, I was so fucking exhausted by Torchlight's THREE DIFFERENT OPTIONS whenever I died that I quit the game in a huff and never went back. It was designed so that no matter which option I took, it made me feel like I made the wrong one

I really don't like the idea of having to pay gold for game over+. I'm not a fan of galleries since they break immersion, so I'd rather be able to see the animations in game whenever I want without feeling like I'm being punished for it. At least make it so that once you've paid gold once the scene always plays on any future game overs.

Almost ready. just a few more days of bug tests left. i'm gonna call it now but it will most likely be up on 2nd of July as weekend hits end of June. I'm still going to take advantage of the time i have left for that weekend. I honestly could never polish v195, so expect some ugly shit, but it will be very playable by then. it's a totally different game from the early versions.

Cool, looking forward to it...might be able to repledge to ya if one of these other creators I'm supporting doesn't deliver on their promises...(one being a guy named Eromancer...he's working on a game called Malise and the Machine...he's been working on converting things from Daz to Maya and Redshift...and it's been almost a YEAR since his last full game release...he shows progress, but it's slow...I'll repledge to him when he shows some real progress, like a new full release. So yeah, repledging momentarily.

having options is better than forcing the player with too much, too little or a comprimise of both.

Agrees with option #3 (curse debt). It avails potential prospects for decorating the curse with sexy mechanics and scenes, in the case you and Chris decide to expand on it in the future. I think players would like that a lot.
