Man, I did not realize how down bad I was after slogging through Cult of the Lamb.

After playing that game, I was starting to become convinced that I simply didn't like action games and the genre had, somehow, mystically become "not for me." 2022 was a rough year for action games not named Elden Ring or God of War. Thankfully, here's Hi-Fi Rush to remind me that good action games do exist, which means that this review is, perhaps, a little tied up in my own personal hangups. But hey, we're like a month out from this game's release, so a review needs that personal perspective to matter at this juncture anyway.

Coming up next, the big, exciting news is that streaming is coming next Friday! I'll put out a little video with all the details between now and then, but I'd love to see people come out for my first day on stream. This also means that I'm making progress on the first ever Time-Strapped Gamer's Guide, which is probably about two or three months out. In the meantime, it's about time for a quarterly wrapup again.

Hi-Fi Rush Restored My Faith In Action Games

Lately, it feels like every time I pick up an action game, I come away extremely whelmed. Even universally beloved darlings like Cult of the Lamb! But just when I was starting to think that maybe I just didn't like action games, Hi-Fi Rush came along, and god does it feel good to enjoy video games again.
