Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Review is Now Live! (Patreon)
Content
I initially picked up Age of Calamity almost on a lark, thinking it might be interesting to see how the hell Toei and Nintendo were going to make a Dynasty Warriors game based off of 30 minutes of cutscenes from a drastically different open world game. It's one of those pitches that's so weird that you want to investigate it just to see how the hell it could even function. Five hours later, though, I'd fallen in love with Age of Calamity. The narrative I'd initially come to the game for, unfortunately, is just a fluffy time travel spinoff that hadn't added much of substance for anyone invested in BotW's narrative, but the gameplay...my god, I was caught off-guard by how much the Dynasty Warriors series has evolved over the past several years, and I'm here to gush about it!
Next up on the docket is Haven, come hell or high water. No way I'm missing Game Bakers' big followup to Furi, much less one that's an experimental indie RPG. This thing has My Jam written all over it. After that, I'd like to see if I can fit in one more new title before it's time to bring back the year in review and start checking out stuff I missed like Ghostrunner and Paradise Killer. It's an exciting month ahead!
