“What is it? The smell, perhaps?”

“Yes, and no. The smell is indeed unique, a mixture of sweat, wet pussy, and dick. Sorry. I always thought that it would smell like a horse, but it doesn’t, really. Sometimes it’s moist, so the scent gets even stronger, but there’s nothing about it that makes me think of a barn… Barns are really stinky, uh… Haha... Am I drunk, what’s your name again?”

“Sofia. No, you’re not drunk, Iris. I think you just miss your friend very much. I hope she’s back soon. You were saying...?”

“Yeah… I think it’s all about those things that are harder to picture, like the weight of it on your face, y’know? It gets heavier and heavier as the blood flows in, and it doesn’t seem to stop growing, I mean, it scared me when I first felt it, but when I got used to it, all I could feel was anticipation. She must have the heart of a horse too. She has to.”

“Is she a good friend?”

“She’s the best. She was the only one who took care of me when I needed the most. She’s a great friend, lover, cousin, you name it. She never rushes things, and she’s never judged me”, Iris said, now looking at Sofia’s hand holding hers. The blond woman in front of her didn’t ask her to stop crying, nor encouraged it. She just stood there. “Thanks, Sofia. You have some mad listening skills. I really needed this.”

“Maybe, but it could also be the wine. So, do you want to go to my place and see my collection of horse pictures?”

“Shit, you have a collection of horse pics?”

“Of course not, silly. Come on. It’s getting late.”

The current painting, “Anticipation” was done with Krita, like all the others before it. I’ve been learning new ways to use it, new brushes and new workflows, but I’ve also been experimenting with softwares other than Krita for the last couple of months. I guess I’ve already said this, but soon I’ll post a couple of our results here as extra paintings. 

I wanted to write a little bit about it before actually posting anything. =^___^= 

I bought Artrage 6 and Corel painter 2020, aiming at their refined traditional media tools (I’ve also been practicing with traditional oils). They have steep learning curves, depending on the tools used. Artrage has a minimalistic approach and less tools, yielding great results right out of the box, while Painter is more flexible, more robust, but requires some extra tweaking time (a.k.a. dozens of hours! LOL) until the desired outcomes can be reached. 

I don’t think I’ll ever leave Krita for good, since it’s an amazing piece of software. By now I feel at home with it, it has a powerful brush engine, awesome image editing capabilities, and it’s free. Even so, I’d like to bring something new to the table, something more painterly, maybe. 

If you guys approve it, then I’ll use them more often, but I don’t want to – and I certainly won’t – neglect our Dog Tier patrons, who receive the Krita (KRA) files every month. Any major changes will be put to the vote, of course, and will never be one-sided. I know that many artists work with the standard Photoshop (PSD) files, which is an expensive piece of software, and this doesn’t seem to be a problem. However, if having Painter (RIF) or Artrage (PTG) files as rewards instead of Krita (KRA) files is a deal breaker to any of you, please tell me, OK? 

For now, I’m just having some fun and sharing the good results with you. =^____^=
