A new review is live! V Rising appears to have surprised the world with its early access launch popularity, but as a fan of the developers, I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Stunlock's a studio that's been making phenomenal games for a solid decade now, but they've just never managed to find the popularity to keep those games running.

And V Rising is the most Stunlock game I could possibly imagine, a game that attempts to combat those popularity woes by jumping onto the survival crafter bandwagon while still coming at the genre with their own natural inclinations. That means that V RIsing is a very different beast from most games in its genre, one that ditches a lot of its more simulationist aspects while introducing the best, tightest combat I've ever seen in a genre that typically features it almost as an afterthought.

Coming up next, I think I'm going to take a belated look at Citizen Sleeper, another surprise indie hit from the past few months. And looking beyond that, it's already going to be time for another quarterly wrapup soon!

How Fast Does V Rising Get Good?

"What if a survival crafting game, but you're a vampire" is a pretty killer pitch, but V Rising's far more than just a gothic skin on a familiar formula.
