New Video! Why Astro's Playroom is So Special to Me (sponsor/ad-free!) (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

Just to let you know that the new video is now available! Astro's Playroom may not look like much on the surface—it's a fairly standard 3D platformer designed as a tech demo for the PlayStation 5's new DualSense controller. That said, despite enjoying my time with other next gen titles like Demon's Souls and Spider-Man Miles Morales, I've been utterly blown away by the joy, excitement and, oddly, melancholic nostalgia of this incredibly charming experience—fully convincing me of the power of the PS5's new features, as well as allowing me to reflect on the games of my youth and the people I played them with in a way I did not expect.

So yeah, first video of the fabled Next Generation! I have a bunch of thoughts I'm writing up on my experience with the console more generally which I'll post soon, but right now I'm deeeep into the new games coming out. I'm hoping to get a Yakuza 7 vid out this month as well as maaaybe the Flight Simulator vid I teased a while back, as well as some other reviews/potentially weirder stuff (this is my second video of the month so don't worry, any after this you won't be charged for). Trying to really up my content output before the year is out so there'll be a bunch for you to watch!

As we come into the home stretch of this year I kinda can't believe how much time has stopped having any kind of meaning—this year has both felt like twelve and like it's completely disappeared. Despite how truly awful it's been, I will never be able to thank you enough for allowing me to pour myself so fully into this—as much as the job is stressful, it's something I'm truly passionate about. I literally would not be able to keep doing it if it weren't for your generous support—you're not only responsible for me being able to produce more content in the run up to Christmas, you're responsible for any content being produced at all. You all rule and I sincerely hope you're doing OK. I hope you enjoy this video and look forward to seeing more very soon!
