Slipways Review is Live! (Patreon)

It's time for another review folks, and this one is a doozy. It feels like I've been having a wild month of back to back showstoppers lately. But even coming hot on the heels of a game I couldn't put down long enough to actually review and another game I came about two inches from just calling outright perfect, Slipways is still the crowning title at the end of this hot streak! Admittedly, it's not a very fair contest, because Slipways doesn't just hit every personal taste I have, but is also the perfect game for my channel, the sort of thing I only come across once or twice a year.

Slipways boils the 4x genre, one of most complex, fiddly, and unintuitive genres out there, into an approachable and accessible management game, sort of like one might imagine a board game version of a 4x title. Matches of Slipways only take a single hour, and perhaps most stunningly, the game manages to accomplish this feat without sacrificing what makes the genre actually fun and engaging. Slipways is all the delight of diving into your favorite strategy game without the 40 hours of required dedicated playtime, and it is a godsend.

Coming up next, I'm honestly not sure what's coming out. I've been down in the trenches crunching out the last few videos and there's still a reading list to get out and a channel update that's been floating around unfinished for a few months, so I haven't put much time into lining up future reviews. And we're already almost to the end of the second financial quarter, which means it's already somehow almost time for a quarterly wrapup again. Maybe this time I'll actually get a head start on it for once, but there will definitely be one or two things between then and now to tide you over.
