Arms and other randoms ~ #46 (Patreon)
Content
Sorry for the slight delay this week, some things came up ~ apologies :(
The arms are heavily WIP so this is not the final version!!!
We have some nice updates this week, a few new assets and many quality of life improvements. Recently I’ve been cleaning up the project a lot, ever since pre-alpha’s release we have been pumping out a lot of new features and assets, taking time to organize the project and streamline some of our systems was bound to happen and it’s great to do it sooner rather than later (• ε •). We’re tidying up the code but this doesn’t mean I don’t have new things for you all! So let me put down my broom and get on with telling you guys some news.
This week I’m rolling out some updates to Bedford Square and other parts of the city. I’ve now populated some of our areas with the fancier city street lamps to diversify the overall look a bit, I feel like since some of these are shorter they give out a cozier feeling than the taller, metropolis sized ones, so I’ve placed them in areas I wanted to make look more cute. Bedford specially is way brighter at night now, so here’s to jogging without tripping on rocks!
Speaking of jogging, we’re on full steam with our new arm characters. I’ve sampled a small comparison here of the running animation with our new and old characters side by side so you can see how progress has been going. We were able to reuse most of our previous animations, so for this one it was mostly animating the new arms!
Here’s something people have requested a lot ever since I’ve included decorative items into the game: you now have a decorations category in Build Mode. Click the teddy bear to find all smaller items like toys, paintings and phones, no need to resort to “All” anymore!
Speaking of quality of life improvements, I’m also updating the Settings menu. There are a lot of things that I felt could be improved with the previous one, especially when it came to categorizing the different settings, so I hope the UI is more intuitive now.
We’ve also added animations to all UIs! Previously menus and buttons just showed up on screen without any proper transitions, but now things are way more subtle. The hope is to improve how the game feels, making for a smoother and more chill experience for you all.
This is it for this week, see you next Wednesday! (•ө•)♡
