Two videos in one week! Woah!

This time, I'm checking out a game I've been extremely excited about and following for almost a year now: Signs of the Sojourner. It's this fascinating attempt to create an analogue for the act of conversation through a light deckbuilding card game. And after playing through it, I'm honestly a little dumbfounded at just how well it simulates both a real conversation and a significantly more complex card game like Magic, to the point where it's teaching me how similar the two can be. Not every day you can say that! While I think that's about the highest praise I could give, there's also plenty more to enjoy, with a story about taking over your mother's store, traveling far and wide through a wild-west-meet-rust-belt desert, and haggling with colorful merchants in your quest to bring back goods from abroad to stock your shelves.

I'm not 100% sure what's getting reviewed next week. I don't have anything on the docket, but there was a pretty neat Luftrausers-like that came out the other day, so if nothing better pops up, I'll probably check that out. Either way, see you next week!

Signs of the Sojourner Review: Card Conversations on the Dusty Trail!

Today's review is on Signs of the Sojourner, a fascinating attempt to create a mechanical analogue to holding a conversation...through a deckbuilding card game! And while I imagine that summary produced a few skeptical eyebrow raises, I'm happy to report that it's pretty dang successful! I feel like I could nerd out all day about all the little ways that this game successfully translates the finer nuances of a conversation. And while my incredibly nerdy admiration for the sheer meticulous construction of this game's mechanical metaphor is the main driving force behind my love for it, there's plenty beyond that to enjoy, as well. If that wasn't enough to sell you, then buckle in for this First Five review!
