Raji: An Ancient Epic Review is Live! (Patreon)
Content
The first thing to know about Raji is its high ambitions to bring Indian culture to the global gaming market. Raji is the dream: a game steeped in the myth and aesthetic of India's past...actually made by the Indian developers who know it best. The second thing to know about Raji is that it is a creatively safe game — remarkably so. Though the world you explore is as gorgeous as it is singular, the actual gameplay you've seen a hundred times before. And so despite the fact that Raji is a well-executed game on a technical level, I still walked away from it feeling a little underwhelmed.
I know I mentioned the quarterly wrapup was coming, and it (along with another brief bonus video that struck me like lightning the other day) is still on the way, but I happened to get a copy for a game I'd already given up on, and so altered my schedule a bit to give the game its fair dues. Most likely, the bonus video will be the next out just because it's already half done, but I might surprise myself and get the quarterly wrapup done just as quickly. Either way, I think we can look forward to a bit of an accelerated pace with the next few releases. Enjoy!
