Train or boat? Steak or lobster? I don't think there was a single painting I worked on with Kyropracter devoid of odd questions (I mean, they were strange to me, a young, naive padawan). Many boats and trains are very similar once you're inside. Similarly, we can't taste the monitor screen when we see painted food (lucky me, since I'm allergic to lobster), so why bother?

As you can see, I had much to learn because there should not be a single element on the canvas (the same goes for page, script, score, or clay) that's random. They're all packed with meaning, no matter how mindful or clumsy we are. I was walking in the park yesterday, listening to a podcast on screenwriting, and I giggled alone when they noted how vital these composition choices are. I also remembered that I hadn't posted this painting yet, so here we are (LOL).

Train or boat? Today, Sheree and Livia chose a yacht and invited the most experienced crew members to take them on a cruise. Experienced. Yeah. Let's stick with that quality (LOL). Extra special thanks to Kyropracter, who kindly guided me through the many layers of this dense forest called storytelling.

Enjoy! =^______^=

p.s.: this is an extra painting, an early access submission. I'll post it on my social media in the future. Since this was a commission painting, I won't publish its RIF file.

Your work looks a lot better brighter. A few of your latest paintings have been dark enough that I couldn't really see what was going on. These are nice and bright and help my old eyes out a lot.

I see lots of beautiful experiences 😋

These characters and their adventures in luxury are just so hot and I love all your paintings of them. Thanks Kyropracter!

You may not believe me, but I almost mentioned this aspect of illustration in the text. Alongside the podcast, I also watched a couple of classes by Bill Perkins (an excellent teacher, by the way!) on low-key (darker) versus high-key (brighter) paintings (his approach deals with low, medium, and high-key images, which can, in turn, have low, medium, or high contrast. We end up with a didactical 3x3 grid of possibilities and thousands of ideas). I intend to incorporate more high-key compositions into this gallery because they read better and convey a desirable, lighter feel to the images. Thank you so much for your input! =^___^=

The good part (spoiler ahead) is that we’ll eventually experience some of the roads not taken. Lucky us! I’m glad you like these sweet, sunny experiences, Tazma! =^___^=

I’m pretty sure Kyro had a solid master plan behind these paintings from the Kyraci universe. I know I painted them, but I’m also a fan of the playful concepts we find in them (thanks, K!). I’m glad you like it, pickleherring, and stay tuned: there’s more on the way. =^____^=

Kyropracter

Hey, thanks! These characters were created in part to put them in scenarios just like this and give Q a variety of options and directions to paint, basically providing as much freedom as possible. Q gets all the credit for bringing them to life!

Kyropracter

Haha, I totally forgot about that! I once asked, "hey Q, boat or train?" and then several months later this was commissioned. My favorite pun in this is still Sheree 'motor-boating' the crew member. There's also a fun Where's Waldo game to play, where the cabin keys make frequent re-appearances, and Karlie's tentacle appears in this one (at one point this was supposed to be a crossover). Such a beautiful sight at sea! Thanks again for everything Q!!

That freedom made all the difference, mainly because the options you provided were super well thought out. I think we ended up with a method for (modularly) arriving at new painting concepts. After that, it was just a matter of covering the canvas with paint. =^___^=

You have no idea how those questions became a part of my daily routine (LOL). Occasionally I’d try to paint raw meat, tentacles, a fawn, or at least keep a tidy folder of references, just in case. Those unique elements, puns, and the Easter eggs made me a more versatile painter. Thank you, K! =^___^=

Well I'm really loving this great meeting of minds, and looking forward to seeing more of your ideas! If you ever happen to put together more lore or backstory to Livia and Sheree I would love to hear it.

quaraci

Livia and Sheree are in the middle of the entire Kyraci universe (not to mention Kyraci industries!). I would never start a new painting of those two without consulting Kyro first, of course, and I'd never post such a painting without his approval... But let's not rush things. There are more scenes of them just waiting to be posted already. =^____^= #staytuned #loveisintheair I'm glad you like them, pickleherring! I dig them too. :D
